Why Chinese Food Has Lost Its Authenticity
Around the globe, people are very fond trying and experiencing food they have never tasted.
Sometimes your own ethnic food and taste can appear tedious to you at a certain amount of time.
One of the most popular ethnic foods in America is the Chinese cuisine. Society is so blindly in love
with it, they cannot seem to notice that Chinese food in America is not the authentic food in China.
In addition, American fast food that goes overseas, have misplaced its authenticity as well as
Chinese food in America due to many valid reasons. The conclusion of authenticity has raised an
argument whether for what reasons why Chinese food has lost its authenticity. Moreover, the

From Xiaoyu Yan's article "Chinese Food in America vs Chinese Food in China" writes to us, "In
addition, Americanized Chinese food leaves out many ingredients that Americans find unacceptable
and dull which includes, pig ears, chicken feet, duck blood or jellyfish. served on the side" (Yan).
Therefore, chefs are restaurants in America add ingredients such as meat products such as chicken
or pork due to reason that Americans find pig ears, chicken feet and duck blood unacceptable. In
addition, many people such as the Chinese customers find it offensive because main ingredients in
Chinese food such as bean products or, pig ears or jellyfish are just as important as meat for a dish
in America.
Secondly, the taste of authentic Chinese food in China depends on different states and Chinese food
in the U.S is loaded with salt and sugar. For instance, Chinese food in America, chefs are restaurants

"Chinese Food in America vs Chinese Food in China" explains to us "many provinces in south
China, such as Szechuan, Yunnan, and Hunan, are famous for their spicy foods, but their spicy
spices are different from each other. People in northeast China are more likely to add a soybean
source when cooking, so their food is relatively saltier and darker in color. Shanghai people are well
known for having a 'sweet tooth'. In easier terms, the traditional,

Dinner Menu Analysis
Hanna, now solely responsible for this growing family, continued attending the community college,
training to become a medical transcriber, hoping to eventually find a job that would bring in a
steady income. Since they never knew when or if any money, i.e. child support, would be coming
into their non–existent budget, their dinner menu was the only unbroken routine in their lives. The
following dinner menu was as predictable as the sun coming up each morning:
1. Sunday: Pot roast, instant potatoes that came from a box, corn from a can, a slice of white bread
with butter;
2. Monday: Spanish rice, Pete's favorite, but hated by everyone else;
3. Tuesday: Macaroni and Cheese, not from a box, but a concoction of macaroni noodles mixed with
a can of watered–down Cheddar Cheese soup;
4. Wednesday: Spaghetti with meatless sauce;
5. Thursday: Hot dogs, pork and beans, potato chips;

She spent the entire afternoon in the kitchen. Soon the house filled with the rich, cinnamon aroma of
cookies baking. Pete, Kate, Millie, Susan, Sam, and Beth eagerly awaited this rare treat. Hot out of
the oven, Molly doled out one cookie to each of the six waiting hands. In unison, they bit into the
cookies. Their mouths were assaulted with the taste of the Dead Sea. The saltiness caused instant
thirst as each scrambled to be the first to reach the water faucet. "Well, do you like them?" she
questioned.
This was a defining moment in their family. Should they be honest and tell her what they really
thought of her salty cookies gagging them to death, or applaud her efforts and be grateful they had a
big sister who took on more responsibility than a young woman of seventeen should at this time in
her life? Without even thinking about a response, as a group, they chose the latter. They gratefully
accepted and ate every salt–laced cookie she handed out.

Chinese Religions And The Western World
Until very recently, the Chinese religions have remained fairly unknown to the Western world.
Unlike the religions that have stemmed from the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent, East Asian
philosophies have never had a strong concept of missionary spirit. Therefore, their expanse
remained confined to the East Asian nations of China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and Mongolia.
However, in the last hundred years or so, an increase in political, commercial, and cultural contacts
of the East Asian region with other parts of the world broke this trend. This helped to spread the
philosophies of East Asian sages all around the globe. Scriptures and traditions of Confucianism,
Buddhism, and Taoism spread beyond the East Asian region and reached areas far and beyond, thus
spreading their concept of harmony, and love for the beauty of nature. Today, a considerable amount
of East Asian populations live throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas and continue to
influence the people and culture of these regions (Hopfe, 170.) Therefore, to acknowledge the
impact of the aforementioned East Asian philosophies on American culture, this essay discusses
three significant elements of the American lifestyle – healthcare, cuisine, and art.
Traditional Chinese Medicine, based on Chinese traditions of more than 2,000 years, comprises of
various medicinal practices such as acupuncture, herbal medicines, massage (Tui Na), and exercise
(qigong). Unlike other branches of medicine, the ideology

Essay on Chinese Influence on American Cuisine
Chinese Influences on America through Cuisine Since the 20th century, Chinese food has had an
influence on American cuisine, with over 40,000 Chinese restaurants across the country. There are
more Chinese restaurants in America than all of the McDonald's, Burger Kings, and KFC's
combined! The Chinese have taken over the American food kingdom. The history of Chinese food
started in the 1800s, when the Chinese came over to the United States during the Gold Rush. But the
Chinese didn't really eat what was considered "normal" food. They ate cats, rats, and sometimes
dogs for meals. The Americans considered the Chinese as "aliens" because of their difference in
culture. 34 years later, the Chinese were banned from coming ... Show more content on

