Adultism Essay
When I first saw what the topic was for this week's writing assignment, I was unaware what
adultism was. I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I was
looking up what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger people. When
I was a child, I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings, rights, experiences
were not given priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I younger adults would
always say to me is "you're only a kid, you would never understand". At family gatherings, my aunts
and uncles would never include me in the conservations, they would just talk over me. One example
that stood out to me the most was when my family would celebrate thanksgivings, myself and all the
kids were not allowed to sit in the same room as the adults. We would have to sit in another room
and sit at the "kids table" to eat our dinner on thanksgivings. As I got older I began to become mad
at the fact that I was not included with the family dinner with my adult family members. Every year,
I and my cousins would try to sit at "the adult table" but my ... Show more content on

My cousin would ask my mother to babysit her children, but when I would ask her can If I could
babysit them. She would always say you can babysit, but your mother has to be with you, you
cannot be alone. I feel like in a way that is adultism because my cousin who is an adult and I was
not an adult at the time was looking down upon me and discriminating me because I was not an
adult like my mother was. I feel like I experienced adultism a lot when I was in school. I think my
teachers thought they were better than us when I was in grade school because they were older and
they did not have any respect for many of the children in my classrooms. When my parents would
discipline me as a child, I was never allowed to speak for myself or even defend myself, my parents
just assumed

Danny Hucker
Danny Hupfer is a bold, jittery, thoughtful, and coarse type of person, and he's also an hot–headed,
loud person and shows even more traits later in the book. However he learns how and why he needs
to help others, to let himself be heard, to keep going, and to stand up to and for others.
At the beginning of the book danny is shown to be a loud, rude person. Like during the soccer game,
when Danny kept roaring at holling to get in front of doug swieteck's brother "Danny screamed
again "IN FRONT!" even though holling is his friend, he keeps yelling at him "Imagine a sound
with a whole lot of vowels, and i think you have it". Even though Danny was scared too, and Doug
swieteck's brother was a bully, he probably should've encouraged holling instead. ... Show more

Part of this is shown when Danny supports holling after Mickey Mantle wouldn't sign a baseball for
him "Danny Hupfer, who stepped on the table and slowly paced his baseball–his baseball signed by
Mickey mantle–back in front of the greatest player put on yankee pinstripes since babe ruth "guess i
don't need this after all" danny said." He put his hand away from the ball, and it wasn't easy. After
which danny says "you are a pied ninny That shows his loyalty and friendship for holling. And he
shows even more of his attitude when he stood up for mai thi when an eighth grader said "Don't you
have any rate surprise for her?" and then he turned to mai thi and said, "Why don't you go back
home where you can find some? And then Mai thi started to cry" and then Danny took his entire
tray, and dumped it all over the eighth grader's head, and before the eighth grade could open his eyes
too see who had done it, Danny punched him as hard as he could and broke his nose. That got got
Danny a four day suspension, and then his parents used that extra time to take him to washington
D.C., because they were so proud of what he did. That kind of shows where he got his values and

My Favorite Time Of Year
"I see the turning of a leaf dancing in an autumn sun, and brilliant shades of crimson glowing when
a day is done". This quote by Hazelmarie Mattie Elliott describes what I see in a day of fall. The
colorful leaves in the crisp cold air where the sun shines. My favorite time of year is Fall because of
all the Pumpkins, and celebrating Halloween and I get to celebrate thanksgiving.
The first reason why I like Fall so much is because of all the dazzling pumpkins. My favorite thing
about pumpkins is Going to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin. For me the
perfect pumpkin would have a bold orange color, and it would be immense, with a perfect slender
look. Me and my family have been going to a pumpkin patch every year since I was about 2 years
old. During our time at the pumpkin patch my brothers and I always have a contest to see who can
find the biggest pumpkin in the field, nevertheless this time I won, the pumpkin I found weighed 15
pounds and was really fat with a nice sheer matte orange color. When I saw this pumpkin, it was like
a glowing spot light had appeared right over the pumpkin. Something very unusual my brother Alex
had found in the pumpkin patch was a s medium sized pumpkin that was kind of shaped like a
peanut, he had most definitely won the award for most weird pumpkin. Once we all came home
with our pumpkins, we started to carve our glorious pumpkins because we are so excited to see how
they would turn out. In like manner the design's that I

My Family
Family is one of the most important things in life There were many lessons I have learned in my
past such as to shoot gun and bow properly and that family is important. I have had some time to
reflects on my lessons learned but the one that stand out the most is that family is important. For
everyone they have had someone they have lost that they were somewhat close to them. Plus I think
that people underestimate how much they are attached to a person until that person is dead or have
passed away. Family is one of the most valuable things people have in there world. People don't
realize that they are attached to them, until they aren't there anymore at all they are in a higher place.
That is what I realized when one of my cousins died and one of my aunts. So that was a hard time
for my family and I when my cousin died one day about 4–5 years ago. Especially when I got to see
him all the time and it was really hard on our family when he died one day. That should tell people
you can lose someone in the blink of an eye because it is so easy as humans to make mistakes that
might cause someone else there life. That is why life should not be taken for granted because we are
only humans that can do some dumb stuff sometimes. But that sometimes could be tomorrow or
even today, so every time you can see family you should because you don't know when you are
gonna see them again. The next time you see them could be in a coffin waiting to be buried so that
shows how lives can flash and go by super fast. That is why no one should take life for granted they
should live life to the fullest potential. Like my cousin he was living his life until he oded one day
his roommate came in the room to see him laying down dead in his bed. Then I think I sat there for
hours on end crying once I found out that my favorite cousin just died. Then about two to three
years later one of my aunts died because of some sort of parkinson's disease. Which was really hard
for my family and me because they died somewhat close together which brought my family even
more close as people and as a family. Which was a good thing and a bad at the same time because it
brought up all sorts of trouble like why we as a family went so close to begin

My First Day Of School Essay
It is six thirty in the morning while helping my grandmother to remove all the excess water of the
newly boiled young corn; I heard my cousins and other students outside while they are passing our
house to get to school. It seems they are very excited on the first day of school. And here I am with
my grandmother helping her to prepare the corn to sell at the public market in our small town in the
province of Cagayan.
I know and I can feel the excitement of the students but at the same time I cannot stop but felt pity
on myself. Tears started to run through my face while I squeez each corn to take out the water and
try to hide it from mamang (My grandma). Only then I realize and ask myself where my parents
are? I'm thinking that if only they are here with me then maybe I will be going to school too just like
all the other students in our neighborhood.
"Hurry up my dear before the sun is up". My grandmother said.
"Alright mamang, just three more left to go and I'm done". I replied with a soft voice so she couldn't
tell that I am crying.
"Here you go mamang it is all packed and ready to go".
And I quickly run to our room to change my clothes and get ready. I look inside the cabinet where
my clothes are and try to find my nicest clothes to wear. I don't have many clothes and they are all
old. I remember having new clothes only when my cousin from Manila (Philippines capital city) is
coming for vacation because she used to give me all her unwanted clothes. Then I grab one white

My Second Home Essay
My Second Home
The wind blowing in my hair, the water softly mists my face. There is a persistent humming in my
ear from the motor. I turn and gaze over the railing, there are islands scattered in the distance
including one, my final destination, the largest island in sight. The mysterious water curls against
the edge of the boat, foamy and disturbed by the passing boat. My fingers drum consistently on the
railing, repeating a rhythmic beat. I find myself pacing the deck, back and forth, always returning to
the same location, facing the island. As the ferry boat approaches the dock, I become overwhelmed
with the anticipation of the fun that, I know, is awaiting me on this island.

I begin weaving my way through the crowd; I can feel the warm skin of strangers brush against me.
As the crowds separate I see the welcoming faces of my Aunt Sharon and Uncle Bill. I run to give
them an embracing hug. My cousin, Levi, steps out from behind his dad and I notice his wide eyes
containing a sparkle as the excitement builds inside. My parents catch up with me and more
greetings are in order. We retreat to the golf cart, which most of the tourists use, along with bicycles,
to get around. After a short drive, we reach the house. It is a tall, white house with large windows
facing the water front. The character of this old house fills my imagination with stories of an old
captain living there. I am pleased to see the rest of my family playing croquet and socializing in the
lawn. With the awareness of our presence, they happily turn and wave.
After saying hello, my cousin and I decide to slip off to the personal beach of the bed and breakfast
that we will be staying at for the next four days. The wooden steps creak as we stomp down them.
They lead us into the special place hidden away in overgrown vines, which brush across me as I
charge toward the water. We spend hours in the cool water splashing, playing and catching up on all
of the excitement that we have missed in the last year. The cool water washes smoothly over my
face and I pinch the finely granulated sand between my toes. As I swim the seaweed reaches up
from the bottom to tickle my toes and feet.

