1. ENERGY
It is the ability to do work.
In physics, work is done when a force applied to an object which moves it some distance
in the direction of the force.
Mathematically, W = Fs, where W is the work done, F is the force applied, and s is the
distance moved.
2. WHAT IS SOLAR ENERGY?
It is the radiation from the sun that is capable of
producing heat, causing chemical reactions, or generating
electricity.
It is the largest source of energy received on Earth, but its
intensity on the earth’s surface is quite low.
Solar energy is rapidly becoming the ultimate energy
source because of its non-polluting character and its
inexhaustible supply which are in stark contrast to such
fossil fuel sources as coal, oil, and natural gas.
4. The sunlight that reaches the ground consists of nearly 50%
visible light, 45% infrared radiation, and smaller amounts of
ultraviolet light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation.
This radiation can be converted either into: thermal energy or
into electrical energy.
Solar energy can be converted to electricity using photovoltaic
cells/ solar cells.
This converted energy is used to provide electricity for watches,
calculators and cameras. But we can also operate computer by
solar energy.
5. Solar computer

In the process of solar computer we will operate a
computer.
solar energy involves the conversion of sunlight to
electrical energy, especially in solar (photovoltaic)
cells or desktop by using solar energy.
6. Desktop computer can run on solar power. They are not as
portables as a laptop but we get completely free electricity
from the sun.
Here solar energy is replaced in place of electricity that
decreases the consumption of electricity and moreover it is
economically friendly too.
7. Energy require to run a computer system
A typical desktop computer uses about 65 to 250 watts .LCD
monitor use 15-70 watts. Most laptop computers use about
15-60 watts, far less than desktops.
If a computer require 200watts. Energy consumption and
cost evaluation:200 watts x 24 hours x 365 days/yr = 1,752,000
watt-hours, or 1752 kilowatt-hours. If we are paying Rs.5 per
kWh, so we are paying PRs. 8760 a year to run compute

8. Samsung NC215S
Samsung has developed a new computer that is solar-
powered! It is the Samsung NC215S netbook and it will be
the first computer of its kind. It is expected to be
available in the US before that, July 3.
9. The computer needs 2 hours of sunlight exposure to get 1
hour of working battery life and the battery fully charged
will reportedly last about 14 or so hours. These are the
fallowing feathers the Samsung NC215S have.

Computers vary in the amount of power they need. A laptop computer uses much less power than a desktop, but in both cases it depends heavily on the types of hardware components in the computer and how it is used on a day to day basis.
