9. 11. In the first books of the Bible, over 300 such predictions about the "Messiah" or "Savior" can be found. Twentieth-century archaeological discoveries of hundreds of ancient Old Testament manuscripts have proven without a doubt that these prophecies were indeed written centuries before Jesus was born. The following are only a few of them:
    10. 12. BORN TO A VIRGIN In 750 B.C., the prophet Isaiah made the following prediction: "The Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son" (Isaiah 7:14).
    11. 13. BIRTHPLACE A full 700 years before Jesus' birth, the prophet Micah foretold the exact town where the Messiah would be born: "You, Bethlehem, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2).
    12. 14. What did the Quran say? O Mariam, Allah gives you good tidings of `a Word from Him' whose name shall be the Messiah , Isa, the son of Mariam, highly honoured in this world and the next; and he shall be one of those brought near `to Allah” (Sura The House of Imran 3:45).
    13. 15. The Annals of the Celestial Empire In the 24 th year of Tchao Wang of the Dynasty of the Tcheou, on the 8 th day of the 4 th moon, a light appeared in the south-west which illumined the king’s palace. The monarch, struck by it’s splendor, interrogated the sages. They showed him books in which this prodigy signified the appearance of the great Saint of the west whose religion was to be introduced into their country.
    14. 16. Eternity into Time Divinity into Humanity
    15. 17. BETRAYAL In 487 B.C., the prophet Zechariah wrote: "Then I said to them, 'If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.' So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. Then the LORD said to me, ‘Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them. ’ " Zechariah 11:12-13.
    16. 18. CRUCIFIXION Another outstanding prophecy regarding the Messiah was made by Israel's King David around the year 1000 B.C. In his prophecy, David gave details of a cruel and agonizing death which he himself never suffered: "I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it has melted within me... Dogs have surrounded me; the congregation of the wicked has enclosed me. They pierced my hands and my feet... They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." (Psalm 22:14-18).
    17. 19. HIS BURIAL "And He made His GRAVE with the WICKED , and with the RICH in His DEATH ." FULFILMENT: JESUS DIED AS A WICKED MAN IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD , as there were "two THIEVES CRUCIFIED WITH HIM." (Mt.27:38) And after His DEATH "A RICH MAN ... named Joseph ... went to Pilate, and begged the BODY OF JESUS . ... And when Joseph had taken the body, he ... LAID IT IN HIS OWN NEW TOMB "-- (Mt.27:57-60) (Isa.53:9) PROPHECY:
    18. 20. What will the Messiah be like?

He will be kingly (Isa 9:6-7, 32:1-3, 42:1-4).

He will have wisdom, understanding, power, and knowledge (Isa 11:2).

He will come to those who repent of their sins (Isa 59:20).

He will be preceded by a messenger (Isa 40:3).

He will be born as a child (Isa 9:6).

    19. 21. Who is this Man?
    20. 22. Who do you say I am? Jesus said to them: “Most assuredly I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” John 8:59 From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that “I AM”. John 13:19
    21. 23. Who do you say I am? "Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is His Name?' Then what shall I tell them?" "God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'" Exodus 3:13-14
    22. 24. " I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6
    23. 25. “ I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.“ John 8:12 " I am the resurrection and the life. The person who believes in me, even though he dies, will live.” John 11:25
    24. 26. " I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.“ John 6:51
    25. 27. " I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.” John 6:35
    26. 28. “ I am the gate for the sheep,” John 10.7 “ I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. John 10:9
    27. 29. " I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” John 10:11 " I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,” John 10:14
    28. 30. “ I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without me.” John 15:5
    29. 31. HE IS NOT OF THIS WORLD- HE IS DIVINE ! Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm .” John 18:36 And He was saying to them, "You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. John 8:23 "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ” John 17:14
    30. 32. Who is this Man? Compared to others? Why is He unique?
    31. 33. 32. 34. 33. 35. Where do they point to?

Jesus pointed to himself

Socrates: “to wait for some greater teacher who would tell us how we were to conduct ourselves before God” Buddha – “Be a lamp unto yourself and a refuge unto yourself” Confucius- the great reformer of the orient- repeated disclaimed “ How dare I?” rank myself with the sage and the man of perfect virtue They all point to an ideal outside themselves.

    41. 45.

CCC 2116 :

All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future. Consulting horoscopes , astrology , palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

    42. 46.

And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
