My First Cultural Immersion Experience
After my first cultural immersion experience interviewing Rabbi Tepper, I resolved to experience my second cultural immersion activity with the
Jewish community. Ultimately, I wanted both of my encounters to be with one culture. I desired to achieve a deeper understanding of one culture,
rather than gaining superficial understanding of two dissimilar cultures. Furthermore, I wanted my second immersion experience to consist of several
activities. Rabbi Tepper was kind enough to invite me to attend Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath) andTorah study. These comprised a large portion of my
overall experience. My hope was to include an activity that was more intimate as well, such as social time spent in the home or a shared meal. As
luck would have it, I was able to share a meal with the congregation after Shabbat. This meal was a celebratory meal of the conversion of two
individuals to Judaism. I was rather nervous leading up to attending the Shabbat service (my first activity), but I was also excited. The nervousness
partially stemmed from not knowing what the proper etiquette for attending a Shabbat service and part of it was just a general anxiety about
experiencing something new and different.
When I first arrived I felt very out of place, Rabbi Tepper immediately located me, greeted me warmly and introduced me to a family whom I could sit
with and ask question should I have any throughout the service. The service took about an hour and a half. Much of the service consisted of hymns

City Meals On Wheels Essay
I believe that one of the most precious things in our lives is our elders. It is sad to see that so many of them are neglected in a day to day bases. As
I went through this course I learned so much not only about an issue with aging but also about the many services and organizations that help the
elderly. Before this course I knew that there were service out there, but I honestly couldn't tell you where or what they offered. One agency that I
actually volunteered at for the day was the City meals on Wheels. City meals on Wheels is a program that provides meals for elderly whom are
homebound in New York City. They provide meals for people in all five boroughs. City meals have been opened since 1981 and 57% of the elderly
whom receive meals live alone. 40% of the meals delivered are for the elderly that very rarely or never leave their homes and 66% of their recipients
are women. In order to qualify for home–delivered meals, a person needs to be at least 60 years old. They must also suffer from chronic physical or
mental disability that would prevent him or her from being able to go grocery shopping or preparing meals for themselves. The agency partners with
community–based organizations and senior centers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have volunteers who visit the elderly regularly. City meals has also provide workers and volunteers with Elder Abuse & Alzheimer's Disease
Training. The majority of the time meal deliverers are sometimes the only people who will see elderly's who receive meals on a regular basis. For the
most part they become familiar with the meal recipients' personalities and their overall behaviors. Because of this, they are usually the first ones to
notice if something is wrong. The Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse Prevention at The Hebrew Home at Riverdale and the Manhattan District
Attorney's Office have taught the staff to recognize the signs of elder abuse and how they should report

Meal Plan Research Paper
Why do colleges make their meal plans for students very costly? Are they too expensive? Are meal plans or college food healthy? Throughout the
21st century college has become more essential to attend and get a job after graduating. As compared to back then when with just a high school
degree an individual could live off a decent job. However, as college became more important, the price of college also increased including, the cost of
dorms, tuition, fees, books, and most importantly meal plans. Within all of the college expenses, the price of meal plans has also increased. Food is one
of the most important necessity a human being needs to survive. Furthermore, the price is not the only factor, the health and regulations of a student's
meal plan also comes into play. Colleges provide a huge variety of food, most of it being fast food. The main research question ... Show more content on

Students are surrounded by unhealthy food off or on campus. In a research done by nutritionists, they came to a conclusion that students without
meal plans wasted more money on fast food and consumed more fast food ('Cost and Calorie of Fast Food'). This was all due to convenience of the
students without meal plans, since they cannot get into dining halls, and most do not have time to cook or do not know how to cook, therefore they
turn to fast food for a quick meal. Due to the fact that there are plenty of fast food restaurants on or nearby mostly any university campus in America.
Researchers in the Cost and Calorie of Fast Food also conducted that the average students waste $71 on fast food and consumed about 12,000 of fast
food per month (pg.944). People may say that it is the students fault for not eating right or wasting money on fast food, but it's actually the colleges
that deicide what type of food to surround its students with. There is no escaping fast food on a college campus in

What Makes A Quick Lunch For An Economical Price?
In today's society, Americans want everything quick and cost–effective, so the question stands what is a quick lunch for an economical price?
Americans live in a world that surrounds them with a variety of fast food restaurants; such as, McDonald's and Checkers two of the most well–known
fast food restaurants. Far from what we imagined, McDonald's and Checkers have a vast distinction of uniqueness. Most people perceive them as the
same fast food restaurant with distinctive names. For this reason, people debate on which one of them is the superior restaurant and which one is the
more economical restaurant. Even though, both McDonald's and Checkers have equivalence, their distinctions become undeniable when we analyze
McDonald's quality of service, value meals, and family friendly environment. The quality of service in today's world is a must; both McDonald's and
Checkers offer it in a distinctive manner. Providing quality service means meeting the material as well as the emotional needs of a customer before,
during, and after the initial purchase or contact and having sufficient processes in place where the same level of service is provided consistently.
McDonald's provides service with two of the easiest and most convenient ways to order food, and gives the ultimate fast food experience. McDonald's
allows the customers to order inside providing a face–to–face ordering experience at a fast pace. A second option customers have is to order through a
drive–through and have

Resident S.V. was visited in his room during the mid–morning snack delivery. This resident is currently on a VHA Healthy Diet, oral supplementation,
an evening snack as well as, receiving Juven to help with his wounds. At the VA Hospital Juven is treated as a medication and delivered to the nurse's
station by the food service workers who are delivering the snacks to the resident's room. The ward nurse then prepares the Juven for the patient. It was
verified with resident that he is receiving the Juven during his mid–morning snack and late afternoon snack along with his oral supplementation.
Resident was observed to be consuming about >50% of the nutritional supplementation. It was discussed with resident the possibility of decreasing
his oral supplements to once per day since he was at a stable weight and reported to be consuming most of his meals. Resident did agree to the
change in his snacks since it will be replaced by other types of snacks to meet his calorie needs.
Resident D.T. was visited in his room after his lunch tray was delivered. Resident appeared to be in good spirits during the interview. He is currently

Support and Caring for a Person with Dementia Essay
Description
The patient presents with dementia, poor posture (her chin close to her chest) and dislikes solids, there for has to be assisted to feed and chooses
only to consume liquids. Her communication skills are also poor and doesn't have the capacity to engage in a flowing conversation but has the ability
to answer a question using the words 'yes' or 'no' or by saying individual words. I was given the task of feeding the patient at lunch time as she requires
one to one support at meal times due to her lack of willingness to consume solids and fluids. It is extremely important to maintain good fluid intake to
reduce the chance of dehydration which could contribute to increased confusion in a dementia patient. To prevent this, ... Show more content on

