This document compares three re-sampling methods - linear, cubic spline, and Berger's - for spectral analysis of RR-interval series data from heart rate variability studies. For artificially generated uniformly and non-uniformly sampled test signals, the linear and cubic spline methods introduced phase shifting and lowered the frequencies, while Berger's method accurately reproduced the inherent frequencies except for some amplitude distortion. Similar trends were observed for real RR-interval series. The document concludes that Berger's interpolation provides the best re-sampling method as it significantly reduces spectral distortion compared to linear and cubic spline methods.
