Analysis Of Dewey Cheatum & Howe ( Dch )
Investment Objective The objective of Dewey Cheatum & Howe (DCH)'s emerging markets fund is
to generate attractive excess return over investing in US stocks with comparable volatility by
investing in a globally diversified portfolio of emerging and developed market instruments. An
emerging market fund is required for DCH for the following reasons Emerging markets are growing
faster than advanced economies due to increased human capital, better economic framework, and
financial markets. Emerging markets companies are directly competing with developed–market
firms and reshaping industries in the areas of technology, automobiles, business processing and
consulting, and alternative energy. These developments will undoubtedly contribute to shifts in the
global investment landscape over many years. Looking ahead a few years, it is expected that the
emerging markets economies will change the dynamics of the world economy, and of trade patterns
and global finance, in profound ways. To attain above mentioned advantages at DCH we have
follow a very thorough process that is outlined below. Investment Approach – Design of an
investment product We follow a top down and bottom up analysis to identify attractive companies in
the global market. Below flow chart summarizes our investment theme. Once an idea is originated
we perform a top–down investment analysis by considering all risk factors associated with investing
in emerging markets and bottom–up analysis is done by

Essay On Binary Options
Since 2007 when trading in binary options were approved as valid financial instrument in the
mainstream financial market, they have gained unsurpassed popularity. Binary options are indeed
high risk transactions where predictions are made on the movement of the price within a particular
specified period. The payoff is either the asset or a huge loss. There are several trade types of binary
options but the boundary binary options are the most preferred.
Basics of Trading Boundary Binary Options
Traders find boundary binary options very interesting and also attractive to their short and long–
term interests. It is clearly unmatched in the financial world in the thrill it elicits. Through using the
boundary trading options, traders can reap ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Measuring Volatility
Novices being introduced in Trading Boundary Binary Options might think they are risk free but
they are not. It is not even that easy as some may have led you to believe. However it cannot be that
gloomy after all. Trading Boundary binary Options revolve around the underlying asset and the
nature of the response generated by any major economic announcement forthcoming.
The importance of the underlying asset to the transaction is crucial and can be understood better by
measuring the volatility arising after an announcement. This volatility is measured by the Average
True Range. The average True Range discovered by the financial maverick J. Welles Wilder is
merely a technical analysis unpredictability pointer for goods or financial commodities. This is
simply the difference between the highest and the lowest bars while putting into consideration the
gaps that lie in between.
High volatility reflects heightened enthusiasm and can be reflected by wider boundaries and this
would be an ideal thing for a trader whose predictions were restrained inside the boundaries. Low
volatility means less trading enthusiasm and is characterized by narrower boundaries. This would be
sad news to any trader who was predicting a break out. Trader wishing to cash in on an In–Boundary
Option would be disadvantaged by low volatility. A break out to the contrary would be an easy ride
to the bank as it only

1.2. NATIONAL DRESS
Women wear a large cloth called 'Chitenje". It's a large cloth with different design patterns that are
usually matched with a head cloth and a blouse. The Chitenje has many uses apart from dressing, it
can used as a baby carrier, apron, and table cloth.
Because predominately Malawi is a Christian country many women dress up on Sundays wearing
their finest chitenje's – if a person can afford to get the chitenje sewed by a tailor into an outfit then
it is considered a very expensive outfit.
Men have no particular way of dressing apart from jeans and t–shirts. Some men wear cultural
outfits like the chitenje's sewed into an outfit or some wear robes for religious beliefs e.g. Muslim
tribes.
1.3. WAY OF LIFE
Malawi is an agricultural economy, they rely heavily on growing and harvesting their own food. In
urban areas where land is not as vast, people still have gardens in their back yards to grow their own
vegetables or fruits. So the weather plays a major role in the economy of Malawi.
Families build houses close together in a small compound with separate, eating and storage of

