Venture Chemicals develops additives for drilling fluids, water treatment, and other industrial applications using renewable materials. Their organo-lignite additives provide thermal stability up to 500°F, control fluid loss, minimize formation damage, and are environmentally friendly. Venture Chemicals produces different grades of organo-humate additives for use in oil-based drilling fluids at various temperature ranges from below 300°F up to over 500°F. Testing is recommended to select the best performing and cost-effective product for each application.
2. BECAUSE IT’S NATURALLY BETTER
VENTURE CHEMICALS is a specialty chemicals company that
develops and supplies additives and advanced materials for
drilling fluids, water treatment, organic fertilizers and other
industrial applications.
Our innovative solutions are based on polymers, fibers, colloids
and surfactants derived from naturally-occurring materials. We
provide superior performance over other synthetic or traditional
products in an environmentally friendly manner.
3. Venture Chemicals specialize in organo-lignites
(amine treated lignites)
We are one of the few suppliers in the world
with mass production capabilities
We have a 30-year history in developing and
producing these products
4. CRITICAL REASONS TO CHOOSE VEN-CHEM
• Ven-Chems provide thermal stability from <300° F to >500° F
• Do not exhibit a melting point
• Little or no effect on Rheology
• Minimum formation damage
• Excellent seepage loss adjunct
• Excellent secondary emulsion stabilizers
• Environmentally friendly – non hazardous, non-toxic
6. Colloidal Organo-humates
VENTURE CHEMICALS, INC. produces a family of organo-lignite
(amine lignite) derivatives based on the reaction of humic acids
(derived from oxidized lignite) with various high molecular weight oil
soluble organic compounds such as, but not limited to, fatty acid
derivatives.
These reactions result in a conversion of normally water soluble/
dispersible humates into ORGANO-HUMATES that are
soluble/dispersible in non-aqueous solvents such as oils. These
organo-humates are black, free flowing powders that produce
colloidal dispersions in non-aqueous systems.
7. Colloidal Organo-humates
OUR ORGANO-HUMATES are a useful specialty fluid loss additive for oil
base drilling fluids. Due to their colloidal nature and controlled solubility in
diesel and mineral oils, they can be used to control the fluid loss
properties of oil base fluids exceeding temperatures of 500° F. With
special application techniques, they can be used considerably above
500° F in certain cases.
ORGANO-HUMATES also have potential utility as specialty fluid loss
additives in oil base fracturing fluids.
8. Colloidal Organo-humates
Some of the useful SECONDARY PROPERTIES our organo-humates provide
are as emulsification enhancemers, emulsion stabilizers, and dispersants
in certain types of oil-based drilling fluid systems.
ORGANO-HUMATES can also be used in special slug treating situations in
water-based drilling fluids. They can be incorporated into an oil pill and
added with a special slugging technique whereby the pill is pumped
around the hole. This is particularly useful in cases of differential pressure
sticking in pressure depleted sands.
10. Problems: Asphalts/Blown Asphalts
Problems with formation damage in
certain types of formations
Exhibit melting points and become
ineffective above melting point
Environmental
Dirty to handle
11. Problems: Gilsonite-Based Products
Have definite melting points
Can become ineffective above melting
point
Some concern about formation damage
in certain formations due to softening and
melting
Too soluble in many oils, becomes
ineffective
12. Problems: Oil-Soluble Polymers
Expensive
Some concern about formation
damage in certain types of formations
Difficult to remove from formation
13. ADVANTAGES OF VEN-CHEMS
Better Cost/Performance
Controlled solubility
No melting points
Less formation damage; reduced fluid loss
Environmentally friendly
14. Check your Ven-Chem temperature
is recommended for use at
temperatures less than 300°F
is recommended for use at
temperatures from 300°F - 400°F
is recommended for use at
temperatures from 400°F - 500°+F
