Lavender Seniors
Lavender Seniors of the East Bay I. Thesis According to the Administration on Aging, people age 65
and older currently represent 12.9% of the population of the United States as of 2009, with that
number expected to double in the next 15 years (Administration on Aging, 2014). Along with the
continued rise in the population of older adults comes an increased need for services specifically
addressing the needs of this population. Despite the increasing needs for services for older adults,
seniors are among the most overlooked and underserved populations in the United States. Being an
older adult in need of services is challenging and, seemingly, discouraging due to the lack of
services available. Amplify the typical challenges of older adults ... Show more content on

Coordinator, and an advisory board made up of community members. The majority of the remaining
staff are volunteers, which average 60–70 individuals at any given time. Lavender Seniors serves
older LGBT adults on–site (within LIFE ElderCare facilities) in the client's home and in the

Essay On Senior Citizens
Marketing to Senior Citizens When firms begin to develop products they must entertain which
markets are suited for their products to be marketed into. Therefore, firms must recognize that their
products may not be ideally suited for all segments of the market, and therefore market their
products accordingly. Positioning their product within the segment of the market that will be most
likely interested in purchasing their product. Based on this understanding firms develop marketing
strategies that focus on specific segments, one of those highly targeted segments is senior citizen
market. Firms recognize that through targeted marketing of the senior citizen segments they can

In order to target specific market segment firms must understand what exactly that segment is either
expecting or needing from the product for which the firm is developing their marketing strategy for.
Seniors can be easy marketing markets for common products that they have used regularly over
many decades, such as cars, food and typically everyday consumables, as they have built up many
decades of purchasing these products and developing brand loyalties. However, that does mean that
firms can simply rely on these segments to continue their purchases of these brands with out specific
marketing towards seniors. An example of successful marketing towards the senior citizen market
would be the McDonalds restaurants ad campaign from 2014 showcasing a grandmother and her
grand daughter, signing and playing, and then ending their day getting a meal a McDonalds. The
commercial successfully reaches a senior citizen audience by showing how eating at McDonalds can
bring happiness or serve as a bonding experience between a grandparent and grandchild. The ad
doesn't focus on any specific product at McDonalds, nor does it use flashy advertisements to
convince the viewer that McDonalds is some how better than other restaurants; the ad simply
capitalizes on the emotional connection between a grandparent and their grandchild. This simple and
effective ad showcases a marketing campaign that can find itself to be very appealing to a senior
citizen. While McDonalds show cased

LGBTQ Seniors
Graduation is quickly approaching and many seniors at UCF are experiencing the stress and fear of
being in their final semester at the university. While most seniors have similar worries about
graduating, students who are part of the LGBTQ community have additional concerns. According to
the American Civil Liberties Union, only 20 states plus the District of Columbia currently have non–
discrimination laws that prevent private employers from unfairly firing or not hiring someone based
on their sexual orientation or gender identity. These laws also protect LGBTQ individuals from
harassment in the workplace. Florida is not one of those 20 states, which creates potential problems
for LGBTQ graduates entering the workforce. While finding a job after college is a concern ... Show

"Do your homework before you apply." Dr. Bill Blank, the director of career development at Career
Services notes job–hunting as one of the biggest concerns all seniors have about graduating. Seniors
worry about "looking for opportunities that fit their background," Blank said. Career Services offers
numerous resources to guide students during their transition into the working world. Along with
career fairs, opportunities to meet employers and practice interviews organized for students, Career
Services also makes helping LGBTQ students a priority. Career Services is recognized as an OUT

LGBTQ students. With this certification, UCF students are granted access to the online OUT for
Work LGBTQ Career Resource Library. Career Services also runs events that cater to LGBTQ
students, such as the employer panel. For more information about resources Career Services

Analyzing and Interpreting Data
Analyzing and Interpreting Data As a consultant, Team A has analyzed and interpreted the second
set of data. The intent is to increase senior management's understanding of the sources of employee
dissatisfaction and too create a model that predicts employee resignation. The process will be to
combine the week two learning team assignment and week three findings with week five findings
and make recommendations to BIMS by using the statistical tables given in the appendices of the
textbook and a statistical analysis application.
Combined Weeks and Recommendations to BIMS The valuable information the first survey has
given the employees is if employees would like to stay if he or she was offered some type of bonus
for their work and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the employees feel as if they themselves, as stated by the survey and face–to–face interviews,
will not work as hard and as an overall will hurt the company as a whole and they would like the
senior management to take into account their disgrievences and communicate better with them.
Model for Predicting Employee Resignation BIMS has developed a model for predicting employee
resignation and turnover. After reviewing the surveys as well as the exit interviews; BIMS has
developed a model based on logistics regression and then analyzing the turnover. They have
developed five hypotheses from previous research of the effects of different factors affecting
resignations and turnovers. The first hypothesis is based on the length that an employee has been
with BIMS and that the more time invested in the company, the less likely they will resign. The
belief is that increased tenure strengthens the propensity for employees to remain. The second
hypothesis is that higher performing employees are less likely to resign than average to lower
performing employees. One way to ensure higher performance is to implement a contingent reward
system. In the event of continued low performance from certain employees, BIMS must be aware of
the withdraw process: a major reduction in performance, possibly to unacceptable levels, and ending
with resignation. The third hypothesis

Senior Stereotypes
In todays society there is the negative stereotype that old aged people are uneducated, unhealthy,
and a liability in the workforce. However this is a misconception in todays world and the reality is
that these characteristics do not necessarily reflect the old aged population. According to Andrew
Sixsmith, director of the Gerontology Research centre at Simon Fraser University "baby boomers
are probably one of the richest and healthiest generation in human history, as well as being better
educated than previous generations" (Luke, 2014). An issue that arises in this article concerning
Canadians is that seniors are looking towards cosmetic surgery to make their physical appearance
look better. It is stated that in this article that "this generation ... Show more content on

The activity theory states that "staying active helps with aging and well–being in later life" (Gish,
2014). According to the news article "seniors are smarter about fitness than they were at a younger
age" (Luke, 2014). This verifies that seniors are taking physical activities into consideration when
looking towards attaining good health. Compared to previous generations seniors are now
incorporating physical exercise, social work and other activities to insure good health and a decent
lifestyle. Seniors are getting involved in the community and volunteering. This allowed them to stay
active and also get social interaction with members of their own or other communities. The article
states how "Canadians 65 and over volunteered an average of 223 hours in 2010" (Luke, 2014). This
all ties into the context of the activity theory, which is a way of effectively aging by staying active.
Seniors nowadays are taking physical activities and exercise more serious than ever before. The
article also states how "As you get older, exercise becomes a little bit more intelligent," she says.
"You're looking at what your body needs and at different modes of exercise that fit with how your
body has aged" (Luke, 2014). The article discusses an individual who at the age of 70 is still