So now, when you go to your local Chinese restaurant, you can see the key ingredients that the
Americans have used to make General Tso's chicken their own. Chinese food is found all over the
world (even in Antarctica where Monday night is Chinese food night at McMurdo's station, the
biggest research facility in Antarctica). It's also found out of this world! NASA has put sweet and
sour pork on their shuttle menu. So while the astronauts are floating in outer space, they can enjoy
the food that they always eat back at home. Tea is one of the most popular non–alcoholic beverages
in America. It is used as a caffeine–booster, a medicine for colds and other sicknesses, and much
more. Not only is it useful for millions of people, it also originated in China. It was already a
common drink during the Qin Dynasty (third century BC) and became widely popular during the
Tang Dynasty. Later, it was imported to Europe and during the time in which America was
colonized by the British, it was sent over became widely popular throughout the 13 original

Cultural Appropriation And Its Effects
Most things in life are not guaranteed. However, a few things are like taxes and cafeteria food being
of low quality. Students at Oberlin are complaining about the school's cafeteria food is racist and
"cultural appropriation". Cultural appropriation is the act of taking another cultural group's culture.
In this case, it is from poorly made Asian foods like sushi and General Tso's chicken. They claim
that because these foods are poorly made, it is an insult to them and their culture. Most people find
this case to be absolutely ridiculous and use it as a way to prove that people can get offended over
anything.
The whole idea of cultural appropriation is taking culture from a marginalized group. This has
recently became a hot issue with the droves of Tumblr and their ilk. The main problem with the
people are fighting cultural appropriation is that it makes it so there is no "right" way to share other
people's cultures around. This is taken to the extreme in this case, it is ridiculous to say that
somebody is stealing culture when the food is poorly prepared. From the article, a Japanese student
was complaining about the quality of the sushi being prepared at the school and the lack of fresh
fish. Well, as a person who enjoys sushi I can easily say that an American school will never be a
good place for sushi. Especially a landlocked, tiny liberal arts school in Ohio. Quality sushi is really
hard to come by in Ohio, outside of specialized restaurants. That's not stealing

A Well Dinner At The Family Table
A well–prepared dinner at the family table was a staple of my childhood. Arriving home from a long
day at school, I could always expect my mother to soon make her way to the kitchen to begin her, as
she called it, "second job." College life and all of its responsibilities, however, have flipped my
expectations of my day–to–day eating experiences. Keeping a log of when and why I am eating has
opened my eyes to the reality of food no longer being a priority in my life. I eat when I can afford
the time as other obligations take my focus. Food has also mostly lost its human qualities. I now feel
as if I am merely consuming to allow myself to continue functioning as opposed to enjoying food
for its quality or savoring a social aspect. The first thing I immediately noticed from my food
journal was the minimalistic nature of my diet. I begin the average weekday by consuming
something unimaginative, such as oatmeal or a sandwich, before making my way to campus. After
my classes, it is nearly three in the afternoon when I attempt to contemplate what I will next have.
This midday meal usually consists, yet again, of something lackluster and repetitive. Many of these
meals are a basic sandwich or include a baked potato. Beyond that meal is a guessing game as to
when I will eat again. I try to push back eating as long as I can so that I can accomplish as many
responsibilities as possible. Only once hunger has brought itself to the forefront of my
consciousness will I then again

Analysis Of Peking Restaurant
For this project, I went to Peking restaurant in Junction City, Kansas, to discover more about the
culture of a Chinese restaurant. Whether good or bad, I went in with the expectation of this being
just a generally "Chinese" restaurant that most restaurants that reflect some Asian culture and was
surprised to find out that this restaurant was intended to be legitimately Chinese in its cultural
identity. Through asking some of the staff questions about the restaurant and my own observations, I
wrote this paper to share what I learned on my pseudo–fieldwork trip to Peking restaurant. What is
represented in the décor and art in the restaurant? The décor of the restaurant is much what is
expected of a Chinese Restaurant in America. The wall decorations were mostly art that reflected
the Chinese art style that most American people would associate with a sit down Chinese restaurant.
Most of the décor had some Chinese characters on them, but I did not inquire on what they said.
There was an aquarium in the restaurant, but it was more of a diorama in that there were not actual
fish. Overall, save for the distinctly Chinese décor, the restaurant looked and felt like any other
restaurant that I could step into in a small town. What music and sounds, such as languages(s), are
heard? The music that was playing in the background of the restaurant was all in Chinese, but all of
the songs were some kind of music that was relaxing and set a calm environment. While sitting in

My Experience Of My Family
Growing up in Brooklyn, New York I had many friends from different cultural backgrounds, and the
neighborhood I lived in was a melting pot of families from all over the globe. Among them Kimmie
Chang, Gabby Martinez, Bella D'Amato, and Logan O'Neill. The air always smelt of delicious
ethnic cuisines, and all of the languages were interesting to listen to. The best part was that each
family had children close to my age so I was always experiencing a different lifestyle. Feeling so
popular among the community, I was invited to dinner at all of my friend's houses at a certain time
of the year. Fascinated by different dialect I found myself analyzing conversation at the dinner table,
observing the way each family's lifestyle was so different than mine in every way. During my
younger years, my brain was able to process a lot from my friends and their families that I could
write a book.
One spring afternoon during the sixth grade, Kimmie Chang's family moved in next door all the way
from South Korea. I was invited to play at her home and luckily, I experienced healthy eating at its
finest by age of eleven. According to Author Karin Lehnardt, South Koreans eat healthily, "Only
3.2% of South Koreans are overweight, which ties the country of Japan for the lowest percentage of
the world." For the first time, I enjoyed a spicy pickled cabbage called Kimichi, pork belly and
seafood stew. Tremendous amounts of bold seasoned foods covered the table as I thought to myself,