I chatted in general conversation with her to give her sufficient time to digest her intake then offered her further fluids to which she stated 'no more'.
Satisfied she had had enough, I removed her apron and directed her to the lounge area and then discussed the task with my mentor.
Feelings/thoughts
Before I started this task I felt slightly anxious as it was the first time I had supported this patient on a one to one basis. I was unsure of how she
would react to me as I was an unfamiliar face to her in relation to her feeding and I had previously witnessed her being very verbally aggressive,
trying to leave her chair and showing signs of frustration during meal times with other trained, experienced staff on the ward. Throughout the task I
felt my confidence increased as the patient was fairly compliant with what I was trying to achieve, this made me become more relaxed and less
anxious which I feel eased the mood of the whole experience. After completing the task I felt satisfied that I had achieved what was required whilst
undertaking a person–centred personalised approach to meet the needs of the patient.
Evaluation
I felt that I achieved the desired outcome which was to ensure the patient consumed an adequate volume of fluids during meal time whilst promoting a
person – centred approach to their care as I ensured the patient enjoyed

Inequality In Virginia Woolf
We are all created equal, but we are not treated as equals. We like to believe that everyone is equal, but society doesn't treat everyone as what they
were when created, equal. Virginia Woolf writes of society's inequality through describing two meals from two different colleges. What mattered was
neither where the college was nor the name of it, but what mattered was that one was for men and the other for women. Woolf was was served onemeal
from the colleges and there were some striking differences. Through her writing, Woolf's use of vocabulary, tone, and emotional appeal help support
her attitude that women aren't treated equal compared to men. In reading both passages, there is a clear difference in her vocabulary for describing the
meals. "Here, however, I shall take the liberty to defy that convention and to tell you that the lunch on this occasion began with soles, sunk in deep
dish, over which the college cook had spread a counterpane of the whitest cream, save that it was branded here and there with brown spots like the
spots on the flanks of a doe" (Woolf,Passage 1, Sentence 4). "Here was the soup. It was a plain gravy soup. There was nothing to stir the fancy in that"
(Woolf, Passage 2, Sentence 6–8). Not only was there a change in vocabulary, but there was also a change in the length of her sentences. Woolf's
experience in the men's college was given a lot of detail compared to her experience in the women's college. We can infer, from her vocabulary, that the

Descriptive Essay On Olive Garden
Olive Garden is a family friendly restaurant that specializes in Italian–American dishes, and is well known for their soup, salad, and breadsticks. My
family and I ate dinner at Olive Garden in Lafayette, Indiana. The criteria used to rate our experience was the flavor, appearance, and healthfulness of
the food, the prompt and efficiency of the service, the price of the meal, and the lighting and decor of the atmosphere. When it comes to the best
service, food, price, and atmosphere Olive Garden excels and continues to please their customers. The atmosphere of any restaurant is a very important
in making a first impression on their customers. When a customer decides to try a new restaurant, if there is a bad atmosphere they may not want to
return to the restaurant. The Italian theme of Olive Garden is expressed throughout the outside decor of the building. The outside is decorated with
vines which are very reminiscent of Italian style buildings with a beautiful entryway. The entrance of the restaurant was nicely decorated. Since it is
around Christmas they had a beautiful Christmas tree up, as well as garland and red bows. The lighting of the restaurant was neither to dark or to
bright. There was plenty of light to be able to see the menu, and the light created a relaxed atmosphere throughout the restaurant.
The service was very efficient and prompt throughout the meal. Quickly after we were seated, our waitress came to get our drink orders. When our

What is The Eucharist?
The Eucharist is a sacrament that gives expression to our faith. Sacraments are a sign of our intimate unity with God. There is a rich, deep connection
between what the Church is and what sacraments are that is profoundly evident in the celebration of the Eucharist. God's presence is mediated by the
Church and its' sacraments "to an unseen reality and ... [makes] that reality "present" to us."
"The church is impossible without the Eucharist" , the centre of our Christian lives.
Memorial is an integral part of Eucharist. With origins in the Passover meal, we cannot understand Eucharist without knowledge of Passover. The
symbolism of both rituals is deeply entwined; we remember, give thanks, worship, and renew our covenant with God.
Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Although scholars are uncertain as to whether the Last Supper was the Passover meal, it "took
place in the atmosphere of the Passover" . The Last Supper added a new dimension to the Jewish ritual meal, "in terms of what (or better who) was
celebrated" . Jesus asked the disciples to "do this in memory of me" (1 Cor 11:24, The NIV study Bible). It is not merely a memorial recalling past
covenants and sacrifices, but central to the Church, acting powerfully in the present and opening out towards the future. Denis Edwards says we often
forget that "every Eucharist has a thanks giving memorial for God at work in creation as well as in redemption." Early Christian Eucharistic prayers,

Analysis Of Lifecare Alliance 's Programs And Services...
Introduction
This summer I had the opportunity to volunteer at a non–profit organization called LifeCare Alliance in Columbus, Ohio. LifeCare Alliance's programs
and services assist impoverished and medically challenged senor citizens in Franklin, Madison and Marion Counties. These various programs include
Meals–on–Wheels, the Columbus Cancer Clinic, Project OpenHand–Columbus, Visiting Nurses, Senior Dining Centers, Senior Wellness Centers,
Help–at–Home, Groceries–to–Go Pantry, IMPACT Safety, and Senior PetCare. The goal of the agency is to support clients in remaining independent
while in the comfort of their own homes with dignity, where they want to be.

Model the Way
LifeCare Alliance's overall mission is to "lead the community in identifying and delivering health and nutrition services to meet the community's
changing needs" (Lifecare, 2015). According to McDonald (2007), the mission of a nonprofit organization should satisfy needs that are inadequately
met by private and profit organizations. There are many profit and private organizations in the central Ohio area that do not effectively cater to the
needs of poor, inner–city senior citizens. It was evident that LifeCare Alliance's Meals–On–Wheels Program modeled its mission by satisfying the
needs of the impoverished, elderly adults who may go unrecognized by the Columbus city system. I was able to witness and assist this non–profit
organization in fulfilling its mission by servicing food and friendly, warm interactions with the individuals in need throughout the Columbus area.
Meals–on–Wheels program helped satisfied the community's changing needs by preparing meals geared towards special individuals. For example,
some clients were vegetarians or needed kosher meals and our kitchen was able to supply them with their needs. They were also given a food item
menu, which enabled clients to choose from many dinner entrГ©e options.
Inspire a Shared Vision
The vision of LifeCare Alliance was inspired by Catherine and Nelson Black and organized to bring medical care and health education to the homes of
the sick and underprivileged populations.

