2. Art Kenya is home to the Mount Kenya Art Gallery which has art from ancient to modern times. There is also the Rahimtulla Museum of Modern Art. It is seen below. It is small, but it allows you to see the modern art available from Kenyan artists. Most art is located throughout the country in cafes, towns, and villages.
3. Film Kenyan government started the Kenya Film Commission in 2005. They wanted to provide facilities for screening and filming. Some shows that Americans would recognize as being taped in Kenya with the help of the commission are: The Amazing Race, the Tomb Raider 2, and Survivor season 3. They are also having their 6th annual International Film Festival in October for the 21-30, 2011.
4. Oral Literature Since the beginning, the people of Kenya have used Oral literature to tell stories. Still today, oral literature is popular. One of the first stories dating back to 1728 by Mwengo was UtendiwaTambuka. The story of Tambuka was originally told in Swahili, one of the languages that the people of Kenya speak. NgugiwaThiong’o is the first author from East Africa to have a novel published in english.He is seen below.
