The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card–sized single-board computers developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of promoting the teaching of basic computer science in schools. The original Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pi 2 are manufactured in several board configurations through licensed manufacturing agreements with Newark element14 (Premier Farnell), RS Components and Egoman. These companies sell the Raspberry Pi online. Egoman produces a version for distribution solely in China and Taiwan, which can be distinguished from other Pis by their red colouring and lack of FCC/CE marks. The hardware is the same across all manufacturers. The original Raspberry Pi is based on the Broadcom BCM2835 system on a chip (SoC), which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU, and was originally shipped with 256 megabytes of RAM, later upgraded (models B and B+) to 512 MB. The system has Secure Digital (SD) (models A and B) or MicroSD (models A+ and B+) sockets for boot media and persistent storage.

network settings.
 Back the network interface file:sudo cp /etc/network/interfaces
/etc/network/interfaces.backup.
 type:sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
 Look for the eth0 line which corresponds to the Raspberry pi
ethernet (RJ45) port

 edit the file to look similar to this:
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.100.1.102
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.100.1.1
 Set the address to the IP address you want the Raspberry Pi to
occupy.
Once the file has been updated, use ctrl x to save and exit.
 Type:sudo shutdown -r now to restart.

 Open the wpa-supplicant configuration file in nano:
 sudo nano /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
 Go to the bottom of the file and add the following:
 reboot your Raspberry Pi.

SSH Introduction
 Secure Shell (SSH) is a UNIX-based command interface and protocol
for securely getting access to a remote computer.
 SSH is actually a suite of three utilities - slogin, ssh, and scp.
 Both ends of the client/server connection are authenticated using a
digital certificate, and passwords are protected by being
encrypted.
 SSH allows you to connect to your server securely and perform Linux
command-line operations.

Using putty
 Type the IP address of the Pi into the “Host name” and click Open.
 You'll now have the usual login prompt, login with the same
username and password as you would use on the Pi itself.
 The default login for Raspbian is ‘pi’ with the password ’raspberry’.