International Students Cope With Eating American Cuisine...
Summary Paragraph: One of the many issues that international students face is coping with
American food. With food being linked to culture, international students must face one of the
hardest tasks when coming to America, eating someone else's culture while neglecting their own. In
this research project, I will investigate how international students cope with eating American cuisine
or what measures they take to avoid it. Introduction: Nothing represents a culture better than food.
Food is the fastest way for people to bond and experience one another's culture. Thousands of
students travel from international colleges and universities. These people spend most of their life
eating different foods, foods that they are accustomed to and are naturally born to like. Before
starting college, I never gave any thought of how international students feel about consuming food
of another culture for entire year or in some cases, for multiple years. This is what gave me the idea
to study the culture of international students, including their practices and daily routines. According
to The Kansas State Collegian [daily newspaper at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas],
international students attending the University share a fear of gaining weight from eating American
food. American food is portrayed to them as 'greasy' and 'not very diverse'. Tang, an international
student, who attends KSU claims that in China, her friends would worry for her weight, making her

Buffalo Wild Wings Essay
I chose the restaurant Buffalo Wilds Wings because my family goes there very often and we just like
going there when we want to go out to eat or just our go–to restaurant. We love going there, but we
go there only when we can. We go there when we have time to kill, or when we actually have time.
Buffalo Wild Wings, or B Dubs, was founded in 1982 in Columbus, OH. They realized how they
were getting popular by the day, or by the week, but their goal was to build a restaurant in every
state of the United States. I chose this place because it's the perfect place to get together with
friends, watch sports, and eat wings. They are also really popular because they serve what their fans
like best, and it´s wings, sports, and beer. My family's favorite thing to get is 60 mild buffalo wings.
The wings they serve are delicious. My family is pretty small, it contains five people, but only four
of us eat wings. They serve a lot of wings for four people. Their wings are super tender. I love how
you can hear the sound of your bite as soon as you actually bite into the wing. They are really saucy.
I love how they put a decent amount of sauce and how the remaining sauce can work as a dip. I love
how they are saucy, but sometimes they put way too much sauce. Don´t get me wrong, I love saucy
wings but sometimes they just put too much. But other then that, the wings are amazing. My
favorite part of this dish is that they don't serve wings too small, too big, but just right. It´s like
killing two birds with one stone. I like how they are really filling and you're satisfied with the
portions. Besides the wings, our go to burger is the classic cheese burger. My family loves the
classic cheese burger. We always get that burger because it's huge, but the best part out of all of it, is
that it melts in your mouth. As soon as you bite in the burger, everything melts in your mouth. The
patty is super tender. I love how the patty is juicy and delicious. Besides the patty, the melted cheese
and the fresh vegetables go hand in hand with the patty. The melted cheese is the thing that brings
all the burger together. The cheese is the item that gives the whole burger the melting sensation. I
love this burger and I recommend this burger

29 November 2012 Comparison of Chinese and Western Food Culture Food is closely related to
people's lives and it is considered the most important element in Chinese culture. Chinese food is
famous all over the world too. American Chinese cuisine differs significantly from the traditional
Chinese cuisine and even though the variation in taste can be so it is still attractive to many people.
When it comes to food, Chinese people always care about the color, taste, smell and shape of

Grilling meats and spit roasting over a pit fire are both common even today. Americans use
barbecue smokers to cook chicken, pork and corn. Frying is the most common in Western countries
because almost every famous dish is related to frying. Examples include fried chicken, French fries,
burgers and fries, etc. Local families in America like to do baking, which is generally applied to
breads, lasagna, manicotti, pastries and other sweet confections. There is a big difference between
Chinese and American cooking methods. One is mainly concentrated on the color, smell and shape.
The other is always speedy, convenient and cheap.
Secondly, the ingredients in Chinese and American food are different. Chinese cuisine involves rice,
flour, beans, and vegetables. American cuisine is relatively simple and mainly includes meat, bread
and vegetables. For the Chinese one, most dishes include rice, because it is the main crop of many
Asian countries and is used in almost every capacity. Not only steamed rice, but rice paper and
noodles can be included in a meal. Second, tofu is often used in vegetarian meals, because it is high
in protein. It is used heavily in regions with a tradition of Buddhism. Third, sauces are important to
flavor rice and stir–fry. Soy sauce, oyster sauce, black bean sauce, and fish sauces are easy to keep

The Dominant Race: A Sci-Fi Short Story
It was midday in the beginning of February. Light snow flurries fluttered in the dim winter sun.
Businessmen and women walked briskly to coffee shops and cafés to warm their empty stomachs,
cautions of the wet, snow–covered sidewalk. Skyscrapers and apartment complexes towered over
the bustling crowds and the heavy bumper–to–bumper traffic. Impatient taxi drivers cursed and
honked away at the careful drivers. Every so often, the ground under my feet rocked with the
passing of the under ground city train.
While walking through the New York City, the scene of a bustling workday and the towering steel
skyscrapers transformed into a scene of jubilant children playing with miniature dragons surrounded
by old brick buildings decorated with red lanterns and firecrackers. Red paper, ash, burnt–out
firecrackers, and bits of lettuce covered the smoky streets. Adults conversed and smoked, while they
watched the children dance in a line to an inaudible beat. Restaurants were packed with people
purchasing arrays of meats, snacks, and delectable cakes to eat and share with friends and family. It
was the first day of the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese Lunar Calendar in the year 2000. I walked
into the packed Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant to have lunch with my colleague, a Professor of

