Cinderella, an Ugly sister and of course Prince Charming!!
A week later it was Granma, “You can be Cinderella and do all the work!! We
are hungry and want to be feed then you can dress up and go out with Poppa!!”
Intention for Presentation;
Look at Traditional tales
Why they are important?
Why are we still using them?
How do they fit into a digital environment?
What higher thinking can be engaged in when using
traditional tales at a junior level?
What messages do
Fairy Tales give us?
                  Thanks to all the

Mother Pig Receives an email letter from her son Patrick.

Dear Mother Pig,
Im writing to tell you that the big brown wolf
you warned us about has been seen
hanging around Tatuanui. I have not seen
Paul for weeks and I think the big bad wolf
must have got him. I’ve made lots of friends
at school
I’m very sad.
Your loving son Patrick xxxx
Dear Peter,
Please say thank you to those lovely children at Tatuanui School for looking
after you. I can not come and look after you.

I’d come for a visit but, my back is hurting and I have a really bad flu.
Can’t call on the phone as I’ve no money on my phone card.

Did you kids take the piggy bank from under my bed to buy those smothees
the day you left?

I know you will be looking out for Paul. He is still such a baby.

Has Percy returned from his visit to Granma?
I do miss you all so much.

If you get a chance Id love to hear from you
Lots of Piggy kisses.

A Glass Slipper Tale
Once upon a time there was a big giant.
He lived in a castle way up beyond the white and grey
spongy clouds.
One dark evening he slid down his thick bean stalk He
was feeling hungry. A rumble like thunder was heard by
Cinderella.
Cinderella was busy with the handsome Prince trying on
the glass slipper with the angry ugly sisters.

  Ignore it Follow the noise.
Jamal and Rhys

Cinderella followed the noise and found Rumplestitskin
crying because he was lost in the soft bushes under the
 forest trees.
Cinderella ran like a girl does towards him. “Why are
 you crying?”
“Because I’m lost in the forest,” he cried very sadly,
jumping up an down calling out,
 “ Nobody knows it,
 Except those who chose it.
So I swear by the hair on my chin,
 That my name is Rumplestilskin.

                                           Don’t help
Help him
Dillon and Tait

Cinderella took Rumplestilskin soft bony hand and led away into the forest.
Jack and Jack’s Mum saw the gigantic beanstalk outside their house and tried to cut
it down with a sharp axe.
The Giant heard Jacks Mum singing, “Three blind mice,
 Three blind mice.
 See how they run,
 See how they run.
They all run after the farmers wife, who cut off their tails with the carving knife.
Did you ever see such a thing as that in your life.
  As three blind mice?

Go with Cinderella Go with the giant
Ruben and Jack

The Gingerbread man also followed the Giants noise and then
went on following the loud and frightening noise of
 Rumplestlitskin.
Seeing the Gingerbread man the giant thought FOOD!
“Run run as fast as you can you can’t catch me I'm the Ginger
bread man “ sang the gingerbread man.

 Get caught Escape

The Wolf teams up with the Giant and is taken back to the Giants
sliver spiky castle.
The wolf and the Giant make the clucking hen lay golden eggs for
an omelete.
The Giant and the wolf talk to each other and decide to team up…..

The three little pigs were walking down the street towards
Red Riding Hoods grandmothers house when they saw
Cinderella.
She was sweeping the floor crying her heart out.
Her Fairy God Mother flew in.
“ Don’t worry I’ll make it all better. Here have a jelly bean.”
She waves her magic wand, Pifity pofity pooh.
The glass slipper is fixed.

The three little Pigs climbed up the Giants beanstalk by
hanging on to the green beans to share the omelete.
Rumplestiltskin was sitting high in the leaves singing loudly so
everyone could hear him.
“ Nobody knows it, my name is Rumplestiltskin.
The big strong wolf joined in.

Cinderella went for a walk and saw Jack by the beanstalk.
Jack exclaimed “Hello Cinderella, would you like to come up
the beanstalk with me and get some gold from the giant.”
Cinderella replied “yes please, we’ll be rich!”
They climbed slowly up the beanstalk scared of what they
might find! They sneaked into the giant’s castle where the
giant was sleeping and grabbed the hen. They then climbed
back down the beanstalk as quietly and quickly as they
could. When they were down they tried to chop the
beanstalk down.
Cinderella hurried to put on her new glass slippers as she
had a date with the prince…

Red Riding Hood was walking through the forest
to Granny’s house when she heard someone
singing and decided to follow the music. Red
Riding Hood heard a little voice in her head say
“Make sure you keep on the path” But Red Riding
hood continued to follow the music. Red Riding
Hood felt a bit lost, she peered through the
forest and saw a young girl wearing a beautiful
dress. Suddenly Red Riding Hood saw the young
girl fall over and start to cry, she was looking at
her broken glass slipper…

Marius and Matthew Ch

She decided to keep going to Granny’s house
through the shortcut in the forest. As she was
walking the wolf snuck quietly up behind her back,
he then pounced up in front of her giving her a
fright. He howled “Where are you going?” Little
Red Riding Hood replied “To Granny’s…” Then
suddenly out of the corner of the wolf’s eye he
saw a black and white cat zoom past him. Of
course it was Puss in Boots! The wolf decided that
Puss in Boots would make a much yummier dinner
 and chased after the cat.