Engaging In Kolb's Clinical Learning Theory
My second concrete experience that was a value to my learning was going with service users to help out with Meals on Wheels. The staff drove to
different houses around Stoke to drop off the meals. Some users got to deliver meals by themselves, while some others needed support with staff. This
experience was valuable because I got to see service users feeling like they were doing something helpful and important for the community.
By engaging in Kolb's experimental learning theory of reflective observation and abstract conceptualisation, I gained meaning from my experience.

Reflection Of Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels was an incredible experience that enabled myself, as well as other students of the St. Mary's University community, to learn while
gaining insights towards the world that we may be unfamiliar towards. Throughout the past weeks with Meals on Wheels, I have gained a sense of
understanding that focuses not solely on my needs, but the needs of others. For so long in my life, I did not care much about using my free time to
be an active citizen. Before taking this course, my free time consisted of activities to benefit my own wellbeing. While being enrolled in the Civic
Engagement course at St. Mary's University, I have gained a passion towards others that allows myself to view others within our community through a
different perspective. Understanding that we are all in this together We all depend on another individual at one point during our life, whether it may
have been a parent or guardian in our youth, or a caretaker during your last few years of life. Meals on Wheels provided meals to clients all over the
United States that have been dependent on volunteers. These elderly individuals of the community depend on volunteers throughout the country each
day to receive a prepared meal that would lower the food expenses in their monthly budgets. Before I began Meals on Wheels, I gained excitement by
learning that the route consisted of elders that would most likely be the only interaction they would receive throughout the day. Within the article,

Why Is Food Coma A Myth Or Reality
Food Coma: Myth or reality????
Almost everyone is acquainted with the experience of finishing a big meal and the accompanying state of drowsiness or lassitude. How many times
we have taken resolutions to not over indulge in our favorite food in the family occasions, celebratory meals or just regular heavy meals. Those are
the times when a couch seems more appealing and dozing off is the best possible idea. Sounds like a familiar experience?
This phenomenon is called as food coma. No, one does not literally goes into a coma but it will certainly seem like an individual is about to enter into
one.

Myths
Drop in blood flow from brain and oxygen delivery
Mostly people believe there is a drop in oxygen and blood flow after a meal which leads to after–meal drowsiness and sleepiness. But this is wrong
because even though there is an increase in blood flow due to passage of food in the gastrointestinal tracts, it is generally from the skeletal muscle
tissue and also by increasing the rate of blood pumped per minute by the heart.
Tryptophan present in the Turkey
Popular myth among everyone is that turkey is very rich in tryptophan which when consumed during a Thanksgiving Day result in more than usual
sleepiness and food coma. This is because tryptophan produces serotonin which is associated with relaxation and sleepiness. However, the amount of
tryptophan present in turkey is similar to chicken, beef, and other meats. The quantity required to raise brain serotonin level cannot be achieved by
eating servings of turkey.

My Oxfam Hunger Experience
After recently attending the Oxfam Hunger Experience at the Atwood Memorial Center, I have a new appreciation for the widespread problem of
hunger. It was an eye–opening experience that demonstrates the vast number of people that face hunger on a daily basis. It also illustrated the limited
control people have over their situation.
When first arriving to the event, everyone drew a card to determine what income group they would be in. The proportion of income groups assigned
was proportionally equivalent to the spread of wealth in the real world. I was a part of the largest group assigned to the lowest income group. With my
low–income card, I was allowed to serve myself one small bowl of Ramen noodles. People in the medium income group were able to grab themselves
a plate of spaghetti, and the highest income group was served their meal, which was spaghetti and meatballs with cookies. Seeing the proportion of the
world that lives below the poverty line was eye–opening. The content of the meals also demonstrated the challenges of eating healthy on a low budget.
People in the high–income group ate a well–balanced spaghetti and meatball meal. The low–income group ate Ramen noodles, which has very little
nutritional value. People who live on a small income do not have the means of obtaining fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods due to the higher
cost. For many low–income families, fast food becomes an accessible and inexpensive source of meals, but these meals provide

Italian Food Identifiable Experience Essay
My impression of what makes food identifiably Italian is based largely upon my experience eating in Italy. The quantity of food and the types of
food being eaten were very different from what I was accustomed to prior to my visit. Polenta, Gnocchi and Grappa were the food and drink that stood
out the most to me. To me they are identifiable Italian foods and were not something I had been introduced to prior to my visit. Eating outdoors under a
canopy laced with vines and with the mountains constantly in view stood out to me and is in my mind identifiably Italian or even as an identifiable
experience that differentiated Trentino from other areas we visited. That these experiences were different than the norm for me made them seem
identifiably Italian. The differences defined the identity of Italian food, down to the setting and geography of the region. ... Show more content on

various factors that led me to purchase an Egg McMuffin meal for breakfast before a busy Saturday. Ever since I was a young boy, I had always been
encouraged to start my day off the right way with a healthy breakfast. This mainly consisted of my father preparing me a bowl of delicious fresh fruit
in addition to cereal and milk. Other days I would enjoy a more classic breakfast, including eggs, bacon and toast. In addition, there were mornings

This also relates to my emotions and needs, as an individual that I need to fulfill to not only be healthy, but also to satisfy my personal goal of having

identify a problem at hand and begin to take action to solve the problem.
The next stage in the purchase decision process is the information search process. This stage consists of a pre–purchase search, while leveraging
internal and external information to narrow down a choice. Internally I was able to remind myself of memories and past experiences I've had with
breakfast meals. Primarily I focus on the past few meals I've had, and what I've liked about those meals. Additionally I reference my associative
nodes which created a few quick alternatives for breakfast: make it at home, McDonalds, Byte 75, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Cora's, or even Angie's.
Since it was a Saturday in which there are no classes, I was able to include a broader depth of options that could require more travel time. This internal
information helps me narrow down alternatives for the next stage. In relation to external information, I tried to gather as much feedback to understand
what the best purchase decision would be for me at that given time. I begin

