2. ARCHIMEDES 'S PRINCIPLE
The principle of Archimedes: When an object is completely or
partially immersed in a fluid, its weight reduction is appreciated.
This virtual decrease in load is equal to the weight of the fluid
removed by the object.
3. Buoyant force
Buoyant force: The property of a fluid, due to which it exerts an upward force on
objects, is called buoyancy or buoyant force. This force acts on the center of gravity
of the fluid removed by objects, which is called the center of buoyancy. It was first
studied by Archimedes.
4. Law of Flotation
Law of Flotation :
(i) When floating in a balanced state, the object displaces fluid equal to its weight.
(ii) Both the center of gravity of the solid and the center of gravity of the removed fluid
must be in the same vertical line.
5.
6. Meta center & Meta centric Height
Meta center:The center of gravity of the fluid displaced by the floating object is
called buoyancy center. The upward line going from the buoyancy center to the
point where the initial upward line going from the center of gravity of the object
cuts is called the erased center.
