This lens is one monster that produces sharp images, and is it worthy to be throned the king of landscape lenses? http://xlightphotography.com/nikon-16-35mm-f4-g-review/

4. THE SPECS
• Filter size: 77mm
• Weight: 680g
• Elements: 17 elements in 12 groups
• Close focus: 29cm
• Angle of view: 107° diagonal on full frame.
• Min/Max aperture: 4/22
4
5. FIRST IMPRESSIONS
• Gold ring!
• Is a f/4 lens… But not an issue since it has
VR and is a primary landscape lens.
• More plastic than metal, but very well built.
• Definitely has the quality of a gold ring
lens.
5
6. BUILD
• Front element sinks – Be sure to use a
filter to protect the front element.
• This lens feels strangely light with so many
elements. But still very well built.
• Still in one piece after years of usage –
This lens has build quality and good
weather sealing.
6
7. AUTO-FOCUS
• Auto-focus is fast, accurate and smooth.
• No trouble with it for years.
• Is 99% spot on accurate.
• The only few times it struggled is in low
light, which some AF assist lights did the
magic.
7
8. IMAGE QUALITY
• Seems to hit the sweet spot around f/8 to
f/11.
• Even at wide open, this lens is still sharp.
• Even at f/22, this lens is still spitting out
quality!
• A beast that just works.
• Distortion at 16mm but goes away at
35mm.

9. THE GOOD
▰ Solid build and weather sealed…
at least it is weather resistant.
▰ Smooth mechanics, autofocus
and zoom.
▰ Sharp. Very sharp and amazing
optical quality.
▰ VR is useful in low light
conditions, and when you cannot
deploy the tripod.
9
THE BAD
▰ The distortion at 16mm is
annoying, but it can be fixed in
Photoshop.
▰ Slightly soft corners at wide open.
▰ Personally, I don’t like the moving
front element.
▰ That’s it. Nothing much to
complain about.