Senior Community Transition
Transitioning to an Active Senior Community
After living on their own for years, it can be hard for children to get their elderly parents to
transition to an active senior community in Reston. To their elderly parents, it may feel like they are
giving up a bit of their independence to live in a senior community.
One critical aspect to reassuring the elderly enjoy their new community is transitioning them
properly. By taking a few deliberate steps, their children can ensure that they experience a healthy
and smooth move to their new home.
Ensure They Understand the Difference in an Active Community

because they have a preconceived notion about senior

We are an organization that solely focuses on the life after High School, hopefully that is college.
Now if the military is your path, then we will prepare you for it, but we hope your path is to go to
college first. We are also about serving our community. We are seen all around the school and local

Every JROTC class is subjected different forms of curriculums compared to other classes in the
school.
Each class is divided into four year groups: first years, second years, third years, and fourth years.
Each year group is taught different aspects of leadership education and aerospace science. Through
the four years, cadets are taught how to be a leader.
Once a cadet reaches his or her fourth year, he or she will be given the opportunity to become a
flight commander. As a flight commander, cadets are expected to take control of the class in the
absence of an instructor or lead them in a lesson or assignment. Different flight commanders have
their own motivations to lead cadets. Cadet Colonel Chase Winans' motivation is "to help build the
foundations of future leaders".
Our program in and outside has impacted cadets lives forever. We have received thank you notes
from cadets that have graduated two to six years before. Cadets even now are realizing the impact of
our corps.
Cadet Technical Sergeant Connor Kennedy responses how the corps has impacted him:

DATE: November 9,2014
RE: Advice and Analysis on your meetings regarding future of Levendary Café China
WORDS: (803 word)
______________________________________________________________________________
Statement of Problem
The following three issues were the main problems in Levendary:
1. Louis Chen, Levendary's hand–picked president unwillingness to follow to the company's
direction and reporting status. This problem stems up from how he was introduced to the business.
Leventhal gave him abroad latitude to execute his plans in establishing a strong market position as a
base franchise outlet throughout China.
2. Reporting system was adopted from U.S Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which was not
a suitable practice for the growing China market.
3. For a whole year, no senior executive had visited China to see what Chen was doing. Lack of
supervision could have caused Chen to set his rules and how to operate the China market.
Decisions
1. The most important decision to take on this problem will be to ensure:
2. There are documented cultural competent management reporting system that will fit in many
cultures including China.
3. Lavendary should have more formal hiring process with set regulations to avoid more cases
similar to Chen's case.
4. The failure to supervise Chen for a whole year can be corrected by ensuring that the company has
executive and CEO meeting regularly so that important decisions on

My Best Friend
I hear footsteps coming closer from the white newly polished hall across the room. My hands are
shaking, I'm sweating from my forehead down. I'm as nervous as I could and will ever be. Is school
finally over, or is it a teacher coming to give us more work? Even worse is the principal coming?
Hopefully, if I'm lucky it's just a student coming back from the filthy, smelly, gross bathroom. Oh,
thank god it's just Ellie, my best friend. We've been besties since preschool. She has blonde hair,
brown eyes, and always wears her long, luxurious hair in a high, sleek ponytail. To think about it,
we're kind of like a power couple. Blonde and brunette. I also have long hair just not as long as
Ellie's. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and I always wear cute dresses. At least I think they're cute.
Ellie says I need a style change. My name's Valerie but you can call me V. All my friends call me
that.
RING! RING! RING! RING!
That's the loud, annoying, pounding bell. Usually I'd be disgusted to hear that bell because it would
mean I had to go to another class.(I'm still getting used to that even though we started this senior
year a couple of weeks ago.) Today it's different though. It sounds like music in my ears because
today, at this time, that blessing of a bell means school is over. Well, at least the day is. And do you
know what that means? Time to create some pranks because it's senior prank day!

Lighthouse is a small business, there are not multiple departments. One benefit of a small business is
that the advisors make key decisions as a group. For example, in January we left our former broker

substantial task of repapering all accounts. The CEO of Lighthouse is also the principal advisor of

Stage four organizations have to smooth over any remaining barriers to becoming an analytical
competitor. For instance, it could be a matter of changing the culture, ensuring decisions from upper
management are being followed through on lower levels. In order to transition to the next stage, the
company needs to strategize and focus on one or two traits that lead to an advantage. Stage five
organizations have all the components necessary to be considered an analytical competitor. The
company is exploring new metrics, examining their processes and looking for ways to improve. The
company has the data, technologies, and staff to remain competitive and profitable. In order for
Lighthouse to move through the final two stages there would need to be significant resources
devoted to increasing data available, purchasing software, and implementing ongoing analytics
projects and future planning.
How does your company create competitive advantage with analytics? Analytics is using data,
performing analyses and adjusting business processes and goals with that information (Davenport
and Harris, 2007). Unfortunately, Lighthouse is not creating a competitive advantage with analytics
at this time. The data is not available and the emphasis on analytics is not present.
How does your company compete internally on analytics? Lighthouse is not competently competing
internally on analytics. There are no shareholders, thus the only reporting that is done is

Senior Caregivers
Senior Caregivers and Joint Problems Many seniors suffer from sore and aching joints. What exactly
causes these problems to occur? While there is no one simple answer, let's take a look at a few of the
most common reasons for joint problems. As we age, the padding between the bones, cartilage,
wears and erodes. This is often accompanied by a drying up of the protective membranes and fluid
that lubricates the joints. Without the cartilage and the synovial membranes and fluid, the bones are
allowed to touch and painfully grind together. This deterioration of the joints often causes stiffness,
deformity, swelling, and pain. The most common joint problem for seniors is osteoarthritis. In fact,
Mayo Clinic notes that it is one of the most common ailments in the United States. Nearly half of all

prescription versions of these medicines. Since the long–term use of NSAIDS may have other health
complications, be sure to check with your doctor before using them. Exercise. While it may seem
that putting extra stress on the joints is only going to make things worse, exercise helps get the joints
moving and keeps them from getting stiff. Exercise also strengthens the muscles around the joints
which adds support. Lose weight. Every pound that your joints have to support increases the stress
on them. When you lose even a small amount of weight, your joint pain may decrease dramatically.
There are many reasons for joint pain, and the number of instances of joint pain increases with age.
Thankfully, there are a number of remedies that you can use to fight back and maintain your
mobility and

of the Pittsburgh retirement communities that appeal to you, you must then manage a variety of
details. In order to make the transition a smooth one, you may wish to explore a few tips and tricks
for planning your move into senior living. Deciding What to Do With Your Home If you currently
own a home, you will need to make a decision about what to do with it. You may have adult children
who wish to live in your home and take care of it. If this seems like a viable option to you, be sure to

