2. INTRODUCTION
• Pandemi Covid-19 has been widely spreading to all countries over the world
since the end of 2019 up to the present time
• The risk of infection most people in many countries, and even millions of
life were lost due to its worst infection over human body.
• the devastating impact of Covid-19 outbreak has severely disrupted
multifaceted aspects of people’s life, health, economy, job, business,
industry, education, politics, and still many others.
• In combating Covid-19, Indonesia, following WHO instruction as in other
countries, has strictly applied health protocols to the people covering wearing
mask, washing hands, keeping social distance, and staying at home.
• The other strategy which is strongly recommended is the vaccination of
Covid-19 in order to build herd immunity.

• Those two strategies have been widely promoted and campaigned to society through
pamphlets, advertisements, talk shows, and many other ways in public spaces.
• Vaccination of Covid-19 is a global health program held under the supervision of WHO to
immunize people to the infection of the virus.
• At its former presence, vaccination program was facing with people’s negative perception
leading to social distrust due to misunderstanding, misinformation, and hoax.t
• The role of language is very crucial for a better socialization of the Covid-19 vaccination
program to society, individuals, organizations, or institutions.
• Nursing Program of Unika Santu Paulus created a video of socializing Covid-19
vaccination program in Manggaraian Language (ML), a local language spoken from west
to east Manggarai region.
• The use of ML is considered as a key means of communication locally closed to people,
and the main purpose is to raise people’s understanding and awareness toward the
importance of Covid-19 vaccination.
8. CONCLUSION
•First, the mostly appeared speech act, as in the
case of directive speech act, emphasized the
speakers’ intention regarding the involvement
of the local people in the Covid-19 vaccination
program. Second, it turns out that the
employment of speech acts in Manggaraian
language has very beneficial effect to raise the
Manggaraian speakers’awareness toward the
urgency of the Covid-19 vaccination program.
