INTRODUCTION
For the final assignment of social psychology, we are required to carry out a
social psychology conceptual video clip. We have to use the concepts from a
choice of topics taught and discussed in class. The five concepts were applied in
the story and the story is demonstrated and acted by each of the group member.

Next, we are also required to write a report based on our short video and
present it during class. Our group members are Marco Leong, Syasya, Choo Zi
Zhao, Sam Wei Yin and Ngieng Tien Yung. After two time meetings, we have
decided to create a short video about how a child to get his parents attention by
doing negative ways. The concepts that are applied in our story are social
influence, self verification, self perception, operant conditioning and prejudice.

Lastly, this assignment will help us to learn and understand more the
connection between concepts and perspective within psychology and with others
disciplines.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We will like to acknowledgement to those we put a lot of effort to finish out
this project. Without them , It is impossible to finish it on time.

Next, we will like to thank to Mr. Shankar for giving us this precious chance to
work with random groupmates. Without this experience, most of us will still hang
around in our self social circle. We are appreciated Mr. Shakar and lecturers to
guiding us while doing our assignment. We also very grateful that some other
lecturer we're allowed us to take video inside the classroom in peak hour.

We will like to thanks some of the taylor’s students who willing to help us to
finish up our video and be some of the actor. They also giving us some advice
while doing it .

Last but not least, thanks to my groupmates who stay up together to finish up
our project. Each of them stay on their own positions to finish their own part which
been divided equally. We thank them to scarified their time , effort and energy.

Our last meeting was held to finish our report. This meeting was attended by two
members and the others was doing in home. Some of them had some trouble to
come for this meeting. We started with layouting our report and presentation so
that the rest will be more easier and convenient while doing their report.
CONCEPT AND DEFINITION
In this video, we were applied 5 concepts and demonstrated through the
acting of each group members. The 5 concepts are social influence, self
verification, selffulfilling prophecy, operant conditioning and prejudice.

The first concept in our video is social influence.  Social influence is the
change in behavior that
person causes in another, as a result of the way the changed person perceives
themselves in relationship to the influencer.

Next, the second concept is self verification theory. It is a theory that asserts
people want to be known and understood by others according to their firmly held
beliefs and feelings about themselves, that is selfviews which including self
concepts and selfesteem.

The third concept used is selffulfilling prophecy. It is a prediction that
directly or indirectly causes it to be fulfilled, by the very terms of the prophecy
itself.

The fourth concept used is operant conditioning. Sometimes it referred to
instrumental conditioning. It is a process of behavior modification in which a
subject is encouraged to behave in a desired manner through positive or negative
reinforcement, so that the subject comes to associate the pleasure or displeasure of
the reinforcement with the behavior.

The last concept used in our video is prejudice. Prejudice is an unjustified or
incorrect attitude towards an individual based solely on the individual’s
membership of a social group.

ii. STORYLINE
Choo comes from a highly educated family. Both of his parents are very
successful in their career. During his primary school years, Choo was the top
student in his class. Unfortunately, his parents do not always acknowledge or
appreciate his result academics due to their busy work schedule. Choo became
friends with a girl named Syasya who had the same problem that he was facing
with his parents. His new friend influenced him to steal in order to get attention
from his parents. Since becoming friends with Syasya, Choo started to behave very
badly. Sadly, his parents were not aware of his change in attitude.

Choo started stealing money from his parents. When his parents found out
that he had been stealing money from them, they took the initiative to scold Choo
by pointing him out as a naughty and bad boy instead of teaching him what is right
and wrong. So because of what his parents said, Choo continued to behave in the
same way as he began to believe what they had said to him.

Few days later, Choo began stealing again, this time he stole money from a
student named James who was his classmate. Choo surreptitiously stole money
from James’s bag while Syasya was on the lookout. James found out that it was
Choo who had stolen his money as Choo had accidently left his test paper on the
table near James’s bag. Then, James confronted Choo and accused him of stealing
his money. Choo became furious and shoved James to the wall. James got
frightened and ran off to call the police.

Soon after the incident, Choo's parents was called by a police officer, saying
that Choo had stolen money and acted violently towards a student. So because of
that, Choo was sent to the Juvenile prison. Choo was released after spending a few
weeks in the Juvenile prison. Since then, Choo turned over a new leaf. He wanted
to continue school, so he applied to a top private school since he was a top student
in his previous school. Unfortunately, the school rejected Choo because of his
criminal history.

So, Choo was going to steal her mum’s money.
When Choo’s mum came back, she realised that her wallet was in a wrong position
before she went away.
She started thinking who was possible of stealing her money, then she thought
further of his son.
She felt sad and told Choo’s dad. Choo’s dad asked him to find him and search his
pocket then he found money in his pocket.
Choo’s dad scolded and slapped on him.
Choo’s dad: You are thief, you are bad boy

Scene 6: An empty person place
Few days later,Choo and his friend walked and saw a bag which no people around

So, Syasya told Choo to search the bag and steal something.
Unfortunately, Choo made a mistake, he left his result paper on the table.
James who is the owner of the bag realised that, so he was going to find Choo to
get back his belonging.

Scene 6: Classroom
In the beginning of the scene, Choo and Syasya were talking in the classroom.
James walked in and argue with Choo to get back his belonging.
But unfortunately, Choo didn’t admit, he pushed James to the wall and warned
him.
After that, Choo pushed James down to the floor and shouted on him.
James was angry so that he had to call to the police station.
James: Hey Choo, why u steal my wallet?
Choo: I didn’t steal your thing
James: I can see this paper around my table, it can prove that you are there.

Choo: But i changed already
School principal: I’m sorry
Then, Choo left the room
End of the story..

iv. APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS
The first concept applied in this video is social influences. Choo was a top student
when he still in primary school. This is because Choo is influenced by his parent
since both of his parent was lawyer and doctor. Next, Choo also influenced by his
friend syasya to steal.

The second concept in this storyline is self verification. Choo want his parent to
see his existing in this family. Choo’s parent always busy with their career. They
have no time for Choo and they did not give any attention to Choo. Therefore, to
show himself to his parent Choo study hard to become a top student. However, his
parent did not appreciate his effort.

Next, the third concept applied in this video is selffulfilling prophecy. This occur
when Choo was caught by his parent stealing money from them. One day, Choo
take money from his mother wallet when his mother picking up a phone call and
leave her wallet on the table. Choo’s mother realise her wallet had touched by
someone, and only Choo and she was at home. Choo mother told Choo’s father
that she suspect Choo had stolen money from her. So, Choo was called by his
father and his father had found some big amount of money in Choo’s pocket.
Choo’s parent feel disappointed. They say Choo is a thief and was a bad boy. Due
to this sentence Choo start to misbehave and believe what his parent said he was a
Thief.

The fourth concept which is the operant conditioning is applied in the story where
Choo stole money and acted violently towards his classmate; James. So because of
this, Choo was sent to a juvenile prison as a punishment.

Last concept in this video is prejudice. After Choo released from Juvenile prison.
Choo wanted to continue his study. However, his school do not accept him due to
his criminal record.

CONCLUSION

Conclusion, social psychology is a project help us understanding and study of
how people’s thoughts but also behaviors are influenced by the actual imagined, or
implied presence of others. In this course, it help us adapt into the social in future.

This final project not only strengthen the bond between me and my teammates,
but also helping us understanding how important social psychology is. All of us are
not perfect but when we together, we are stronger and better. Thanks to Mr.
Shankar giving us the precious chance to understand it.

Last but not least, social psychology theory is apply everywhere, everytime.
With social psychology, we as a human will understanding more about each others.