Keep a file or notebook with receipts and special arrangements associated with the move. If you
have pets, be sure to keep them in a quiet room on moving day, and remind the movers that the pets
will be coming with you. Selecting a Community When you are looking for senior living in
Pittsburgh PA, you should have a checklist to help you with that process, as well. You will need to
decide whether independent living or assisted living is the best choice for you. If you have pets,
don't forget to ask about the pet policy at a prospective community. You might also want to
determine whether you may invite house guests to stay with you. You'll need to be sure that any fee
or lease agreements are provided in writing. You should ask to see vacant units to get a clear idea of
what to expect. Ask to meet some of the community members, and remember to ask about scheduled
activities. Make sure you know the emergency response policy, as well as the availability of care
staff on the premises. Once you make the decision to move to a retirement community, you may feel
some relief. Moving to a non–profit senior care community can be a great experience. Many senior

Elderly Senior Population
In 2014, Americans age 65 and older represented 14.5% of the total population in the United States.
Between 2004 and 2014 the senior population grew by 10 million–constituting a 28% increase in the
senior population, far surpassing the 6.2% growth in the population under the age of 65 (US
Department of Health and Human Services, 2016). It is projected that one in every five Americans
will be a senior in 2030 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013; Ortman, Velkoff &

For example, nutrition plays a crucial role in the morbidity of illnesses' such as cardiovascular
disease, cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease (Coombs, Barrocas, & White, 2004; Mann, 2002;
Scarmeas, et al., 2008; Shah, 2013; Takashashi et al, 2003). Additionally, poor nutrition can decrease
immunity, increase the time needed for recovery from injury or illness, and has been associated with
an increase in hospital visits–all functions that already deteriorate with age (Brownie, 2005; Forster
et al, 2012; Lesourd, 1997; Sullivan, 1995). Finally, elderly malnutrition leads to increased health
costs for individuals and for the health care system–a system that will be further strained with the
growth in the aging population. Quality nutritious diets can reduce the health risk seniors already
face (Bernstein & Munoz, 2012; Volkert, 2013).
To inform policy and public health decisions that support nutritional health for seniors, it is
important to understand the factors that are associated with nutritious diets among seniors. While
physiological changes in seniors' body create issues for nutrient intake, they also face the cumulative
effect of socioeconomic and behavioral factors (Donini, et al, 2013; Mojon et al, 1999; Morley,
1997; Morley et al, 1997; Palacios & Joshipura, 2014; Shatenstein, 2008; Walls & Steele, 2004;

Literature Review : Hiring Managers Are Hiring Caucasians...
LITERATURE REVIEW
Hypothesis 1: Hiring managers are hiring Caucasians for Senior Level Executive positions over
minority applicants.
In America, cultural sounding names are prevalent. People attribute certain cultural names with
racial groups. For example, Lakisha Johnson and Jamal Wilson may be seen as names of African
Americans While Emily Adams and Connor Backham, may be seen as Caucasian names. Marianne
Bertrans and Sendhill Mullainathan conducted a study on race in the labor market by sending
fictitious resumes to help–wanted ads in Boston and Chicago newspapers. To manipulate perceived
race, resumes were randomly assigned African–American or White–sounding names before being
sent to jobs around the Boston and Chicago area. White names received 50 percent more callback
for interviews compared to the African–American names. They also found the racial gap to be
uniform across occupation, industry and employer size. In fact, Bertans and Mullainathan found
evidence that inferred social class from the names.
This study was particular interesting because it presented research as to how employers are using
prejudice attitudes when extending interviews. This study aids to our research because it shows how
hiring managers are denying cultural sounding names even before an interview. Despite their
qualified experience, skills or education, they are overlooked therefore more attention is giving
toward other applicants which could result in Caucasians being offered the

Erica returned to sick bay to check on Wallace, he was still in his cocoon, Elle stated that the

Senior Center Essay
There is no escaping the simple fact that life is full of challenges. From the moment we begin our
life journey we are presented with choices. Early on, most of those choices are made by our parents.
As we grow older, we start to make our own decisions about where we want to live, go to school,
work and who we want to spend our lives with. When we approach retirement age, we're given yet
another set of choices to make on how we want to spend the golden years. Isn't this what you've
been working for your entire life, to retire in a relaxing, stress free environment and have fun? The
issue then becomes where – a senior center.

where there are aides who help with care giving throughout the day (and night, if need be).
Regardless of the specifics, care is not cheap, period. this is especially so for eldercare. The type of
care and one's geographic location within the US dictates the cost of senior care you will meet. At
this moment, perhaps the urgent concern is this: "How will I fund this living?"
People's circumstances are diverse and paying for senior care has no 'one size fits all'. Moreover,

Senior Experience : My Senior Year Of High School
As my senior year of high school started I was often excited about prom, a night of pure fun that's
supposed to be right near the pinnacle of the senior experience, but I didn't know how many
problems it would end up bringing me. At the beginning of my senior year I met a new girl in my
international relations class named Katherine, sitting only one seat diagonal from me. Most of the
year we got along very well, and whenever we were assigned to the same group we would have a
blast. We'd start off with the assigned discussion topic that would quickly devolve into something
more interesting like our pristine cool sock collections. Though we seemed to get along really well,
we never became the best of friends. Our main communication revolved around a couple day cycle
with dabbles of small talk in the inbetween days. Though I didn't know it at the time, this infrequent
communication ultimately lead to the end of our relationship. Later that year I started to really like
Katherine and started to plan how I might ask her out. By luck we ended up meeting as she and her
friends were walking towards the track from senior lot and I was walking back to my car after a
workout during February break. I took my chance and asked her if she would want to go on a date
later that week during the break. Thankfully she said yes, and later that night through facebook we
decided to get breakfast for lunch at a well known cafe in our hometown. We got along just as well
as we did in group

