Police recovered over 8,500 packets of synthetic marijuana in St. Tammany Parish in October and seized 281 packs from a convenience store in Gonzales in 2012. Various smoke shops and convenience stores have illegally sold synthetic marijuana containing banned compounds linked to health issues.
