Forgiveness and fellowship
1. Forgiveness and Fellowship
(Eph 4:32) And be ye kind one to
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, even as God for Christ's sake
hath forgiven you.
2. God and man have different eyesight
• (2Tim 3:16) All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:
• (1Sam 16:7) But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look
not on his countenance, or on the height of his
stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD
seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the
outward appearance, but the LORD looketh
on the heart.
3. Emphasis is on the obvious
• (Eph 5:10) Proving what is acceptable unto
the Lord.
• (Eph 5:11) And have no fellowship with the
unfruitful works of darkness, but rather
reprove them.
• (Matt 3:8) Bring forth therefore fruits meet
for repentance:
4. (Luke 6:43) For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither
doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44) For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do
not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45) A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth
that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his
heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the
heart his mouth speaketh.
46) And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I
say?
5. Responsibility for sanctification of the
body of believers
• (Prov 27:5) Open rebuke is better than secret
love.
• (Prov 27:6) Faithful are the wounds of a
friend; but the kisses of an enemy are
deceitful.
6. Evidence of action worth more than
promise of future amendment
• (Prov 28:23) He that rebuketh a man
afterwards shall find more favour than he
that flattereth with the tongue.
• (Prov 5:6) Lest thou shouldest ponder the
path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou
canst not know them.
7. • (Prov 5:12) And say, How have I hated
instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
• 13) And have not obeyed the voice of my
teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that
instructed me!
• 14) I was almost in all evil in the midst of the
congregation and assembly.
8. • (Prov 9:8) Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate
thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love
thee.
• (Prov 15:12) A scorner loveth not one that
reproveth him: neither will he go unto the
wise.
• (John 3:20) For every one that doeth evil
hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved.
9. • (Titus 1:13) This witness is true. Wherefore
rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound
in the faith;
• (Titus 2:15) These things speak, and exhort,
and rebuke with all authority. Let no man
despise thee.
10. • (Acts 15:36) And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas,
Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we
have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
• (Acts 15:37) And Barnabas determined to take with them
John, whose surname was Mark.
• (Acts 15:38) But Paul thought not good to take him with
them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went
not with them to the work.
• (Acts 15:39) And the contention was so sharp between
them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and
so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
• (Acts 15:40) And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being
recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
11. • (Luke 9:62) And Jesus said unto him, No man,
having put his hand to the plough, and
looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
• (Prov 26:11) As a dog returneth to his vomit,
so a fool returneth to his folly.
• (Titus 3:10) A man that is an heretick after
the first and second admonition reject;
• (Titus 3:11) Knowing that he that is such is
subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of
himself.
12. • (2Tim 4:11) Only Luke is with me. Take Mark,
and bring him with thee: for he is profitable
to me for the ministry.
13. • (Gal 2:11) But when Peter was come to Antioch,
I withstood him to the face, because he was to
be blamed.
• (2Pet 3:14) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye
look for such things, be diligent that ye may be
found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless.
• (2Pet 3:15) And account that the longsuffering
of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved
brother Paul also according to the wisdom given
unto him hath written unto you;
