2. WOW! Did you know that?
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics ONLY 6 out of 10 children
between the ages of 5 and 14 participate in sport outside of school.
Sport and physical exercise can reduce the risk of obesity, increase
cardiovascular fitness, improve coordination and balance, facilitate better
sleep, and significantly improve social skills.
Regular exercise has also been proven to reduce the risk of emotional
problems such as anxiety and depression!
It’s all about creating habits of exciting and regular physical activity now!
3. However, physical activity is not the only aspect of PDHPE that
is important.
Within the classroom, students will also be learning about…
Physical, Social, Cognitive and Emotional growth and
development patterns
Development and maintenance of positive interpersonal
relationships
Factors influencing personal health choices
Living and learning in a safe environment
Adoption of an active lifestyle
Fundamental movement skills
4. Participation in physical activity can
also help in the classroom!
- Improved concentration
- Enhanced memory and learning
- Higher levels of self-esteem
- Overall better performance
5. It is now our job to make PDHPE an
important aspect of the daily
schooling routine. Parents and
teachers must get involved today in
order to better the youth of today!
Time to have fun and have a go!!
6. “Sport has the power to unite people in a way little else can.
Sport can create hope. Breaks down racial barriers… laughs in
the face of discrimination… speaks to people in a language
they can understand.”
- Nelson Mandela
