Abstract
New Schiff base ligand (HL) synthesized by Curcumin and L-Phenyl alanine acts as a bidentate
system with N and O as donors readily available for coordination with metal atoms was
characterized by various spectroscopic methods including 1H-NMR , 13C-NMR , elemental
analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Complexation behavior of mixed complexes of
Schiff base ligand (HL) and Anthranilic acid (Anth,) with M (II) and M'(III) ,were proposed on the
basis of their physical and spectroscopic characterization (conductivity measurement, electronic,
atomic absorption spectroscopy ,magnetic measurements and infra-red spectroscopy) .
Molar conductance and analytical studies confirmed that the complexes exhibit octahedral
geometry., suggest that the complexes are formed in
1: Metal :2 . [ L : Metal : 2Anth] ratio and they proposed to have the general formulae
K[M(L)(Anth)2] (M= Mn(II),Co(II),Ni(II),Cu(II),Zn(II),Cd(II),and Hg(II) And [M' (L)( Anth)2]
(M' = Cr(III) and Fe(III)).
The biological activity of mixed ligand complexes have been assessed in vitro against Candida
albicans fungus and (Escherichia coli, and Bacillis subtilies) bacteria. The results are suggestive
of the fact that the synthesized compounds own notable antimicrobial and antifungal properties.,
also observed from the result that there is a significant difference in the depth of (cotton ) fabric;
though the dyeing condition was optimum.