Statement of Purpose to Study Finance at Kent State...
I choose to study finance because studying finance has enabled me to see the world in a different
light. I'm aware that financial instability and its effects on the economy can be very costly due to
spill over effects to other parts of the economy. This is like what happen during global recession
2008 where it affects many countries through increase in the poverty rate, increase unemployment
rate, poor stock market performance and etc. This subject has inspired me to increase my awareness
of the current world issues through regularly reading magazine such as "The Economist" , "The
Edge" and etc. Reading several books, namely by Warren Buffet, Robert J.Shiller and others has
provided me with a better understanding of finance world as well. I choose to study the financial
market programme at Kent business school because Kent is in 30 top list universities in united
kingdom, beside the programme has been recognised by two world renowned professional bodies,
the CFA Institute and PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers' International Association).
During my undergraduate year, I have studied a financial market institutions subject where I learn
the important of financial system stability towards the economy of a country. I have also actively
doing research and collect as much information as possible on banking system, investing, stock
market, merger and acquisitions, economics, etc. Besides that, I have carried out a research on a real

Technical Analysis : Vendor Thirdpartyinvoiceing...
The technical document presented as an example in Node 1, "Vendor–ThirdPartyInvoiceing–
BillTrustOverview.pdf", is a good example of technical communication. The document lines up with
all six characteristics of technical communication according to M. Markel.
While it's true that the author of this rhetorical analysis brief and the analyzed technical document
are both one and the same, that does not mean that the analysis presented in this brief should be
disregarded as overly biased. Technical writers such as this author must always be critical of their
own work when appropriate so as to not reinforce bad writing habits. It is the opinion of this author
that this document is a fundamentally good example of technical communication and this ... Show

It's important to set a customer's expectations on a Service Desk, so being able to tell them what
team is handling their concern is crucial. In doing so, this document certainly does well to help its
audience solve a problem.
Next in Markel's list of characteristics, this document does indeed reflect the goals and culture of
Uline and the Service Desk specifically. Both in the verbiage used as well as the writing style, it's
clear to the document's audience that the author is a peer. Writing style is abundantly important at
Uline. So much so that each potential applicant is given a writing test as part of their hiring process.
This includes every position at the company. From the new CIO, to the lowly picker and packer in
the warehouse, everyone must take the same writing style test. This practice ensures that the entire
company shares a vision and goal in writing technical communication in a variety of formats. This
example document is no exception.
One characteristic which may be harder to prove is the fact that the example document was
produced collaboratively. While it's true that multiple teams and more than one SME were required
to gather the key information in this document, the pdf version used does not show the revision
history or the string of emails that went back and forth between the other teams and its author. That
being said, what readers can rely on is that

I believe that all people are meant to do something special and that everyone has a talent or a knack
for something where they can be extraordinary. The key is to find it and embrace it. Its a sad thing to
see so many people muddle through their lives just living to work, putting in their time and doing
just enough to get by and making just enough to survive. So many people go through life and never
find that one thing that moves them, that inspires them and gives meaning to their career. Other
times I see people that do have a passion for something but are just to afraid to go after it. They are
afraid to fail or that they won't be able to support themselves if they follow their dreams. That fear
hangs over them for a long time before they finally let their dream be extinguished and then just live
a life of regret. Most people never regret the risks they take in life, but they often regret the risks
they
DIDN'T take. I took that risk and it changed my life forever. I'm not only able to take care of my
family and spoil them rotten, but I am able to live my life on my own terms and under my own
rules. If you're like me and dream about the markets at night and on Sunday get goosebumps of
excitement from the mark opening in a few hours...if you sit at your cubicle hating your job and

Short Sale Is The Sale Of A Stock
According to the provisions of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, A short sale is the sale
of a stock that an investor does not own or a sale which is consummated by the delivery of a stock
borrowed by, or for the account of, the investor. It is usually performed to profit from an expected
decline in the price of a financial instrument. Typically, the short–seller will borrow the securities to
be sold, and later repurchase identical securities for return to the lender. Short selling can be divided
into two types: "covered" short selling where the seller has made arrangements to borrow the
securities before the sale and "naked" short selling where the seller has not borrowed the securities
when the short sale occurs. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of information on short positions also means that regulators cannot properly monitor short
selling transactions for possible market abuse, so there may have possibility of abusive behaviour
not being detected or sanctioned.
As outlined above, which can be seen as reasons why many countries have already taken national
actions on restrictions on short sale. After 2008 financial crisis, most countries introduced in
emergency measures of intervention in the short selling. Among these measures, information
disclosure system, price regulation and prohibition of naked short selling are relatively significant
and have more attention by the public.
For example, UK has taken actions with regard to short selling restrictions and disclosure
requirements. Since there is a difference in and changes in national rules on short selling, so