Hash Browns For When You're Sad or Tired Imagine yourself stumbling home after and exhausting
day. You open the fridge door only to find nothing appetizing. There are no leftovers to quickly heat
up, no frozen pizzas to bake in the oven, and your stomach is going to vacate your body if you eat
another peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You want something greasy, delicious, and completely
unhealthy. It's nine o'clock at night and breakfast is on your mind. The easiest and most delicious
thing to make is "hot mess" hash browns. So pull out that bag of hash browns that have been sitting
in your freezer for three months. It's the diced kind that you bought by mistake. ... Show more

There should be a dusting of garlic powder all over. Liberally add salt and pepper. When you
eventually snag a bite because it's been six hours since you've last ate it should taste faintly of garlic
and onion but shouldn't be overpowering the potatoes. At this point you realize that you should
probably put a lid on the potatoes. Rummage through your cupboard until you get fed up with
looking for the actual lid. Grab the lid that's a little too big and place it over the pan anyways. Once
your meal is sizzling away stumble back over to your fridge. Open it and glance around, take in the
"I haven't gone grocery shopping in three weeks" bareness of your fridge. Towards the back spy a
still unopened, pre–cooked package of bacon. To the left there's a half finished packaged of diced
ham. The shelf above has a box of Velveeta cheese that you bought when you went through that
phase where you ate nothing but grilled cheese. Finally there's a small bunch of chives left over
from when you made baked potatoes last week. Grab everything in a blind daze and throw it on the
counter.
Go dig through your cupboards until you find your cutting board and then grab a knife. First grab
your bacon. Pull out every single slice and stack them all on top of each other. Try to cut them all at

Evolution Of American Cuisine
Another thing that makes me proud of my culture is our food. For us Puerto Ricans, our food holds
vast meaning that is far beyond being a basic need to survive. Our identity and practice are bound
up with our cuisine and food serves as our expression of celebration, camaraderie and traditions.
There is something unique about our food. Missing a single ingredient will make the taste different.
Therefore, living far from my island and not getting the access of our native food used to be a

My Passion For Cooking Essay
I've always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning
about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days
it isn't even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it's a classic, but something that I've created. Cooking
is my time to be me. It's the "art form" I pride myself at being good at and I don't have to try (unlike
drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new
foods and ingredients. My mind feels "at home" when it's in the process of creating in the kitchen.
It's fun getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a pinch
of this and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward of my
creativity is taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I've done is fully realized
when I can share my work with others.
Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax
for a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I've never heard of before, what pairs best with this
spice or that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could go
on for hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still find
joy in the art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself.
As a way to challenge myself, I started selling

Italian Food Importance
The Importance of Food in Italy Italy is a country vast in history, amazing architecture, historical
ruins, stunning scenery, fabulous food and more. Traditions rule throughout the years. One of the
traditions is the food they make and how it is passed down from generations. The relationships
Italians have with their family are very strong and it is important to them to pass down their
traditions and recipes. Food has a strong social aspect with the Italians. It is important for them to
get together to cook and share meals. In Italy, Italian food is a big part of their culture. Some four
million Italians came to America, largely from the south of Italy and the island of Sicily. People that
come to America carry along the tastes and sometimes also the seeds, recipes and ingredients of
their homes. What the world today knows as pizza is the product of a long history of changing
connections between Italy and the Americas and between both countries and the entire world. It is a
history of travel, tourism, migration, agriculture, industry, commerce and creativity in the kitchen.
(Pizza, pasta and red sauce: Italian or American). More Italians have migrated to the United States
than any other
Europeans. They had a long history of migrating to foreign countries as a way of coping with
poverty and dislocation. The earliest Italian immigrants to the United States were northern
Italians, who became prominent as fruit and food merchants in New York and wine growers in
California.

Mexican Cuisine And Its Effects On American Culture
Peru is different than other Latin American countries because of its immense diversity. Immigrants
from all different origins, come together and contribute something special to the original Peruvian
culture and cuisine. In Peru, each group of people is different. However, when they arrive in the
United States, they are seen as Peruvian. These Peruvians are identified by their country, rather than
what region they come from. When they come to America the fear and anxiety of assimilating to a
foreign country is eased by the diverse individuals coming together with familiar foods from their
shared homeland. At the same time, their food is able to bring a new flavor to mainland culture and
American society.
Peruvian cuisine has been influenced by its geography. Peru is divided into three major regions: the
western coast, the highlands, and the jungle. In each part, the climate influences the cuisine
drastically and adds flavors to the food. The western coast is dry, with a large area of land for
agriculture, making it easier for large amounts of potatoes to grow (Ember 1755). In the highlands,
where the indigenous community lives, the weather constantly changes. They are able to produce
different kinds of food such as corn, rice, and potatoes even due to the weather (Albala 267). Since
Peru is in such close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, it is a main resource for fish and therefore is
prevalent a lot in the cuisine (Wall 22).
The Inca Empire created Peru's original cuisine