Compare And Contrast My Cousin
I have no favorites in the family, I love all three of my cousins equally. However two of them are
almost alike while one of them acts like the third wheel, just being dragged along, they all come
from the same parents but were all born with different traits and beliefs. My first cousin is named
Sergio Alvarado, he is twenty three years old. He is a mere short stout bearded looking man, who
has an embarrassing mole the size of a raisin on his left cheek. Sergio is a caring individual who is
really down to earth. He is nice, loving, and a very timid young man. But, if one does end up
pushing his buttons too far. Steer clear for he will give you a beating of a lifetime. He rarely gets
mad he just gets very annoyed when someone touches his stuff or call him by the nick name Shorro.
That name was given to him by me for not being able to pronounce his name right when I was little.
Sergio, is also a man that is fairly reliable if anyone in the family needs a ride they know just who to

admire Sergio and look up to him as a father figure, and I hope that one day I too will be a great
influence to my younger brother and relatives just as Sergio has been to me. My second cousin is
named Mariana. Mariana is fifth teen years old, she is short just like her brother, but in great shape.
She has long dark brown hair and beautiful brown eyes. Mariana or Ana for short is a kind spiritual
young girl. She makes sure that everyone is doing well. But, just like her brother don't get on her
bad side because the girl packs a strong pinch. She's very spiritual about her Catholic faith and loves
attending Sunday mass. She devotes her time to the lord and savior Jesus Christ. She hardly ever
swears and uses the lord's name in vein why, one could even mistake her for a

Describe My Grandmother
Christmas at my Grandma's is always a day to remember. Everyone is laughing, opening present and
the kids running all over. However, the best part is seeing my Grandma. Those chocolate,
butterscotch chip cookies grandma makes my mouth water with the delicious taste. We call
Grandma, Mamaw Sue because all of us kids came up with when we were younger. Mamaw Sue is
special to me because she is funny, loving, and giving. She would do anything for anyone.
My grandma is always happy to see us grandkids because we always bring a smile to her face. My
cousin Maddie and I rode a mile on our bikes to visit grandma, and it was windy. We didn't tell her
we were coming because we wanted it to be a surprise, and it worked. When we walked into the
house ,she was very happy to see us. It gave us a warm feeling. When she came over to my dads, it
was funny because she just got a smart phone, and my sister and I were saying the it was a bad Idea
for her to get a smartphone but she loved it. We also told her "What are we going to do with her."
Then one day she came over to my dads and she was telling about her day and then she said she got
snapchat and my sister and I were messing around about it my grandma was just laughing. Mamaw
Sue is funny and alway happy, I hope I will share these memories , these memories are to always
remember and never forgotten .

Descriptive Essay On My House
There is one thing that is common in most small, rural Southern towns; appliances on the porch.
From deep–freezers to washing machines, if there's not room in the house you can guarantee there is
room on the porch and an extension cord long enough to plug it in. No one thinks it's unusual as
everyone in the neighborhood does it. That's especially true for the humble, one–stop–light town I
was brought up in. The house I lived in my entire childhood had a deep–freezer on the back porch;
my second cousin, who lived next door, had a wringer washing machine on her front porch. That
washing machine would lead to an incident involving a shotgun, scissors, a trip to the ER and a
lifetime of jokes.
One beautiful late summer day, I was at my cousin's house. We were both 10 years–old so we often
roamed our countrified neighborhood together. We'd ride bikes up and down the road, explore the
woods behind our houses and go swimming in the local swimming hole; affectionately called the
Cold Hole by the locals. However, this day, we were at her house enjoying the temperate weather
and glasses of chilled sweet tea while waiting for dinnertime.
My cousin's mom (my first cousin) was in love with this old wringer washing machine. She used it
all the time and refused to buy anything newer. We had been cautioned several times to stay away
from the wringers, as it could "eat" our fingers or hands. Unlike most 10–year–olds, we listened to
this rule. Except for today.
Now I couldn't tell you what

A Memorable Moment In My Life
I remember this tragedy like it was this morning. My aunt was out of town, so I was staying with my
first cousin Andrew. I woke up fairly early for a weekend and had a cup of the best dark roast from
Starbucks in my pink and white polka dot coffee cup, along with 2 tablespoons of rich french vanilla
creamer. With my coffee, I went to go sit outside to listen to the bird's chirp, get a bit of fresh air and
clear my head for the long day ahead of me. In my cousin's backyard, they have a tall fogged glass
patio set, sitting upon the rustic wood patio. Sitting in the backyard made me feel as though it was
just me and nature herself, so put together, beautiful and calm. It was black Friday and my cousin
and I were going to head to my house for our families traditional pierogi making after breakfast. My
mother As well as other family members were already waiting there for our arrival. We got into the
car and rolled down the windows and started to play our favorite music. Once we got into the car we
were sitting there for a moment just on our phones and having a casual conversation. My cousin had
mentioned his friend getting into a car accident the month before, and we were positive that we were
going to be okay because he was a safe driver, and wanted to get both of us there safely. Andrew
soon started to drive on the way to my house, and the gas light turned on. My cousin pulled to the
nearest gas station. As we pulled in I got chills all the way from the bottom of my feet

Thanksgiving: Different Traditions For Different Holidays
Thanksgiving Traditions Everyone has special traditions for different holidays. One holiday in
particular is Thanksgiving. For example they could just go to a relative's house or they could just
stay home. Or they could eat different dishes like some families eat ham and others eat turkey.
Everyone has different traditions and eats different foods and go different places. Most traditions are
different between cultures and religion. My family may have different traditions than yours but that
doesn't mean that they are still not good.
One of the things that is different in Thanksgiving is food. Like in my house we always start out
with vegetables and cold shrimp. You may think that cold shrimp is really weird, but that is just one
of things that we enjoy the most. For the main course at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my house we normally do not watch the game. Another thing that other people do is the girls go
and hang out in the kitchen while the boys hang out in the living room. In my family we all hang out
together like a big happy family. And some people don't even hang out with their family and they
just go somewhere else or they just don't talk.
Another thing that most people do different on Thanksgiving would be Travel. Every year we either
go to my Uncle Bob's house or we do it at my house. We mainly do it at my house because it is
bigger than my uncles and I have a pretty big family. We have cousins that travel from Iowa to come
and stay with us for Thanksgiving. But we do not travel for this holiday.
But most people, they travel for Thanksgiving. Most people travel to their grandma's house or their
Aunts house. Almost everyone goes to their aunt's house, it is a really weird coincidence. That just
makes my family stand out since it is at my house. Or some people travel to different states to visit
some family that lives far away. Or they plan a vacation with family and go somewhere

Personal Narrative Essay : A Personal Experience
It all started way back in second grade. It was Easter weekend and me and my family and my Aunts
and Uncles and cousins and second cousins were all out in the desert camping. It was late morning,
when the sun was almost at it's highest in the sky and it was beating down on us. Me and my dad
borrowed my Uncle Mark's bright red quad and we took it out for a ride. We were riding at about 5
or 10 miles an hour because I was steering and my dad wouldn't let me go any faster than that. We

would call a "redneck splint" with two sticks and some rope for me and my dad's legs. 911 had been

and loaded up. The ride was long and bumpy laying in the back on the way out of the desert on the
rough dirt road. A little later we show up at a Emergency Center that has helicopter. This is the point
where me and my dad have to split up. My mom gets on one helicopter with me to go to Phoenix
Children's Hospital while my dad goes on the other. "I want to ride in a helicopter again sometime,
but not for bad reason," I said to my mom as the sound of the props made me droisy. When we get
to the hospital they did something that made me very sad. Since my leg was broken, it cause my
entire leg and foot swell up. Since that happened they had to cut my brand new pair of Avatar The
Last Airbender slide on shoes to get them off. They did some other business then took me back for
x–rays. We found out I had fractured my Tibia (right), which is the shin bone, and I broke through
my Femur (left). I had traction and surgery done, and we stayed in the hospital for a couple of days.

Kambili and Jaja both come of age because of their experiences, especially their experiences with
their cousins, Obiora, Amaka and Chima. The roles of these 3 characters play a significant part in
the novel and in Kambili and Jaja's lives. Both Jaja and Kambili start building their own identity by
choosing their own paths. The only path they have now is decided by their Father. They live with

Descriptive Essay About The Wedding
So you want to know what the title means stay here and you can see. My grandparents decided to
surprised me with a trip going to Scotland, London, then Paris. When this happened I was overjoyed
because I was going to be able to see my cousins and one was getting married when we were there.
This trip was a two week trip from Aug. 31 to July 12. Before we left, my mom gave me a visa gift
card so I would able to buy stuff. I went to go use it and I noticed that I could only use it in the
USA. When we got there, we got settled in at our family's place. The first night we had fish and
chips on the shore of the North Sea. The first day we arrived there it was a lazy and went to go look
at shops and shop. When we shopped we shopped for hours.
My second cousin was getting married when we were there so we were there for her. They had their
wedding by the North Sea. The weather for the wedding was perfect, but it rained when we were
walking to the after party where we had a fun time. On the wedding day, my third cousin, named
Hannah, did my hair for the wedding. During the wedding all of the males in the wedding wore
kilts. We walked around in four different castles in Scotland and they all looked very similar. The
castle I liked the best was the one in Inchcolm. When we were there my papa could not wait for
bangers and mash. When we were shopping and walking around Edinburgh we saw Scottish
bagpipe player.

Personal Narrative-Hyperact Or Fiction?
The fall of 2007 dawned chilly and crisp, and and sunset–colored leaves carpeted the ground. The
wind whistled through the thick forest that surrounded my grandmother's house, and inside the scent
of apples seemed to permeate through every room. I was relaxing next to the fireplace, luxuriating
in the warmth radiating from it like a cat curled in a spot of sunlight. My cousins were scattered
around the basement in similar positions, lulled into drowsiness by the soporific effect of the nearby
television. Before long the hyperactivity present in every child made its appearance, and so I slowly
sat up, stretching my mouth wide into a yawn. "This is so dull! We should be doing something
together instead of wasting all of our time practically ignoring each other," I said with a huff. All of
my cousins looked over at me, and I couldn't help but blush at the scrutiny they gave me. "What do
you suggest we do instead?" Rebecca, the oldest cousin present, asked. I cast my eyes around the
room, searching for an idea. I was like a sailor lost at sea, desperately staring at the stars in the
hopes that they would reveal a path home. To my dismay, I could not think of anything. However, it
seemed that my restlessness infected everyone else, as they started to rouse themselves from their
lethargic states. "We could build a pillow fort," Austin, Rebecca's younger brother, suggested. A
long, drawn out groan from a pile of blankets containing one of my cousins quickly nixed that idea.