The Dow Theory: The Dow Theory
The Dow Theory
The Dow Theory was established from a series of Wall Street Journal editorials authored by Charles
H. Dow from 1900 until the time of his death in 1902. Today even after 110 years they remain the
foundation of what we know today as technical analysis. Dow never published his complete theory
but several of his followers compiled his works and that has come to be known as "The Dow
Theory".
The Dow Theory has six points:
The stock market discounts all news
The Dow Theory suggests that all information be it of the past, present or future is factored into the
prices of stocks and indexes. It includes all micro and macroeconomic factors ranging from inflation
to earnings.
It also includes events that are expected to happen and could happen. New information that has not
been factored into get factored in as soon as they are available.
A market has three trends
The Dow Theory identifies three trends within the market– major, intermediate and minor. A major
trend may last from less than a year to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the market turns bullish. The business conditions look better. As the good news starts coming in,
more and more investors participate. As a result the markets keep moving higher and higher. The

Inflation and Currency Risk
Chapter 1: Research Overview
1.1 Background of the Study
Inflation and currency risk is the possibility that the value of assets or income will decrease as
inflation shrinks the purchasing power of a currency. Inflation causes money to decrease in value at
some rate, and does so whether the money is invested or not. Malaysia is part of the worldwide
emerging market where the country aims to achieve the status of a developed country by the year
2020, however, the increase in inflation and currency risk may effect that vision from happening. As
inflation and currency plays a major role in the economic world.
The performance of a stock market is usually associated with the movements in the exchange rate
because of its influence on the stock price of a firm. The foreign exchange market is a place where
trading of international currencies occurs between many buyers and sellers around the world. Any
fluctuations occur in the currency rate can influence the business activities between two different
countries. For example, a strong home currency can leads to the firm's profit when doing business in
the country which have a weak currency rate.
Inflation risk have very important implications for the portfolio management, cost of capital of a
firm, asset pricing and currency hedging strategies, as any source of risk which is not compensated
in terms of expected returns should be hedged. Therefore, it is very important to examine whether
inflation risk is priced in international stock

Correlation Between Market Anomalies And Its Impact On The...
Since the profits of relative strength strategies have been considered to be behavioral phenomena
and arbitrage is the last and the strongest defender of market efficiency, it is possible to be dubious
that limit to arbitrage leads to abnormal returns generated by momentum strategies. This paper fill
the gap in literature because of two reasons : firstly, as original purpose, it provides a view on
relative strength profitability ; secondly , I do not see many papers looking at relationship between
market anomalies although momentum profits and limit to arbitrage have been strongly debated
among studies.
Barberis and Thaler (2003) presented 3 possible obstacles prevent arbitrageurs from taking
advantages of stock mispricing. They argued that arbitrage is limited because of fundamental risk,
noise traders risk and implementation costs. Fundamental risk in the sense that perfect substitutes
are rare in the real world and arbitrageurs cannot eliminate fundamental risk related to stocks
shorted. For example, when arbitrageurs short Ford stocks and buy GM stocks, they can only
eliminate risk related to car industry as a whole but cannot avoid the risk specific to Ford. Even
there are perfect substitutes, the risk that pessimistic traders driving down stock price more is
possible in short run and this forces arbitrageurs close their positions leading to bigger loss.
According to Shleifer and Visny (1997) , this situation is highly possible. Shleifer and Visny (1997)