Having customer value is very important. Customer value is determined by customers' perception of
what they get in exchange for what they have to give up. In order to meet the buyer's expectations,
the salesperson must be fully honest and lead the buyers at their best interests and needs.
Salespeople must let the buyers explain themselves in order to deliver the things they need. It is also
important to fully understand the product they are selling in order for the buyers to trust everything
you say. If you do not know anything about the product, the buyers will undermine you and brush
you off because you are no longer help to that buyer. Product knowledge is one of the main keys to

My Bubble Research Paper
In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my
mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within
my own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from
everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone
else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very
colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices.
I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of
friends. I never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new
because I feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things.
Growing up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however,

TRAVEL ARTICLE– STREET FOOD IN LUCKNOW
'Lucknow, the land of Nawabs and Kebabs' we have heard this phrase about a million times from

than the Kebabs. Lucknow has evolved drastically with time. It is one of the largest and fastest

cultures and religions. People from various regions have migrated to this big city with the dream of
a better life. The cuisine of Lucknow is a reflection of this. There is 100% no doubt that there is no

Historical Importance: The BTL's evolved in the 1920's from sliced meat and cheese sandwiches.
The importance of this sandwich dates back to World War II. After the second world war, there was
a rapid expansion of trade and markets worldwide. Because of the rapid expansion, bacon, lettuce,

the BLT became known worldwide, many products used the example of the sandwich to promote

legacy left by Milton Hershey will never be forgotten.
Personal Importance: Chocolate is my fifth choice because it is something I enjoy, but try to limit

will look at a little history of the state, food items it is exports, climate and geography and it
wouldn't be right not to talk about a "popular" chef in the area and finally we will tie it all in a neat
bow with a few recipes popular with Tennesseans.
Like Southern food in general, traditional Tennessee food developed from a fusion of European,
Native American, and African traditions. The pork and wheat of Europe, the corn and beans of
America, and the cooking style of African–Americans combined to make the barbeque, biscuits,
beans and cornbread found throughout the state.
Tennessee is the place to be for top–notch barbecue and stick–to–your–ribs home style cooking. But
if you think the states culinary offerings all lie on the casual side, you'll miss out on some of the
finest food around. Many talented chefs call Tennessee home, and the restaurants, resorts and
tucked–away spots where you'll find them offer experiences you'll savor.
When Europeans first arrived in 1540, native peoples in Tennessee had an abundant and varied food
supply.