THE MOST SHOCKING ALARM BELL ABOUT FRAUDULENT
Introduction On February 26, 1995, the oldest British Bank's declared bankruptcy due to fraud
caused the warning bells for many other organizations about the level of danger fraud can cause.
Nick Lesson, a guy who comes from a background of the working class, had been working for
Royal Bank Coutts, Morgan Stanley for a couple of years until he finally joined the Barings. He was
assigned a job in Barings (Jakarta) to sort out a back–office mess that involves about £100 million in

example, Simon Jones didn't take into consideration some suspicious problem that he found out

As I reach the end of my senior year, I want to reflect on how the MacMurray nursing program has
helped me become a great novice nurse. From my sophomore to senior year, I have completed
numerous assignments that were created to prepare me for the nursing field. Nine program outcomes
were specifically created to guide me through the nursing program. I have compiled, examined, and
reflected on each of these nine outcomes below and identified if they have prepared me for my

Professionalism
The first outcome to prepare me for my nursing career states that a MacMurray nursing student

Senior Year
The summer before senior year is when many people attempt to reevaluate their lives, and change
anything about themselves that does not satisfy them. One of the greatest motivators for change, is
knowing that you should be better. Not just that you wish to be different, but knowing you have
fallen short of your own potential. When I observed myself going into senior year, I knew that I had
fallen short of my potential–I was not being my best self–and I set out to change that. Running has
never been my thing. I was always the girl lagging behind when the class ran laps in gym; always
the one with the slowest mile time. I loathed running more than anything–yet I envied those who
could run with ease. At the beginning of this summer,

Senior Project
For Claudia Cifolelli's Senior Project, she provided service for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in
Kenya, Africa. This organization provides a safe haven for injured and orphaned elephants that have
been victims of the illegal ivory poaching throughout Kenya. In order to help raise money to fund
this organization, Claudia organized a silent auction containing art pieces related to wildlife made by
students and alumni from Natomas Charter School and other local artists. The money she made went
to the Medical needs of the Elephants in Kenya.
When Claudia asked me to participate in her senior project, i immediately said i would help her out.
I took a look at the other pieces that she had already received and i was amazed. Klaude's piece was
by far the my favourite. I then got to brainstorming ideas on how I can implicate wildlife animals

mixing together colors that i thought would catch the viewer's eye ; and because i was fairly low on
paint, i had to use some of the paint from the painting of the wolf silhouette on the painting of the
deer silhouette. After I did the two paintings, I knew it wasn't finished. The two canvases I painted
looked too lonely. I needed to paint at least two more but i was stuck, staring at an empty canvas that
was waiting to be filled with colors. I started to sketch out an elephant, the main focus of this whole
project, and started to paint with more vivid and brilliant colors that caught my eye while i was
mixing paints. As I was painting the elephant I realized that elephants aren't the only wild animal
who is being poached for their horns. In the middle of

significant pressure on our teams to meet the goals that we had set for ourselves. As you would
expect this has a trickle–down effect to others in the organization. While from this perspective
performance was measured by internal goals at an executive level these targets were primarily

The challenge is always in balancing the complexity of a compensation plan with the desired
behavior. We spent a significant amount of time aligning the compensation of employees to the
corporate goals.
7. Option compensation will continue to be a critical component of compensation for executives as
it simplistically aligns the executives' pay to shareholder value in its simplest sense. I don't believe
that options compensation is the primary driver of behavior when things shift from the legal to the
illegal. As with most senior executives in industry, ego is a huge driver in individual behavior.
Compensation is important, but the recognition of your performance is sometimes even more
important. We have created a performance driven culture without the necessary control framework
for people to operate within. One minute you are doing a great job, the next you have crossed an
imaginary line. The frameworks don't do enough to quantify behavior as legal and illegal leaving
inconsistent rules for organizations to operate within. How does Enron compare to the subprime

interpretation.

Critical Analysis of the Nut Island Effect
The Nut Island Effect (NIE) is a sad but true outcome of what happens when communication
breakdown within an organization. The following is a critical analysis of the events that ended in a
terrible catastrophe at the Nut Island treatment plant. In our analysis we will cover the following
topics as well as reference supporting articles and excerpts that will support our position: 1. Key
arguments in the article. 2. Sampling and analytical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Till this day, employees that worked at the plant believed they did the best they could with what they
had to work with. Furthermore, there was no trust between management and employees.
We believe that improving the health and communication of an organization is a priority. Moreover,
it is important to put employee needs first as well as sharing information regularly. Companies such
as Southwest Airlines and Amazon.com instill this discipline in efforts to improve the quality of
their organization's ideals.
Implications of Results and it Relevance
When examining the results of the NIE, there were evident signs that should have been acted upon;
this might have avoided this collapse.
"Managing remote teams takes much more involvement and care than any of us would have
imagined, especially when the remote teams have a history of acting independently. We encounter
even more challenging issues when the remote teams are inexperienced in information development
because they are located offshore in emerging economies." (Hackos, 2004)
As Levy (2001) points out, "a team can easily lose sight of the big picture when it narrowly focuses
on a demanding task. The task itself becomes the big picture, crowding other considerations out of
the frame."
Analyzing Current Organizational Design
Utilization of high performance work teams (HPWT) would have given the treatment plant a higher

Volunteering as a Senior
Volunteering BACKGROUND Seniors of Christian Academy of Knoxville have to do a Capstone.
The Capstone has to do with volunteering and serving others. The seniors try to do something that
may be something they want their job to be in the future or what they want to major in in college. I
will be volunteering at Young Williams Animal Shelter and Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center.
Paralysis One of the main projects I will be doing during my capstone is working at Patricia Neal
Rehabilitation Center with paralyzed people. Working with paralyzed people takes a lot of work and
many things that I need to learn. One of the main problems that are paralyzed has emotional
problems. Many people get very depressed that have figured out they have been diagnosed with
paralysis ("Caring for the Paralyzed"). Depression in a paralysis patient can get two times worse
than people who are not paralyzed ("Caring for the Paralyzed"). The patient will not be able to do
many things on his or her own. There are many ways to help the patient feel better, but it can be
very difficult. Talking about his or her family is a good way to make them feel better ("Caring for
the Paralyzed"). It is good to keep also talk about things they are interested in. Body Care Being
paralyzed the patients cannot do many things except to lay in bed, which is why body care is very
important to a paralyzed patient. If a paralyzed person lies still in a bed to long he or she will get
pressure sores. When somebody

