The Evil Ears of Eve- Gen 3:6-9
1. The Evil Ears of Eve
From the beginning of the Bible to the end, man
is told to believe God’s word, to the exclusion of
having to prove it.
Eve already knew good and evil.
Good- Don’t eat of that tree
Evil- Eat of that tree
What she didn’t have was a Why or an
experience on which to base this law, none was
needed.
Gen 3:6-9
6 And when the woman
saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was pleasant to the eyes,
and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
she took of the fruit thereof,
and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with her;
and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened,
and they knew that they were naked;
2. and they sewed fig leaves together,
and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God
walking in the garden in the cool of the day:
and Adam and his wife hid themselves
from the presence of the LORD God
amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam,
and said unto him,
Where art thou?

6 …the woman saw that the tree was good for
food…
If she was seeing this tree as good for food;
She is blind and doesn’t know it.
You have a conversation with those you
accept, and you hide from those you reject.
When you start to skip Bible reading (God
talking to man),
You will no longer want to hear preaching
(man talking about God),
3. You will change your radio stations,
And your TV habits,
Your ears are not dull of hearing;
they are tuned in to something else.
Eve’s conversation with the Devil has
convinced her that a small compromise will
make her more godly.
Gen 3:5
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,
then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as
gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good
for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a
tree to be desired to make one wise…
She wasn’t trying to be the Devil, she was
trying to be a new and improved God, by
acting like the Devil.
II. Minute Compromise
6 …she took of the fruit thereof,
4. Just one little fruit can’t hurt; it’s not like
she is taking a bushel basket of it or
anything.
She didn’t set out to plant a grove of these
trees…
but that one sin has been the only tree this
earth can produce, from then till now.
III. Motivation of Mischief
Gen 3:6
…did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her;
and he did eat.
She wouldn’t be a witness for God against
the Devil;
So, now she has sold out as an evangelist
for evil.
Prov 4:16 For they sleep not, except they have
done mischief; and their sleep is taken away,
unless they cause some to fall.
John 10:5
5. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee
from him: for they know not the voice of
strangers.
Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed
what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it
shall be measured to you: and unto you that
hear shall more be given.
“with what measure ye mete”
According to the measure of your ability
and diligence as hearers,
ye shall receive instruction,
and be enabled to preach to others.
Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for
whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and
whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken
even that which he seemeth to have.
“How ye hear”
How did you come to that thought?
Is your hearing based on greed for self-
serving instruction?
2Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will
not endure sound doctrine; but after their own
lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers,
having itching ears;
6. “Sound” no mixture of corruption.
2Tim 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound
words, which thou hast heard of me, in
faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober,
grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity,
in patience.
1Kgs 22:7 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not
here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we
might enquire of him?
When a thing ‘rings true’ it is the sound
of God’s word (unadulterated truth).
1John 2:21 I have not written unto you
because ye know not the truth, but because ye
know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
A lie is not of “truth” therefore it is not
from God.
The question is;
How did you get the “knowledge” or
instructions to tell a lie?
You’ve been listening to the Devil.
7. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and
the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in
the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it.
“He was” one murder makes you a murderer;
“he is a liar” not all liars are murderers but all
murderers are liars.
The companion of a fool is an accessory to his
crimes.
John 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves
and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
“Thieves & Robbers”-
Isa 1:23 Thy princes are rebellious, and
companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts,
and followeth after rewards: they judge not
the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the
widow come unto them.
Jer 49:9 If grapegatherers come to thee, would
they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves
8. by night, they will destroy till they have
enough.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for
to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that
they might have it more abundantly.
On 14 August 1945, Anami, a general in the
Imperial Japanese Army, signed the surrender
document with the rest of the cabinet, then
committed suicide by seppuku early the next
morning. His suicide note read: "I—with my death—
humbly apologize to the Emperor for the great
crime."
A guilty conscience will drive a man to do
unthinkable things.
However, this is an act of cowardice. His apology
was directed to the wrong person and he made no
attempt to right those he did wrong.
God has a better way.
Matt 21:13 And said unto them, It is written,
My house shall be called the house of prayer;
but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but
rather let him labour, working with his hands
9. the thing which is good, that he may have to
give to him that needeth.
