1. Fantastic New Wool Workshops and Courses from World of Wool
World of Wool are now offering a fantastic selection of workshops
and courses in their factory shop! It's the ideal location to learn
about felting, spinning and all things fibre as you have a fantastic
view of the busy factory floor, and have access to a huge
selection of products.
Courses include:
Beginners Handspinning Workshop
The beginners Handspinning Workshop will take place on
Wednesday 6 February 2013, at 9.30am - 4pm.
Diane Fisher will be teaching a beginners handspinning workshop,
working with British sheep breeds.
You can choose from a variety of natural shades, or for a splash of colour, the dyed Shetland or
Blue Faced Leicester ranges.The day will cover basic spinning techniques and plying - aiming to
finish with one or more skeins of your own handspun yarn!
All equipment will be provided, however if you have your own spinning wheel please bring it
along.

The Book Of British Wool
The Book Of British Wool course is on Friday 1 March 2013, at
9.30am - 4pm. You will explore British wool types through felt and
create a unique felted sample book.
For historical reasons Britain has the widest range of sheep breeds
and wool types of any country. In this workshop we will explore
these various British wool types, learning about their history and
development along the way. Our finished felt samples will be
made into a British wool reference book to be treasured.
2. Ellie Langley is a specialist in British wools, with MA History and MA Landscape and Environmental
Arts. She is an experienced feltmaking tutor and a smallholder with her own varied and
cherished flock of sheep. The course will be £35 per person including lunch.

An Introduction to Creative Hand Weaving
The course will take place on Tuesday 16 April 2013, 9.30am-4pm.
Once you have decided on an image to use and what part of the
image you want to weave, you will choose fibres to represent the
feeling and mood of your image.
Experienced tutor Janet Ravenscroft will show you winding
techniques to help to decide on the blend of colours that you will
use.
Then, using a pre-warped loom, you will be shown how to weave and to translate your wool
winding into basic weave to create your own weaving. You will also be shown how to finish off
your weaving by knotting and decoration.
The course is £35 per person including lunch (max. of 10 people).
