1 TABIYEH Project Description
The Tabiyeh Gas Expansion project aims at increasing the sales gas quantity available for export from
DEZ gas plant in order to partly fill Syria's gas deficit for Power generation. The main objective of the
development scheme proposed by TEPS is to increase the amount of export gas from 150MMscf/d to
170MMscf/d and optimize the liquid recovery from Tabiyeh.
TAB GAS Project is divided in the following phases:
Phase 1 (20101
): TABIYEH COMMINGLED PRODUCTION
The objective of the commingled production of Tabiyeh oil rim and gas cap is to accelerate the oil
rim production and maximize the liquid recovery.
• Two new commingled wells TAB-COM1 &TAB-COM2 will be drilled and 2 existing wells TAB-
108 & TAB-207 will be converted to commingled production.
• 3 new flowlines from TAB-108, TAB-COM1 and TAB-COM2 will be laid to a new Production
Header in DEZ Gas plant.
• A new Commingled Production separator will be installed in DEZ Gas plant to handle the
effluents from the commingled wells. The new separator will be integrated to the existing DEZ
Gas Plant facilities ( Process, flare, drains, control systems, ESD)
• 1 new 6” NGL line will be laid from the Commingled separator liquid outlet to Jafra inlet
production manifold.
Early Development phase:
To accelerate the implementation of Tabiyeh commingled gas production, an Early Development
Scheme is considered:
• The existing Test separator at DEZ Gas plant will be used temporarily as a Commingled
Separator.
• The NGL line will be installed.
• A 6” flowline will be laid to connect TAB-108 to the existing DEZ Gas plant Test Header.
• TAB-207 will be perforated in the oil reservoir (Coiled Tubing + perforation)
Note:
- If a well has to be tested during the Early Production Scheme, the commingled production
(TAB-108 & TAB-207) will be interrupted for the test.
- Upon completion of full phase 1, the Test separator will be working in its original operating
mode (Test).

Phase 2 (2013): TABIYEH GAS TRAIN CONVERSION (MP PRODUCTION)
The Tabiyeh Gas Train is currently operating at 75 barg inlet and the gas chilling for the recovery
of liquid is achieved by a Joule-Thomson pressure reduction (75 to 32 barg).
With the progressive depletion of Tabiyeh gas cap, the wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) and
he Tabiyeh Gas Train inlet pressure will drop levels and the Joule Thomson operating mode will
become ineffective to chill the gas and recover NGL. At this point, the Tabiyeh Gas Train must be
converted to an external refrigeration mode identical to the Associated Gas Train with an inlet
pressure of 30-35 barg. This conversion requires the installation of new equipments: 2 new Gas
Chillers, 1 New Propane Compressor with Scrubbers/Condenser/Economizer.
Phase 3 (2016): TABIYEH LOW PRESSURE PRODUCTION
(Reduction of TABIYEH gas reservoir pressure to 11 bara).
The objective of this phase is to allow the blowdown of Tabiyeh gas cap to 15 bar WHFP by
installing a low pressure gas compression unit. This low pressure compression unit will compress
gas from 10 to 35 barg to return to a normal operation of Tabiyeh Gas Train. 1 new LP
Production Separator will be purchased and integrated to DEZ Gas plant facilities. 4 new NGL
pumps will be added and 1 Export Gas Compressor will be modified to 1 LP Compressor.

3 HAZOP’s & PTR’s Organization
3.1 Phase 2 (2013): TABIYEH GAS TRAIN CONVERSION
A pre-project phase is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2010.
Tentative planning for HAZOP’s and PTR’s:
• HAZOP 1 and PTR1: June - August 2010
• HAZOP 2 and PTR 2: February - April 2011
• HAZOP 3 (if required) and PTR 3: April - June 2012
Exact timing will be updated with project’s progress.
Reviews’ venues will be decided later with SCR/ED/APP, HSE/SEI, TDO/EXP.
3.2 Phase 3 (2016): TABIYEH LOW PRESSURE COMPRESSION
A pre-project phase is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2013.
Tentative planning for HAZOP’s and PTR’s:
• HAZOP 1 and PTR 1: December 2013 - February 2014
• HAZOP 2 and PTR 2: December 2014 - February 2015
• HAZOP 3 (if required) and PTR 3: November 2015 - January 2016
Exact timing will be updated throughout project’s progress.
Reviews’ venues will be decided later with SCR/ED/APP, HSE/SEI, TDO/EXP.
3.3 Phase 1 (2010): TABIYEH COMMINGLED PRODUCTION
A Preliminary Study was performed by APP in October 2007 which was completed by an additional
Process study in July 2008.
Due to the ever possible early signature of the contract between TEP Syrie and the Syrian Authorities,
no Pre-project was ever launched and no HAZOP 1 / PTR 1 were performed.
The scope of the Basic Engineering for Phase1 will be submitted to APP for review and HAZOP’s and
PTR’s 2 and 3 will be performed in accordance with DGEP procedures.
The Phase 1 Early Scheme is a temporary mode of operation (approx 6 months) with a limited scope
which does not include the installation of additional equipments in DEZ Gas Plant. The target completion
date for the Early Scheme is end March 2010.
The Basic Engineering will be done in-house and the Detailed Engineering of the flow-line and NGL line
will be done by the Construction Contractor as is currently the case for all new DEZPC flow-lines. The
Detailed Engineering of the Plant tie-ins will be done by an Engineering Contractor.
