• Rbi is the central bank of the country .
• Rbi was established on April 1,1935 under the Rbi act .
• Reserve Bank was initially established in kolkata but was permanently moved in
1937.

• RBI also acted as Burma”s (Now Mynmar) central bank until April 1947.
• RBI served as the central bank for pakistan until June 1949.

• The first governor of the reserve Bank of India was british banker Osborn
Smith .
• First governor of RBI who signed on notes was James Taylor.

. C.D.Deshmukh was the first Indian governor of Reserve
Bank of India.
. At present, The 25th governor of Reserve Bank of India is
shashikant oas, who took carge on 12 December,2018.
. Initial capital of RBI was Rs 5core . In the original share
capital was divided into shares of 100 each fully paid.
. Starting as a private shareholders bank, The Reserve Bank
was nationalised in 1949.
