Pre-ExPurpose: Create cross-culture awareness, promote culture exchange, gain social awareness and encourage service learningScope of work:Sharing with the Singaporean children more about the Philippines and our scope of work in the Philippines. After which, children from the Hougang Centre can make handicraft gifts for the children in Philippines. This is a form of culture exchange as when we are in the Philippines, the Filipino children can reciprocate by making gifts and cards for the children at the Hougang Centre as well. Benefits:The pre-expedition will allow the participants to widen their horizons and appreciate the differences in the lives of the children in Singapore and Philippines. Also, by sharing with them more about our previous projects and current project scope, we can inculcate a sense of social awareness and promote the spirit of service learningPost-ExPurpose: Create cross-culture awareness, promote culture exchange, gain social awareness and encourage service learningTasks:This is a follow-up to our Pre-Expedition, where we will share with the Singaporean children about our experience in Philippines and also to bring back the gifts to them from the Philippines. We will take the children on as excursion to a significant Singaporean landmark/location/site (e.g. Marina Barrage, NEWater Visitor Centre, Singapore Discovery Centre).Benefits:The post-expedition will allow the participants to appreciate the differences in the lives of the children in Singapore & Philippines. Through the gift exchange, ties of friendship between the Filipino and Singapore children will be bridged. The excursion trip will allow the children to have a better understand of Singapore’s important history and cultures as well.