What Role Does Food Play In The Life Of The Javanese
Food is a powerful character in the lives of muslims, as it allows them to observe Ramadan. This character allowed muslims, such as the Javanese in
the 19th century, Batavia, to build social relations with their community members, families and friends, as they were able to consume their meals
together. Food also played a role in bringing the Javanese closer to Islam, as abstaining from food taught them their purposes in the community and
allowed them to purify themselves by abstaining from certain unholy acts. The fasts that the Javanese observed during Ramadan really created a
religious space where social relations and faith merged to become one and the same. Quite amazingly, I was able to understand this importance that
food had in the lives of the Javanese through my four days spent observing Ramadan as a well–born Javanese in the 19th century in Batavia. The
Javanese, along with all muslims, await Ramadan, as we await Christmas or birthdays. For them, it is a time to explore their divine religion and to
wholly devote themselves to God. The followers of Ramadan had several religious attitudes towards fasting, some of which consisted of: means of
showing obedience to Allah, helping to gain self–control, finding a source of spiritual power, learning how to feel for the poor, and learning to endure
suffering. However, some muslims were just as likely to reject fasting due to opposing beliefs, though this was only around 2% of the muslims in
Indonesia. Most of the muslims

on what they enjoy. A child with autism may only eat certain foods such as chicken nuggets, pizza, or mac and cheese. Diet in a child's life is very
important. A child that only eats certain things may experience some nutritional deficits. To be healthy, we need to introduce a variety of foods to their
diet. All children are picky eaters at some point, but sensory deficit children exceed this phase. (Morris, 1999) "Children with sensory–based feeding

Raising Cane 's A Restaurant
Raising Cane 's Restaurant
The food industry in Louisiana has been growing over the years and the Raising Cane 's Restaurant has been on the forefront in offering some of the
best delicacies I have tasted in my life. Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure of experiencing different restaurants and I can admit the
experience has not been disappointing at Raising Cane 's Restaurant. For anyone looking to experience a different taste of chicken, look no further than
Raising Cane.Raising Cane mostly serves chicken fingers. In fact, the restaurant's name is Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. As its name suggests, it
offers a variety of meals, but chicken meals are their main foods. Todd Graves, who is the C.E.O of the restaurant and Craig Silvey who was Todd's
partner and currently the vice president of information technology and finance established the restaurant in August 1996. The restaurant has its
headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which was the location of the first restaurant. Today, Raising Cane is found in over 250 locations in the U.S
and other countries including Kuwait as of September in 2015.
I set out to visit the restaurant for lunch last Friday and the first thing I noticed was its theme color, which is red. The restaurant's logo is made of a
mixture of white, yellow and black colors on a red and a small yellow background. Its location is equally catchy because it is located at the
intersection of University Drive and Rural Road, which is next to Arizona

Open Hands Research Paper
I have been blessed beyond measure in my life with the love and support of my family. It is because of that love and support that I feel a strong
obligation to be the best person I can be by working hard and caring about the world around me. Through my volunteer work, I have participated in
many fundraisers, food and clothing drives. However, my greatest personal growth has come from more direct acts of kindness that go largely
unrecognized to anyone other than the recipient. My first experience meeting someone in very unfortunate circumstances occurred when my mother
suggested we deliver meals for an Atlanta based organization called Open Hands. Open Hands prepares individualized healthy meals for very ill
people living on their own. Open Hands conducted training on a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tears filled my eyes and I was the first one to the door at our next visit. The conversation and human connection were as vital to these people as the
meals themselves. For me, playing lacrosse for the first time or delivering a meal to someone with Aids, were uncomfortable experiences at first. I
was nervous and scared of the unknown. It is tougher to see those that are sick and lonely face to face rather than just donate money. It is more
difficult to try new things than risk failure. In the end, I learned that getting out of my comfort zone made me feel humble, grateful and inspired.
Through my Environmental Science studies, I began to learn that there was a career possibility for me that combines science and business with
helping to improve our collective quality of life. I participated in a few Clean River workdays on the Chattahoochee River that is used for both
recreation and drinking water in Georgia. While growing up in Georgia, I spent countless summers, fishing, hiking and boating with my family where I

Evaluation Of A Volunteer Placement Essay
When I began searching for a placement, I wanted each day to include new people and opportunities to ensure I was getting the most out of my
experience. I chose to complete a volunteer placement with the not–for–profit organization, Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) in its 'Meals on Wheels'
program. My volunteer experience with 'Meals on Wheels' allowed me to become immersed in a sub–culture of individuals volunteering their time to
help ailing people within the community. Meals on Wheels specializes in delivering nourishing meals to individuals in Hamilton and surrounding areas.
Recipients of this service may have difficulty shopping or preparing meals, which prevents them from getting the proper and adequate nutrition needed
to sustain or improve their health. Meals on Wheels gives these individuals the opportunity to enjoy a warm and nutritious meal while interacting with
volunteers on a regular basis. Throughout my time with VON, I learned first hand about the limitations caused by physical decline, the rise of new
activities in old age and the importance community service through volunteer work has on an elderly person's life.
More children surviving infancy and entering old age have led to an increased rate of chronic illnesses (Novak, M., Campbell, L., Northcott, H.
2013). The Meals on Wheels program was established to assist these individuals, specifically the elderly, who may not have the physical ability or
desire to prepare or cook meals for themselves. This

The Doubts of Eating Out
Sadie and her family always eat out. They never have time to sit together as a family and eat a home cooked meal. Since Sadie always grabbed fast
food on the run, she was gaining weight fast. Additionally, buying food from restaurants almost every day was making Sadie's wallet go empty. Also,
since her family never made the time to eat together as a family, Sadie was weakening her relationship with her siblings and parents. They started
talking less to each other about their lives and just kept to themselves. Sadie thought about how nice it would be if her family would eat together at the
dinner table instead of in the car. Sitting down to a home cooked meal is more beneficial than eating out. Eating at home is better because it is more...

