Title: Project Muskan
(Supporting Documents - Annexure A)
Objective: MUSKAN means smile in Hindi. The prime objective of Project
Muskan is to bring Smile & Happiness in the lives of poor &
unfortunate children with physical & mental disabilities
Timeframe: This is a timeless & continuing activity.
Purpose: The purpose of Project Muskan is to raise awareness about the
needs of disabled children often called children of a lesser God.
While parents can help their child to grow as a normal human
being, a trained special educator- specialized in taking care of
the children with special needs like stammering, mental and
physical disabilities can help the child to grow as a successful
person.
The Need: The need for such a Project is that India has some 40-80 million
people with disability, 30% of them are children below
fourteen. Almost 90% per cent of these disabled children do
not get any form of schooling. And on top of that a number of
families have to make the difficult choice between bearing the
burden of medical treatment or sending their child to school.
Operational
Strategy:
Help 4 Human Research & Development has tied up with
Prayas School for Disabled Children which has been running a
school for the physically and mentally challenged children with
diseases like spastics, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, slow
learning, dyslexia, hyperactivity, visual and hearing
impairments and autism. Prayas School for Disabled Children
is like our technical consultants. They manage the day to day
affairs of the school and advise us on disability issues.

However despite best efforts Prayas has been facing difficulty
in running the school and meeting the requirements of the
school as well as paying for services of doctors, nurses, trained
special educators and therapist required for the disabled
children. This is where Help 4 Human Research &
Development comes in.
Help 4 Human Research & Development has adopted the
school and stands committed to:
Raise funds to manage the affairs of the school.
Provide scholarships and pay the monthly fee of children
from poor families whose parents cannot afford to pay for
their medical treatment and school fees at the same time
Provide free medicines and medical aid as and when
required for the disabled children
Raise donations through various corporate and
philanthropist individuals and organizations for augmenting
the efforts to improve the school building, buy a school bus
and provide vocational training to the disabled children.
