Action Against Hunger was founded in 1979 by French intellectuals in response to the emergency in Afghanistan. It provides humanitarian aid in nearly 50 countries, focusing on nutrition, food security, water, sanitation, and hygiene. Action Against Hunger's first chairman was Alfred Kastler, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist. Over the past 30 years, Action Against Hunger has helped over 14.9 million people in 47 countries, working to end child hunger and provide families with access to water and nutrition.