In one of the final chapters of her book, Senior (2014) explores the effects of adolescence on the
emotional and mental well being of parents. In addition to retelling various accounts of six Brooklyn
mothers, Senior uses references to several studies to reinforce her message that the impact on
parents during adolescence can be difficult and intense (p.189). Her observations surrounding the
issue of how parents cope with the transition from child to adolescent is explored through topics
titled, the useless parent, the adolescent brain, and memories, dreams and reflections. Senior's first
topic focuses on the difficulty parents have coping with newfound feelings of uselessness. Senior

Finally, Senior focuses on the topic of reflections and memory. She states that during the time of
adolescence parents are most self–critical, facing questions in regards to their purpose after their
children become independent (p.226). This concept is continued with reference to studies like those
of Laurence Steinberg which claim that parents of adolescents often desire to go back and make
different parenting choices knowing that they do now (as cited in Senior, 2014,p.226). Together
Senior's topics of the useless parent, the adolescent brain, and memories and reflection are explored
to explain why the effects had on parents of adolescents are so severe. Her discussion of these topics
with reference to real–life stories and studies illuminate readers on the subject of managing
adolescence as a parent, and what outcomes can be

Senior Stereotypes
High school is one of the most important times of our lives. We got the Freshman who is always
confused. The Sophomores who think school will never end. The juniors who are the most high
strung, than most importantly, the Seniors who are always just chilling. Are these statements true or
are they just stereotypes? We have stereotypes because it satisfies our need to understand and predict
the social world. We no longer need to wonder what each individual is like, or what he or she is
likely to do. The world automatically judges individuals based off of what they look like or how a
small group of people are like. But there are some truth to these stereotypes. With High School

senior students are giving up, ditching, and procrastinating doesn't mean they all do. Society sees

Senior Loneliness
Not surprisingly, senior loneliness is all too common. Major life changes such as retiring, loss of
family and friends, and giving up the keys when it's no longer safe to drive often result in social
isolation. The effects are more serious than you might think, ranging anywhere from faster
progression of cancer to a heightened risk of suicide (Cascade Companion Care, April 13). There is
a need for agencies such as Alpine Home Care for the purpose of creating an environment where the
geriatric population has the control and ability to lead a meaningful, independent life. Homecare
services differ from facility–based options, which include nursing homes, assisted living
communities, and adult day cares. These elderly care options all have unique benefits, however, at
home care is often the preferred choice for seniors who wish to age in place in their own home

No one patient is the same, and it becomes the nurse's responsibility to act as a patient advocate.
Working with a geriatric woman made me realize the significance that mere presence can play in a
patient's life. After all, nurses have the ability to be remembered long after a patient has left their
care, and it is for this reason that patient and family centered care is of utmost importance. Care is
based on continuous health relationships, and customized according to the patient's needs and values
(Finkelman & Kenner, 2016, p. 272). In order to make both the patient and their family feel open to
communication and to instill trust in our decisions as healthcare providers, compassion and kindness
must be key factors in the care of each and every patient. The patient should be the source of

