► INTRODUCTION: What is a legal
encyclopedia?
► Legal encyclopedia contain brief, broad
summaries of legal topics, providing
introductions to legal topics and explaining
relevant terms.

3. Why Use A Legal Encyclopedia?
► First, the articles in a legal encyclopedia can
be quite useful as a general introduction to
an area of law which is new to the user.
► Secondly, legal encyclopedias provide indepth information and are a good way to
find citations to cases and other useful
materials on a particular issue.

4. How Is Information Arranged in a
Legal Encyclopedia?

Information in a legal
encyclopedia is arranged
alphabetically and can be
searched by title, name, court
case or subject.
►Information can be
obtained through the
eTable of Contents or
the eBook Index.

5. GETTING STARTED
Information can be accessed through the library’s
website. User must be a library card holder in
order to access the Gale Virtual Reference
Library.
► User then will go to the library’s research or
reference link and click on the letter “g” to pull up
Gale Power Search.
► Next user will type in “Gale Encyclopedia of
Everyday Law” in the publication search engine.

Once the user has accessed the “Gale Encyclopedia of
Everyday Law” publication section, the user will have the
opportunity to view information via the eTable of Contents,
eBook Index or the List of Illustrations link.
If the user chooses the eTable of Content link they will
have the opportunity to view information about the Front
Cover, Half Title Page, Title Page, Copyright Page,
Introduction, Acknowledgments as well the various legal
issues presented in the book.
When the user clicks on any topic, they will be forwarded to
another page which will allow them to listen, print, email or
download the information. Also, the user will have the
ability to view information as a PDF page and have
information translated in another language.

7. GETTING STARTED, PART III
► If the user selects the eBook Index option
they will have the opportunity to type in a
term or part of a term in the index box or
they can click on an alphabetical letter and
be taken directly to the topic.
► The user only has the ability to print
information when choosing this option.

8. GETTING STARTED, PART IV
► If the user selects the List of Illustrations
option they will be given the opportunity to
view the images and logos for the
Copyright Page, Front Cover and Title
Page.
► This option also allows the user to obtain
information About the Publication.
► The user also has the opportunity to print
the information.