Having home cooked meals eliminates problems because the food is healthier. For example, Lidia had a traumatic experience dealing with seeing her
fast food being made. She was sitting with her family at a restaurant called Manny's Too, located in Fulton, Illinois. As she was sitting there waiting
for her tacos, she noticed a window in the door that showed what was going on in the kitchen. Lidia watched as the cook plopped two heaping
spoonful's of pork grease in the fryer to make her tacos. After seeing this, Lidia lost her appetite. She knew that if she ate something so saturated in
grease, she would have achy stomach pains. Lidia's story is a great example of how unhealthy fast food meals are. The unhealthiness of fast food can
cause intense health complications. Since eating out is unhealthy for the body, having homemade meals removes health problems. Unlike fast food,
home cooked meals eliminate difficulties dealing with health. Eating at home is not only healthier, but it also saves money.
While eating at home, money can be saved that could otherwise be wasted by eating out. Those who choose to eat fast food regularly are at risk of
losing money. Purchasing burger after burger, even though they may be cheap, can end up being pretty pricy. (Insert Fact about outrageous fast food
prices). Based on this evidence, home cooked meals are better than eating fast food. Even though eating at home saves money, the most important part

Ever since I was younger, I have been an athlete. Because I have always been an athlete, I have always loved food. My family also enjoys going out
to restaurants to celebrate or just for a family dinner. Therefore, I have been to many restaurants in my lifetime. Now that I am a hungry athlete at
Wheeling Jesuit, I enjoy visiting all of the local restaurants Wheeling, West Virginia has to offer. However, who is to say which is the best? To be able
to decide which restaurant is the finest, I set up criteria to judge restaurants off of. After researching, I found food quality, respectable service,

The criteria are important for deciding whether a restaurant is of better quality. Furthermore, criteria are necessary for the argument behind the
restaurant that is chosen as the best. Food quality, respectable service, reasonable price, and atmosphere were chosen as the criteria. Without the
criteria, anything could go wrong. Someone could be driving down the road and choose to eat at a restaurant that resembled a shack. Maybe the
person choosing the restaurant thinks it will be a nice and rustic, but the restaurant's atmosphere is all wrong; the place is a total mess. The
customer receives their food, and their meat is green. Food poisoning or worms could result from this atrocious meal. There is a parasitic disease
called trichinosis that could result from eating raw or uncooked meat. Let's say that the food was actually fine, but the service was terrible. The
food arrived late and the smelly waiter had a sassy attitude. A whole day could be ruined. The customer could be late to the occasion they had to
make after the meal due to their food arriving late. Furthermore, the customer will be in a terrible mood from receiving back talk from the waiter.
This kind of instance could affect other people as well. Maybe the customer had to go meet up with friends or family after the meal. Now, the
customer would be in a bad mood, causing all of the others to also be in a bad mood. As you can see, criteria become very important in choosing

Open Hands Atlanta Case Study
Open Hands Atlanta was founded over 27 years ago by Michael Edwards, when he, along with friends, decided to cook meals for neighbors who were
dying of HIV/AIDS. The agency has since grown and provides medically–appropriate meals and nutrition education for people in the metro Atlanta
area living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases. According to the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, the Atlanta area accounts for
66% of the total AIDS cases in Georgia. During the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, Michael Edwards took notice of a need and decided to
address it. In order for an agency to be successful, a passion for service must be present throughout the workers of the agency. Open Hands Atlanta
was able to expand in order to impact the lives of more people who may or may not be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Open Hands Atlanta is advocating
for the healthier lifestyles of people within the metro Atlanta area, which many do not commonly advocate for.

Take Away, By Jhumpa Lahiri And Pot Roast By Mark Strand
Around the world food is an international experience. It does not matter what a person's race is or where they originated from, the culture of food is
what brings people together. The diversity of food in one's meal often brings back different memories from people's past. In the poem, "Pot Roast," by
Mark Strand and the short story, "Indian Takeout," by Jhumpa Lahiri both discuss about their experience withfood and present how food is significant
to their culture.
Although Lahiri's and Strand's stories might seem different because of their style of writing they are actually similar due to their fascinating
experience, appropriate use of diction, and significant value of food.

According to Alfred Rosa, "concrete diction refers to words that stimulate some kind of sensory response in the reader" (Rosa 55). The description of
her father sipping on mangoes allowed the reader to feel the sensation of tasting the oozing juice of the fruit. In addition to that, her audience can also
sense the taste of the sweet, sticky oranges Lahiri's mother ate. Lahiri used specific diction when describing the yogurt cups and her sister's Moghlai
paraths. The reader can visualize what the author saw by describing the red clay yogurt cups and the 'flat–bread folded, omelet–style' Moghlai paraths.
Lahiri's choice of words gave an amusing effect on her readers to participate in what she sensed and felt in her story. In the poem, "Pot Roast," the
speaker described his memory of his mother's pot roast through simplistic, yet descriptive, poetic versus. Strand also provided his readers concrete
and specific diction in his poem. According to Strand "to inhale the steam that rises from my plate...I remember the gravy, its odor of garlic and
celery, and sopping it up with pieces of bread" (Strand 269). The speaker presented the reader a visual of the hot steam rising from the meal. He also
provided supplies his readers with the sensation he felt when inhaling the aroma of the ingredients used in the pot roast. Although Strand's poem is
quite shorter than Lahiri's short story,

Characteristics Of The Upcoming Generation
The Upcoming Generation
Millennials represent over 83 million citizens in the United States which is over a quarter of the nation's population (United States Census Bureau).
Although the millennial disposable income is less than the previous generation ($12,000 less), millennials expect more for their money when they
spend it (Market line). The expectation for more for their money directly relates towards their food habits. When millennials choose what food they
want, they consider the experience associated with the food they purchase. The combination of the unique experience cooking and the affordable meal
kit is substantially important to millennials when they choose what food they want.
"This generation has been the beacon of hope for the future of brands and companies, and the focus has shifted from the future to the here and now as
Millennials are well into adulthood" –Forbes
Now that this major demographic is self–reliant and independent, there should be a target on this demographic to sweep up their incomes. Marketing
towards millennials would show them that Home Chef creates a perfect way to enjoy a unique home cooked meal while enjoying the experience. The
Convenient Match
Home Chef brings three key characteristics that match perfectly with the millennial generation: convenience, at home cooking, and a healthy option.
According to Market Line when choosing a place to order food millennials favor vendors that offer convenient service and an unique experience. Home

Fine Dining Steps Of Service
Fine Dining Steps of Service Fine Dining is an experience that is unique in itself. The server makes each guest feel like they are special and the
quality of service received reflects just that. Each step of service not only makes the guest feel welcome and appreciated, but also contributes to the
entire experience. Without one element of this process going as expected, it can throw off the entire experience and turn a good one into a disaster.
To have a good dining experience, a server must provide the following step of service to a guest: the meet and greet, taking the orders, the delivery of
the meal, checking back, clearing of the table, dessert/coffee/tea, and delivery of the check. The first and most important step of service is the meet
and greet. This is the server's first impression and can set the mood for the remainder of the guest dining experience. The server must always
approach the table with warm welcoming smile, say hello, and introduce him/herself by name. Remember this smile needs to be genuine. The server
should ask how the guests are doing and be sincere about it. If the introduction includes a first name, the guests can actually make a personal
connection to the server. Servers who smile and use a name become more important to the guests and whom are more likely to return to the restaurant
asking for those servers by name. Guests need for the first impression to be a good experience to set the mood for the rest of the dining