Lavender Seniors

  • 1. Lavender Seniors Lavender Seniors of the East Bay I. Thesis According to the Administration on Aging, people age 65 and older currently represent 12.9% of the population of the United States as of 2009, with that number expected to double in the next 15 years (Administration on Aging, 2014). Along with the continued rise in the population of older adults comes an increased need for services specifically addressing the needs of this population. Despite the increasing needs for services for older adults, seniors are among the most overlooked and underserved populations in the United States. Being an older adult in need of services is challenging and, seemingly, discouraging due to the lack of services available. Amplify the typical challenges of older adults ... • 3. Essay On Senior Citizens Marketing to Senior Citizens When firms begin to develop products they must entertain which markets are suited for their products to be marketed into. Therefore, firms must recognize that their products may not be ideally suited for all segments of the market, and therefore market their products accordingly. Positioning their product within the segment of the market that will be most likely interested in purchasing their product. Based on this understanding firms develop marketing strategies that focus on specific segments, one of those highly targeted segments is senior citizen market. Firms recognize that through targeted marketing of the senior citizen segments they can generate interest in products that are either tailored towards the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to target specific market segment firms must understand what exactly that segment is either expecting or needing from the product for which the firm is developing their marketing strategy for. Seniors can be easy marketing markets for common products that they have used regularly over many decades, such as cars, food and typically everyday consumables, as they have built up many decades of purchasing these products and developing brand loyalties. However, that does mean that firms can simply rely on these segments to continue their purchases of these brands with out specific marketing towards seniors. An example of successful marketing towards the senior citizen market would be the McDonalds restaurants ad campaign from 2014 showcasing a grandmother and her grand daughter, signing and playing, and then ending their day getting a meal a McDonalds. The commercial successfully reaches a senior citizen audience by showing how eating at McDonalds can bring happiness or serve as a bonding experience between a grandparent and grandchild. The ad doesn't focus on any specific product at McDonalds, nor does it use flashy advertisements to convince the viewer that McDonalds is some how better than other restaurants; the ad simply capitalizes on the emotional connection between a grandparent and their grandchild. This simple and effective ad showcases a marketing campaign that can find itself to be very appealing to a senior citizen. While McDonalds show cased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. LGBTQ Seniors Graduation is quickly approaching and many seniors at UCF are experiencing the stress and fear of being in their final semester at the university. While most seniors have similar worries about graduating, students who are part of the LGBTQ community have additional concerns. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, only 20 states plus the District of Columbia currently have non– discrimination laws that prevent private employers from unfairly firing or not hiring someone based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. These laws also protect LGBTQ individuals from harassment in the workplace. Florida is not one of those 20 states, which creates potential problems for LGBTQ graduates entering the workforce. Dr. Bill Blank, the director of career development at Career Services notes job–hunting as one of the biggest concerns all seniors have about graduating. Seniors worry about "looking for opportunities that fit their background," Blank said. Career Services offers numerous resources to guide students during their transition into the working world. Along with career fairs, opportunities to meet employers and practice interviews organized for students, Career Services also makes helping LGBTQ students a priority. Career Services is recognized as an OUT for Work: Silver Certified School, which acknowledges the quantity and quality of its resources for LGBTQ students. The intent is to increase senior management's understanding of the sources of employee dissatisfaction and too create a model that predicts employee resignation. The process will be to combine the week two learning team assignment and week three findings with week five findings and make recommendations to BIMS by using the statistical tables given in the appendices of the textbook and a statistical analysis application. Combined Weeks and Recommendations to BIMS The valuable information the first survey has given the employees is if employees would like to stay if he or she was offered some type of bonus for their work and ... When the employees feel as if they themselves, as stated by the survey and face–to–face interviews, will not work as hard and as an overall will hurt the company as a whole and they would like the senior management to take into account their disgrievences and communicate better with them. Model for Predicting Employee Resignation BIMS has developed a model for predicting employee resignation and turnover. After reviewing the surveys as well as the exit interviews; BIMS has developed a model based on logistics regression and then analyzing the turnover. They have developed five hypotheses from previous research of the effects of different factors affecting resignations and turnovers. The first hypothesis is based on the length that an employee has been with BIMS and that the more time invested in the company, the less likely they will resign. The belief is that increased tenure strengthens the propensity for employees to remain. The second hypothesis is that higher performing employees are less likely to resign than average to lower performing employees. One way to ensure higher performance is to implement a contingent reward system. In the event of continued low performance from certain employees, BIMS must be aware of the withdraw process: a major reduction in performance, possibly to unacceptable levels, and ending with resignation. • 9. Senior Stereotypes In todays society there is the negative stereotype that old aged people are uneducated, unhealthy, and a liability in the workforce. However this is a misconception in todays world and the reality is that these characteristics do not necessarily reflect the old aged population. According to Andrew Sixsmith, director of the Gerontology Research centre at Simon Fraser University "baby boomers are probably one of the richest and healthiest generation in human history, as well as being better educated than previous generations" (Luke, 2014). An issue that arises in this article concerning Canadians is that seniors are looking towards cosmetic surgery to make their physical appearance look better. The activity theory states that "staying active helps with aging and well–being in later life" (Gish, 2014). According to the news article "seniors are smarter about fitness than they were at a younger age" (Luke, 2014). This verifies that seniors are taking physical activities into consideration when looking towards attaining good health. Compared to previous generations seniors are now incorporating physical exercise, social work and other activities to insure good health and a decent lifestyle. Seniors are getting involved in the community and volunteering. This allowed them to stay active and also get social interaction with members of their own or other communities. The article states how "Canadians 65 and over volunteered an average of 223 hours in 2010" (Luke, 2014). This all ties into the context of the activity theory, which is a way of effectively aging by staying active. Seniors nowadays are taking physical activities and exercise more serious than ever before. The article also states how "As you get older, exercise becomes a little bit more intelligent," she says. "You're looking at what your body needs and at different modes of exercise that fit with how your body has aged" (Luke, 2014). TO: Mrs. Mia Foster, CEO Levendary Café FROM: Qian Zhao DATE: November 9,2014 RE: Advice and Analysis on your meetings regarding future of Levendary Café China WORDS: (803 word) ______________________________________________________________________________ Statement of Problem The following three issues were the main problems in Levendary: 1. Louis Chen, Levendary's hand–picked president unwillingness to follow to the company's direction and reporting status. This problem stems up from how he was introduced to the business. Leventhal gave him abroad latitude to execute his plans in establishing a strong market position as a base franchise outlet throughout China. 2. Reporting system was adopted from U.S Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which was not a suitable practice for the growing China market. 3. For a whole year, no senior executive had visited China to see what Chen was doing. Lack of supervision could have caused Chen to set his rules and how to operate the China market. Decisions 1. The most important decision to take on this problem will be to ensure: 2. There are documented cultural competent management reporting system that will fit in many cultures including China. 3. • 17. My Best Friend I hear footsteps coming closer from the white newly polished hall across the room. My hands are shaking, I'm sweating from my forehead down. I'm as nervous as I could and will ever be. Is school finally over, or is it a teacher coming to give us more work? Even worse is the principal coming? Hopefully, if I'm lucky it's just a student coming back from the filthy, smelly, gross bathroom. Oh, thank god it's just Ellie, my best friend. We've been besties since preschool. She has blonde hair, brown eyes, and always wears her long, luxurious hair in a high, sleek ponytail. To think about it, we're kind of like a power couple. Blonde and brunette. I also have long hair just not as long as Ellie's. