This document is a journal entry by a student named Tan Sheau Hui describing their observation of social behaviors near a beverage stall. The student identifies three social psychology concepts seen in their observation: schema, where customers followed an organized queueing and ordering system; self-fulfilling prophecies, where some wore shorts believing it would keep them cool despite likely getting warmer; and availability heuristic, where a passerby was drawn to the beverage stall upon seeing the large crowd. The student concludes it is important to be aware of social psychology concepts to understand oneself and interact well with others.

2. The drawing shows some visible social behavior that I have observed and
captured near a beverage stall.
The first concept of social behavior found in the scene is schema. Schema
describes a pattern of thought or behavior that organizes social information effectively.
Based on the drawing, the customers were following an organized system by first
queueing, second looking at the menu and then start ordering their preferred drinks.
Payment would then be made after the drinks were served.
The concept of self-fulfilling prophecies can also be seen. Self-fulfilling
prophecies describes predictions that in a sense, make themselves come true. Some
people were wearing shorts that they believed could allow them to feel much cooler by
trapping minimal heat around their body in spite of the fact that they would probably get
even warmer revealing their naked skin under the scorching sun.
The social concept of availability heuristic is shown by a pass by man looking at
the beverage stall. Availability heuristic describes judgments that rely on immediate
examples or specific information that come to mind. Through my observation, he was
interested to the menu when he found a large crowd gathering in front of the beverage
shop waiting for their orders.
In conclusion, we should always be aware of the social psychological concepts
and theories in our daily life behavior to understand ourselves better and to allow us to
interact well with the others.
