gray and light gray glass. The factory, producing glass from 2mm to 12mm thickness, has
already achieved international standards in producing glass.
Our country has an annual market for TK 3.00 billion glassware and almost all of them are

demand, it can sell only 3500 tones in the local market and export around 1500 tons to the
neighboring countries of India, Nepal and Bhutan.
2 | P a g e
As a major portion of the raw-materials are procured locally, the prospects of the float glass
industry is bright indeed. It sells glass at much lower price compared to that of the imported
glasses with similar quality.
About 501 – 1000 People are employed directly or indirectly in this industry. Its total annual
sales volume US $1Million – US $2.5Million. Its main exporting markets are North
America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Eastern Asia, Southeast Asia,
Mid East, Africa, and Oceania
NGIL is a multi-functional float glass complex set up with a dream. Sprawled over 23 acres
of lush green land at Joina bazar, Sreepur, Gazipur, Bangladesh, NGIL has a built up area of
over half a million square feet with some structures rising over 80 feet. With 37 meters (121
feet) high imposing water tower and 75 meters (246 feet) lofty chimney, NGIL presents a
panoramic view of eloquent beauty with impressive grandeur. Dotted by architecturally
attractive workstations surrounded by elegantly crafted paths which are landscaped by
intertwined trees, shrubs and lawns, the factory is an ecological dream.
Therefore good marketing must be able to create a “proposition” or set of benefits for the end
customer that delivers value through products or services.

Management is like a human brain. It is an integral aspect of business itself.
The importance of management is not fully realised in many developing countries. The economic
progress of western countries is not merely due to abundant material resources but because they
are efficiently managed and utilised. In other countries, resources are not utilised fully and
properly due to lack of managerial skills. This suggests that management is a key factor in the
working of business enterprises. There is no substitute to efficient management. An inefficiently

Recommendations
Accountability of the management of Nasir Group in terms of managing risk should be specific.
The management should provide some sort of formal training to improve the performance of

Another big weakness they have is their term policy they should differentiate between
temporary and permanent term policy so that clients can choose the best policy for them.
Conclusion
Nasir Group is one of the largest glassware company in Bangladesh. Nasir glass
companies managerial function and skills are highly organized. They control their employee and
their activities by their technique. We thank our honorable teacher Tasnim Rezoana Tanim for
assigning us to the field work which gave us the opportunity to work with such a company. The
people who we interviewed were very enthusiastic in helping us with this project which greatly
contributed to the fulfillment of this project. Most importantly this assignment has greatly
contributed to our learning as it has given us the opportunity to apply our education in a more
practical approach

Limitation of study:
Our study is based on Nasir Glass Ltd. When we were given to do our assignment we thought
that it would be easy for us. But when we visited Nasir Glass’s official web site we were
disheartened. Because we found only four pages about Nasir Glass’s establishment and some of
its products. But it was a very small amount of data for our assignment. As a result we decided to
visit Nasir Glass’s head office at Baridhara for collecting more information.
This is privatized company. So they were friendly enough to provide all the information.
Except this limitation we have to face other:
 Our study is based on secondary data and those data are not updated time to time. So we
couldn’t get recent data.
 Whenever we tried to open the different pages of Nasir Glass’s official web site the
server showed that the page couldn’t be displayed now.
 As it is private company, the employees were so busy that they could not give us enough
time that we need.
 They were not enough co-operative to reveal their different programs in public because
of the competition in the market.
Data collection:
When we were given to do the assignment the first question raised in our mind is which type of
data, how much data we need and from where we would collect them. For reason we divided our
sources of data into two sections, such as, primary data collection source and the secondary data
collection source.
We decided that, primary data, which are not available in web sites, published books,