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and I always wear cute dresses. At least I think they're cute. Ellie says I need a style change. My name's Valerie but you can call me V. All my friends call me that. RING! RING! RING! RING! That's the loud, annoying, pounding bell. Usually I'd be disgusted to hear that bell because it would mean I had to go to another class.(I'm still getting used to that even though we started this senior year a couple of weeks ago.) Today it's different though. It sounds like music in my ears because today, at this time, that blessing of a bell means school is over. Well, at least the day is. And do you know what that means? Time to create some pranks because it's senior prank day! Ellie and I race to the gym to meet up with the rest of our friends and the whole 12th ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While there is no one simple answer, let's take a look at a few of the most common reasons for joint problems. As we age, the padding between the bones, cartilage, wears and erodes. This is often accompanied by a drying up of the protective membranes and fluid that lubricates the joints. Without the cartilage and the synovial membranes and fluid, the bones are allowed to touch and painfully grind together. • 25. Senior Speech Ashley Rinehart Senior Speech Final Draft Mrs. Hartman March 16, 2012 Cop Out Welcome parents, family, friends, and faculty. We are here to celebrate the accomplishments and the graduation of the Class of 2012. And I would like to give a special welcome to my classmates; well, we are finally here. As you sit here and inhale the aggregate odor of your senior class for the last time, I am sure there are many burning questions racing through your minds: "Will I find my place in the world?" If you are lucky. "Did I really wear this?" Yeah you did. "And who is that stunning young lady addressing us, and how long do I have the privilege of listening to her?" Hey, Ashley Rinehart here, and hopefully not for too long. I realize that your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So don't credit yourself as a failure, you're worse than that." We cannot live in fear of being vulnerable and of failure, or we will never get anywhere or make anything of ourselves. As hockey player legend Wayne Gretsky once said, "You will always miss one hundred percent of the shots you don't take." It is time for us to take risks, but to also not be ignorant about the risks we take. We cannot try to change something once, and if it does not work, never try again. But we also cannot try to change something the same way multiple times because if it did not work the first time, it will probably not work the second or third and so on. Albert Einstein defines this as, "Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." We want the Class of 2012 to develop and grow into prospering, successful young men and women and in order to do this; we have to stop complaining, start appreciating, and start the change we want to see in the world. Between 2004 and 2014 the senior population grew by 10 million–constituting a 28% increase in the senior population, far surpassing the 6.2% growth in the population under the age of 65 (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2016). It is projected that one in every five Americans will be a senior in 2030 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013; Ortman, Velkoff & Hogan, 2014). The coming generation of seniors will be significantly different than those before them–more racially diverse, less likely to be married, and facing declines in their economic well–being and increases in inequality and disparities (Helman, Copeland, & ... Additionally, poor nutrition can decrease immunity, increase the time needed for recovery from injury or illness, and has been associated with an increase in hospital visits–all functions that already deteriorate with age (Brownie, 2005; Forster et al, 2012; Lesourd, 1997; Sullivan, 1995). Finally, elderly malnutrition leads to increased health costs for individuals and for the health care system–a system that will be further strained with the growth in the aging population. Quality nutritious diets can reduce the health risk seniors already face (Bernstein & Munoz, 2012; Volkert, 2013). To inform policy and public health decisions that support nutritional health for seniors, it is important to understand the factors that are associated with nutritious diets among seniors. While physiological changes in seniors' body create issues for nutrient intake, they also face the cumulative effect of socioeconomic and behavioral factors (Donini, et al, 2013; Mojon et al, 1999; Morley, 1997; Morley et al, 1997; Palacios & Joshipura, 2014; Shatenstein, 2008; Walls & Steele, 2004; Wellman et al, 1997). Summertime for seniors can be extremely hard because of high heat temperatures. During the summer months most people like to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Many people enjoy gardening, planting flowers or just tending to their lawn, but aging seniors are limited to their activities. For those who are not able to do yard work they may still enjoy sitting out and watching their friends and neighbors. • 31. Literature Review : Hiring Managers Are Hiring Caucasians... LITERATURE REVIEW Hypothesis 1: Hiring managers are hiring Caucasians for Senior Level Executive positions over minority applicants. In America, cultural sounding names are prevalent. People attribute certain cultural names with racial groups. For example, Lakisha Johnson and Jamal Wilson may be seen as names of African Americans While Emily Adams and Connor Backham, may be seen as Caucasian names. Marianne Bertrans and Sendhill Mullainathan conducted a study on race in the labor market by sending fictitious resumes to help–wanted ads in Boston and Chicago newspapers. To manipulate perceived race, resumes were randomly assigned African–American or White–sounding names before being sent to jobs around the Boston and Chicago area. White names received 50 percent more callback for interviews compared to the African–American names. They also found the racial gap to be uniform across occupation, industry and employer size. In fact, Bertans and Mullainathan found evidence that inferred social class from the names. This study was particular interesting because it presented research as to how employers are using prejudice attitudes when extending interviews. This study aids to our research because it shows how hiring managers are denying cultural sounding names even before an interview. Despite their qualified experience, skills or education, they are overlooked therefore more attention is giving toward other applicants which could result in Caucasians being offered the ... • 33. Descriptive Essay About School I heard footsteps coming closer from the white newly polished hall across the room. My hands are shaking, I'm sweating from my forehead down. I'm as nervous as I could and will ever be. Is school finally over or, is it a teacher coming to give us more work? RING RING RING RING That's the loud, annoying, pounding bell. Erica returned to sick bay to check on Wallace, he was still in his cocoon, Elle stated that the information she has that it would take up to twenty–four hours for the transformation. When he or it awoke it would be ravenous, it would have no problem eating any of the crew. Marybeth explained to Erica that part she wasn't surprised by it, her and Wallace were scheduled to be the evening meal when they were on Nova. The big question was would the isolation unit hold it, and if it did what would they feed it. According to Elle it would only eat meat and would consume huge quantities of it, far more than they had on board. Erica has asked Major Wakowski and Senior Master Sergeant Smith to come to the sick bay so she could speak with them. The two men thought it odd that she wouldn't discuss it over the communications system. They told her they would be right up, and true to their word they arrived within ten minutes. "What can we do for you doc?" Major Wakowski asked her. She discussed with them what was happening to Dr. Lee, needless to say they found it all hard to believe until she allowed them to look into the isolation room. She told them SSG Bell knew about it, but she had ordered him not to speak to anyone. As far as the Senior Master Sergeant was concerned he didn't care what Erica had ordered him to do, Bell should have told them, he'd talk to him about that later on. Early on, most of those choices are made by our parents. As we grow older, we start to make our own decisions about where we want to live, go to school, work and who we want to spend our lives with. When we approach retirement age, we're given yet another set of choices to make on how we want to spend the golden years. Senior Experience : My Senior Year Of High School As my senior year of high school started I was often excited about prom, a night of pure fun that's supposed to be right near the pinnacle of the senior experience, but I didn't know how many problems it would end up bringing me. At the beginning of my senior year I met a new girl in my international relations class named Katherine, sitting only one seat diagonal from me. Most of the year we got along very well, and whenever we were assigned to the same group we would have a blast. We'd start off with the assigned discussion topic that would quickly devolve into something more interesting like our pristine cool sock collections. Though we seemed to get along really well, we never became the best of friends. Our main communication revolved around a couple day cycle with dabbles of small talk in the inbetween days. Though I didn't know it at the time, this infrequent communication ultimately lead to the end of our relationship. Later that year I started to really like Katherine and started to plan how I might ask her out. By luck we ended up meeting as she and her friends were walking towards the track from senior lot and I was walking back to my car after a workout during February break. I took my chance and asked her if she would want to go on a date