Reproduction in ANGIOSPERMS(Heterosporous land plants)
Microspores/Male spores Megaspores/ Female spores
Microsporangia
Microsporocytes
undergo meiosis
four microspore haploid cells(tetrad)
undergo mitosis
form a tube cell and a generative cell
Release all cell( pollen grain)
Generative cell into sperm cell
Yes , It will
produce.
Whether
angiosperms
produce spores
or not?
How? Lets See
What is heterosporous plant? Plant which can produce two kind of spores. One is male/microspore. Another one is mega/ female spore.
What is use of this spore? Spore develops reproductive parts in plants.
What is microsporangia? pollen sacs(Microsporangia) in which microsporocytes are present. occurs in the ‘anther of the flower’ in
angiosperms and the ‘male cone’ of the gymnosperms. In angiosperms, microsporangium is surrounded by four cell layers known as
epidermis, endothecium, middle layers, and tapetum.
What is microsporocytes? microsporocytes, which are diploid cells capable of undergoing meiosis to form a tetrad (four joined cells)
of haploid microspores.
What is another name for microsporocyte? Microspore mother cells/ pollen mother cell also called microsporocytes
What is the mother cell? In cell division, a mother or parent cell is the cell that divides to give rise to two daughter cells. In mitosis, the two
daughter cells contain the same genetic content as the mother cell. In meiosis, the daughter cells have different genetic content and half the
number of chromosomes of the mother cell.
Microsporogenesis: Formation of haploid microspore by reductional division (meiosis) in diploid spore mother cell is called.
Where will microsporogenesis occur? The process of microsporogenesis takes place inside the microsporangia which is located inside the
anther.
What is Microspore Tetrad? Microspore tetrad means four cells. Each cell is haploid. Four haploid cells. Microspore tetrad are formed at the
end of microsporogenesis. Formation of tetrad occurs due to reduction division or meiosis
Microspore : Microspore is one of the two types of spores produced by heterosporous land plants. It is small and the large type of spore is the
megaspore.
Microspore will be became into? The microspores become pollen grains and may eventually separate.
What is the use of microspore? Microspores are land plant spores that develop into male gametophytes
What is male gametophyte in angiosperm? Pollen grain is the male gametophyte and The male gametophyte completes its early development
within the anther
What is the function of Malegametophyte? Functions of the gametophytes are the production of the 'sperm cells’.
Stamen-the male fertilizing organ of a flower,
Stamen- anther + filament.
Use of stamen: main function of the stamen is to produce the pollen grains,
which house male gametes, or sex cells, necessary for reproduction
Pollen sac: The structure in seed plants in which pollen is produced. In angiosperms there are usually four
pollen sacs in each anther; they contain the microspore mother cells. In gymnosperms variable numbers of
pollen sacs are borne on the microsporophylls that make up the male cone. "pollen sac.“
Pollen – collection of pollen grains.
Pollen grains- is typically a single cell. They have a tough coat for protection as they travel on the wind
or are carried to the plant ovary. They are the male gametes or sperm cells of plants
Anther -The anther is located within the stamen where these gametes
are created. Anther which contains microsporangia
Filament: A stamen typically consists of a stalk called the filament