Mrs McLeod
The Marquis of Caribous had been seen in the area.
Puss in Boots had asked Jack and the Giant to say the spiky silver castle
and the ginormous beanstalk belonged to them.
Near by lived the Candyland house of Wicked witch. She had kidnapped
 the Prince.
“Hand over the Prince or Ill eat you,” screeched the wolf.
“I can change him into a little fat pig and you could eat him, she
 bargained.
“Oh no not by the hair on my chinney chin chin”, grunted little pig as he
 wandered by.
 Nearby Cinderella heard the racket.

Rapunzel and Rumplestilkskin wanted to go to
Cinderella’s wedding. BUT Rapunzel lived in a big
old tower in the middle of the forest and
Cinderella lived in a beautiful house.
Rapunzel said “I wish, I wish I had a beautiful
gown and a carriage to take me to the wedding”
Then Poof!
The Fairy Godmother appeared and granted
Rapunzel her wish. The Fairy Godmother said
“You are going to the wedding!”

Jack heard a knock at the door. He went to see
who it was, when he opened the door he saw
  Cinderella looking very tired.
Jack said “What are you doing here today? Do you
  want something to eat?”
Cinderella replied “I was on my way to my wedding
  when my glass slipper broke!”
“I’m hungry and tired and need to get to my
  wedding!” She said crossly.
Jack thought they could go visit the gingerbread
house in the forest that belonged to the witch.

Gingerbread Man
Fantastic Fairy Tale
• By Sophie Adams (Yr 7)
Goldilocks turned the corner and the skatepark came into view. Her
vision was filled by yellow tape, with POLICE LINE - DO NOT CROSS
written everywhere. It stuck in her mind even when she shut her eyes.

Most members of the public coming across the scene were asking
someone what had happened. Unsure if she had the confidence to talk to
a stranger so casually, Goldilocks slowed down. Maybe she would be able
to figure out what had gone on by just looking around?

Does she keep on going or leave?
Relief flowed over her as
she saw a very familiar
family of three bears
standing close to the tape.
‘Papa Bear’ said Goldilocks.
‘What has happened?’
‘Little Miss Muffet was
found here just half an
hour ago. She was crying,
and threatening to throw
her bucket at anyone who
came too close.
Paramedics were called
and only just managed to
get her into the
ambulance. They’re saying
she’s in shock, so I’m
thinking it was something
way more terrifying than a
spider that scared her.
She’s never been like this
before.’

Does she
keep looking around or go
to the hospital?
Goldilocks gave
Papa Bear a nod,
so he knew that she
understood, then
walked off. She saw
Detective Inspector
Big Bad Wolf talking
to the one of Three
Blind Mice and Little
Red Riding Hood.
Goldilocks didn’t
think either of them
were frightening
enough to do this.

Does she
talk to him or go
home?
The next morning Goldilocks went to get her paper from the store, and was
shocked when she read the front page. She knew the police would rule out
Pinnochio soon enough. The spider was no where near scary enough, Little
Miss Muffet had grown to be near immune to Spider’s frights. That left only
                              one suspect.

But, Goldilocks whispered to herself, The Gingerbread Man was her best
friend! He would never do this to anyone. But who would? The Fairy
Godmother? No one in Fairy Tale Land was evil enough to something like
                                   this...

Does she go see The Gingerbread Man or not?
Hesitantly, Goldilocks knocked on the front door of the little ginger house. ‘Come
in’ a familiar voice echoed from inside. She reached out and put her hand on the
gumdrop door handle. Goldilocks was scared. With closed eyes, Goldilocks twisted
her wrist. The door swung open. Without opening her eyes, she stepped into the
                              house with her right foot.

‘Goldie!’, she heard The Gingerbread Man cry in joy. ‘Goldie, I’ve missed
you so much. Where have you been? Why didn’t you call?’
‘I missed you too Gingie. I’m sorry I didn’t call, I’ve been ever so busy.’
‘Well never mind that. Let’s have some tea and biscuits’.
‘Are chocolate bikkies okay with you?’ Gingie asked her as he worked.
‘Sure’. Goldilocks replied, her mind absent.
‘So, Goldie’ Gingie began, ‘How have you been?’
‘Fine’ Goldilocks lied, reaching for biscuit.
Gingie tilted his head to the right, questioning Goldilock’s well-being.

