2. Filming Technology
This is the state of the art camera that we
used to film our music video.
Over the course of the filming we hooked up
some lights to get the best shot possible when
we were filming in dark rooms.
Whilst filming we made sure that all the shots
were in focus, and thanks to the camera’s
battery life, we were able to film most, if not
all the scenes twice just to be safe.
This is the memory card
we used. Thankfully we
never forgot them and
they worked like a
charm. Without
them, the video never
would have been made.
This is the light
we used on the
camera to
capture the best
shot in a dark
room. It lit up
our world.
3. Blogger
Over the course of the year Blogger has been the platform that we use to
present our work and research.
Thankfully, the website has a broad spectrum of media usage, which allows me
to present my work on various websites but broadcast it primarily on Blogger,
which is how I used my time on Blogger.
4. Research
These posts are a few examples of the research that I did for looking into Music
Videos. I primarily used GIFS to show examples of what specific feature I was
talking about. I find this is the easiest way and more visual than posting a simple
picture.
I tried to make sure I didn’t look at just one genre, but spread the genres and
decades up, that way I could watch the Music Videos grow; You can see in the
image above I looked into the Rolling Stones, Celine Dion, Frank Ocean & Nirvana.
5. Planning
These are some examples of my post’s that I created for planning.
In the first post, I started planning the props and costumes that I owned, and I took
some photos and described why I thought they would work. The second post was
planning the target audience, and I posted a GIF of the Glastonbury crowd that the
Arctic Monkeys were headlining. For the third post, I posted the unofficial video for our
chosen song, and wrote about some of the key ideas we had. Finally I created a virtual
pin-board which had key images that related to our music video.
I varied my planning posts to keep everything fresh, new and exciting for all.
6. The Evaluations
Not including this evaluation, I have completed Evaluation Question 4 and 2. For
evaluation question 4, I created videos. I chose the video format because the
question was aimed at feedback, and I had already filmed several videos, one
being the cinema reaction and the other being people’s reaction to the Music
Video. In total, I made two videos and posted them both on different websites;
Vimeo & Dailymotion. I also made a Voki to summarise the two videos and what I
personally thought about the feedback.
(Next slide for Evaluation 2)
7. The Evaluations
For Evaluation Question 2, I created several different sub post’s, all using different
forms of media. For the first section, I created a Powtoon, as I found it to be a very
simple way to present an idea whilst allowing me to use images and animation in
a professional manner. Much like this presentation.
For the next section I posted a YouTube video for the Audience Feedback question
with my good friend, David Lynn. It made sense to make a video as you could hear
our voices and emotion. For the questions on synergy I created images to show
the similarities through synergy as simply as possible.
8. Websites
There have been a variety of websites myself and the group have made to
promote ourselves and reach our target audience. The YouTube account was made
by Stephen and it makes sense to make one as YouTube gets 1 billion views per
day. We made a GoAnimate to produce our GoAnimates to update our blog on
what we’re doing in a fun, yet professional way. I made the twitter account as
most teens and adults have one now, and it’s very easy to get your music and
advertise yourself quickly. I also made the Vimeo account to post videos such as
Evaluation Question 4 and the Cinema Reaction.
9. Apps
This is Group 10’s Instagram account. It was
created by Maria and was made to reach our
target audience through their phones as 99% of
people own mobile phones now, but more
specifically, the majority of our target audience
(teens and young adults) own iPhones; which
Instagram was initially made for.
By making this we could post photos of the group,
updates and tour dates, as a lot of music artists
are doing so now.
The hashtag #wavinglady / #thejewellers /
#ohsandra could also have been developed to
allow fans to find each other by searching key
words.
This would also allow the fans to connect to the
band on a closer level, and make The Jewellers
seem more modern and up to date with key
trends
10. Websites Used for Research
I used a lot of websites when I did my research. Because I
created a lot of GIF sets and Photo sets, Google was the main
search engine, and Google Images was the best.
I used YouTube to watch music videos and download videos
to convert and create into GIFS.
I used Wikipedia to search facts and figures about the Arctic
Monkeys and diamonds, just so I had some background
knowledge.
These are examples of the images I
produced using Google with the help of
Wikipedia. By searching the Band’s
discography I googled the album covers
and created these pieces of art. Da Vinci
11. Using Photoshop
These are some examples of the things I’ve made on Photoshop; research into
indie bands, examples of synergy and the evolution of my digipak. I used little
editing for the bands albums, I just put them all together to show the other bands
evolution of artwork. I updated the blog on the groups editing and filming by
taking photos and turning them into polaroid's as I found it looked much more
interesting. I created some potential fake merch with T-Shirts and mugs and I
experimented with potential album and poster digipaks.
12. Using Photoshop
Here is my finished digipak and advert
that I made on photoshop. I took a
picture that Maria took of the band
against a wall, turned it black and white
and replaced our faces with the masks.
Unfortunately I couldn’t use the masks
as I didn’t have copyright (see voki for
full details) so I replaced the masks with
the fingerprint to keep the synergy
flowing.
The bottom images is the evolution of
the advert that I made. As you can see,
after the photo was taken I could create
the criminal theme I wanted and I think
it improved a lot. (final advert is above)
Photoshop was a great tool to use for
this project, however, when I say
photoshop I don’t mean elements
because that is awful and not helpful
and just a bad program in general.
13. Word Cloud
The words vary from media centred subjects, to the group in
general, but they all come together and that’s what I loved about
this media platform and why I used it.
I created this Word Cloud
whilst doing research and
planning. I found that I
was taking in a lot of
information and words
were coming in and out
of my head, and I just had
nowhere to put them.
That was, until I found
Word Cloud. This
fantastic piece of media
allowed me to put all the
key words I wanted down
in a text box and boom,
a beautiful cloud of
words was created.
14. Timetoast
Timetoast allowed me to see the schedule of
the group virtually instead of on paper. By
doing this we could all see when and where
we were going without fear of loosing the
paper or not getting the text.
It was an efficient method of organization and
I liked it but I don’t like the name at all.
15. Presentation Technology
When we were in class, scanning our
brains for ideas, we created storyboards.
Of course they were rough ideas, some
stuck for the finishing product, some
unfortunately didn’t; however, with the
help of Maria’s illustrations, a Quark
Storyboard and an Animatic were created.
Both helped the class visualize what our
ideas were in the Pitch and gave the group
some direction to go in.
The pitch was delivered to the class and
was extremely successful.
That particular slide was on costume and
with the help of animations we could
show the class images and movement
which livened up our slides.
Unfortunately I cannot link a Vimeo video on PowerPoint
