2. AUSTRALIAN BUREAU OF STATISTIC FACTS



Statistics from the Australian Bureau of Statistics(ABS) state that in 20112012 children aged 5-17 years (24% of boys and 27% of girls) are either
overweight or obese (ABS, 2013).
Without the knowledge of Physical Development & health (PDH) we wouldn’t
know about these risk factors and what they can do.
When we know the risks and we know how to prevent them by doing
Physical Education (PE) which includes many sporting or exercising
activities.

3. WHAT DOES PDHPE GIVE US?




PDHPE promotes involvement in Physical activity long term.
Provides students the necessary skills to decision make for themselves.
Provides one with a positive wellbeing and values everyone around them
and themselves.
It is a requirement in the PDHPE Syllabus (2007) that the students gain
knowledge of how to lead a healthy, active and fulfilling lifestyle.

4. PDHPE PROVIDES








Game sense
5 core skills which include Moving, Problem-solving, communicating,
Decision making and interacting.
Personal Development, Self-esteem and wellbeing.
Human Sexuality and bodily functions
Healthy Diet and lifestyle which helps disease prevention
Bullying and abuse
Road Safety
Dealing with depression

5. PDHPE AND OTHER SUBJECTS?

In Fact in PDHPE we teach students a healthy lifestyle
so that they are healthy and focused when that
happens students tend to be more focused in other
subjects as well.

6. PDHPE IS ESSENTIAL

PDHPE is essential in primary schools as it helps the
students immensely throughout their lives and they
learn to become a productive person for the society.
