2. Channel 4 Documentary
Throughout this documentary “UFOs: The Secret
Evidence” we see different archive footage of past
sightings of UFO’s. Most documentaries usually
contain this convention of having some sort of
archive footage in them whether it be photos or
videos.
3. Channel 4 Documentary
When filming an interview you have to stick to certain
codes and conventions for example; you must make
sure the interviewee isn’t looking directly into the
camera, he/she should look to one side of the camera
also when setting up the camera insure the he/she is
framed correctly using the rule of thirds and that they
are eye level view to the audience.
4. Channel 4 Documentary
There is usually a Narrator or someone doing the a
voiceover throughout the documentary which guides
people through, and music that goes other cutaways in
the documentary. Also when someone is first shown on
the screen you have to make sure that they’re name is
displayed across the bottom so people know who the
person is and maybe why he’s being interviewed.
5. Our Fast Food Documentary
The documentary we made was all about the fast food
industry and gave people an understanding of what
other people think about fast food itself. We had to
make sure we used all the different codes and
conventions throughout the documentary that
channels 4 usually uses like Voice-over, Vox Pop,
Cutaways, Music and Archive footage, etc.
6. Our Fast Food Documentary
Some other things we had to make sure we used
in our own documentary were the rule of thirds
and display the interviewee’s name below. We
had to make sure we found the right person to
do the voice over because the needed to have a
clear and well pronounced voice so people all
over the country would be able to understand
what they were saying.
7. Print Advert – Channel 4
We chose to have our documentary played on Channel
4 so there were a few codes and conventions that we
needed to stick to for the print advert to fit to Channel
4’s style. One of the things we needed to stick to was
the fact channel 4 use boxes behind the text which
helps the text stand out more on certain backgrounds.
Also we needed to make sure the title of the
documentary was placed at the bottom left along with
the time and date the programme is being played. Then
at the top is the documentary tag line.
8. Print Advert – Channel 4
The Channel 4 Print adverts always have they’re logo
centred to the right hand side of the image so we had
to ensure we did this when making our own. And then
finally we had to make sure the image related clearly to
the documentary and so it attracted them to want to
go watch it.
9. Our Fast Food Print Advert
This is how our print advert came out and as you
can see we have stuck to the codes and
conventions that I mentioned earlier.
10. Radio Advert – Channel 4
When making the radio advert for our documentary we
need to use certain things from the documentary in the
radio advert as well so people could see the relation
between the two. For example we made sure we used
the same music in both and use parts of the
documentary which would help invite people to watch
the actual documentary. Also we needed to use the
same person for the voice over and the same tag line
throughout all our advertisements.
