Myproducts
All three of my media texts that I have produced which consist of a Music Video, Digipak and magazine
advert do meet the expectations of a real media product and the conventions of my genre House. I have a
consistent theme across my media products, which will strengthen my brand identity.
Whilst my music video does not follow theories such as Todorov as house typically does not follow a
narrative due to the fast upbeat songs and therefore a narrative would be hard to follow. However
theorists such as Blumler and Katz as this theory is based upon the audience's needs and expectations in
order for my product to appeal to them making all my products successful. Due to my music video being
from the genre house it provides a sense of realism to the audience, as my target audience ranges from
18-21 this is the age students attend university allowing them into nightclubs where they consume alcohol
surrounded by a clubbing environment full of flashing lights, which would be represented by my fast pace
coloured shots which represent the flashing lights whilst I also feature shots of alcohol within my music
video which are all typical conventions of house, therefore it would be known for my music video/chosen
song to be played during ‘pre drinks’ which is where my target audience prepare for the night out by
having a small drink up, but also my music video/chosen song could also be played within a club as this
is a typical convention for my genre.
I believe that all three of my products relate well to my target audience and they would be satisfied
with the final outcomes. My audience would be able to identify the brand identity and spot the typical
conventions of my genre house. My target audience will be seen to have a variety of opinions upon my
media products but I feel I have presented their needs and expectations well making my product successful
reaching expectations of a real media product.
Improvements
There are some slight improvements which could be made across
my products, for example some of my shots within my music
video due to the camera first used for filming my music video
causing some shots to be slightly blurry and fuzzed, which I
have tried to edit to the best of my ability however a real
media product would not have this concern die to be strictly
professional. However after changing to a much more
professional camera allowed my shots and music video overall
to look much more professional. However I did not have time
to go back and re shoot the shots which were badly shot,
therefore I should of handled my time much better.
Overallsuccessofmyproduct
The overall success of all three of my products I feel I am
happy with, I feel all my products combined well with each
other creating a clear brand identity whilst also appealing
well to my target audience. I also am pleased with the way my
products reached the typical conventions of the genre house.

Does your product reach the expectations of a real media product

  • 2. Myproducts All three of my media texts that I have produced which consist of a Music Video, Digipak and magazine advert do meet the expectations of a real media product and the conventions of my genre House. I have a consistent theme across my media products, which will strengthen my brand identity. Whilst my music video does not follow theories such as Todorov as house typically does not follow a narrative due to the fast upbeat songs and therefore a narrative would be hard to follow. However theorists such as Blumler and Katz as this theory is based upon the audience's needs and expectations in order for my product to appeal to them making all my products successful. Due to my music video being from the genre house it provides a sense of realism to the audience, as my target audience ranges from 18-21 this is the age students attend university allowing them into nightclubs where they consume alcohol surrounded by a clubbing environment full of flashing lights, which would be represented by my fast pace coloured shots which represent the flashing lights whilst I also feature shots of alcohol within my music video which are all typical conventions of house, therefore it would be known for my music video/chosen song to be played during ‘pre drinks’ which is where my target audience prepare for the night out by having a small drink up, but also my music video/chosen song could also be played within a club as this is a typical convention for my genre. I believe that all three of my products relate well to my target audience and they would be satisfied with the final outcomes. My audience would be able to identify the brand identity and spot the typical conventions of my genre house. My target audience will be seen to have a variety of opinions upon my media products but I feel I have presented their needs and expectations well making my product successful reaching expectations of a real media product.

Improvements There are some slight improvements which could be made across my products, for example some of my shots within my music video due to the camera first used for filming my music video causing some shots to be slightly blurry and fuzzed, which I have tried to edit to the best of my ability however a real media product would not have this concern die to be strictly professional. However after changing to a much more professional camera allowed my shots and music video overall to look much more professional. However I did not have time to go back and re shoot the shots which were badly shot, therefore I should of handled my time much better.

Overallsuccessofmyproduct The overall success of all three of my products I feel I am happy with, I feel all my products combined well with each other creating a clear brand identity whilst also appealing well to my target audience. I also am pleased with the way my products reached the typical conventions of the genre house.
