This document poses four questions about major events and issues during the 1960s: it asks about JFK's response to three challenges with the Soviet Union, Johnson's Great Society program and its successes, why the US got involved in Vietnam and ultimately failed, and the various civil rights movements of the 1960s and their success.

1. 1. What were the three challenges JFK faced in regards to the
Soviet Union and how did he respond to them?
2. What was Johnson's program "the Great Society?" What were
some of the milestones of this program and were they
successful?
3. Why did the united States get involved with the war in
Vietnam and why did we ultimately fail in our efforts?
4. Explain the various movements of the Civil rights Movement
during the 1960s and if they were successful.