Personal Narrative: My Road Trip To Florida
The best week you can ask for One day we meet our cousins from Colombia off of Facebook. My
mom was so excited when we found them because they have known each other since they were
young. We started talking for a a few months and finally my mom asked them if they wanted to
come to the USA and visit us. My mom said she wanted to meet up in Florida, so we started to plan.
I was very nervous when she said we were going to Florida, I didn't want to speak Spanish to them
because I was afraid they will make fun of me (really not that fluent in Spanish). After we were
done planing our vacation a months later we were ready to go to Florida. When we left for Florida
we dropped off my dog (Simba) at my friends and said our goodbyes to Gurnee. The road trip took
hours to complete and it was treacherous, but worth it.

Philbert Narrative
Philbert is known as a comedy guy at his school, a little school named Rocky middle school in the
middle of Mississippi. All that's on Philberts mind is that it's the end of the semester and he can go

quiet, not the average guy that likes peace sometimes, I can't go an hour without some kind of

Philbert knew that his mom was really sick so when she didn't answer he knew it would be best to

he would, at least, have a "shut your trap son, I'm busy". He went upstairs to see if she was sleeping

in his life. His mom was on the ground with massive amounts of blood coming from her head. She
was bleeding out. "Mom!" Philbert was frozen in fear. Philbert started to sprint for his mom's cold

My most memorable childhood event was when I was 15 years old. It was the Fourth of July. A big
family vacation a barbeque, over night stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the
night before me, my mom, sisters and brother packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin
house in Goodlettsville ,Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion; six
bedrooms two an half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It was
something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income
apartment on the East side of Nashville. Arriving to my cousin house i seen alot of my family

We finally came to a stop i was waken by my big brother hitting me with a water balloon. i was
pissed and i rush out the car to get him back but my mom was giving us that you better act like you
got some sence or we leaving look so we got under control. Once we got in the theme park the fun
had begun. There were so many rides big and small. Some of them i did'nt get to ride because i was
too short and they didnt believe my age. So i was mad and ready to home because i thought it was
unfair. So i decide to stay by the pool with my granny and Aunt Jackie. Which was fine with me
because they gave me money to play games and to get food. I remember almost collecting fifthy
dollars from them and that was alot of money to me. I listen to all the grown up gossip. They were
funny until they realized i was laughing with them. So they made me go play. I finally seen my
brother swimming so that was my plan in revenge i jump on him while he was under water and
didnt let him until i felt like he had enough. After while it turned into a game of marco polo. Then it
was time to go we got together we all gathered at the concenstation stand and got food and drinks.
We took a couple of pictures together and said our last goodbyes before we hopped back on the road
to go home. I had so much fun at that the sometimes i wish i could go back to that age at times, but
now i have my own kid to raise and have family vacation with. I just

Ben Cousins Essay
Ben Cousins life story is a book written by Ben Cousins and goes into his life in great detail, After
the first chapter of this story I was addicted, bens passion for football is crystal clear he is a
dedicated man who would do anything for his teammates. Bens career has been and gone, and he is
recognised as a legend. This book is high–quality and is a recommended read for other teenagers
that enjoy football and have drug/alcohol issues on and off the field. Bens career had its highs and
its lows such as his Brownlow medal, captaincy and how he stepped down as captain and let fellow
player and good friend Chris Judd take over. Chris in 2006 won the Eagles their first grand final
since 1994. Bens love for his footy was toxic and had significant ... Show more content on

Ben Cousins joined the West Coast Eagles in 1995 West Coast was the previous year's premiership
winners. Ben joined thinking since he was a rookie and one of the youngest ever to play at a
professional level he would be happy with a game every 3–4 weeks and he got just that, and more
Ben showed his abilities at a young age and got more games than he expected. He knew that if he
were to improve his game too much and start being a real threat down in the forward line, he would
end up with a "tagger" meaning he would have a harsh and hard opponent to beat to get the ball.
Sure enough Ben pushed himself to and beyond his limits to become a better player individually and
as a team player. After reading this book it has inspired me to push myself to my limits and beyond
them to become the best player I possibly can this could help teenagers with their sports and even
school work with such a big star to look up to for inspiration. Besides his double life, Ben was a
regular man playing football at a professional level as far as the AFL knew he was just an ordinary
rookie trying his guts out to exceed at the sport he loves. Bens struggle with drugs throughout his
career became a huge issue for him on October 16th, 2007 when he was pulled over and searched by
the police; they found drugs and Ben received

Classroom Reflection
Sitting here, I find myself reflecting on the events that occurred in my second year as a classroom
teacher. A year that came and went too quickly. A year where emotionally and mentally I was being
pushed to the limit. A year where my patience was tested daily by the students that formed the
community that was my classroom. A mix that was new, due to the redistricting that our school had
put in place for the upcoming school year. A year in which I found my first student of many that I
know will always stay in my heart. A student I will always wonder about: Where is he? How is he
doing? Has he continued to succeed like I know he can? Has he stayed out of trouble?
I knew going into the school year that I would have a student that was strategically placed in my
room. After receiving my class list and getting the chance to look over it, the principal asked if we
could talk in her office. I remember Dawn saying, "He was placed with you, because I know you are
going to take care of him in a way that will be beneficial to him, not only educationally but mentally
and emotionally as well. You have the personality, patience, and love needed to care for a child with
such a devastating backstory."
It was by the end of third grade that Dawn and his teacher, Mrs. Goodyear, had come to find out
why Cartel had suddenly started behaving in an erratic and violent way. Throwing chairs,
screaming, and throwing his body around were just a few of the behaviors observed. Behaviors that

Reflection On Adultism
When I first saw what the topic was for this week's writing assignment, I was unaware what
adultism was. I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I was
looking up what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger people. When
I was a child I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings, rights, experiences
were not given priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I younger adults would
always say to me is "you're only a kid, you would never understand". At family gatherings my aunts
and uncles would never include me in the conservations, they would just talk over me. One example
that stood out to me the most was when my family would celebrate thanksgivings, myself and all the
kids were not allowed to sit in the same room as the adults. So we would have to sit in another room
and table our dinner on thanksgivings. As I got older I began to become mad at the fact that I was
not included with the family dinner with my adult family members. Every year, I and my cousins
would try to sit at "the adult table" but my aunts and uncles would always ... Show more content on

adult at the time was looking down upon me and discriminating me because I was not an adult like
my mother was. I feel like I experienced adultism a lot when I was in school. I think my teachers
thought they were better than us when I was in grade school because they were older and they did
not have any respect for many of the children in my classrooms. When my parents would disciple

My Journey Of Reflection During Project 1
Upon my journey of reflection during project 1, I have realized that I value education. It's a way of
not only gaining knowledge but sharing it with others. This caused me to gain interest in finding
organizations for project 2 that relates to the idea of sharing knowledge and experiences. OU
Cousin's is an organization held on campus. Their purpose is to match international students with
one American student who shares the same interest, major, and hobbies. They encourage and
promote the involvement of students with each other to develop the understanding of different
cultures and experiences as well as creating new friendships. As reported on their website under the
"About Us" category, it says "The OU Cousins program was created in 1996 by President and Mrs.
David Boren as a way of developing understanding, friendship, and unity among U.S., International,
and exchange students at the University of Oklahoma.". I found this very interesting because I'm an
international student, and one of the most things I would love to do is share my culture with other
people. A majority of people assume negative or misleading thoughts about different cultures.
People have strong opinions and ways of thinking. That's why most international students always
enjoy explaining and sharing their experiences and beliefs about their cultures. Moreover, that is
why I believe that OU Cousins provides a great community for having a chance to educate one
another about each other's culture.

My Best Day
Saturday, a day beloved by many due to its relaxing nature. I would think a Saturday like this one,
would be the ideal day to remain home, far from the anomalously large crowds gathering downtown
for the 150th Canada Day celebration, however, I knew going was inevitable. Regardless of whether
it was willingly or not, I was going. My grandmother's sister's husband's brother's daughter's
daughter (who I will refer to as my 'aunt' (though she is more like a distant cousin)), her husband
(my 'uncle'), and her 2 daughters (my 'cousins') had come all the way from a suburb in the United
States for this day and consequently, my mother would not allow me to remain home.
"Beep, beep, beep," shrieked the last of several alarms my mother had set to wake me up.
It was the school day before Saturday and the night my cousins and their parents arrived in Toronto.
They had rented a car and there had been no need to pick them up.
Once school was long over and it was nearly midnight, I heard the ring of a doorbell. Contrasted to
the silence of the house, it sounded boisterous. My mother opened the door to find my cousins,
Eleanor and Piper, along with their parents. Both of them and myself were around the same age,
Elenor being the same age as me (12) and Piper being a year older.
"Why are you up so late Genesis?" my aunt asked once she spotted me. Due to no one other than my
father having met them previously, I was understandably surprised she knew my name. Not being

The Recollection Of A Failure In My Family
Not every family is as picture perfect as they seem. In my family, we like to take family photos to
show our growth and to get to see each other all together. While these family photos are always
pleasant beforehand, they turn out to be a total disaster. Just a couple weeks ago my family had our
pictures taken. The photos turned out extremely well, but if only the camera could see the turbulent
ride that led to a disaster at our house. There were so many people with attitudes and the atmosphere
was so chaotic that everyone was stressed out of their minds.
My first recollection of an event like this would be at my aunt Lori's house. Her husband, my
cousin, and her two daughters live there as well. My cousin is thirty–five and her two daughters are
fourteen and nine years old. We also have a black lab that lives with us as well. To start out the day
we all have breakfast at home. Which consisted of french toast, sausage, and hashbrowns. At this
point in time everyone is happy. No attitudes, fighting, or even a scent of bad behavior. After
breakfast is where it starts to go downhill.
It's about 10:30 AM and pictures are at 12:30 AM. We all go our separate ways and start to get ready
and not even 15 minutes my two cousins are fighting over a small, pink, hair brush. A stupid hair
brush. Which is crazy because they have about twenty in the whole house and they only fight over it
because the other one has it. After about three minutes, the anger spread to their mother who was

