1. ExecutiveSummary
Uran Khatola is a platform meant for inter-city food delivery. We pick the choicest of food items
from the best restaurants in selected cities and give consumers anywhere in the country the
option to pick their favorite dishes and have them at their homes. We are backed by quick
delivery through the best courier services that work as our partners.
The idea was conceived due to the love for tasty and high-quality food served by restaurants
that are based out of certain cities only and are often out of reach for consumers in other cities
than these. These restaurants have become legendary for what they offer and have created a
nation-wide name for themselves. Their brand name and value itself drives people across the
country craving for their delicious food.
Presently it is possible to order and transport food within a city because such food portals exist.
But it is not possible to order food items from one city to another. Also, superior quality of food
makes it more sought after. Another striking point about our food is the food preservation
techniques that we adopt to keep the quality of food intact even during transit. We vacuum-
pack the food in special containers and also store perishable items in ice packs. All of this
makes our food storage, transportation and delivery technologically advanced.
We have also thought of promoting upcoming chefs by advocating and conducting
competitions to showcase their cookery and bring them business through our unique platform.
At this stage we are looking for seed-funding to support our start-up. The funding will be
required to support our existing team, expand our business lines and upgrade our existing
team.
2. The Business
The business is trying to solve the problem of making available legendary and the highest
quality of food at select places to others in the country where it is not available. Mobility is hard
to achieve and food has to be preserved well to keep up the high standards set by these brands.
Using our cutting-edge food preservation techniques, we aim to not only preserve the taste but
also the quality of food items thus giving our consumer the luxury of having the best food at his
or her doorstep.
Inter-city food delivery has not been tried before. We are the pioneers in this business. Apart
from this, we encourage innovative ideas such as performing competitions amongst upcoming
chefs to promote their businesses through our platform. The whole concept of an online food
delivery platform like ours is new and is yet to be tried out.
We collaborate with the restaurant owners and take a cut from their orders that are placed
through our platform. Our target audience would comprise those that order food in bulk, either
for occasions or large consumption. Since the orders placed typically involve more money than
a regular restaurant visit and assure the restaurants of more sales, they are able to share some
of their business profits with us.
3. The Customer
The customer benefits from our services by getting the best of the best food at their doorstep
through our platform. At the time of throwing parties, people usually go around searching for
good caterers or arrange for food available locally. We give them the option to go far and wide
through our platform and get the best for themselves.
They have more choices to choose from, where all of the choices are top choices in the country.
The customer is given the option to choose from a menu of selected cuisines or restaurants
located in prime locations in the country. These restaurants have been known to serve the
highest quality of food and have become synonymous with success over the last few decades.
They are a household name in these cities.
The food is well-preserved with our unique packaging technology; hence chances of complaints
are less. And we have partnered with courier and delivery services that ensure the food is
handed over to the customer at the right time without delay, so there are little chances of
spoilage and the shelf life of the food item is preserved.
In a country as diverse as India, it is sometimes not possible to have food particular to one
region in another region in the country. Due to the regional diversity, it becomes difficult for
people to savor regional food. We make that happen too.
4. The Market
There are food delivery websites that help order and serve food from restaurants within the
city. Such websites do not cater food from restaurants located in another city.
We do exactly that. We help order, takeaway and deliver food from another city. And we have
the best restaurants with best delicacies lined up for our customers.
Besides inter-city food delivery from restaurants, we would also like to introduce other verticals
like running food contests to promote upcoming chefs, featuring chefs on our platform and
running other food related events.
The target market for the business plan extends beyond Tier 1 cities to Tier 2 and 3 cities. Tier 2
cities in India constitute around 3 million residents. And the services are accessible to Tier 1 city
dwellers who would want to indulge in specialties available only in certain selected locations.
