The motivation behind the idea, was to create something relatable for the audience as well as allowing them to feel apart of the short film. Therefore the story behind the film is based on losing and finding items such as losing your phone or keys. Do you ever wonder who the item belongs to? Do you wonder who has found the item you’ve lost? This is where the audience can relate. We decided that our target audience will be young teenagers aged around 14-19 years old as this may be more relatable to them as being a young teenager, they may be more careless and sometimes don’t pay attention. This is when we lose items.
This project we will need various amounts of equipment. a video camera will be used to shoot the footage we need for the short film. The DLSR camera will be used to take photographs to create a stop motion for one of the scenes in the short film as well as to document and show behind the scenes development and progress on the short film which will be used to post on our individual blogs.
A microphone attachment will be needed to record and capture sounds to create the atmosphere of the the short film as there will be minimal dialogue and more use of sounds.
We will also need a tripod to make sure we take still moving shots.
For post-production we will need to have a fast-processing computer than will allow us to make decisions and edit the footage we have shot.
If possible we would like to use free-space on the campus, whether a free classroom or a studio to shoot some of the scenes.
Summary: The product will be a non-linear short film which includes a stop-motion. The backstory of the short film is that a guy wakes up from a nap to see someone has misplaced their camera. When the guy picks up the camera and looks through it, he sees pictures of her and suddenly finds a picture of him sleeping. He then becomes curious to find out who she is and wants to return the camera back to her.
We have decided that the media product will be distributed on a media platform.
Either a website or on YouTube. We thought this was a suitable platform to view our product because YouTube is accessible to our target audience which are young teenagers around the ages of 14-19.
Therefore makes it easier to share across different social networks and media platforms as our target audience is young and technology savvy. (E.g. Shared links through Facebook, Twitter and emails)