  • 3. Over view & Background of the company: Nasir Glass Industries, the biggest and first float glass manufacturer in Bangladesh. Company started its journey in 1977, now employs more than 23,000 people. It is also the largest melamine manufacturer. Produces different sized and colored float glass according to the requirements of the buyer. The manufacturing plant is located within the short distance of the capital city Dhaka, at Sripur in Gazipur made at a cost of Tk 300 crore. Built in 2005, Nasir Glass Industry, the country’s first float glass plant, has a capacity to produce 60,000 tons of float glass, strong enough for furniture, besides window and door plans. The glass factory produces clear and tinted heat absorbing glass, clear, bronze, blue and dark gray and light gray glass. The factory, producing glass from 2mm to 12mm thickness, has already achieved international standards in producing glass. Our country has an annual market for TK 3.00 billion glassware and almost all of them are imported from China, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. But because of the poor local demand, it can sell only 3500 tones in the local market and export around 1500 tons to the neighboring countries of India, Nepal and Bhutan. 2 | P a g e
  • 4. As a major portion of the raw-materials are procured locally, the prospects of the float glass industry is bright indeed. It sells glass at much lower price compared to that of the imported glasses with similar quality. About 501 – 1000 People are employed directly or indirectly in this industry. Its total annual sales volume US $1Million – US $2.5Million. Its main exporting markets are North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Eastern Asia, Southeast Asia, Mid East, Africa, and Oceania NGIL is a multi-functional float glass complex set up with a dream. Sprawled over 23 acres of lush green land at Joina bazar, Sreepur, Gazipur, Bangladesh, NGIL has a built up area of over half a million square feet with some structures rising over 80 feet. With 37 meters (121 feet) high imposing water tower and 75 meters (246 feet) lofty chimney, NGIL presents a panoramic view of eloquent beauty with impressive grandeur. Dotted by architecturally attractive workstations surrounded by elegantly crafted paths which are landscaped by intertwined trees, shrubs and lawns, the factory is an ecological dream. Therefore good marketing must be able to create a “proposition” or set of benefits for the end customer that delivers value through products or services. 3 | P a g e
  • 5. Chairman & M.D. The company is named after its owner Nasir Uddin Biswas, he is 63-year-old. He never kept his dreams in his eyes only. The biggest temptation of his life was to convert the dreams into a masterpiece of reality. The name of such a masterpiece is Nasir Group of Industries. From a small trader in the 1970s, now he runs a group of nine units, from float glass to energy-saving bulbs, all leaders in the sectors. With nearly Tk 2,000 crore in annual turnover, the conglomerate has set excellent repayment standards over the years and become a preferred client for banks. “I go for the products that are not available in Bangladesh as those will generate employment and save foreign currencies from import payments and products that are not made in Bangladesh, but have a huge demand in the country ,” He says. 4 | P a g e Such products also help save foreign currencies, he says. We are focused on creating a strong and sound future for accelerated growth benefiting all. Nasir Group shall continue to act in the best interests of its customers, employees, shareholders and of course, Bangladesh

  • 22. 21 | P a g e Limitation of study: Our study is based on Nasir Glass Ltd. When we were given to do our assignment we thought that it would be easy for us. But when we visited Nasir Glass’s official web site we were disheartened. Because we found only four pages about Nasir Glass’s establishment and some of its products. But it was a very small amount of data for our assignment. As a result we decided to visit Nasir Glass’s head office at Baridhara for collecting more information. This is privatized company. So they were friendly enough to provide all the information. Except this limitation we have to face other:  Our study is based on secondary data and those data are not updated time to time. So we couldn’t get recent data.  Whenever we tried to open the different pages of Nasir Glass’s official web site the server showed that the page couldn’t be displayed now.  As it is private company, the employees were so busy that they could not give us enough time that we need.  They were not enough co-operative to reveal their different programs in public because of the competition in the market. Data collection: When we were given to do the assignment the first question raised in our mind is which type of data, how much data we need and from where we would collect them. For reason we divided our sources of data into two sections, such as, primary data collection source and the secondary data collection source. We decided that, primary data, which are not available in web sites, published books, annual reports, newspapers, and TV channels, we will collect them by visiting Nasir Glass’s head office at Baridhara