Why Chinese Food Has Lost Its Authenticity

  • 1. Why Chinese Food Has Lost Its Authenticity Around the globe, people are very fond trying and experiencing food they have never tasted. Sometimes your own ethnic food and taste can appear tedious to you at a certain amount of time. One of the most popular ethnic foods in America is the Chinese cuisine. In addition, American fast food that goes overseas, have misplaced its authenticity as well as Chinese food in America due to many valid reasons. The conclusion of authenticity has raised an argument whether for what reasons why Chinese food has lost its authenticity. Therefore, chefs are restaurants in America add ingredients such as meat products such as chicken or pork due to reason that Americans find pig ears, chicken feet and duck blood unacceptable. In addition, many people such as the Chinese customers find it offensive because main ingredients in Chinese food such as bean products or, pig ears or jellyfish are just as important as meat for a dish in America. Secondly, the taste of authentic Chinese food in China depends on different states and Chinese food in the U.S is loaded with salt and sugar. For instance, Chinese food in America, chefs are restaurants are only emphasizing on sweeter, saltier and more often greasier food. From Xiaoyu Yan's article "Chinese Food in America vs Chinese Food in China" explains to us "many provinces in south China, such as Szechuan, Yunnan, and Hunan, are famous for their spicy foods, but their spicy spices are different from each other. People in northeast China are more likely to add a soybean source when cooking, so their food is relatively saltier and darker in color. Shanghai people are well known for having a 'sweet tooth'. • 3. Dinner Menu Analysis Hanna, now solely responsible for this growing family, continued attending the community college, training to become a medical transcriber, hoping to eventually find a job that would bring in a steady income. Since they never knew when or if any money, i.e. child support, would be coming into their non–existent budget, their dinner menu was the only unbroken routine in their lives. The following dinner menu was as predictable as the sun coming up each morning: 1. Sunday: Pot roast, instant potatoes that came from a box, corn from a can, a slice of white bread with butter; 2. Monday: Spanish rice, Pete's favorite, but hated by everyone else; 3. Tuesday: Macaroni and Cheese, not from a box, but a concoction of macaroni noodles mixed with a can of watered–down Cheddar Cheese soup; 4. Wednesday: Spaghetti with meatless sauce; 5. Thursday: Hot dogs, pork and beans, potato chips; 6. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She spent the entire afternoon in the kitchen. Soon the house filled with the rich, cinnamon aroma of cookies baking. Pete, Kate, Millie, Susan, Sam, and Beth eagerly awaited this rare treat. Hot out of the oven, Molly doled out one cookie to each of the six waiting hands. In unison, they bit into the cookies. Their mouths were assaulted with the taste of the Dead Sea. The saltiness caused instant thirst as each scrambled to be the first to reach the water faucet. "Well, do you like them?" she questioned. This was a defining moment in their family. Should they be honest and tell her what they really thought of her salty cookies gagging them to death, or applaud her efforts and be grateful they had a big sister who took on more responsibility than a young woman of seventeen should at this time in her life? Without even thinking about a response, as a group, they chose the latter. They gratefully accepted and ate every salt–laced cookie she handed out. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Chinese Religions And The Western World Until very recently, the Chinese religions have remained fairly unknown to the Western world. Unlike the religions that have stemmed from the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent, East Asian philosophies have never had a strong concept of missionary spirit. Therefore, their expanse remained confined to the East Asian nations of China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and Mongolia. However, in the last hundred years or so, an increase in political, commercial, and cultural contacts of the East Asian region with other parts of the world broke this trend. This helped to spread the philosophies of East Asian sages all around the globe. Scriptures and traditions of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism spread beyond the East Asian region and reached areas far and beyond, thus spreading their concept of harmony, and love for the beauty of nature. Today, a considerable amount of East Asian populations live throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas and continue to influence the people and culture of these regions (Hopfe, 170.) Therefore, to acknowledge the impact of the aforementioned East Asian philosophies on American culture, this essay discusses three significant elements of the American lifestyle – healthcare, cuisine, and art. Traditional Chinese Medicine, based on Chinese traditions of more than 2,000 years, comprises of various medicinal practices such as acupuncture, herbal medicines, massage (Tui Na), and exercise (qigong). Unlike other branches of medicine, the ideology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Chinese Influence on American Cuisine Chinese Influences on America through Cuisine Since the 20th century, Chinese food has had an influence on American cuisine, with over 40,000 Chinese restaurants across the country. There are more Chinese restaurants in America than all of the McDonald's, Burger Kings, and KFC's combined! The Chinese have taken over the American food kingdom. The history of Chinese food started in the 1800s, when the Chinese came over to the United States during the Gold Rush. But the Chinese didn't really eat what was considered "normal" food. They ate cats, rats, and sometimes dogs for meals. The Americans considered the Chinese as "aliens" because of their difference in culture. 34 years later, the Chinese were banned from coming ... It's also found out of this world! NASA has put sweet and sour pork on their shuttle menu. So while the astronauts are floating in outer space, they can enjoy the food that they always eat back at home. Tea is one of the most popular non–alcoholic beverages in America. It is used as a caffeine–booster, a medicine for colds and other sicknesses, and much more. Not only is it useful for millions of people, it also originated in China. • 6. Cultural Appropriation And Its Effects Most things in life are not guaranteed. However, a few things are like taxes and cafeteria food being of low quality. Students at Oberlin are complaining about the school's cafeteria food is racist and "cultural appropriation". Cultural appropriation is the act of taking another cultural group's culture. In this case, it is from poorly made Asian foods like sushi and General Tso's chicken. They claim that because these foods are poorly made, it is an insult to them and their culture. Most people find this case to be absolutely ridiculous and use it as a way to prove that people can get offended over anything. The whole idea of cultural appropriation is taking culture from a marginalized group. This has recently became a hot issue with the droves of Tumblr and their ilk. The main problem with the people are fighting cultural appropriation is that it makes it so there is no "right" way to share other people's cultures around. This is taken to the extreme in this case, it is ridiculous to say that somebody is stealing culture when the food is poorly prepared. From the article, a Japanese student was complaining about the quality of the sushi being prepared at the school and the lack of fresh fish. Well, as a person who enjoys sushi I can easily say that an American school will never be a good place for sushi. Especially a landlocked, tiny liberal arts school in Ohio. Quality sushi is really hard to come by in Ohio, outside of specialized restaurants. That's not stealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. A Well Dinner At The Family Table A well–prepared dinner at the family table was