Descriptive Essay About Football
While it may not be a recognizable stadium like US Bank Stadium, Clemens Stadium at Saint John's
University holds a lot of meaning to me. While I have never played a game on that turf, I have spent
many Saturdays cheering on the Johnnies, playing catch with my cousins and uncles, and helping
out on the sidelines with the Chain Gang crew. These long days in the sun, rain, and snow are some
of the most memorable of my life. Clemens Stadium means more than football to me. I have learned
about perseverance and not giving up when things seem impossible. One game in particular stands
out in my mind. My cousin Eric, a senior at the time, played on the Johnnies defense. He had just
come back from a year–long recovery from an injury, and we were so excited to watch him on the
field. My whole family was there cheering him on. The sun was hot for a game in late fall, and the
smell of delicious burgers was in the air. Clemens stadium was packed with cheering fans, and the
excitement at the inter–conference matchup was contagious.
Eric had not played throughout most of the season, due to his injury. With just a few minutes left to
go in the fourth quarter, the Johnnies needed to get a touchdown to win the game. In this situation, it
was very crucial to stop the opponent's offense from scoring so the Johnnies would have a chance to
score a touchdown. All of a sudden, my aunt and I looked up and saw that Eric had been put into the
game. Instantly, I got chills from the mixture of

Christmas I sat awaiting all of my family members in the heat filled garage that would become
much warmer as the night went on. It would be filled with loud laughter and cheering from my
whole family. It would be smelling of grandma's ham she cooked and pretzel salad my mom makes
every year. I'm getting anxious as i hear a car pull up outside crunching on the black gravel. I rush to
the window and see my cousins step out of the car, I rush to the door to greet them with a big smile
on my face. It is our annual family Christmas party and my cousins one a year older than me and
one younger rush to give me a big hug at the door. I haven't seen them in a couple of months and we
have all missed each other. My Aunt and Uncle sneak two presents into the garage while my
grandma and grandpa give my cousins hugs.
"Well hello there, come on in!" shouts my grandma excitedly. She gives them all kisses on the cheek
and then my cousins and I run upstairs to the kitchen, away from all the loud noise. We all have
three big grins on our faces when my brother comes in from the living room. He also is smiling and
takes ashton in to the garage to play with the legos. Meghan and I await the rest of our family in the
kitchen window. More people start showing up and my little cousin Kearson arrives.

My Family History
During my excessive research on my family background, I found that I had major complication
learning about my history. The reason for this was because my family was brought to a country that
totally wiped out my ancestor's culture. The only part I understand of my family history is slavery.
We started out as slaves in when first brought to America. We were originally from West Africa. We
lived in places such Nigeria, Congo, and Ghana. This was a time when we owned our land and
freedom. However, around the late 1500s, the western European culture had finally discovered our
deeply rooted heritage. They saw that beautiful land we had nourished, They saw the love within
our community. They saw the resource we provided. They realized the strength we had as a people.
Soon the western Europeans felt that needed to conquer us and our land. The wanted to prove that
we're able to conquer because of the more industrialized military they had. They forced my people
to move to a unformal land that conquered from another culture of people. So after arrival to the
new world, the European immediately forced my ancestors to change their names. They gave us our
names of our slave owners. This resulted in my ancestors to being someone's property. My ancestors
worked day in and day out in the hot sun; picking cotton, building houses, growing crops and being
housemaids. The European's would soon transition into what we know today as Americans. For the
next four hundred years, the Americans

Biography Of Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant
Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant was an outstanding author who wrote over 100 novels,
numerous travel books, histories, and biographies, over fifty short stories, and at least 400 periodical
essays in the span of fifty years. She was critically acclaimed to be Queen Victoria's favorite author,
but she struggled greatly in her personal life. Oliphant's tragedies were her inspiration for many of
her novels, and she produced her best novels during the worst times in her life. Oliphant's fictional
writing "encompasses domestic realism, the historical novel and tales of the supernatural" while her
"works of nonfiction include biographies, literary histories, historical sketches of major cities and
translations" (Jay). Oliphant's life experiences influenced her works greatly.
Oliphant was born in Scotland on April 4, 1828 as the youngest child to Francis and Margaret
Wilson. Her education, involving only reading and writing, came from her ailing mother's bedside.
Her family mocked her writing, but Oliphant persevered. In 1849, at age twenty–one, she published
her first novel, Passages in the Life of Mrs. Margaret Maitland. The book was praised by many,
including Charlotte Bronte, and it launched her career as an author.
In 1852, she married her maternal cousin Francis, a stained glass window artist. After her marriage,
she began writing for Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine. This was possibly the most influential
literary and political journal in the British Empire in the 1820s and

Planning A Mexican Birthday Party
Planning a Mexican birthday party is no easy task. There are multiple factors that go into doing so.
Not only does it require a couple days of planning, but if done poorly, it will turn out the same. In a
Mexican party, one does not care about the content or what the family can provide. Rather, they care
about what they can contribute to make the party happen. The same can be said for a birthday party.
One does not spend weeks planning unless it is needed. Instead, you just decide on what you want,
and ask for the help of all your family members who will gladly help in any way they can. It is for
this reason that these birthday parties are so symbolic, because they bring family together to
celebrate someone's significant day of birth. The first step in planning the Perfect Mexican birthday
party is to invite your closest family members. This often means you're brothers and sisters
alongside cousins. People from outside the family are generally not invited and are shunned if they
do attend. The reason behind this is that Hispanic families tend to have family oriented parties
because this brings a sense of family bonding and togetherness. To begin the invitation process, you
will often call one family member, who will then spread the news around, effectively acting as an
invitation for the whole family. Following this, one must effectively create a music playlist. Creating
a music playlist full of Hispanic songs is essential for an enthusiastic party. You must choose a

Personal Narrative: Moving To Tulsa
I had heard endless stories of my family that lived in Tulsa, but my 10–year–old self never would
have imagined that I would come face to face with them. Especially not like this. I spent my entire
life moving from city to city, state to state, how could my dad even think about settling down now?
And in Tulsa of all places? It was moving day and I knew I could not put off meeting them any
longer. As the movers scurried around the house, I anxiously waited in the driveway for my family
to arrive. That's when I saw them coming down the road, five black cars, 10 aunts and uncles and 17
cousins that had been figures of my imagination until this very moment. As the car doors swung
open, my mind immediately pictured a clown car as I watched the people pour out of the car.
Although everything I had heard made them seem crazy, my heart was racing as I felt a sense of

Analysis Of My Cousin Vinny
The movie My Cousin Vinny follows two young men, Bill and Stan, as they embark on their
journey to UCLA. Along the way, they become hungry and decide to stop at the Sack Of Suds, an
unassuming little convenience store in Alabama, to buy a few refreshments. After leaving the store,
Bill discovers that he has accidentally forgotten to pay for a can of tuna. Soon following his
realization, the men get pulled over by a cop and are arrested. After a short interrogation by the
police, Stan confesses to what he thinks is shoplifting. However, it is quickly realized that their
charges are much more serious than that and the boys now face the ultimate capital punishment,
death. As it turns out, shortly after they left the Sack of Suds, the store clerk was murdered. Having
been the last persons seen at the crime scene, Stan and Bill are now the number one suspects in the
clerk's murder. Unable to afford a lawyer, they enlist the help of Bill's cousin, Vinny Gambini.
Vinny is not your average lawyer, though, as an injury attorney who has only been at work for six
weeks, has never been to trial, and, who, took six attempts to pass the bar, odds aren't in his favor
for winning a murder trial. Following their interrogation and arrest, Bill and Stan attend the pre–trial
procedures. Stan is being formally charged with accessory to murder in the first–degree, while Bill
is charged with first–degree murder. At the arraignment, the judge begins by asking Vinny (the
defense) how his clients

It Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
"It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"
Throughout the year, there are many occasions that bring my family together to celebrate. We
celebrate birthdays, baptisms, and generally when the sun is shining bright. However, there is one
holiday that stands out as my favorite, Christmas. It is a time of year "with lots of fun and cheer."
Although this statement is cliché, it is also true. It is the time of year when the world is kinder; joy
and good will are spread through the world. In my family, Christmas brings us together to celebrate
each other in love at the end of the year. It is a time when we show a little more kindness to a
stranger, laugh and commune with each other, and fill our bellies with food.
Christmas is the time of year when the best of human nature shines through. People spend more
time saying hello and goodbye. We show gratitude for little things that we would normally ignore.
One tends to reflect on the blessings they received throughout the year.
They reflect on the things that are most important like family and friendship, good health, and well–
being. Generally even the shrewdest and grouchiest person, is slightly nicer during this time of year.
Strangers give to charities and homeless shelters. People give their time by volunteering in soup
kitchens and hospitals. Although these random acts of kindness should be displayed more
throughout the year, it is nice to observe during Christmas.
The meaning of Christmas is important to me because it brings

Age 12
Eunah met Jungkook through her cousin Yuki. Jungkook happened to be Yuki's cousin as well.
Eunah was Yuki's third cousin – Yuki's mother and Eunah's mother were cousins. Eunah was her
cousin from her mother side and Jungkook from her father side. Having lived literally right next
door to Yuki, they naturally became childhood best friends aside from being blood–related. During

It was during Yuki's last summer in the country before they moved to Japan that Eunah had spent

