2. Soil science presentation
• INTRODUCTION.
• WHAT IS SOIL.
• Soil is the upper layer of the earth or a thin layer material covering the upper part of the
earth.Soil is the biologically active and porous medium that has developed in the
uppermost layer of Earth's crust. It serves as the reservoir of water and nutrients and a
medium for the filtration and breakdown of injurious wastes.
• WHAT IS ECOLOY.
• Ecology is the study of interaction between biotic and abiotic factors in the ecosystem or
studyof interaction between living organim in their physical and biological environment.
• WHAT IS SOIL ECOLOGY.
• Soil ecology is the study of the interactions among soil organisms, and between biotic and
abiotic aspects of the soil environment. It also concerned with the cycling of nutrients,
formation and stabilization of the pore structure.
• ORIGIN OF SOIL
• Soil is originated physical and chemical breakdown or weathering of the earth's
rocks(igneous rock) caused by atmospheric agents or climatic condition. The breaking down
of the rock into smaller particle to form the soil can be affected by some factors.