Market Analysis : Beating The Market
"Beating the market" is a difficult phrase to analyze. An investor, portfolio manager, fund or other
investment specialist produces a better return than the market average. The market average can be
calculated in many ways, but usually a benchmark, such as the S&P 500 or the Dow Jones Industrial
Average index, is a good representation of the market average. If your returns exceed the percentage
return of the chosen benchmark, you have beaten the market. Generally speaking, we totally cannot
beat the market since investment fees are one major barrier to beating the market. If you take the
popular advice to invest in an S&P 500 index fund, your investment will perform identically to the
S&P 500 and investment fees will be subtracted from those returns, preventing you from beating the
market. Look for funds with ultra–low fees of 0.1 to 0.2% annually and you 'll be close to equaling
the market. Taxes are another major barrier to beating the market. When you pay tax on your
investment returns, you lose a significant percentage of your profit –15% or more, depending on
your holding period. Investor psychology presents a third barrier to beating the market. People have
a tendency to buy high and sell low because they 're inclined to buy when the market is performing
well and they sell out of fear when the market starts to drop. This buying and selling behavior makes
it impossible to beat the market. In financial economics, the efficient–market hypothesis (EMH)

The Project work involves a critical analysis of the historical data relating to Euro (EUR) and Great
Britain Pound (GBP), with the use of advanced technical tools, retrieved from creditworthy sources.
Thus, the Project work is being accomplished under the purview of Forex Market and involves
regular monitoring of the currency pair EUR/GBP.
Forex Market is known for its volatility and uncertainty. The Euro/GBP has always been a stable
pair but the last month has been turbulent for the EURO as it has declined against the pound due to
the Greece Debt crisis. Viewpoints of market critics have been used to determine what future trends
are expected for Euro/GBP.
The paramount goal of the project is to study the market movements carefully so as to determine the
entry points. In line with the achievement of this goal, various Trend as well as Range analysis have
been used to determine the most profitable points for taking a position (long or short). These tools
include various trend lines, volatility bands, oscillators, moving averages etc. The role of
fundamental factors in determining market prices on the date of entry points has also been carefully
observed, as technical tools coupled with fundamental factors gives the best market predictions.
Then, through the use of some theories, we have tried to determine the future price, so that we can
play with the market changes. In addition to all this, a thorough implementation and analysis of the

Statement Of Purpose In Financial Engineering
From childhood, I have been passionate about mathematics and problem solving. Given the
quantitative focus of engineering, I pursued my undergraduate studies in civil engineering. During
my years in college, I used my elective courses to explore subjects from different disciplines. Of
these, I developed a deep interest in finance, particularly the financial markets and trading. To know
more in finance, I later enrolled in CFA level 1, participated in virtual stock market competitions,
did an internship in equity research and started trading with some personal funds.
To further my passion for financial markets, I took up a job as a derivatives trader, trading

The Data Mining Of Finance
Data Mining in Finance 1. Introduction Data mining is used to uncover hidden knowledge and
patterns from a large amount of data. In finance, there is enormous data which generates during
business operations and trading activities. Extracting valuable data from them manually might be
unable or spend a lot of time. As a result, data mining plays an importance role of discovering data
that can be used to increase profits and evaluate risks of strategic planning and investment. The data
mining methods in finance are derived from statistics, machine learning, and visualization. The most
commonly used methods are Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, and Rough Set

Prior forecasting method is the prediction based on the growth rate of fundamental factors such as
earning–per–share, book value, and invested capital. Another common method for forecasting is
time series analysis. The traditional analysis uses regression models to discover market trends.
However, financial time series are complex, noisy, and nonlinear pattern. As a result, later
techniques have applied artificial intelligences; the most popular technique is neural networks
(Zhang & Zhou, 2004). According to Refenes's experiment (1994), the back–propagation networks,
a type of neural network, predicts more accurately than regression models on the same datasets.
Other techniques are ARMA and ARIMA model, genetic algorithm, and random walk. Pai and Lin
(2005) introduces the A hybrid model ARIMA and support vector machine which give better result
than single ARIMA. Edward Tsang et al. (1998) proposes EDDIE, a tool which constructs a genetic
decision tree to evaluate whether a stock price increases in a specified time. Jar–Long and Shu–Hui
(2006) proposes a two–layer bias decision tree with simple technical indicators. Typically, the input
variables of prediction models are daily price, volume, rate of change, and technical indicators, for
example, moving average (MA), relative strength index (RSI), and volatility (Vol). 2.2 Foreign