Reflection Paper On Thanksgiving Day
On Thanksgiving Day, I decided to observe my 86–year–old grandmother. I was with her for the
whole day. My observation began that morning when she woke up and walked into the living room.
My grandma started off with turning on the coffee maker. While her coffee was brewing she went
and took a shower. When she was done showering she went to make her a cup of coffee and then
she had a seat on the couch. My grandma told my little cousin to bring her purse out of her room.
He brought it to her. She then pulled out a bag of pills. She picked out 5 different ones and then took
them with her cup of coffee. She then took the rollers out of her hair as she sat and watched the
morning news. While she was watching the news, she remembered that the Macy's Thanksgiving
Parade was on and told me to turn the channel to it.
While we watched the parade, my cousin and aunts were in the kitchen finishing up our
thanksgiving meal. I made a joke and asked my grandma if she was going to help cook this year.
She scoffed and said, "My days of cooking are over...I'm too old for that". She then made a
comment about how she is hurting and could not stand up for long. She continued to eat her
breakfast. She ate very slow, it took her about fort–five minutes to finish it all. As my cousin cooked
my grandma shouted out pointers to her in the kitchen. She started to get tired of shouting, so she
decided to move to the kitchen table so that she could help. My cousin bought her the ingredients to

Most Memorable Childhood Event
My Most Memorable Event
My most memorable childhood event was when I was 13 years old; it was the Fourth of July. A big
family vacation a barbeque, overnight stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the
night before me, my mom, sisters and brothers packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin

Arriving to my cousin house I saw a lot of my family members even the ones that was from out of

aunts prepared the food for the barbeque. The other adult gathered around different table's playing
cards, dominos, shooting dice, and watching movies or sports on TV. I remember me my siblings
and cousins played outside from swimming; sports, danced and hide go seek anything that you
could think of for children to do. When the food was ready we gathered together and said prey and

My Identity And Personal Identity
My purpose is to show my individuality and to express myself. This is for others including myself,
to see and to remind us that our identity is very complex. My parents immigrated to this country
from Mexico many years ago and they brought along their culture, which makes up a major part of
my identity. I am Mexican American and the stereotype that we have a lot of members in our family
is true, but it doesn't tell the full story. I have a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins and I am very
grateful for them because each and every one of them has taught me important lessons that have
shaped who I am today. When all of us are together we stand out because there are so many of us
and we can also get very loud. We always know how to have a good time and we're also the life of
every party. Every Christmas eve we all get together at one of our aunt's houses and celebrate the
birth of Jesus. We set up a nacimiento, or Nativity set, made of figurines that represent the ones who
were present during his birth. We cover the set with hay, surround it with little figurines of animals
and drape Christmas lights all around the set. Then we do a rosary and commemorate the ones in our
family who have passed or could not make it. During these celebrations we always have tamales,
menudo, and hot chocolate. These foods are very important to us because most of the women in the
family get together the day before the event and prepare the food. In this time we all have time to
catch up on the latest gossip and drama that is going on in our lives. One thing that I have recently
been interested in again is the traditional Aztec dances and rituals. When I was younger I used to
participate in the dances with my mother but we had to quit due to the long and late hours of
practice. I have started to go to retreats where we spend most of our nights dancing and praying to
temples and different gods. Doing this makes me feel more connected to my ancestral roots and i
feel a sense of pride. Religion plays an important role in my life. I identify as catholic, but there are
some thing that me and my family don't follow. We don't go to church often and when we do it's
only for important events. This is because we've had bad experiences with

My Most Important Day Essay
Honestly if I were to think of my most important day, not even one would come to mind, because
when your put on the spot to think of one it's hard. Although, there is one day that out of all is clear
as daylight in my head, down to every second. I think this is due to the day being different than all
the other days. In my life, I experienced something I thought I never would. My most important day
of my life is when I finally met my older cousin Akash, while we were on our vacation on the
cruise.
I always knew my cousin Akash, but we had never truly spoke nor bonded. He'd always do his own
thing, and I guess you could say I looked up to him due to the type of person he was. I'd really only
see him at family parties due to us not being first cousins, but suddenly he stopped coming to them.
It didn't matter if it was a family get together, birthday, Christmas, or anything else, he would never
show up. This made it impossible for me to ever see him. However, then I found out that he'd be
coming with us on the cruise. To be honest, at first I didn't care much because I thought he wouldn't
associate with me much, but I was entirely wrong.
It was the third day on the cruise and my cousin had been previously with the uncles the first two
days. He knocked on my room door with me and my other cousin Dave inside. I answered, and right
away he asked the both of us "Yo what do you guys want to do?" At first I was shocked that he was
here, but instead of acting confused I decided to go

