3. Which platform will be most appropriate for my classroom?
The platform that will be most appropriate for my classroom will be Windows. Our school uses
Microsoft OneDrive for students to upload documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and images.
By using Microsoft OneDrive, our students are able to store all of their work on a “cloud”, so
they have access to their work anywhere that they have internet access. This also allows our
school to have better technical support. Microsoft OneDrive is accessible on any device that has
access to internet, so students can use laptops, chrome books, iPads, iPhones, or Android
devices, although students may have to download an app to use it.
4. How will I accommodate students who bring their own technology/device or do not have
their own device?
2. Johnston 2
Students who bring their own device will be allowed to use it whenever we are using devices in
class, provided they can easily access the material. If I notice that a student is struggling to use a
specific app, website, or can’t get connected to the school Wi-Fi, then I will give the student a
device that I have checked out for my class that day. If students fail to use their own device
responsibly, they will also lose the privilege to use their own device, and will be forced to use a
school device. I never rely on students to bring their own devices, so any student who doesn’t
have their own device will be provided with one to use that has been checked out by me from the
school media center, or provided with a partner who has a device.
5. How will I group students when I am using devices?
Typically, when using technology, I prefer for students to work alone. They are much more on
task when they are focused only on what is going on on their device, and when the device is in
their hands. However, when I group students to use technology, I either put students with
someone who learns in a similar way (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) or students who have the
same knowledge level. This allows for me to differentiate activities being done using the
technology based on knowledge level or learning type rather easily.