Meals On Wheels: A Case Study
Meals on wheels was the other nonprofit organization that I analyzed in my leadership style and theories overview. I choose meals on wheels
because I discovered that there target audience is the elderly population in the United States. The biggest difference with this nonprofit compared to
the other nonprofits I have discussed is that they operate with volunteers that do a variety of different jobs from preparing the meals, delivering
them, serving them, to helping in the office and even visiting to make sure they senior is safe (Meals, 2015). When the research I conducted showed
how many seniors are living alone across the country it was truly shocking with are 25 percent and from the 25 percent 15 percent are unable to drive

leadership theory. Servant Leadership theory argues that a philosophy of leadership should represent a servant first and a leader after (Wolinski, 2010,
p.3). This idea is revolutionary to the nonprofit sector because it focuses on the importance of actually serving the community rather than just running

A Report On Flight Service
The courteous and attentive in–flight service determines if every passenger has a sound experience while they are traveling by airplane. In fact, the
in–flight service is made more complicated by four principal components following: the safety of aircraft, excellent facilities, an entertainment system
and dining service. The dining service will be the only object of the analysis to avoid confusion. People tend to dislike airline food because of its
terrible taste, though it was the highlight of the air travel in the past. Meanwhile, it is a fascinating object to study because it has no need of the large
economies of scale, but it has many barriers to entry on account of the very high standards for the chef. As a kind of by–product of the airline industry,
although launching a new business in the market of the airline meal is risky, it would be worth taking a gamble in the short run. The appropriate
examples in the market of the airline meal can be used to define the product and the market in turn. In the process, people can have a very clear notion
of market of the airline meal and form their opinion on the question that if a new company should enter the market. The product of the in–flight dining,
the meals served by the crew, is a diversified private good. A private product in economics is defined to be the excludable and rivalrous good. The meal
is a kind of private good because the meal is rival, in other words, the food eaten by a person cannot be shared to and