Adultism Essay

  • 1. Adultism Essay When I first saw what the topic was for this week's writing assignment, I was unaware what adultism was. I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I was looking up what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger people. When I was a child, I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings, rights, experiences were not given priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I younger adults would always say to me is "you're only a kid, you would never understand". At family gatherings, my aunts and uncles would never include me in the conservations, they would just talk over me. One example that stood out to me the most was when my family would celebrate thanksgivings, myself and all the kids were not allowed to sit in the same room as the adults. We would have to sit in another room and sit at the "kids table" to eat our dinner on thanksgivings. As I got older I began to become mad at the fact that I was not included with the family dinner with my adult family members. Every year, I and my cousins would try to sit at "the adult table" but my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My cousin would ask my mother to babysit her children, but when I would ask her can If I could babysit them. She would always say you can babysit, but your mother has to be with you, you cannot be alone. I feel like in a way that is adultism because my cousin who is an adult and I was not an adult at the time was looking down upon me and discriminating me because I was not an adult like my mother was. I feel like I experienced adultism a lot when I was in school. I think my teachers thought they were better than us when I was in grade school because they were older and they did not have any respect for many of the children in my classrooms. When my parents would discipline me as a child, I was never allowed to speak for myself or even defend myself, my parents just assumed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Danny Hucker Danny Hupfer is a bold, jittery, thoughtful, and coarse type of person, and he's also an hot–headed, loud person and shows even more traits later in the book. However he learns how and why he needs to help others, to let himself be heard, to keep going, and to stand up to and for others. At the beginning of the book danny is shown to be a loud, rude person. Like during the soccer game, when Danny kept roaring at holling to get in front of doug swieteck's brother "Danny screamed again "IN FRONT!" even though holling is his friend, he keeps yelling at him "Imagine a sound with a whole lot of vowels, and i think you have it". Even though Danny was scared too, and Doug swieteck's brother was a bully, he probably should've encouraged holling instead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He put his hand away from the ball, and it wasn't easy. After which danny says "you are a pied ninny That shows his loyalty and friendship for holling. And he shows even more of his attitude when he stood up for mai thi when an eighth grader said "Don't you have any rate surprise for her?" and then he turned to mai thi and said, "Why don't you go back home where you can find some? And then Mai thi started to cry" and then Danny took his entire tray, and dumped it all over the eighth grader's head, and before the eighth grade could open his eyes too see who had done it, Danny punched him as hard as he could and broke his nose. That got got Danny a four day suspension, and then his parents used that extra time to take him to washington D.C., because they were so proud of what he did. • 3. My Favorite Time Of Year "I see the turning of a leaf dancing in an autumn sun, and brilliant shades of crimson glowing when a day is done". This quote by Hazelmarie Mattie Elliott describes what I see in a day of fall. The colorful leaves in the crisp cold air where the sun shines. My favorite time of year is Fall because of all the Pumpkins, and celebrating Halloween and I get to celebrate thanksgiving. The first reason why I like Fall so much is because of all the dazzling pumpkins. My favorite thing about pumpkins is Going to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin. For me the perfect pumpkin would have a bold orange color, and it would be immense, with a perfect slender look. Me and my family have been going to a pumpkin patch every year since I was about 2 years old. During our time at the pumpkin patch my brothers and I always have a contest to see who can find the biggest pumpkin in the field, nevertheless this time I won, the pumpkin I found weighed 15 pounds and was really fat with a nice sheer matte orange color. When I saw this pumpkin, it was like a glowing spot light had appeared right over the pumpkin. Something very unusual my brother Alex had found in the pumpkin patch was a s medium sized pumpkin that was kind of shaped like a peanut, he had most definitely won the award for most weird pumpkin. Once we all came home with our pumpkins, we started to carve our glorious pumpkins because we are so excited to see how they would turn out. In like manner the design's that I ... • 4. My Family Family is one of the most important things in life There were many lessons I have learned in my past such as to shoot gun and bow properly and that family is important. I have had some time to reflects on my lessons learned but the one that stand out the most is that family is important. For everyone they have had someone they have lost that they were somewhat close to them. Plus I think that people underestimate how much they are attached to a person until that person is dead or have passed away. Family is one of the most valuable things people have in there world. People don't realize that they are attached to them, until they aren't there anymore at all they are in a higher place. That is what I realized when one of my cousins died and one of my aunts. So that was a hard time for my family and I when my cousin died one day about 4–5 years ago. Especially when I got to see him all the time and it was really hard on our family when he died one day. That should tell people you can lose someone in the blink of an eye because it is so easy as humans to make mistakes that might cause someone else there life. That is why life should not be taken for granted because we are only humans that can do some dumb stuff sometimes. But that sometimes could be tomorrow or even today, so every time you can see family you should because you don't know when you are gonna see them again. The next time you see them could be in a coffin waiting to be buried so that shows how lives can flash and go by super fast. That is why no one should take life for granted they should live life to the fullest potential. Like my cousin he was living his life until he oded one day his roommate came in the room to see him laying down dead in his bed. Then I think I sat there for hours on end crying once I found out that my favorite cousin just died. Then about two to three years later one of my aunts died because of some sort of parkinson's disease. Which was really hard for my family and me because they died somewhat close together which brought my family even more close as people and as a family. Which was a good thing and a bad at the same time because it brought up all sorts of trouble like why we as a family went so close to begin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. My First Day Of School Essay It is six thirty in the morning while helping my grandmother to remove all the excess water of the newly boiled young corn; I heard my cousins and other students outside while they are passing our house to get to school. It seems they are very excited on the first day of school. And here I am with my grandmother helping her to prepare the corn to sell at the public market in our small town in the province of Cagayan. I know and I can feel the excitement of the students but at the same time I cannot stop but felt pity on myself. Tears started to run through my face while I squeez each corn to take out the water and try to hide it from mamang (My grandma). Only then I realize and ask myself where my parents are? I'm thinking that if only they are here with me then maybe I will be going to school too just like all the other students in our neighborhood. "Hurry up my dear before the sun is up". My grandmother said. "Alright mamang, just three more left to go and I'm done". I replied with a soft voice so she couldn't tell that I am crying. "Here you go mamang it is all packed and ready to go". And I quickly run to our room to change my clothes and get ready. I look inside the cabinet where my clothes are and try to find my nicest clothes to wear. I don't have many clothes and they are all old. I remember having new clothes only when my cousin from Manila (Philippines capital city) is coming for vacation because she used to give me all her unwanted clothes. Then I grab one white ... I turn and gaze over the railing, there are islands scattered in the distance including one, my final destination, the largest island in sight. The mysterious water curls against the edge of the boat, foamy and disturbed by the passing boat. My fingers drum consistently on the railing, repeating a rhythmic beat. I find myself pacing the deck, back and forth, always returning to the same location, facing the island. As the ferry boat approaches the dock, I become overwhelmed with the anticipation of the fun that, I know, is awaiting me on this island. Kelly's Island is a place that brings back fond ... My cousin, Levi, steps out from behind his dad and I notice his wide eyes containing a sparkle as the excitement builds inside. My parents catch up with me and more greetings are in order. We retreat to the golf cart, which most of the tourists use, along with bicycles, to get around. After a short drive, we reach the house. It is a tall, white house with large windows facing the water front. The character of this old house fills my imagination with stories of an old captain living there. I am pleased to see the rest of my family playing croquet and socializing in the lawn. With the awareness of our presence, they happily turn and wave. After saying hello, my cousin and I decide to slip off to the personal beach of the bed and breakfast that we will be staying at for the next four days. The wooden steps creak as we stomp down them. They lead us into the special place hidden away in overgrown vines, which brush across me as I charge toward the water. We spend hours in the cool water splashing, playing and catching up on all of the excitement that we have missed in the last year. The cool water washes smoothly over my face and I pinch the finely granulated sand between my toes. As I swim the seaweed reaches up from the bottom to tickle my toes and feet. ... • 7. Compare And Contrast My Cousin I have no favorites in the family, I love all three of my cousins equally. However two of them are almost alike while one of them acts like the third wheel, just being dragged along, they all come from the same parents but were all born with different traits and beliefs. My first cousin is named Sergio Alvarado, he is twenty three years old. He is a mere short stout bearded looking man, who has an embarrassing mole the size of a raisin on his left cheek. Sergio is a caring individual who is really down to earth. He is nice, loving, and a very timid young man. But, if one does end up pushing his buttons too far. Steer clear for he will give you a beating of a lifetime. He rarely gets mad he just gets very annoyed when someone touches his stuff or call him by the nick name Shorro. I personally admire Sergio and look up to him as a father figure, and I hope that one day I too will be a great influence to my younger brother and relatives just as Sergio has been to me. My second cousin is named Mariana. Mariana is fifth teen years old, she is short just like her brother, but in great shape. She has long dark brown hair and beautiful brown eyes. Mariana or Ana for short is a kind spiritual young girl. She makes sure that everyone is doing well. But, just like her brother don't get on her bad side because the girl packs a strong pinch. However, the best part is seeing my Grandma. Those chocolate, butterscotch chip cookies grandma makes my mouth water with the delicious taste. We call Grandma, Mamaw Sue because all of us kids came up with when we were younger. Mamaw Sue is special to me because she is funny, loving, and giving. She would do anything for anyone. My grandma is always happy to see us grandkids because we always bring a smile to her face. My cousin Maddie and I rode a mile on our bikes to visit grandma, and it was windy. We didn't tell her we were coming because we wanted it to be a surprise, and it worked. When we walked into the house ,she was very happy to see us. It gave us a warm feeling. When she came over to my dads, it was funny because she just got a smart phone, and my sister and I were saying the it was a bad Idea for her to get a smartphone but she loved it. We also told her "What are we going to do with her." Then one day she came over to my dads and she was telling about her day and then she said she got snapchat and my sister and I were messing around about it my grandma was just laughing. • 9. Descriptive Essay On My House There is one thing that is common in most small, rural Southern towns; appliances on the porch. From deep–freezers to washing machines, if there's not room in the house you can guarantee there is room on the porch and an extension cord long enough to plug it in. No one thinks it's unusual as everyone in the neighborhood does it. That's especially true for the humble, one–stop–light town I was brought up in. The house I lived in my entire childhood had a deep–freezer on the back porch; my second cousin, who lived next door, had a wringer washing machine on her front porch. That washing machine would lead to an incident involving a shotgun, scissors, a trip to the ER and a lifetime of jokes. One beautiful late summer day, I was at my cousin's house. We were both 10 years–old so we often roamed our countrified neighborhood together. We'd ride bikes up and down the road, explore the woods behind our houses and go swimming in the local swimming hole; affectionately called the Cold Hole by the locals. However, this day, we were at her house enjoying the temperate weather and glasses of chilled sweet tea while waiting for dinnertime. My cousin's mom (my first cousin) was in love with this old wringer washing machine. She used it all the time and refused to buy anything newer. We had been cautioned several times to stay away from the wringers, as it could "eat" our fingers or hands. Unlike most 10–year–olds, we listened to this rule. Except for today. Now I couldn't tell you what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. A Memorable Moment In My Life I remember this tragedy like it was this morning. My aunt was out of town, so I was staying with my first cousin Andrew. I woke up fairly early for a weekend and had a cup of the best dark roast from Starbucks in my pink and white polka dot coffee cup, along with 2 tablespoons of rich french vanilla creamer. With my coffee, I went to go sit outside to listen to the bird's chirp, get a bit of fresh air and clear my head for the long day ahead of me. In my cousin's backyard, they have a tall