The Technical And Management Challenges At Big Data...
1. Abstract: Inventions in technology and excessive use of digital devices have presided over today's
Age of Big Data, in Three V's of data. These data allows the users to enhance the social security,
understand the existing systems and to track improvement progress. For example, transforming Big
Data (banking transactions, call records, online user created data like Tweets and blogs, online
searches, etc.) into useful data needs computational methods to reveal structure among and inside
these very big socioeconomic data. The data driven management is now familiar and there is
increasing interest for the concept of "Big Data". Currently there is a gap between its insight and its
potentials of Big Data. This paper highlights five steps in analysis of big data and discusses what has
already been done. This paper also list out the technical and management challenges in Big Data
analysis. We begin by considering the five stages in the pipeline, then move on to the challenges,
and end with a conclusion. 2. Introduction Today data is being flooded in all means as it is being
collected in unprecedented ways. Decisions which were taken by way of guesswork and difficult
models can now be made on the base of data itself. Big data analysis can be dream on every aspect
of today's society – Mobile services, manufacturing, retail, life sciences, financial services and
physical sciences. Big Data has the potential to revolutionize scientific research, education, use of

NEW TO EQUITY MARKETS? HOW CAN YOU TRANSFORM YOUR MONEY INTO
WEALTH CREATION
"Wall Street is the only place that people ride to in a Rolls Royce to get advice from those who take
the subway"......WARREN BUFFETT
Stock market is the arena where people indulge in buying and selling stocks trading on the
exchange, thus creating the dynamics of stock price through demand and supply of the stocks.
9:15 the bell rings and there are money flooding into and out of the market. This is what generally
people do who are new to the market. They make money, lose more than they gain and still have
anxiety to trade in the market just in the thought that they would be Warren Buffett trading the
stocks and that is where most of them go wrong. All of the human unhappiness comes from one
single thing, not knowing how to remain rest in the room. And to bring back their lost money, they
flood in more currency and it goes on and on but never reaches the level they started with. They
even don't know that they would have paid handsome brokerages to the brokers which also adds up
to their losses.
Yes, this is the dynamics of the stock market where people want to become rich overnight. They
don't have the patience to wait for years. They want easy money and they further shorten their time
frame to become rich when they have recently enjoyed the taste of triumph. This is a bitter truth –

As Financial Instruments And Securities Grew In Complexity
As financial instruments and securities grew in complexity and quantity from the 15th to 19th
centuries, so did the markets on which they were traded. Lenders and borrowers became
increasingly able to access both domestic and foreign financial markets, and early stages of
globalization began to arise through the integration of different financial markets. In this essay, I
will define financial market integration, give a brief background as to the context in which it
occurred, and describe different methods used to measure the magnitude of integration that took
place across financial markets throughout this period. I will conclude that when sufficient
information is available, one can find the degree to which markets are integrated by the ... Show

It was therefore much more difficult to achieve high levels of integration. From a historical
standpoint, it is important to know the degree to which financial markets were integrated because
the level of market integration gives great insight to the reasons for a certain amount of growth
among economies. As markets become more integrated, more and more securities are demanded and
issued which translates to more money flowing into the market, and therefore more capital
investment and economic growth.
I will now discuss methods which economic historians use to measure the degree of market
integration that was taking place during a certain period.
Firstly, I will use the stock exchanges in London and in Amsterdam to exemplify the measurement
of integration between two financial markets (rather than across multiple markets). Shares of the
same joint stock corporations were traded simultaneously on both exchanges starting in the summer
of 1723 and continuing into the nineteenth century, both through periods of peace and large wars
(Neal, The Integration and Efficiency of the London and Amsterdam Stock Markets in the
Eighteenth Century, 97).
The basis for measurement of integration between these two markets comes from the Law of One
Price, which states: "Taken on an

