4 Simple Tips To Stop Procrastinating & Start Doing!
1. Accept the fact that we have been procrastinating:
If we really want to stop procrastinating the first thing we can do is to be honest with ourselves.
Instead of denying, try to recognize the situations when we procrastinate.
We often fill our to-do list with low priority tasks and avoid working on high priority tasks. When
we come across our high priority task, immediately start doing it, instead of skipping it and opting
for an easier task. Don’t leave any task on our to-do list when we know that it is important. Don’t
wait for right time to do important task. The time is always right to do an important task.
2. Figure out why we have we been procrastinating:
Procrastinating mainly depends on us and our task. One of the main reasons for procrastinating
is that we may not like the specific task and we find it unpleasant and tedious. To overcome this
one should get into the habit of “Do It NOW’. When the day starts, complete the most difficult
task quickly, so rest of the day we can enjoy doing the work we love.
Get over procrastination by starting our day making with to-do list, then prioritizing it and taking
action on the most important task of the day.

3. Don’t be a perfectionist – Be realistic:
We often compare an ‘ideal situation’ with our current ‘bad situation’ we think that the task needs
to be completed in a perfect manner. This is flawed thinking! We should ask instead – How can I
do the task as fast as possible as long as it is of acceptable quality and does no need to be
perfect.
So to overcome this we should realize that we will feel happier when we start working on our
pending work and we finish them one by one, even if is not of perfect quality. For 99% of our
tasks, acceptable quality will just do fine!
4. Implement some simple anti-procrastination Strategies:
Plan your own rewards. Say for e.g., decide that if I complete this task today I will treat myself,
with a small treat of our choice. Notice how happy we will feel and it will help we complete the
unpleasant task quickly.
Identify the bad habit of avoiding the task or not completing it.
Ask a friend to keep a check on you. Such kind of positive pressure works and helps we become
more accountable.
Maintain the to-do list and prioritize it on day to day basis. This helps us in reminding our pending
work.
Become a master of prioritizing and planning so that we exactly know which task is to be done
when and they should be time-bound so we don’t have time for procrastination.