later that week during the break. Thankfully she said yes, and later that night through facebook we decided to get breakfast for lunch at a well known cafe in our hometown. We got along just as well as we did in group ... Her discussion of these topics with reference to real–life stories and studies illuminate readers on the subject of managing adolescence as a parent, and what outcomes can be ... • 68. Senior Stereotypes High school is one of the most important times of our lives. We got the Freshman who is always confused. The Sophomores who think school will never end. The juniors who are the most high strung, than most importantly, the Seniors who are always just chilling. Are these statements true or are they just stereotypes? We have stereotypes because it satisfies our need to understand and predict the social world. We no longer need to wonder what each individual is like, or what he or she is likely to do. The world automatically judges individuals based off of what they look like or how a small group of people are like. But there are some truth to these stereotypes. With High School seniorss, most of them are procrastinators, stressed out all the time, and end up getting Senioritis. However there are seniors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe someone wouldn't want to hire you because they think you might be lazy and not a hard worker because you are a senior. In an article called "The Truth About Senioritis" by Kat Cohen she stated, "Many high school seniors, fresh off of winter break and finishing up the last of their college applications, begin to lag. Missing class, not doing homework, getting lower grades on assignments they would usually ace– all signs of the ever–present 'Senioritis'." Underclassman claim they have Senioritis even at their young age. Some senior state they do not have Senioritis! Although so many senior students are giving up, ditching, and procrastinating doesn't mean they all do. Society sees them like that, but not all seniors are lazy like that. There are students that are on top of their grades, work, and college applications. Most seniors are stressed out most of the time, but the reason it isn't all the time is because senior year is also the funniest year. Students do attend mostly all the events and let that be a break from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Seniors: Senior Night Market the event, need to include in your paper: 1) Write a description of the promotion for the game The event I would look strongly at would be on the 28th of February because both South Dakota Coyotes Basketball team will be playing on that day. The main sponsor of the day would State Farm as they look to get more attention in little town Vermillion. As the last game of the season in the Sanford Coyotes Sport Complex, the theme of the night is the battle of the Seniors, also known as Senior night. Many people look at the SCSC as a great sporting arena for the students, but few people realize that the crowd has a lot of older fans too. With Senior night for the players, Senior night for older fans will be in full effect. Seniors (aged 65+) will have access to buy five tickets, get two free for any fall sport next year. With admissions to access to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The script of the event will speak highly of the Car Insurance from State Farm and describe how the game will be performed. The game is best played with lots of participants but for the sake of this promotion, we will use any student or fan that is eligible to win. I would have a maximum of ten students, but no less than six. Each student will have a basketball depending on a number of people we have to participant in the event, they will have a restricted area of where they can only dribble in. Stepping out of the area would cause them to be out of the game. The way to win this game is to be the last "car" standing. The only way to win this game is by attempting to swipe every other participant ball out. The winner will receive fan gear from State Farm and a hundred dollars Visa gift card, while each of the losers will receive a twenty–dollar Visa gift card as a thank you for participating in the ... • 72. Major Wakowski Case Summary After yesterday's excitement in Engineering everyone was hoping for a smooth weapons test. Everyone was their station, Lt. Colonel House and Major Tso, as well as Major Wakowski were on the bridge. The PJ's had finished prepping the drones earlier in the morning and loaded them into the catapult in the landing bay. Major Wakowski was running his last diagnostic's on the weapons and tracking system to ensure everything was in working order, Elle had already reported that she was able to repair the tampered software in the weapons tracking array. Everything was good to go. "How's it looking Major?" Lt. Colonel asked Major Wakowski. "Looks like we are on track, we can start the exercise you're ready." Lt. Colonel House announced over the communications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How's it hanging?" Major Wakowski spoke into the comm unit. Major Tso took his seat next to Marybeth, "It's time to stop being a sitting duck, lets getting to moving and groving!" Major Tso said to Marybeth. She smiled at that, "Let's Major, let's..it's time to dance." The Gettysburg took off from zero to mach three in seconds, for the most part leaving the drones behind, but they were quickly back on her. There was a lot of discussion between Major Wakowski and Smith. "I've got a firing solution." Senior Master Sergeant Smith reported. "Fire, fire! You don't have to wait for permiss..." Major Wakowki was saying, but before he ended another drone went up in smoke. "That's some good shoot'in Smith." Marybeth happily said. "Ok, boys and girls we got one more to go." Major Tso ... • 74. Senior Year Essay When I was younger I had a babysitter who was in high school. I looked up to her so much and wanted to be a big girl like her and go to high school. Little did I know that when I got that old I would want to be that little girl again. With senior year beginning I've been getting hounded with college emails and universities calling to invite me to visit. Having to make the decision of where I want to go to college, what I want to study, and how I'm gonna make all that happen while still being in high school and getting treated like a child is a bit overwhelming. I never realized how overwhelming and stressful senior year would be. "Senior year will fly by"–everybody. I never believed it until now. I'm three weeks deep into my senior year and ... • 76. Captain Ward: A Short Story "I'm sorry I don't understand?" Captain Ward sighed because he explained all of this during the meeting they had earlier, "Anything with solid state circuitry is fried, and dead as in will never work again. The EMP killed anything with it." "There's nothing we can do about it?" "I'm afraid not," said the Captain. "At least not anytime soon, I'm sorry. Let me ask you this, what was done before any of this?" "What do you mean?" she asked. "Well you've been thrust back to Korea or World War Two medical practices; they were able to treat people right? That's essentially where you are right now." Carrie stood there thinking "Right." she said and then turned and walked quickly back into the hospital. Captain Ward wouldn't hear from the strong ... In the meantime please help yourselves to the food. "Carrie said. Carrie left the Soldiers to their own vices, Captain Ward told the XO to go ahead and start to work the men through the chow line, and god only knew when the next hot chow was coming. With that the XO grabbed some coffee and headed off, Captain Ward filled up a cup with coffee and found a seat where he could think about the past few days. He didn't want to think about the future right now he wanted to take it one day at a time. Over the next week there was a lot of coming and going between Army medical personnel and trucks bringing the hospital supplies. The hospital was being used as a triage center for civilians the Army was doing its best to help it had even provided another generator. The current reality was explained to Carrie was that fuel was finite and eventually unless they figured out another source everyone would run out within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Senior Loneliness Not surprisingly, senior loneliness is all too common. Major life changes such as retiring, loss of family and friends, and giving up the keys when it's no longer safe to drive often result in social isolation. The effects are more serious than you might think, ranging anywhere from faster progression of cancer to a heightened risk of suicide (Cascade Companion Care, April 13). There is a need for agencies such as Alpine Home Care for the purpose of creating an environment where the geriatric population has the control and ability to lead a meaningful, independent life. Homecare services differ from facility–based options, which include nursing homes, assisted living communities, and adult day cares. These elderly care options all have unique benefits, however, at home care is often the preferred choice for seniors who wish to age in place in their own home (Griswold Home Care, n.d.). Unfortunately, the effects of aging can not yet be reversed, but the ability to improve quality of life does exists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one patient is the same, and it becomes the nurse's responsibility to act as a patient advocate. Working with a geriatric woman made me realize the significance that mere presence can play in a patient's life. After all, nurses have the ability to be remembered long after a patient has left their care, and it is for this reason that patient and family centered care is of utmost importance. Care is based on continuous health relationships, and customized according to the patient's needs and values (Finkelman & Kenner, 2016, p. 272). In order to make both the patient and their family feel open to communication and to instill trust in our decisions as healthcare providers, compassion and kindness must be key factors in the care of each and every patient. The patient should be the source of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
