• RBI is the Central Bank of our country.
• Which Controls the MONETARY POLICY of Indian Rupee.
• RBI was Established on the basis of Hilton Young commission
recommendation in April, 1935, with the enactment of RBI Act 1934.
• The main purpose of creating RBI was to separate currency and credit from
Government of India.
• RBI was nationalised in 1949. After the Independence

3. About CD DESHMUKH
• Sir Chintaman Dwarakanath Deshmukh, CIE, ICS was an Indian civil servant
and the first Indian to be appointed as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of
India in 1943 by the British Raj authorities.

9. NATIONALISED BANKS:
• Nationalised Banks dominate the banking system in India.
• Imperial bank of India is the first bank to get nationalised under the SBI Act 1955.
• The major nationalisation of banks happened in 1969 by the then- prime minister Indira Gandhi.The
major objective behind nationalisation was to spread banking infrastructure in rural areas and cheap
finance available to Indian farmers.
