 Through Hanshin-Awaji (1995), we realized the importance of
information sharing.
 In Japan, many prefectures already implement disaster
information sharing system using GIS.
 However, in many cases it does not work well.

 Through actual disaster response, we organized the
requirements of activity maps (knowledge) required by each
agency, which is generated from thematic maps (Information).
 We developed an NIED disaster information utilization system
that satisfies requirements for generating activity maps.
 We used the NIED system for disaster response in the
northern Kyushu heavy rain and confirmed its effect.
Future tasks
 It is necessary to research the thematic map (information) and
activity maps (knowledge) requested by each institution more
widely, and advance the research and development of a
system that can be used autonomously.