fogged glass patio set, sitting upon the rustic wood patio. Sitting in the backyard made me feel as though it was just me and nature herself, so put together, beautiful and calm. It was black Friday and my cousin and I were going to head to my house for our families traditional pierogi making after breakfast. My mother As well as other family members were already waiting there for our arrival. We got into the car and rolled down the windows and started to play our favorite music. Once we got into the car we were sitting there for a moment just on our phones and having a casual conversation. My cousin had mentioned his friend getting into a car accident the month before, and we were positive that we were going to be okay because he was a safe driver, and wanted to get both of us there safely. Andrew soon started to drive on the way to my house, and the gas light turned on. My cousin pulled to the nearest gas station. As we pulled in I got chills all the way from the bottom of my feet ... • 11. Thanksgiving: Different Traditions For Different Holidays Thanksgiving Traditions Everyone has special traditions for different holidays. One holiday in particular is Thanksgiving. For example they could just go to a relative's house or they could just stay home. Or they could eat different dishes like some families eat ham and others eat turkey. Everyone has different traditions and eats different foods and go different places. Most traditions are different between cultures and religion. My family may have different traditions than yours but that doesn't mean that they are still not good. One of the things that is different in Thanksgiving is food. Like in my house we always start out with vegetables and cold shrimp. You may think that cold shrimp is really weird, but that is just one of things that we enjoy the most. For the main course at ... Every year we either go to my Uncle Bob's house or we do it at my house. We mainly do it at my house because it is bigger than my uncles and I have a pretty big family. We have cousins that travel from Iowa to come and stay with us for Thanksgiving. But we do not travel for this holiday. But most people, they travel for Thanksgiving. Most people travel to their grandma's house or their Aunts house. Almost everyone goes to their aunt's house, it is a really weird coincidence. • 12. Personal Narrative Essay : A Personal Experience It all started way back in second grade. It was Easter weekend and me and my family and my Aunts and Uncles and cousins and second cousins were all out in the desert camping. It was late morning, when the sun was almost at it's highest in the sky and it was beating down on us. Me and my dad borrowed my Uncle Mark's bright red quad and we took it out for a ride. We were riding at about 5 or 10 miles an hour because I was steering and my dad wouldn't let me go any faster than that. We here someone else coming around the corner so I find a clearing and pull all the way off the road. When the ambulance got there, we were put on stretchers and loaded up. The ride was long and bumpy laying in the back on the way out of the desert on the rough dirt road. A little later we show up at a Emergency Center that has helicopter. This is the point where me and my dad have to split up. My mom gets on one helicopter with me to go to Phoenix Children's Hospital while my dad goes on the other. "I want to ride in a helicopter again sometime, but not for bad reason," I said to my mom as the sound of the props made me droisy. When we get to the hospital they did something that made me very sad. Since my leg was broken, it cause my entire leg and foot swell up. Since that happened they had to cut my brand new pair of Avatar The Last Airbender slide on shoes to get them off. They did some other business then took me back for x–rays. We found out I had fractured my Tibia (right), which is the shin bone, and I broke through my Femur (left). I had traction and surgery done, and we stayed in the hospital for a couple of days. My grandparents decided to surprised me with a trip going to Scotland, London, then Paris. When this happened I was overjoyed because I was going to be able to see my cousins and one was getting married when we were there. This trip was a two week trip from Aug. 31 to July 12. Before we left, my mom gave me a visa gift card so I would able to buy stuff. I went to go use it and I noticed that I could only use it in the USA. When we got there, we got settled in at our family's place. The first night we had fish and chips on the shore of the North Sea. The first day we arrived there it was a lazy and went to go look at shops and shop. When we shopped we shopped for hours. My second cousin was getting married when we were there so we were there for her. They had their wedding by the North Sea. The weather for the wedding was perfect, but it rained when we were walking to the after party where we had a fun time. On the wedding day, my third cousin, named Hannah, did my hair for the wedding. During the wedding all of the males in the wedding wore kilts. We walked around in four different castles in Scotland and they all looked very similar. The castle I liked the best was the one in Inchcolm. When we were there my papa could not wait for bangers and mash. When we were shopping and walking around Edinburgh we saw Scottish bagpipe player. • 15. Personal Narrative-Hyperact Or Fiction? The fall of 2007 dawned chilly and crisp, and and sunset–colored leaves carpeted the ground. The wind whistled through the thick forest that surrounded my grandmother's house, and inside the scent of apples seemed to permeate through every room. I was relaxing next to the fireplace, luxuriating in the warmth radiating from it like a cat curled in a spot of sunlight. My cousins were scattered around the basement in similar positions, lulled into drowsiness by the soporific effect of the nearby television. Before long the hyperactivity present in every child made its appearance, and so I slowly sat up, stretching my mouth wide into a yawn. "This is so dull! We should be doing something together instead of wasting all of our time practically ignoring each other," I said with a huff. All of my cousins looked over at me, and I couldn't help but blush at the scrutiny they gave me. "What do you suggest we do instead?" Rebecca, the oldest cousin present, asked. I cast my eyes around the room, searching for an idea. I was like a sailor lost at sea, desperately staring at the stars in the hopes that they would reveal a path home. To my dismay, I could not think of anything. However, it seemed that my restlessness infected everyone else, as they started to rouse themselves from their lethargic states. "We could build a pillow fort," Austin, Rebecca's younger brother, suggested. A long, drawn out groan from a pile of blankets containing one of my cousins quickly nixed that idea. ... I was very nervous when she said we were going to Florida, I didn't want to speak Spanish to them because I was afraid they will make fun of me (really not that fluent in Spanish). A year where emotionally and mentally I was being pushed to the limit. A year where my patience was tested daily by the students that formed the community that was my classroom. A mix that was new, due to the redistricting that our school had put in place for the upcoming school year. A year in which I found my first student of many that I know will always stay in my heart. A student I will always wonder about: Where is he? How is he doing? Has he continued to succeed like I know he can? Has he stayed out of trouble? I knew going into the school year that I would have a student that was strategically placed in my room. You have the personality, patience, and love needed to care for a child with such a devastating backstory." I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I was looking up what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger people. When I was a child I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings, rights, experiences were not given priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I younger adults would always say to me is "you're only a kid, you would never understand". At family gatherings my aunts and uncles would never include me in the conservations, they would just talk over me. One example that stood out to me the most was when my family would celebrate thanksgivings, myself and all the kids were not allowed to sit in the same room as the adults. So we would have to sit in another room and table our dinner on thanksgivings. • 23. My Journey Of Reflection During Project 1 Upon my journey of reflection during project 1, I have realized that I value education. It's a way of not only gaining knowledge but sharing it with others. This caused me to gain interest in finding organizations for project 2 that relates to the idea of sharing knowledge and experiences. OU Cousin's is an organization held on campus. Their purpose is to match international students with one American student who shares the same interest, major, and hobbies. They encourage and promote the involvement of students with each other to develop the understanding of different cultures and experiences as well as creating new friendships. As reported on their website under the "About Us" category, it says "The OU Cousins program was created in 1996 by President and Mrs. David Boren as a way of developing understanding, friendship, and unity among U.S., International, and exchange students at the University of Oklahoma.". I found this very interesting because I'm an international student, and one of the most things I would love to do is share my culture with other people. A majority of people assume negative or misleading thoughts about different cultures. People have strong opinions and ways of thinking. That's why most international students always enjoy explaining and sharing their experiences and beliefs about their cultures. Moreover, that is why I believe that OU Cousins provides a great community for having a chance to educate one another about each other's culture. Before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. My Best Day Saturday, a day beloved by many due to its relaxing nature. I would think a Saturday like this one, would be the ideal day to remain home, far from the anomalously large crowds gathering downtown for the 150th Canada Day celebration, however, I knew going was inevitable. Regardless of whether it was willingly or not, I was going. My grandmother's sister's husband's brother's daughter's daughter (who I will refer to as my 'aunt' (though she is more like a distant cousin)), her husband (my 'uncle'), and her 2 daughters (my 'cousins') had come all the way from a suburb in the United States for this day and consequently, my mother would not allow me to remain home. Contrasted to the silence of the house, it sounded boisterous. My mother opened the door to find my cousins, Eleanor and Piper, along with their parents. Both of them and myself were around the same age, Elenor being the same age as me (12) and Piper being a year older. "Why are you up so late Genesis?" my aunt asked once she spotted me. In my family, we like to take family photos to show our growth and to get to see each other all together. The photos turned out extremely well, but if only the camera could see the turbulent ride that led to a disaster at our house. There were so many people with attitudes and the atmosphere was so chaotic that everyone was stressed out of their minds. My first recollection of an event like this would be at my aunt Lori's house. Her husband, my cousin, and her two daughters live there as well. My cousin is thirty–five and her two daughters are fourteen and nine years old. We also have a black lab that lives with us as well. To start out the day we all have breakfast at home. Which consisted of french toast, sausage, and hashbrowns. At this point in time everyone is happy. No attitudes, fighting, or even a scent of bad behavior. After breakfast is where it starts to go downhill. It's about 10:30 AM and pictures are at 12:30 AM. We all go our separate ways and start to get ready and not even 15 minutes my two cousins are fighting over a small, pink, hair brush. A stupid hair brush. These long days in the sun, rain, and snow are some of the most memorable of my life. Clemens Stadium means more than football to me. The sun was hot for a game in late fall, and the smell of delicious burgers was in the air. The reason for this was because my family was brought to a country that totally wiped out my ancestor's culture. The only part I understand of my family history is slavery. We started out as slaves in when first brought to America. We were originally from West Africa. We lived in places such Nigeria, Congo, and Ghana. This was a time when we owned our land and freedom. However, around the late 1500s, the western European culture had finally discovered our deeply rooted heritage. They saw that beautiful land we had nourished, They saw the love within our community. They saw the resource we provided. They realized the strength we had as a people. Soon the western Europeans felt that needed to conquer us and our land. The wanted to prove that we're able to conquer because of the more industrialized military they had. They forced my people to move to a unformal land that conquered from another culture of people. So after arrival to the new world, the European immediately forced my ancestors to change their names. They gave us our names of our slave owners. This resulted in my ancestors to being someone's property. My ancestors worked day in and day out in the hot sun; picking cotton, building houses, growing crops and being housemaids. • 29. Biography Of Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant was an outstanding author who wrote over 100 novels, numerous travel books, histories, and biographies, over fifty short stories, and at least 400 periodical essays in the span of fifty years. She was critically acclaimed to be Queen Victoria's favorite author, but she struggled greatly in her personal life. Oliphant's tragedies were her inspiration for many of her novels, and she produced her best novels during the worst times in her life. Oliphant's fictional writing "encompasses domestic realism, the historical novel and tales of the supernatural" while her "works of nonfiction include biographies, literary histories, historical sketches of major cities and translations" (Jay). Oliphant's life experiences influenced her works greatly. Oliphant was born in Scotland on April 4, 1828 as the youngest child to Francis and Margaret Wilson. Her education, involving only reading and writing, came from her ailing mother's bedside. Her family mocked her writing, but Oliphant persevered. In 1849, at age twenty–one, she published her first novel, Passages in the Life of Mrs. Margaret Maitland. The book was praised by many, including Charlotte Bronte, and it launched her career as an author. In 1852, she married her maternal cousin Francis, a stained glass window artist. After her marriage, she began writing for Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine. This was possibly the most influential literary and political journal in the British Empire in the 1820s and ... • 30. Planning A Mexican Birthday Party Planning a Mexican birthday party is no easy task. There are multiple factors that