‘I need to ask you something’ she blurted out, not sure if she
really wanted to, all the same.
                                  ‘Shoot’
Goldilocks didn’t know what to do. Should she ask him and risk
their friendship? Or should she leave it and risk her safety?
‘Did you do that horrible thing to Little Miss Muffet?!’ Goldilocks
demanded. Gingie lowered his head and looked down at the ground.
                           ‘You did didn’t you?!’
                             ‘I’m sorry, Goldie’
Goldilocks stormed out of the house, infuriated.

The next day, The Gingerbread Man’s arrest was all over the news. The
police didn’t say how they found the truth, but Goldilocks knew he turned
himself in. It was so Gingie. She also knew, deep down, that she had done
                               the right thing.

                                 THE END Back To Start
Goldilocks became too frightened of what the tape was hiding and went home.
Later, she found she was dying to know what had happened. She decided to go
for a walk and see if she could find anything.

While Goldilocks was on her walk, she came to crossroads. Unsure which path
take she sits on the grass to think for a moment.

Does she go left or right?
On she walked, following the path in the left direction. As she turned a corner, two people
and a car came into view. Goldilocks focused for a second. She recognized Fairy Tale
Land’s detective inspector, Mr Wolf. He was putting handcuffs on Little Red Riding Hood.

Goldilocks wasn’t surprised that, whatever the crime had been,
Little Red Riding Hood had committed it. Goldilocks had never
                                        trusted her.

                                         THE END

                                                                                Back To Start
On she walked, following the path in the right direction. As she turned a corner, two people and a car came into
view. Goldilocks focused for a second. She recognized Fairy Tale Land’s detective inspector, Mr Wolf. He was
putting handcuffs on each of the spider’s six legs.

Turns out that spider, who had scared Little Miss Muffet so many times that she had become
immune to his frights, wanted a bigger reaction from her. The police were refusing to comment on
what exactly spider had done to give Little Miss Muffet so much more than a startle.

                                                   THE END
                                                                                          Back To Start
Ruled over by curiosity, Goldilocks went down to the hospital. She saw the ambulance parked
at the ambo bay outside the hospital. Familiar with this hospital, she saunters in confidently.
She makes her way to the psych ward and sees Little Miss Muffet through the window in her
                                            room.

Does she go in to see her? Or does she look around?
Curious, Goldilocks ambled into
  Little Miss Muffet’s room, a
bundle of nerves. Unfortunately,
     and not to Goldilock’s
knowledge, Miss Muffet was not
  allowed visitors just yet. So
  Goldilocks leaves the room
   looks around the hospital,
   searching for a clue. Soon
 enough, after finding nothing,
she gave up hope and left the
hospital. On her way home two
 speeding cars raced past her.
Picking up her pace, she made
her way home and immediately
       turned on the news.
There had been a
police chase, involving
  the two cars she’d
  seen this morning.
   One had been a
  police car and the
   other had been a
  stolen subaru, with
  The Spider driving.
eventually Spider’s car
ran out of petrol and
 he gave himself in.

                          THE END

Once the Three Blind Mice and Little Red Riding Hood were done talking to him, Goldilocks went to talk
to Detective Inspector Wolf. She asked him what was going on. He told her stuff she mostly already
knew from the bears, with a couple of surprise facts every now and then. But one fact surprised her. He
told her that her best friend, The Gingerbread Man, was the main suspect in the case. All the evidence
was pointing to him. Acting on the spur of the moment, Goldilocks told the detective that she had done
                                                   it.

He grabbed some handcuffs and took her down to the station. There she was
charged with 3 months, 2 weeks, 4 days and 16 hours imprisonment. Goldilocks was
chagrined that she was in jail, but knew that she had been a very good friend.

                                               THE END

                                                                                          Back To Start
Goldilocks, to distraught to
do much, decided to live and
   let live. She practically
  removed herself from her
   community, causing self-
inflicted social rejection. The
 only television she watched
  was rubbish daytime soap
operas, shying away from the
 six o’clock news. Goldilocks
      had no idea if The
Gingerbread Man was actually
guilty, and if he wasn’t then
  she had no conclusion to
  the mystery of Little Miss
            Muffet.

