Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP) Model The Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP) Model was generated in 1985 and published in 1991. Development of this model was a response to need for more occupational based models over the paradigm shift. (Christiansen & Baum, 1991, 1997; Christiansen et al., 2005). It is envisioned that although there are some similarities with other models, yet different from other models in terms of its focus on occupational performance and participation, as well as using a top-down approach (Christiansen et al., 2005). The PEOP model is defined as a system model that looks at the function in the systems as a whole and considers the interaction over its components. Occupational performance has been received close attention in the PEOP model and contains three main components: (1) characteristics of the person (including physiological, psychological, motor, sensory/perceptual, cognitive, or spiritual), (2) characteristics of the environment (including cultural, social support, social determinants, and social capital, physical and natural environments, health education and public policy, assistive technology), and (3) characteristics of the activity, task, or role. The most recent edition is developed to provide therapists to identify the client’s enablers and barriers to occupational performance, and might be employed both individual and organizational/community based (Christiansen et al., 2005). PEOP pays close attention to the importance of occupational competency in order to attain occupational participation. Lifestyle Causal Beliefs about Obesity when categorized as ‘some'/‘a lot', 94% of participants held not exercising causal beliefs, 95% held overeating causal beliefs, 90% held eating certain types of food causal beliefs, 70% held chemicals in food causal beliefs, and 41% held smoking causal beliefs about obesity, compared to the 69% who held genetic causal beliefs about obesity. There were few associations between lifestyle causal beliefs about obesity and any of the sociodemographic or health-related characteristics assessed. Genetic Causal Beliefs about Obesity-Related Diseases Overall, 82% of participants held genetic causal beliefs about type 2 diabetes (fig. 2), 79% about heart disease (fig. 3) and 75% about cancer (fig. 4), when categorized as ‘some/a lot.' table 3 shows that there were very few associations with participant sociodemographic or health-related characteristics.(all threse from https://www.karger.com/Article/Fulltext/343793) This study is based on the Ecological Systems Theory and Family and Community Systems perspectives, which emphasize the need to consider the effects of individual, family, community, and societal factors on health and social outcomes (Bronfenbrenner & Morris, 1988; Campbell, Hesketh, & Davison, 2010; Elder et al., 2007; Fulkerson et al., 2015; Novilla, Barnes, De La Cruz, Williams, & Rogers, 2006; Valente, 2012). This study contributes to the literature in several ways and emphasizes that peers and families are important sources of influence when it comes to healthy eating and choices of activities in young adolescents. Specifically, adolescents who reported a stronger connection with their family also engaged more frequently in physical activity than adolescents who reported lower familism. The benefits of targeting the family as part of lifestyle interventions are well established (Epstein, Paluch, Roemmich, & Beecher, 2007; Skelton, Buehler, Irby, & Grzywacz, 2012; St Jeor, Perumean-Chaney, Sigman-Grant, Williams, & Foreyt, 2002). The rationale underlying family-centered approaches is that modification of the youth’s environment is necessary to change and maintain children’s healthy habits. As a primary source of socialization, parents not only influence youths’ healthy lifestyle in providing access to resources and in modeling and reinforcing healthy habits, but they also provide the basis for the development of healthy peer relationships. Conceivably, stronger family connections may operate directly on young adolescents’ physical activity, but also indirectly in establishing the foundations for healthy peer relationships, which in turn promote healthier diet and a less sedentary lifestyle. Our objective was to validate social health scales using items from two broader commonly used measures that assess mental health outcomes. Participants were 609 adults receiving psychological treatment services. Items were identified from the California Quality of Life (CA-QOL) and Mental Health Statistics Improvement Program (MHSIP) outcome measures by their conceptual corre- spondence with social health and compared to the Social Functioning Questionnaire (SFQ) using correlational analyses. Pearson correlations for the identified CA-QOL and MSHIP items with the SFQ ranged from .42 to .62, and the identified scale scores produced Pearson correlation coefficients of .56, .70, and, .70 with the SFQ. Concurrent validity with social health was supported for the identified scales. The current inclusion of these assessment tools allows community mental health programs to include social health in their assessments. Included in a broadening of the concept of health in the middle of the 20th century (World Health Organization 1949), the concept of social health generally focuses on social activities, social well-being, social network quality, interpersonal communication, social support, and social role participation and satisfaction (Castel et al. 2008). Russell (1973) has defined social health as ‘‘that dimension of an individual’s well-being that concerns how s/he gets along with other people, how other people react to her/him, and how s/he interacts with social institutions and social mores.’’ In 1957, Greenblatt pro- posed five principal areas comprising recovery from mental illness. Four of the five principal areas, vocational capacity, educational capacity, family, and social aspects of the community, address the constructs of social health. Introduction A bubble chamber is a vessel filled with a superheated transparent liquid (most often liquid hydrogen) used to detect electrically charged particles moving through it. It was invented in 1952 by Donald A. Glaser, for which he was awarded the 1960 Nobel Prize in Physics. A convenient way to study the properties of the fundamental subatomic particles is through observation of their bubble trails, or tracks, in a bubble chamber. Using measurements made directly on a bubble chamber photograph, we can often identify the particles from their tracks and calculate their masses and other properties. In a typical experiment, a beam of a particular type of particle is sent from an accelerator into a bubble chamber, which is a large liquid-filled vessel. To simplify the analysis of the data, the liquid used is often hydrogen, the simplest element. The use of liquid hydrogen, while it simplifies the analysis, complicates the experiment itself, since hydrogen, a gas at room temperature, liquefies only when cooled to -246◦C. For charged particles to leave tracks in passing through the chamber, the liquid must be in a “super-heated” state, in which the slightest disturbance causes boiling to occur.
