Living God, long ago, faithful women
proclaimed the good news
of Jesus' resurrection, and the
world was changed forever.
Teach us to keep faith with them,
that our witness may be as bold,
our love as deep,
and our faith as true.

8. After the sabbath, as the first day of
the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene
and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
Suddenly there was a great earthquake; for
an angel of the Lord, descending
from heaven, came and rolled back
the stone and sat on it. His appearance was
like lightning, and his clothing
white as snow. For fear of him the guards
shook and became like dead men.

9. But the angel said to the women,
‘Do not be afraid; I know that you
are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
He is not here; for he is risen as he said.
Come, see the place where he used
to lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples,
“He has been raised from
the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of
you to Galilee; there you will see him.” This
is my message for you.’

10. As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus
said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going
to be betrayed into human hands, and
they will kill him, and
on the third day he will be raised.’ And
they were greatly distressed.

that the Son of Man must undergo
great suffering, and be rejected
by the elders, the chief priests,
and the scribes, and be killed,
and after three days rise again.

12. The Jewish leaders (asked him),
“What sign can you show us to prove
your authority…” Jesus answered them,
“Destroy this temple, and I will
raise it again in three days.” They replied, “It
has taken 46 years to build this temple,
and you are going to raise it
in three days?” But the temple he
had spoken of was his body.

his disciples recalled what he had said. Then
they believed the scripture and the words
that Jesus had spoken.

of Jesus” because

transformation,
and is the story of how God
is at work restoring all things,
at the personal, societal and

28. We live in a world of
microscopic and telescopic
wonder, and we need a story
big enough, and powerful
enough to match.
Resurrection is that story,
and it starts with Jesus.

describe Him to you
He’s indescribable
He’s incomprehensible
He’s invincible…
The heaven of heavens
cannot contain Him
Let alone a man explain Him

Creator of the universe, you made the world in beauty,
and restore all things in glory through the victory
of Jesus Christ. We pray that, wherever your image
is still disfigured by poverty, sickness, selfishness,
war and greed, the new creation in Jesus Christ
may appear in justice, love, and peace,
to the glory of your name.
