Eversince the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Union Government decided to bestow the responsibilities of
the two states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on only one Governor. It was speculated that present
Governor Narasimhan will be handed over those responsibilities post bifurcation following his experience
and knowledge about the state’s demography and culture.
Making that speculation true, UPA II Government at Centre during its final days passed notification to
that effect. Government Sources said “The name of Mr Narasimhan, a former Intelligence Bureau chief
who was sent to Andhra Pradesh from neighbouring Chhatissgarh at the height of the pro-Telangana
agitation in 2009, is understood to have been cleared at the Union Cabinet meeting on Tuesday”.
Government approved Narasimhan’s name and sent it to President Pranab Mukherjee and official