a staple of my childhood. Arriving home from a long day at school, I could always expect my mother to soon make her way to the kitchen to begin her, as she called it, "second job." College life and all of its responsibilities, however, have flipped my expectations of my day–to–day eating experiences. Keeping a log of when and why I am eating has opened my eyes to the reality of food no longer being a priority in my life. I eat when I can afford the time as other obligations take my focus. Food has also mostly lost its human qualities. I now feel as if I am merely consuming to allow myself to continue functioning as opposed to enjoying food for its quality or savoring a social aspect. The first thing I immediately noticed from my food journal was the minimalistic nature of my diet. I begin the average weekday by consuming something unimaginative, such as oatmeal or a sandwich, before making my way to campus. After my classes, it is nearly three in the afternoon when I attempt to contemplate what I will next have. This midday meal usually consists, yet again, of something lackluster and repetitive. Many of these meals are a basic sandwich or include a baked potato. Beyond that meal is a guessing game as to when I will eat again. I try to push back eating as long as I can so that I can accomplish as many responsibilities as possible. Only once hunger has brought itself to the forefront of my consciousness will I then again ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether good or bad, I went in with the expectation of this being just a generally "Chinese" restaurant that most restaurants that reflect some Asian culture and was surprised to find out that this restaurant was intended to be legitimately Chinese in its cultural identity. Through asking some of the staff questions about the restaurant and my own observations, I wrote this paper to share what I learned on my pseudo–fieldwork trip to Peking restaurant. What is represented in the décor and art in the restaurant? The décor of the restaurant is much what is expected of a Chinese Restaurant in America. The wall decorations were mostly art that reflected the Chinese art style that most American people would associate with a sit down Chinese restaurant. Most of the décor had some Chinese characters on them, but I did not inquire on what they said. There was an aquarium in the restaurant, but it was more of a diorama in that there were not actual fish. Overall, save for the distinctly Chinese décor, the restaurant looked and felt like any other restaurant that I could step into in a small town. What music and sounds, such as languages(s), are heard? The music that was playing in the background of the restaurant was all in Chinese, but all of the songs were some kind of music that was relaxing and set a calm environment. While sitting in the ... My Experience Of My Family Growing up in Brooklyn, New York I had many friends from different cultural backgrounds, and the neighborhood I lived in was a melting pot of families from all over the globe. Among them Kimmie Chang, Gabby Martinez, Bella D'Amato, and Logan O'Neill. The air always smelt of delicious ethnic cuisines, and all of the languages were interesting to listen to. The best part was that each family had children close to my age so I was always experiencing a different lifestyle. Feeling so popular among the community, I was invited to dinner at all of my friend's houses at a certain time of the year. Fascinated by different dialect I found myself analyzing conversation at the dinner table, observing the way each family's lifestyle was so different than mine in every way. During my younger years, my brain was able to process a lot from my friends and their families that I could write a book. One spring afternoon during the sixth grade, Kimmie Chang's family moved in next door all the way from South Korea. I was invited to play at her home and luckily, I experienced healthy eating at its finest by age of eleven. According to Author Karin Lehnardt, South Koreans eat healthily, "Only 3.2% of South Koreans are overweight, which ties the country of Japan for the lowest percentage of the world." For the first time, I enjoyed a spicy pickled cabbage called Kimichi, pork belly and seafood stew. Tremendous amounts of bold seasoned foods covered the table as I thought to myself, "how am I ... • 12. International Students Cope With Eating American Cuisine... Summary Paragraph: One of the many issues that international students face is coping with American food. With food being linked to culture, international students must face one of the hardest tasks when coming to America, eating someone else's culture while neglecting their own. In this research project, I will investigate how international students cope with eating American cuisine or what measures they take to avoid it. Introduction: Nothing represents a culture better than food. Food is the fastest way for people to bond and experience one another's culture. Thousands of students travel from international colleges and universities. These people spend most of their life eating different foods, foods that they are accustomed to and are naturally born to like. Before starting college, I never gave any thought of how international students feel about consuming food of another culture for entire year or in some cases, for multiple years. This is what gave me the idea to study the culture of international students, including their practices and daily routines. According to The Kansas State Collegian [daily newspaper at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas], international students attending the University share a fear of gaining weight from eating American food. American food is portrayed to them as 'greasy' and 'not very diverse'. Tang, an international student, who attends KSU claims that in China, her friends would worry for her weight, making her watch what she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Buffalo Wild Wings Essay I chose the restaurant Buffalo Wilds Wings because my family goes there very often and we just like going there when we want to go out to eat or just our go–to restaurant. We love going there, but we go there only when we can. We go there when we have time to kill, or when we actually have time. Buffalo Wild Wings, or B Dubs, was founded in 1982 in Columbus, OH. They realized how they were getting popular by the day, or by the week, but their goal was to build a restaurant in every state of the United States. I chose this place because it's the perfect place to get together with friends, watch sports, and eat wings. They are also really popular because they serve what their fans like best, and it´s wings, sports, and beer. My family's favorite thing to get is 60 mild buffalo wings. The wings they serve are delicious. My family is pretty small, it contains five people, but only four of us eat wings. They serve a lot of wings for four people. Their wings are super tender. I love how you can hear the sound of your bite as soon as you actually bite into the wing. They are really saucy. I love how they put a decent amount of sauce and how the remaining sauce can work as a dip. I love how they are saucy, but sometimes they put way too much sauce. Don´t get me wrong, I love saucy wings but sometimes they just put too much. But other then that, the wings are amazing. My favorite part of this dish is that they don't serve wings too small, too big, but just right. It´s like killing two birds with one stone. I like how they are really filling and you're satisfied with the portions. Besides the wings, our go to burger is the classic cheese burger. My family loves the classic cheese burger. We always get that burger because it's huge, but the best part out of all of it, is that it melts in your mouth. As soon as you bite in the burger, everything melts in your mouth. The patty is super tender. I love how the patty is juicy and delicious. Besides the patty, the melted cheese and the fresh vegetables go hand in hand with the patty. The melted cheese is the thing that brings all the burger together. The cheese is the item that gives the whole burger the melting sensation. I love this burger and I recommend this burger ... Businessmen and women walked briskly to coffee shops and cafés to warm their empty stomachs, cautions of the wet, snow–covered sidewalk. Skyscrapers and apartment complexes towered over the bustling crowds and the heavy bumper–to–bumper traffic. Impatient taxi drivers cursed and honked away at the careful drivers. Every so often, the ground under my feet rocked with the passing of the under ground city train. While walking through the New York City, the scene of a bustling workday and the towering steel skyscrapers transformed into a scene of jubilant children playing with miniature dragons surrounded by old brick buildings decorated with red lanterns and firecrackers. Traditions rule throughout the years. One of the traditions is the food they make and how it is passed down from generations. The relationships Italians have with their family are very strong and it is important to them to pass down their traditions and recipes. Food has a strong social aspect with the Italians. It is important for them to get together to cook and share meals. In Italy, Italian food is a big part of their culture. Some four million Italians came to America, largely from the south of Italy and the island of Sicily. People that come to America carry along the tastes and sometimes also the seeds, recipes and ingredients of their homes. What the world today knows as pizza is the product of a long history of changing connections between Italy and the Americas and between both countries and the entire world. It is a history of travel, tourism, migration, agriculture, industry, commerce and creativity in the kitchen. (Pizza, pasta and red sauce: Italian or American). More Italians have migrated to the United States than any other Europeans. They had a long history of migrating to foreign countries as a way of coping with poverty and dislocation. • 32. Joe's Descriptive Writing Have you ever tried a slice of real, famous New York pizza? It's nearly impossible to find that quality outside of NY, especially down here in the South. However, I had heard of this place right off Issaqueena Trail in Clemson that claimed to take you to New York City with one bite. After visiting Joe's, I realized they weren't lying! Joe's New York Pizza sets the bar high for other pizza places due to its high food quality, prompt service, and overall welcoming environment. The sun hung low in the sky as I walked up to the entrance to Joe's. When the front door opened, scents of roasted garlic, melted cheese, and spices and a smile greeted me. The place was spotless with glimmering floors, and the glass looked like you could put your hand through it. There was no mistaking that this was a Clemson oriented shop; orange and purple tables, booths, chairs, and walls filled the building. On the main wall, there was a mural stretching to both ends depicting a roaring tiger, Death Valley post–win, and a plethora of Clemson sports. Towards the back of the dining room, there was an open kitchen, guarded by two stainless steel shelves. I could see the industrial oven through the window, as they pulled out hot, freshly baked pizzas, cut them, and sent them on. Sounds of clanking plates, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt like a penguin waddling out with a full belly. Joe's New York Pizza is hands down the best pizza place I have ever stepped foot in. Their menu had an eclectic group of choices, the place was spotlessly clean, and the pride taken in Clemson via art was admirable. I would rate Joe's 5 stars without a shadow of a doubt. Not only is the food excellent quality, but the first–rate staff and the convivial atmosphere created really sets them apart from other restaurants in the area. I will be returning, and I recommend anyone who hasn't enjoyed a slice of New York pie to get in line at Joe's New York Pizza in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Mexican Cuisine And Its Effects On American Culture Peru is different than other Latin American countries because of its immense diversity. Immigrants from all different origins, come together and contribute something special to the original Peruvian culture and cuisine. In Peru, each group of people is different. However, when they arrive in the United States, they are seen as Peruvian. These Peruvians are identified by their country, rather than what region they come from. When they come to America the fear and anxiety of assimilating to a foreign country is eased by the diverse individuals coming together with familiar foods from their shared homeland. At the same time, their food is able to bring a new flavor to mainland culture and American society. Peruvian cuisine has been influenced by its geography. Peru is divided into three major regions: the western coast, the highlands, and the jungle. In each part, the climate influences the cuisine drastically and adds flavors to the food. The western coast is dry, with a large area of land for agriculture, making it easier for large amounts of potatoes to grow (Ember 1755). In the highlands, where the indigenous community lives, the weather constantly changes. They are able to produce different kinds of food such as corn, rice, and potatoes even due to the weather (Albala 267). Since Peru is in such close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, it is a main resource for fish and therefore is prevalent a lot in the cuisine (Wall 22). • 35. My Bubble Research Paper In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices. I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This tied to my mindset of staying within my safety bubble. Trying new things was against my entire being, as if I would malfunction like a robot without oil. ... My ravenous self rejoiced when I saw a white takeout bag in her hands. I pounced over to her, only for myself to discover my only hope for sustenance was, mozzarella sticks. There is 100% no doubt that there is no match to the 'Kababs' and 'Mutton Biryani' of 'Tunday Kababi' or the 'Chai and Samosas of Sharma Tea Stall' . But for the past decade this City has seen growth of some innovative Street food stalls which are challenging the dominance of various food brands in Lucknow. These food stalls are catering to all the sections I.e from foodies to health freaks at very pocket friendly rates . They are serving comfort food with a twist . Because of the rapid expansion, bacon, lettuce, and tomato were available all year round; encouraging the popularity of the sandwich to grow. After the BLT became known worldwide, many products used the example of the sandwich to promote their product. For example, Hellman's used the BLT to advertise its mayonnaise. • 40. American Regional Cuisine : Chef Reboli TENNESSEE CUISINE By Jayson D. Wheat August 28, 2016 American Regional Cuisine: Chef Reboli The Arts Institute of San Antonio It is however my home state and while not refined or highfalutin, I do enjoy the cuisine of Tennessee. Specifically, I grew up in Springfield, but in this paper I will take a tour around a few different areas in Tennessee and highlight the cuisine they are known for. As a means to the end we will look at a little history of the state, food items it is exports, climate and geography and it wouldn't be right not to talk about a "popular" chef in the area and finally we will tie it all in a neat bow with a few recipes popular with Tennesseans. Like Southern food in general, traditional Tennessee food developed from a fusion of European, Native American, and African traditions. The pork and wheat of Europe, the corn and beans of America, and the cooking style of African–Americans combined to make the barbeque, biscuits, beans and cornbread found throughout the state. Tennessee is the place to be for top–notch barbecue and stick–to–your–ribs home style cooking. But if you think the states culinary offerings all lie on the casual side, you'll miss out on some of the finest food around. Many talented chefs call Tennessee home, and the restaurants, resorts and tucked–away spots where you'll find them offer experiences you'll savor. When Europeans first arrived in 1540, native peoples in Tennessee had an abundant and varied food supply. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