Moving Averages: The moving average is a technical analysis indicator used to "smooth out" price
action on a cryptocurrency chart by separating random price fluctuations from the overall trend. The
simple moving average (SMA) takes the average prices over a specified period (such as days or
weeks), while the exponential moving average (EMA) gives greater weight to recent prices.
Bollinger Bands: Bollinger bands are lines plotted two standard deviations above and below the
simple moving average of a cryptocurrency chart. Many traders believe that when prices approach
the "lower band" it is time to buy and when they hit the "upper band" it is time to sell.
3) News and Community Sentiment
Crypto–traders must keep track of community discussion and news events because this information
impacts the market price of cryptocurrencies. News and rumors can have powerful effects on the
market and often create lucrative trading opportunities. Successful traders take advantage of the
power of information by staying active in the Blockchain community and keeping track of industry

When to buy and sell stocks is a question that has been asked by traders and investors since stock
markets were invented. There are literally thousands of ways to trade stocks and make a profit. The
problem is that most investors do not have the technical skills or knowledge to obtain historical
stock market data and then back test all of these strategies to find out which one will work best.
Another problem is that in certain conditions, some strategies will perform better than others. With
this in mind, keeping your trading strategy as simple as possible, and then following it with strict
discipline, is the way to go.
One of the best general models for trading stocks that will produce significant long term profits (if
applied to the correct stocks) is a trend following strategy. Trend following strategies essentially buy
a stock when it breaks out to a new high price of some level, and then exits the position at a low
price. This actually sounds like "buy high and sell low" but the goal is actually to buy high and sell
higher. This is counter to what most

Difference Between Fundamental And Technical Analysis
Business Finance
Fundamental and technical analysis are the two methods used for researching and forecasting the
future growth trends of stocks. Fundamental analysis is defined as a method of evaluating securities
by attempting to measure the intrinsic value of a stock. Fundamental analysts study everything from
the overall economy and industry conditions to the financial condition and management of
companies. While, in turn. Technical analysis is the evaluation of securities by means of studying
statistics generated by market activity, such as past prices and volume.
Two prime example users of either method with immense notoriety and success are Warren Buffet
and George Soros. Two of the greatest investors to have walked the earth. While, George Soros

That 's it.
No matter what you do, no matter how many books you read, no matter how many seminars you

If you spend $2,000, $10,000, or $50 on the next great book, the next automated trading system, the

The second part of the secret is that when you properly prepare for losses, the profits will take care

Investment Funds Follow Various Investment Strategies
Answer 1 Investment funds follow various investment strategies. Objectives common to all
investors are safety of invested funds, capital appreciation or providing for current income. 
Income Funds– The investors here are more concerned about current income rather than capital
gains. These funds focus on stocks with high dividend yield. Investors prefer to hold funds for a
longer time period. Balanced investors who prefer a steady flow of cash without much risk and the
retirees are generally attracted towards income funds. These are conservative investments and avoid
volatility. They can ensure a regular income source for meeting common expenses.  Growth
Funds– Funds are invested in diversified stocks having high capital appreciation and generally
involve more than average risk. Investors not due to retire soon, willing to accept risk and plan to
hold the investments for longer time periods prefer to invest in growth funds. They are considered to
be tax–efficient and provide the benefit of compounding.  Value funds– They focus on safety of
funds and often involve investments that provide dividends and appreciation of capital. They follow
stocks that are considered to be undervalued. Conservative investors who desire less volatile returns
prefer these types of funds. Such investments provide the investors with current inflow of income
(through dividends) alongwith capital appreciation.  Short Funds– Common investors can enjoy
some advantages of hedge funds while

Inside And Outside Of The Firm Essay
Outside players have the ability to influence much of the decision–making that goes on both inside
and outside of the firm. One of the main agents that do this are the security analysts. This player is
very important to the operation of the firm because they influence how outside investors view the
firm in terms of leadership as well as liquidity and other financial measures. Even though security
analysts are known for their intensive research into investment vehicles for their clients they provide
many in–depth services that investment advisors and others who watch and monitor the stock
exchanges may not be able to receive. For instance, security analysts provide analysis of key data
from inside the firm as well as projections for upcoming quarterly and yearly reports so that clients
and prospective clients can make informed investment decisions. Security analysts make up a very
important piece of the financial market by providing accurate and precise analysis, so active and
passive investors including investment banks can make informed decisions. Without security
analysts it would be much more difficult, maybe even nearly impossible, for individual investors
and boutique investment firms to evaluate data and other metrics to make informed investment
decisions because of their lack of manpower and clout. Security analysts are one of the most
important aspects of the financial market because they primarily produce information about the firm

its capital at risk negligible. Although, HFT companies contributes for nearly 65% by volume in

