1.1 INTRODUCTION TO SITE
PPR Batu Muda located at Jalan Ipoh, Sentul,Kuala
Lumpur next by Kampung Batu Muda.
Address: PPR batu muda Jalan Ipoh, PPR batu muda, 51200
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.
The chosen site is the open field surrounded by Block
A,B,C,D of PPR Batu Muda. It is surrounded by 4 blocks of
flats. The reason why this site was chosen is because there
is kindergarten located at the ground floor of block A and
less facilities are found in the open field. Hence, there is a
high potential for it to be developed as an interesting urban
park dedicated for children.
Chosen Site

1.2 SWOT ANALYSIS
-Diversified kind of businesses can
be found such as restaurant, stalls,
kindergarten etc.
-Close proximity to kindergarten
(Total of 3)
-Lack of shading
- Lack of public seatings
- Segregation of community
- Vandalised facilities
- Limited place for children to
play in a safe condition
- Facilities for children are not
well maintained
-Public spaces can be fully utilised
as a place for the community to
gather and encourage interaction
between neighbours.
-Abundance of green space for
children to run around.
-Children might get injured
while playing on the not well
maintained facilities.
- Dengue disease might occur
as there are alot of stain water
on the field.
- The facilities are not child
friendly.

2.1 DESIGN CONCEPT
Due to the act of vandalism and the neglect in taking
good care of the facilities, it is perceived by myself that
the residents of PPR lack of sense of belonging towards
these facilities, hence the deterioration of the state of
the facilities.
In order to tackle with such problem, a sense of place
must be created among the locals with the aim of
eliminating the social barrier. Such good community
could be done by creating not merely a child friendly
space, but an intergenerational space which is
sensitive to all ages.
In addition, to further enhance the above-mentioned aim,
I intend to integrate the element of nature into the
design. With this, children using the facilities are able to
appreciate the beauty of environment, thereby nurturing
and enhancing the love and care towards the facilities
provided and also towards the environment.

2.2 DESIGN INTENTION
AIM OF THE DESIGN
The site has become a waste opportunity for enhancement as it
has a huge field located in the middle. Children do not have a
proper space to play in their neighbourhood, while the grown ups
have no space to gather and interact with the community. Hence,
all these will lead to a lack of sense of belonging, therefore social
barriers among the community and vandalism act will occur.
The whole aim of this design is to create an impact by creating a
healthy community where sense of place can be found. Besides
that, it is also to create a fair chance for the children in PPR Batu
Muda to enjoy the child friendly urban park. By creating a child
friendly space, it promotes to strengthen the bond of the
community as well. With these, a sense of place is formed in PPR
Batu Muda, therefore the community will be more responsible in
protecting their facilities in the neighbourhood.
Targeted User Group
The main targeted users are the children in PPR Batu Muda and
also the dominant user group around the site which are the
community of PPR Batu Muda. As my proposed urban space is
sensitive to age, hence user group despite any age are welcome.
What does the site needs?
One of the problem found in PPR Batu Muda is children tend to
cycle all the way to the metropolitan park beside as there is not
proper bicycle lane in the residential area. Besides that, the field
in PPR Batu Muda is lack of public seatings and shades, hence,
the community do not really make full use of the field.