go into doing so. Not only does it require a couple days of planning, but if done poorly, it will turn out the same. In a Mexican party, one does not care about the content or what the family can provide. Rather, they care about what they can contribute to make the party happen. The same can be said for a birthday party. One does not spend weeks planning unless it is needed. Instead, you just decide on what you want, and ask for the help of all your family members who will gladly help in any way they can. It is for this reason that these birthday parties are so symbolic, because they bring family together to celebrate someone's significant day of birth. The first step in planning the Perfect Mexican birthday party is to invite your closest family members. This often means you're brothers and sisters alongside cousins. People from outside the family are generally not invited and are shunned if they do attend. The reason behind this is that Hispanic families tend to have family oriented parties because this brings a sense of family bonding and togetherness. To begin the invitation process, you will often call one family member, who will then spread the news around, effectively acting as an invitation for the whole family. Following this, one must effectively create a music playlist. Creating a music playlist full of Hispanic songs is essential for an enthusiastic party. You must choose a ... • 31. Personal Narrative: Moving To Tulsa I had heard endless stories of my family that lived in Tulsa, but my 10–year–old self never would have imagined that I would come face to face with them. Especially not like this. I spent my entire life moving from city to city, state to state, how could my dad even think about settling down now? And in Tulsa of all places? It was moving day and I knew I could not put off meeting them any longer. As the movers scurried around the house, I anxiously waited in the driveway for my family to arrive. That's when I saw them coming down the road, five black cars, 10 aunts and uncles and 17 cousins that had been figures of my imagination until this very moment. As the car doors swung open, my mind immediately pictured a clown car as I watched the people pour out of the car. Although everything I had heard made them seem crazy, my heart was racing as I felt a sense of excitement rush over me. Before I even had the chance to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What makes my family so unique is that we have established that although we aren't all physically together anymore like we were when I first moved to Tulsa, we are closer than ever. I thought that being apart from my family would take me back to life before I ever knew them, but they have become such a prevalent part of my life that our relationships can stand the distance. I find myself looking forward to the weekends when I can go back to Tulsa, even if it means I won't get any work done. We know that no matter how busy we get; family is always a priority. Moving to Tulsa and growing up around my huge family showed me how much I really value family and the rare sense of belonging that you get when you are around them. I hope that in the future, my family will have the same opportunity to grow up surrounded by their loved ones and that they too will find value in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Analysis Of My Cousin Vinny The movie My Cousin Vinny follows two young men, Bill and Stan, as they embark on their journey to UCLA. Along the way, they become hungry and decide to stop at the Sack Of Suds, an unassuming little convenience store in Alabama, to buy a few refreshments. After leaving the store, Bill discovers that he has accidentally forgotten to pay for a can of tuna. Soon following his realization, the men get pulled over by a cop and are arrested. After a short interrogation by the police, Stan confesses to what he thinks is shoplifting. However, it is quickly realized that their charges are much more serious than that and the boys now face the ultimate capital punishment, death. As it turns out, shortly after they left the Sack of Suds, the store clerk was murdered. Having been the last persons seen at the crime scene, Stan and Bill are now the number one suspects in the clerk's murder. Unable to afford a lawyer, they enlist the help of Bill's cousin, Vinny Gambini. Vinny is not your average lawyer, though, as an injury attorney who has only been at work for six weeks, has never been to trial, and, who, took six attempts to pass the bar, odds aren't in his favor for winning a murder trial. Following their interrogation and arrest, Bill and Stan attend the pre–trial procedures. Stan is being formally charged with accessory to murder in the first–degree, while Bill is charged with first–degree murder. At the arraignment, the judge begins by asking Vinny (the defense) how his clients ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. It Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" Throughout the year, there are many occasions that bring my family together to celebrate. We celebrate birthdays, baptisms, and generally when the sun is shining bright. However, there is one holiday that stands out as my favorite, Christmas. It is a time of year "with lots of fun and cheer." Although this statement is cliché, it is also true. It is the time of year when the world is kinder; joy and good will are spread through the world. In my family, Christmas brings us together to celebrate each other in love at the end of the year. It is a time when we show a little more kindness to a stranger, laugh and commune with each other, and fill our bellies with food. Christmas is the time of year when the best of human nature shines through. People spend more time saying hello and goodbye. We show gratitude for little things that we would normally ignore. One tends to reflect on the blessings they received throughout the year. They reflect on the things that are most important like family and friendship, good health, and well– being. Generally even the shrewdest and grouchiest person, is slightly nicer during this time of year. Strangers give to charities and homeless shelters. People give their time by volunteering in soup kitchens and hospitals. Although these random acts of kindness should be displayed more throughout the year, it is nice to observe during Christmas. The meaning of Christmas is important to me because it brings my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Cupcake Craft As we started to approach the tall brick building filled with various activities, we could see the endless crowds of people gathering around the front doors. Starting to get upon the tip of my toes, I was startled by my mother who leaped in front of the four of my cousins and I. "Smile, darlings!" my mother ordered. She reached for the camera around her neck as we groaned and wrapped our arms around each other. She snapped the photo with a click of her finger. "Perfect!" Opening the doors to the craft room, the smell of fresh paint instantly filled our nostrils. Every year before Summer came to an end, my mother would take my cousins and I to a museum called "Grounds For Sculpture". This year was definitely a trip that stood out from the ... I was jumping with joy I spotted this luscious bright purple and squeezed it, popping the cap off and hitting my other younger cousin, Joe directly in the face. I couldn't hold it in and started to laugh hysterically. "Hey!" Joe blurted. He turned around with a green squirt bottle in his hands. "Take this!" I felt a hard bump on my chest as if someone had just punched me. I looked down to see green paint splattered all over my shirt. I tilted my head up to see my mom with a look of horror on her face as if she had just witnessed a murder. All of us had our jaws dropped wide open, except for Joe, he looked like any second now he would start exploding with laughter. "What has gotten into you two?" my mother questioned with frustration. She brought me into the bathroom and started digging through her purse. She pulled out an extra T– shirt that was plain black. "How did you–" My mother cut me off before I could finish. "I know you guys too well to not be prepared for this." I put on the new shirt that my mother had packed and we walked back to our craft table. I noticed that Amy was using the purple I wanted and that it was close to being empty. "Hey! Don't use it all!" "Kind of too late, don't you think?" Amy replied with a tone of sass. • 36. Reflection Paper On Thanksgiving Day On Thanksgiving Day, I decided to observe my 86–year–old grandmother. I was with her for the whole day. My observation began that morning when she woke up and walked into the living room. My grandma started off with turning on the coffee maker. While her coffee was brewing she went and took a shower. When she was done showering she went to make her a cup of coffee and then she had a seat on the couch. My grandma told my little cousin to bring her purse out of her room. He brought it to her. She then pulled out a bag of pills. She picked out 5 different ones and then took them with her cup of coffee. She then took the rollers out of her hair as she sat and watched the morning news. While she was watching the news, she remembered that the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade was on and told me to turn the channel to it. While we watched the parade, my cousin and aunts were in the kitchen finishing up our thanksgiving meal. I made a joke and asked my grandma if she was going to help cook this year. She scoffed and said, "My days of cooking are over...I'm too old for that". She then made a comment about how she is hurting and could not stand up for long. She continued to eat her breakfast. She ate very slow, it took her about fort–five minutes to finish it all. As my cousin cooked my grandma shouted out pointers to her in the kitchen. She started to get tired of shouting, so she decided to move to the kitchen table so that she could help. My cousin bought her the ingredients to her famous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Most Memorable Childhood Event My Most Memorable Event My most memorable childhood event was when I was 13 years old; it was the Fourth of July. A big family vacation a barbeque, overnight stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the night before me, my mom, sisters and brothers packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin house in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion; five bedrooms two and half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income apartment on the East side of Nashville. Arriving to my cousin house I saw a lot of my family members even the ones that was from out of town. We greeted each other and we went on about our business. As my grandmother, mom, and aunts prepared the food for the barbeque. The other adult gathered around different table's playing cards, dominos, shooting dice, and watching movies or sports on TV. I remember me my siblings and cousins played outside from swimming; sports, danced and hide go seek anything that you could think of for children to do. When the food was ready we gathered together and said prey and feast. After dinner was served everyone went to movie room for family time. We watched a movie called Madea's Family Reunion by Tyler Perry. The Movie reminded me so much of my family. It let me know that family is everything and no family is perfect. We just have to learn to stick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. My Identity And Personal Identity My purpose is to show my individuality and to express myself. This is for others including myself, to see and to remind us that our identity is very complex. My parents immigrated to this country from Mexico many years ago and they brought along their culture, which makes up a major part of my identity. I am Mexican American and the stereotype that we have a lot of members in our family is true, but it doesn't tell the full story. I have a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins and I am very grateful for them because each and every one of them has taught me important lessons that have shaped who I am today. When all of us are together we stand out because there are so many of us and we can also get very loud. We always know how to have a good time and we're also the life of every party. Every Christmas eve we all get together at one of our aunt's houses and celebrate the birth of Jesus. We set up a nacimiento, or Nativity set, made of figurines that represent the ones who were present during his birth. We cover the set with hay, surround it with little figurines of animals and drape Christmas lights all around the set. Then we do a rosary and commemorate the ones in our family who have passed or could not make it. During these celebrations we always have tamales, menudo, and hot chocolate. These foods are very important to us because most of the women in the family get together the day before the event and prepare the food. In this time we all have time to catch up on the latest gossip and drama that is going on in our lives. One thing that I have recently been interested in again is the traditional Aztec dances and rituals. When I was younger I used to participate in the dances with my mother but we had to quit due to the long and late hours of practice. I have started to go to retreats where we spend most of our nights dancing and praying to temples and different gods. Doing this makes me feel more connected to my ancestral roots and i feel a sense of pride. Religion plays an important role in my life. I identify as catholic, but there are some thing that me and my family don't follow. We don't go to church often and when we do it's only for important events. This is because we've had bad experiences with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. My Most Important Day Essay Honestly if I were to think of my most important day, not even one would come to mind, because when your put on the spot to think of one it's hard. Although, there is one day that out of all is clear as daylight in my head, down to every second. I think this is due to the day being different than all the other days. In my life, I experienced something I thought I never would. My most important day of my life is when I finally met my older cousin Akash, while we were on our vacation on the cruise. I always knew my cousin Akash, but we had never truly spoke nor bonded. He'd always do his own thing, and I guess you could say I looked up to him due to the type of person he was. I'd really only see him at family parties due to us not being first cousins, but suddenly he stopped coming to them. It didn't matter if it was a family get together, birthday, Christmas, or anything else, he would never show up. This made it impossible for me to ever see him. However, then I found out that he'd be coming with us on the cruise. To be honest, at first I didn't care much because I thought he wouldn't associate with me much, but I was entirely wrong. It was the third day on the cruise and my cousin had been previously with the uncles the first two days. He knocked on my room door with me and my other cousin Dave inside. I answered, and right away he asked the both of us "Yo what do you guys want to do?" At first I was shocked that he was here, but instead of acting confused I decided to go ...