LIQUIDITY PROVIDING Rebate Trading: This type of trading provides liquidity in stocks by

Measuring Volatility Novices being introduced in Trading Boundary Binary Options might think they are risk free but they are not. It is not even that easy as some may have led you to believe. However it cannot be that gloomy after all. Trading Boundary binary Options revolve around the underlying asset and the nature of the response generated by any major economic announcement forthcoming. The importance of the underlying asset to the transaction is crucial and can be understood better by measuring the volatility arising after an announcement. This volatility is measured by the Average True Range. The average True Range discovered by the financial maverick J. Welles Wilder is merely a technical analysis unpredictability pointer for goods or financial commodities. This is simply the difference between the highest and the lowest bars while putting into consideration the gaps that lie in between. High volatility reflects heightened enthusiasm and can be reflected by wider boundaries and this would be an ideal thing for a trader whose predictions were restrained inside the boundaries. Low volatility means less trading enthusiasm and is characterized by narrower boundaries. This would be sad news to any trader who was predicting a break out. Trader wishing to cash in on an In–Boundary Option would be disadvantaged by low volatility. A break out to the contrary would be an easy ride to the bank as it only ... Dow from 1900 until the time of his death in 1902. Today even after 110 years they remain the foundation of what we know today as technical analysis. Dow never published his complete theory but several of his followers compiled his works and that has come to be known as "The Dow Theory". The Dow Theory has six points: The stock market discounts all news The Dow Theory suggests that all information be it of the past, present or future is factored into the prices of stocks and indexes. It includes all micro and macroeconomic factors ranging from inflation to earnings. It also includes events that are expected to happen and could happen. • 27. Inflation and Currency Risk Chapter 1: Research Overview 1.1 Background of the Study Inflation and currency risk is the possibility that the value of assets or income will decrease as inflation shrinks the purchasing power of a currency. Inflation causes money to decrease in value at some rate, and does so whether the money is invested or not. Malaysia is part of the worldwide emerging market where the country aims to achieve the status of a developed country by the year 2020, however, the increase in inflation and currency risk may effect that vision from happening. As inflation and currency plays a major role in the economic world. The performance of a stock market is usually associated with the movements in the exchange rate because of its influence on the stock price of a firm. The foreign exchange market is a place where trading of international currencies occurs between many buyers and sellers around the world. Any fluctuations occur in the currency rate can influence the business activities between two different countries. For example, a strong home currency can leads to the firm's profit when doing business in the country which have a weak currency rate. Inflation risk have very important implications for the portfolio management, cost of capital of a firm, asset pricing and currency hedging strategies, as any source of risk which is not compensated in terms of expected returns should be hedged. Since the profits of relative strength strategies have been considered to be behavioral phenomena and arbitrage is the last and the strongest defender of market efficiency, it is possible to be dubious that limit to arbitrage leads to abnormal returns generated by momentum strategies. This paper fill the gap in literature because of two reasons : firstly, as original purpose, it provides a view on relative strength profitability ; secondly , I do not see many papers looking at relationship between market anomalies although momentum profits and limit to arbitrage have been strongly debated among studies. Barberis and Thaler (2003) presented 3 possible obstacles prevent arbitrageurs from taking advantages of stock mispricing. They argued that arbitrage is limited because of fundamental risk, noise traders risk and implementation costs. Fundamental risk in the sense that perfect substitutes are rare in the real world and arbitrageurs cannot eliminate fundamental risk related to stocks shorted. For example, when arbitrageurs short Ford stocks and buy GM stocks, they can only eliminate risk related to car industry as a whole but cannot avoid the risk specific to Ford. Even there are perfect substitutes, the risk that pessimistic traders driving down stock price more is possible in short run and this forces arbitrageurs close their positions leading to bigger loss. According to Shleifer and Visny (1997) , this situation is highly possible. Shleifer and Visny (1997) argued ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Market Analysis : Beating The Market "Beating the market" is a difficult phrase to analyze. An investor, portfolio manager, fund or other investment specialist produces a better return than the market average. The