My First Cultural Immersion Experience

  • 1. My First Cultural Immersion Experience After my first cultural immersion experience interviewing Rabbi Tepper, I resolved to experience my second cultural immersion activity with the Jewish community. Ultimately, I wanted both of my encounters to be with one culture. I desired to achieve a deeper understanding of one culture, rather than gaining superficial understanding of two dissimilar cultures. Furthermore, I wanted my second immersion experience to consist of several activities. Rabbi Tepper was kind enough to invite me to attend Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath) andTorah study. These comprised a large portion of my overall experience. My hope was to include an activity that was more intimate as well, such as social time spent in the home or a shared meal. As luck would have it, I was able to share a meal with the congregation after Shabbat. This meal was a celebratory meal of the conversion of two individuals to Judaism. I was rather nervous leading up to attending the Shabbat service (my first activity), but I was also excited. The nervousness partially stemmed from not knowing what the proper etiquette for attending a Shabbat service and part of it was just a general anxiety about experiencing something new and different. When I first arrived I felt very out of place, Rabbi Tepper immediately located me, greeted me warmly and introduced me to a family whom I could sit with and ask question should I have any throughout the service. The service took about an hour and a half. Much of the service consisted of hymns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. City Meals On Wheels Essay I believe that one of the most precious things in our lives is our elders. It is sad to see that so many of them are neglected in a day to day bases. As I went through this course I learned so much not only about an issue with aging but also about the many services and organizations that help the elderly. Before this course I knew that there were service out there, but I honestly couldn't tell you where or what they offered. One agency that I actually volunteered at for the day was the City meals on Wheels. City meals on Wheels is a program that provides meals for elderly whom are homebound in New York City. They provide meals for people in all five boroughs. City meals have been opened since 1981 and 57% of the elderly whom receive meals live alone. 40% of the meals delivered are for the elderly that very rarely or never leave their homes and 66% of their recipients are women. In order to qualify for home–delivered meals, a person needs to be at least 60 years old. They must also suffer from chronic physical or mental disability that would prevent him or her from being able to go grocery shopping or preparing meals for themselves. The agency partners with community–based organizations and senior centers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have volunteers who visit the elderly regularly. City meals has also provide workers and volunteers with Elder Abuse & Alzheimer's Disease Training. The majority of the time meal deliverers are sometimes the only people who will see elderly's who receive meals on a regular basis. For the most part they become familiar with the meal recipients' personalities and their overall behaviors. Because of this, they are usually the first ones to notice if something is wrong. • 3. Meal Plan Research Paper Why do colleges make their meal plans for students very costly? Are they too expensive? Are meal plans or college food healthy? Throughout the 21st century college has become more essential to attend and get a job after graduating. As compared to back then when with just a high school degree an individual could live off a decent job. However, as college became more important, the price of college also increased including, the cost of dorms, tuition, fees, books, and most importantly meal plans. Within all of the college expenses, the price of meal plans has also increased. Food is one of the most important necessity a human being needs to survive. Furthermore, the price is not the only factor, the health and regulations of a student's meal plan also comes into play. Colleges provide a huge variety of food, most of it being fast food. The main research question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Students are surrounded by unhealthy food off or on campus. In a research done by nutritionists, they came to a conclusion that students without meal plans wasted more money on fast food and consumed more fast food ('Cost and Calorie of Fast Food'). This was all due to convenience of the students without meal plans, since they cannot get into dining halls, and most do not have time to cook or do not know how to cook, therefore they turn to fast food for a quick meal. Due to the fact that there are plenty of fast food restaurants on or nearby mostly any university campus in America. Researchers in the Cost and Calorie of Fast Food also conducted that the average students waste $71 on fast food and consumed about 12,000 of fast food per month (pg.944). People may say that it is the students fault for not eating right or wasting money on fast food, but it's actually the colleges that deicide what type of food to surround its students with. • 4. What Makes A Quick Lunch For An Economical Price? In today's society, Americans want everything quick and cost–effective, so the question stands what is a quick lunch for an economical price? Americans live in a world that surrounds them with a variety of fast food restaurants; such as, McDonald's and Checkers two of the most well–known fast food restaurants. Far from what we imagined, McDonald's and Checkers have a vast distinction of uniqueness. Most people perceive them as the same fast food restaurant with distinctive names. For this reason, people debate on which one of them is the superior restaurant and which one is the more economical restaurant. Even though, both McDonald's and Checkers have equivalence, their distinctions become undeniable when we analyze McDonald's quality of service, value meals, and family friendly environment. The quality of service in today's world is a must; both McDonald's and Checkers offer it in a distinctive manner. Providing quality service means meeting the material as well as the emotional needs of a customer before, during, and after the initial purchase or contact and having sufficient processes in place where the same level of service is provided consistently. McDonald's provides service with two of the easiest and most convenient ways to order food, and gives the ultimate fast food experience. McDonald's allows the customers to order inside providing a face–to–face ordering experience at a fast pace. A second option customers have is to order through a drive–through and have ... I was given the task of feeding the patient at lunch time as she requires one to one support at meal times due to her lack of willingness to consume solids and fluids. • 7. Inequality In Virginia Woolf We are all created equal, but we are not treated as equals. We like to believe that everyone is equal, but society doesn't treat everyone as what they were when created, equal. Virginia Woolf writes of society's inequality through describing two meals from two different colleges. What mattered was neither where the college was nor the name of it, but what mattered was that one was for men and the other for women. Woolf was was served onemeal from the colleges and there were some striking differences. Through her writing, Woolf's use of vocabulary, tone, and emotional appeal help support her attitude that women aren't treated equal compared to men. In reading both passages, there is a clear difference in her vocabulary for describing the meals. "Here, however, I shall take the liberty to defy that convention and to tell you that the lunch on this occasion began with soles, sunk in deep dish, over which the college cook had spread a counterpane of the whitest cream, save that it was branded here and there with brown spots like the spots on the flanks of a doe" (Woolf,Passage 1, Sentence 4). "Here was the soup. It was a plain gravy soup. There was nothing to stir the fancy in that" (Woolf, Passage 2, Sentence 6–8). Not only was there a change in vocabulary, but there was also a change in the length of her sentences. Woolf's experience in the men's college was given a lot of detail compared to her experience in the women's college. We can infer, from her vocabulary, that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Descriptive Essay On Olive Garden Olive Garden is a family friendly restaurant that specializes in Italian–American dishes, and is well known for their soup, salad, and breadsticks. My family and I ate dinner at Olive Garden in Lafayette, Indiana. The criteria used to rate our experience was the flavor, appearance, and healthfulness of the food, the prompt and efficiency of the service, the price of the meal, and the lighting and decor of the atmosphere. When it comes to the best service, food, price, and atmosphere Olive Garden excels and continues to please their customers. The atmosphere of any restaurant is a very important in making a first impression on their customers. When a customer decides to try a new restaurant, if there is a bad atmosphere they may not want to return to the restaurant. The Italian theme of Olive Garden is expressed throughout the outside decor of the building. The outside is decorated with vines which are very reminiscent of Italian style buildings with a beautiful entryway. The entrance of the restaurant was nicely decorated. Since it is around Christmas they had a beautiful Christmas tree up, as well as garland and red bows. The lighting of the restaurant was neither to dark or to bright. There was plenty of light to be able to see the menu, and the light created a relaxed atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The service was very efficient and prompt throughout the meal. • 9. What is The Eucharist? The Eucharist is a sacrament that gives expression to our faith. Sacraments are a sign of our intimate unity with God. There is a rich, deep connection between what the Church is and what sacraments are that is profoundly evident in the celebration of the Eucharist. God's presence is mediated by the Church and its' sacraments "to an unseen reality and ... [makes] that reality "present" to us." "The church is impossible without the Eucharist" , the centre of our Christian lives. Memorial is an integral part of Eucharist. With origins in the Passover meal, we cannot understand Eucharist without knowledge of Passover. The symbolism of both rituals is deeply entwined; we remember, give thanks, worship, and renew our covenant with God. Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Although scholars are uncertain as to whether the Last Supper was the Passover meal, it "took place in the atmosphere of the Passover" . The Last Supper added a new dimension to the Jewish ritual meal, "in terms of what (or better who) was celebrated" . Jesus asked the disciples to "do this in memory of me" (1 Cor 11:24, The NIV study Bible). It is not merely a memorial recalling past covenants and sacrifices, but central to the Church, acting powerfully in the present and opening out towards the future. Denis Edwards says we often forget that "every Eucharist has a thanks giving memorial for God at work in creation as well as in redemption." Early Christian Eucharistic prayers, with origins in ... Model the Way LifeCare Alliance's overall mission is to "lead the community in identifying and delivering health and nutrition services to meet the community's changing needs" (Lifecare, 2015). According to McDonald (2007), the mission of a nonprofit organization should satisfy needs that are inadequately met by private and profit organizations. There are many profit and private organizations in the central Ohio area that do not effectively cater to the needs of poor, inner–city senior citizens. It was evident that LifeCare Alliance's Meals–On–Wheels Program modeled its mission by satisfying the needs of the impoverished, elderly adults who may go unrecognized by the Columbus city system. I was able to witness and assist this non–profit organization in fulfilling its mission by servicing food and friendly, warm interactions with the individuals in need throughout the Columbus area. Meals–on–Wheels program helped satisfied the community's changing needs by preparing meals geared towards special individuals. For example, some clients were vegetarians or needed kosher meals and our kitchen was able to supply them with their needs. They were also given a food item menu, which enabled clients to choose from many dinner entrГ©e options. This experience was valuable because I got to see service users feeling like they were doing something helpful and important for the community. Reflection Of Meals On Wheels Meals on Wheels was an incredible experience that enabled myself, as well as other students of the St. Mary's University community, to learn while gaining insights towards the world that we may be unfamiliar towards. Throughout the past weeks with Meals on Wheels, I have gained a sense of understanding that focuses not solely on my needs, but the needs of others. For so long in my life, I did not care much about using my free time to be an active citizen. Before taking this course, my free time consisted of activities to benefit my own wellbeing. While being enrolled in the Civic Engagement course at St. Mary's University, I have gained a passion towards others that allows myself to view others within our community through a different perspective. Understanding that we are all in this together We all depend on another individual at one point during our life, whether it may have been a parent or guardian in our youth, or a caretaker during your last few years of life. Meals on Wheels provided meals to clients all over the United States that have been dependent on volunteers. These elderly individuals of the community depend on volunteers throughout the country each day to receive a prepared meal that would lower the food expenses in their monthly budgets. It was an eye–opening experience that demonstrates the vast number of people that face hunger on a daily basis. It also illustrated the limited control people have over their situation. When first arriving to the event, everyone drew a card to determine what income group they would be in. The proportion of income groups assigned was proportionally equivalent to the spread of wealth in the real world. I was a part of the largest group assigned to the lowest income group. With my low–income card, I was allowed to serve myself one small bowl of Ramen noodles. People in the medium income group were able to grab themselves a plate of spaghetti, and the highest income group was served their meal, which was spaghetti and meatballs with cookies. Seeing the proportion of the world that lives below the poverty line was eye–opening. The content of the meals also demonstrated the challenges of eating healthy on a low budget. People in the high–income group ate a well–balanced spaghetti and meatball meal. The low–income group ate Ramen noodles, which has very little nutritional value. The quantity of food and the types of food being eaten were very different from what I was accustomed to prior to my visit. Polenta, Gnocchi and Grappa were the food and drink that stood out the most to me. To me they are identifiable Italian foods and were not something I had been introduced to prior to my visit. • 21. What Role Does Food Play In The Life Of The Javanese Food is a powerful character in the lives of muslims, as it allows them to observe Ramadan. This character allowed muslims, such as the Javanese in the 19th century, Batavia, to build social relations with their community members, families and friends, as they were able to consume their meals together. Food also played a role in bringing the Javanese closer to Islam, as abstaining from food taught them their purposes in the community and allowed them to purify themselves by abstaining from certain unholy acts. The fasts that the Javanese observed during Ramadan really created a religious space where social relations and faith merged to become one and the same. Quite amazingly, I was able to understand this importance that food had in the lives of the Javanese through my four days spent observing Ramadan as a well–born Javanese in the 19th century in Batavia. The Javanese, along with all muslims, await Ramadan, as we await Christmas or birthdays. For them, it is a time to explore their divine religion and to wholly devote themselves to God. The followers of Ramadan had several religious attitudes towards fasting, some of which consisted of: means of showing obedience to Allah, helping to gain self–control, finding a source of spiritual power, learning how to feel for the poor, and learning to endure suffering. However, some muslims were just as likely to reject fasting due to opposing beliefs, though this was only around 2% of the muslims in Indonesia. Most of the muslims ... Mealtime is one of the most important times of the day. We experience it daily. During mealtime we experience many sensory things. We experience taste, texture, smell, and touch. We also communicate and socialize. We think mealtime is something that is normal for everyone. I chose this topic because many people do not realize that children and adults experience mealtime sensory deficits. We will also have personal experience Children with sensory deficits fixate on what they enjoy. A child with autism may only eat certain foods such as chicken nuggets, pizza, or mac and cheese. Diet in a child's life is very important. A child that only eats certain things may experience some nutritional deficits. To be healthy, we need to introduce a variety of foods to their diet. All children are picky eaters at some point, but sensory deficit children exceed this phase. Raising Cane 's A Restaurant Raising Cane 's Restaurant The food industry in Louisiana has been growing over the years and the Raising Cane 's Restaurant has been on the forefront in offering some of the best delicacies I have tasted in my life. Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure of experiencing different restaurants and I can admit the experience has not been disappointing at Raising Cane 's Restaurant. For anyone looking to experience a different taste of chicken, look no further than Raising Cane.Raising Cane mostly serves chicken fingers. In fact, the restaurant's name is Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. As its name suggests, it offers a variety of meals, but chicken meals are their main foods. Todd Graves, who is the C.E.O of the restaurant and Craig Silvey who was Todd's partner and currently the vice president of information technology and finance established the restaurant in August 1996. The restaurant has its headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which was the location of the first restaurant. Today, Raising Cane is found in over 250 locations in the U.S and other countries including Kuwait as of September in 2015. I set out to visit the restaurant for lunch last Friday and the first thing I noticed was its theme color, which is red. It is because of that love and support that I feel a strong obligation to be the best person I can be by working hard and caring about the world around me. However, my greatest personal growth has come from more direct acts of kindness that go largely unrecognized to anyone other than the recipient. Evaluation Of A Volunteer Placement Essay When I began searching for a placement, I wanted each day to include new people and opportunities to ensure I was getting the most out of my experience. I chose to complete a volunteer placement with the not–for–profit organization, Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) in its 'Meals on Wheels' program. My volunteer experience with 'Meals on Wheels' allowed me to become immersed in a sub–culture of individuals volunteering their time to help ailing people within the community. Meals on Wheels specializes in delivering nourishing meals to individuals in Hamilton and surrounding areas. Recipients of this service may have difficulty shopping or preparing meals, which prevents them from getting the proper and adequate nutrition needed to sustain or improve their health. Meals on Wheels gives these individuals the opportunity to enjoy a warm and nutritious meal while interacting with volunteers on a regular basis. Throughout my time with VON, I learned first hand about the limitations caused by physical decline, the rise of new activities in old age and the importance community service through volunteer work has on an elderly person's life. More children surviving infancy and entering old age have led to an increased rate of chronic illnesses (Novak, M., Campbell, L., Northcott, H. 2013). The Meals on Wheels program was established to assist these individuals, specifically the elderly, who may not have the physical ability or desire to prepare or cook meals for themselves. This ... Lidia watched as the cook plopped two heaping spoonful's of pork grease in the fryer to make her tacos. After seeing this, Lidia lost her appetite. She knew that if she ate something so saturated in grease, she would have achy stomach pains. Lidia's story is a great example of how unhealthy fast food meals are. • 36. Fine Dining Steps Of Service Fine Dining Steps of Service Fine Dining is an experience that is unique in itself. The server makes each guest feel like they are special and the quality of service received reflects just that. Each step of service not only makes the guest feel welcome and appreciated, but also contributes to the entire experience. Without one element of this process going as expected, it can throw off the entire experience and turn a good one into a disaster. To have a good dining experience, a server must provide the following step of service to a guest: the meet and greet, taking the orders, the delivery of the meal, checking back, clearing of the table, dessert/coffee/tea, and delivery of the check. The first and most important step of service is the meet and greet. This is the server's first impression and can set the mood for the remainder of the guest dining experience. The server must always approach the table with warm welcoming smile, say hello, and introduce him/herself by name. Remember this smile needs to be genuine. The server should ask how the guests are doing and be sincere about it. If the introduction includes a first name, the guests can actually make a personal connection to the server.