          THE END

                                  Back To Start
One good turn deserves.... Next
Once upon a time (which is a pretty good
way to start a story) a warm spring
   morning followed Goldilocks as she
skipped down the street. With her lunch
and essential supplies strapped to her back
she was off to enjoy the day.
Screeching to a halt at the end of the street
she was surprised to find two new signs

The I wonder thought The skate
     woods park
                      Goldilocks??
Tentatively she turned towards to woods.
They appeared to be peeping around the
corner at the end of the path. As she
sauntered along she heard a song coming
from the other side of the hedge,
“Hi, Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to work I go.”
Lying down and looking through a low gap
she spied this vertically challenged person
trotting along being chased by a song.
            “That looks like fun”

                             Does she crawl
Carry on to through the hedge? Through the
                                                  hedge!
       the woods
“Hello Snow White
       welcome back”chortles
        Dopey as Goldilocks
        appears through the
              hedge.

Whoops, wrong story Or does she go along
    thinks Goldilocks with the charade?

Tales yet to be told.
“Dopey Dwarf,” haven’t seen him
in ages. He hasn’t changed a bit.”
So off she went along the path
        towards the woods.
     Rounding the corner she
        screeched to a halt.
“Wow where did that place come
      from” she whispered.

 Tales yet to be told.
“The skate park sounds fun,” she
 muses and turns towards town.
To her surprise she is confronted
by an intact Humpty Dumpty and
an uncountable number of horses
             and men.

     “Nothing much happening in
town,” HD calls, “come to my
         celebratory party.”

   Tales yet to be told.

  • 60. Thank you to Miss Harvey and her wonderful Fairy Tale Students. Let’s go home
  • 62. Fantastic Fairy Tale • By Sophie Adams (Yr 7)
  • 63. Goldilocks turned the corner and the skatepark came into view. Her vision was filled by yellow tape, with POLICE LINE - DO NOT CROSS written everywhere. It stuck in her mind even when she shut her eyes. Most members of the public coming across the scene were asking someone what had happened. Unsure if she had the confidence to talk to a stranger so casually, Goldilocks slowed down. Maybe she would be able to figure out what had gone on by just looking around? Does she keep on going or leave?
  • 64. Relief flowed over her as she saw a very familiar family of three bears standing close to the tape. ‘Papa Bear’ said Goldilocks. ‘What has happened?’ ‘Little Miss Muffet was found here just half an hour ago. She was crying, and threatening to throw her bucket at anyone who came too close. Paramedics were called and only just managed to get her into the ambulance. They’re saying she’s in shock, so I’m thinking it was something way more terrifying than a spider that scared her. She’s never been like this before.’ Does she keep looking around or go to the hospital?
  • 65. Goldilocks gave Papa Bear a nod, so he knew that she understood, then walked off. She saw Detective Inspector Big Bad Wolf talking to the one of Three Blind Mice and Little Red Riding Hood. Goldilocks didn’t think either of them were frightening enough to do this. Does she talk to him or go home?
  • 66. The next morning Goldilocks went to get her paper from the store, and was shocked when she read the front page. She knew the police would rule out Pinnochio soon enough. The spider was no where near scary enough, Little Miss Muffet had grown to be near immune to Spider’s frights. That left only one suspect. But, Goldilocks whispered to herself, The Gingerbread Man was her best friend! He would never do this to anyone. But who would? The Fairy Godmother? No one in Fairy Tale Land was evil enough to something like this... Does she go see The Gingerbread Man or not?
  • 67. Hesitantly, Goldilocks knocked on the front door of the little ginger house. ‘Come in’ a familiar voice echoed from inside. She reached out and put her hand on the gumdrop door handle. Goldilocks was scared. With closed eyes, Goldilocks twisted her wrist. The door swung open. Without opening her eyes, she stepped into the house with her right foot. ‘Goldie!’, she heard The Gingerbread Man cry in joy. ‘Goldie, I’ve missed you so much. Where have you been? Why didn’t you call?’ ‘I missed you too Gingie. I’m sorry I didn’t call, I’ve been ever so busy.’ ‘Well never mind that. Let’s have some tea and biscuits’.
  • 68. ‘Are chocolate bikkies okay with you?’ Gingie asked her as he worked. ‘Sure’. Goldilocks replied, her mind absent. ‘So, Goldie’ Gingie began, ‘How have you been?’ ‘Fine’ Goldilocks lied, reaching for biscuit. Gingie tilted his head to the right, questioning Goldilock’s well-being. ‘I need to ask you something’ she blurted out, not sure if she really wanted to, all the same. ‘Shoot’ Goldilocks didn’t know what to do. Should she ask him and risk their friendship? Or should she leave it and risk her safety?
  • 69. ‘Did you do that horrible thing to Little Miss Muffet?!’ Goldilocks demanded. He told her stuff she mostly already knew from the bears, with a couple of surprise facts every now and then. But one fact surprised her. He told her that her best friend, The Gingerbread Man, was the main suspect in the case. All the evidence was pointing to him. Acting on the spur of the moment, Goldilocks told the detective that she had done it. He grabbed some handcuffs and took her down to the station.