market average can be calculated in many ways, but usually a benchmark, such as the S&P 500 or the Dow Jones Industrial Average index, is a good representation of the market average. If your returns exceed the percentage return of the chosen benchmark, you have beaten the market. Generally speaking, we totally cannot beat the market since investment fees are one major barrier to beating the market. If you take the popular advice to invest in an S&P 500 index fund, your investment will perform identically to the S&P 500 and investment fees will be subtracted from those returns, preventing you from beating the market. Look for funds with ultra–low fees of 0.1 to 0.2% annually and you 'll be close to equaling the market. Taxes are another major barrier to beating the market. When you pay tax on your investment returns, you lose a significant percentage of your profit –15% or more, depending on your holding period. Investor psychology presents a third barrier to beating the market. People have a tendency to buy high and sell low because they 're inclined to buy when the market is performing well and they sell out of fear when the market starts to drop. This buying and selling behavior makes it impossible to beat the market. In financial economics, the efficient–market hypothesis (EMH) states that it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In finance, there is enormous data which generates during business operations and trading activities. Extracting valuable data from them manually might be unable or spend a lot of time. As a result, data mining plays an importance role of discovering data that can be used to increase profits and evaluate risks of strategic planning and investment. Another common method for forecasting is time series analysis. The traditional analysis uses regression models to discover market trends. However, financial time series are complex, noisy, and nonlinear pattern. As a result, later techniques have applied artificial intelligences; the most popular technique is neural networks (Zhang & Zhou, 2004). According to Refenes's experiment (1994), the back–propagation networks, a type of neural network, predicts more accurately than regression models on the same datasets. Other techniques are ARMA and ARIMA model, genetic algorithm, and random walk. Lenders and borrowers became increasingly able to access both domestic and foreign financial markets, and early stages of globalization began to arise through the integration of different financial markets. In this essay, I will define financial market integration, give a brief background as to the context in which it occurred, and describe different methods used to measure the magnitude of integration that took place across financial markets throughout this period. It was therefore much more difficult to achieve high levels of integration. From a historical standpoint, it is important to know the degree to which financial markets were integrated because the level of market integration gives great insight to the reasons for a certain amount of growth among economies. As markets become more integrated, more and more securities are demanded and issued which translates to more money flowing into the market, and therefore more capital investment and economic growth. I will now discuss methods which economic historians use to measure the degree of market integration that was taking place during a certain period. Firstly, I will use the stock exchanges in London and in Amsterdam to exemplify the measurement of integration between two financial markets (rather than across multiple markets). Shares of the same joint stock corporations were traded simultaneously on both exchanges starting in the summer of 1723 and continuing into the nineteenth century, both through periods of peace and large wars (Neal, The Integration and Efficiency of the London and Amsterdam Stock Markets in the Eighteenth Century, 97). One of the main agents that do this are the security analysts. This player is very important to the operation of the firm because they influence how outside investors view the firm in terms of leadership as well as liquidity and other financial measures. Even though security analysts are known for their intensive research into investment vehicles for their clients they provide many in–depth services that investment advisors and others who watch and monitor the stock exchanges may not be able to receive. For instance, security analysts provide analysis of key data from inside the firm as well as projections for upcoming quarterly and yearly reports so that clients and prospective clients can make informed investment decisions. Security analysts make up a very important piece of the financial market by providing accurate and precise analysis, so active and passive investors including investment banks can make informed decisions. Without security analysts it would be much more difficult, maybe even nearly impossible, for individual investors and boutique investment firms to evaluate data and other metrics to make informed investment decisions because of their lack of manpower and clout. Security analysts are one of the most important aspects of the financial market because they primarily produce information about the firm to various external ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
