The Earth is an Oven
Our world is changing. Not for the good, it's getting worse. Within the last two hundred years our
climate has been changing. Ever since the discovery of how useful nonrenewable resources are our
climate has been gradually getting warmer. Climate change is threat with many consequences from
the ecosystems that people live in all the way down to the evolution of species in the wild. There
are many clear and present dangers in the world today, but climate change is of the most importance
causing species to go explode in numbers, average temperatures to increase, uncontrollable forest
fires, and the quality of air depleting.
Climate change is affecting the...show more content...
Take the Mediterranean region for example. Known to scientists, this is a hot spot for climate
change. The study done showed that these hotter climates allowed the region's trees and vegetation
to become drier and thus providing a great fuel source for fires to burn. Not only is the region
experiencing hotter temperatures, but it is expected to get worse. "Future projections indicate a
sustained increase in temperature, particularly in summer, at a rate that continues the historic value.
Wildfires are already common in the forests and grasslands of the western United States. As the Earth
gets warmer and droughts increase, wildfires are expected to occur more often and be more
destructive. Wildfires do occur naturally, but the extremely dry conditions resulting from droughts
allow fires to start more easily, spread faster, and burn longer. In fact, if the Earth gets just 3.6В°F
warmer, we can expect wildfires in the western United States to burn four times more land than
they do now. Fires don't just change the landscape; they also threaten people's homes and lives"
(Turco 127). This supports the claim that climate change is affecting the way our environment
interacts with natural disasters. Climate change can also affect the land that humans use for crops.
Climate change is also likely to cause stronger storms and more floods, which can damage crops.
Increasing temperatures and evolving rainfall patterns could help some kinds of weeds and
pesticides to spread to vast areas. If the global temperature rises an additional 3.6В°F, U.S. corn
production is expected to decrease by ten to thirty percent. .Climate change is not only destroying
our world, it's burning it away and making it unusable for crops and other growable

Global Warming and the Media Essay
Global Warming and the Media
In this paper I will show that the issues of global warming have been misrepresented by some and
cleverly utilized by others, (Y) by giving an overview of global warming as it is portrayed by the
media, (Z) so that people will learn to search for scientific information regarding important issues for
themselves. (P1) The media's constant over–coverage of global warming is desensitizing the public to
the very real problem of global warming. (P2) In the movies, An Inconvenient Truth and The Day
After Tomorrow, global warming was portrayed in two very different ways. Desensitization and

The main basis of the movie, though, is supposed to be global warming, but the writers have
added some absolutely incorrect "facts." Some of the "facts" include the idea that mass global
warming would occur in just a few days with almost no warning which is ridiculous (Kolbert 55). I
do agree that once triggered, it will have a massive domino effect; it is still unfeasible that eight
tornados would form over Los Angeles without anyone knowing beforehand. The Dick Cheney
look–alike vice president shows complete disregard for the issue even after being given several
warnings, sounds familiar, no? Although Hollywood makes some thoroughly laughable pieces,
there are some people who are willing to try to make their movies as factual as possible. Daniel
Percival tried to be as accurate as possible in his depiction of dirty bombs in the movie Dirty War
(Scholmeyer 261). In The Day After Tomorrow, the director, Mr. Emmerich, is clearly trying to
make a political statement, but not sticking strictly to the facts. In The Day After Tomorrow, there
are some scenes that make me proud, and others that make me incredulous. In the movie, the
destruction caused by climate change, the mass exodus into Mexico is an ironic twist that is very
clever. In another scene, the scientists in the movie seemed to all be completely shocked at the
occurrences; at the NASA research center, many scientists were just watching the televisions as Los
Angeles was ravaged by tornados, which seems

Solutions to Global Warming Essay
You hear about it from television news broadcasts. You read about it in newspapers and magazines.
You talk about it with friends and co–workers. There have even been movies made about it. The "it"
is global warming. "Global warming refers to the global–average temperature increase that has been
observed over the last one hundred years or more" (Spencer). Some experts argue that global
warming is a result of human activities, while others believe the warming and cooling of the Earth's
atmosphere is a natural cycle. Supporters of human induced global warming stress that since the
Industrial Revolution we have released excessive amounts of carbon dioxide, a known "greenhouse

The world's population has doubled from three billion to six billion from 1959 to 1999 and is
expected to reach nine billion in 2040 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2008). Because of population growth,
there is increased consumption of natural resources. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
(2007) states that the increase in global temperature is a direct result of human activities and is the
most likely contributing factor in issues such as rising sea levels, melting of polar ice caps, and
increased severity of weather. In reality, global warming does exist and has adverse effects on our
environment. If human activities significantly contribute to increases in global warming, what are
some things we can do to minimize our impact on the environment?
Sometimes the smallest idea could have the largest impact. The following are some simple solutions
that can be implemented at home or at work. One simple way to tackle climate change is to stop
debating over the issue and start doing something about it (Lynas, 2007). Politicians and
organizations spend too much time and money discussing ideas to minimize or reverse global
warming. Some things we can do which may have positive impacts on the

Global Warming Reflection
I have a feeling when people watch this movie they have more of an idea about global warming.
When Al Gore explains how global warming is affecting the world as a whole and shows
evidence of the ice cracking, it makes you realize global warming isn't really something we
should mess around with. When Al Gore stated "What we take for granted might not be here for
our children" it's really the cold hard truth. As long as we let pollution continue from factories
like we have for the last hundred years, I'm afraid we really might not have the world we live in
today for our future children. As Al Gore said, "it's important to rescue the frog", in all reality that
frog is us. We will gradually let this change go on because it's happening over time. The frog as
the movie showed, jumped out of the pot while it was boiling at first, but when the pot went from
being cold to gradually warming up, the frog had no reaction until it was saved. Theoretically the
frog wouldn't know there was a danger until a helping hand pulled it out of the water. What I believe
is the effects of global warming might get worse as time goes on, but we won't realize until
someone shows us how far we are to possible death. No–one likes change, if majority of the people
on the earth had a vote to go to another planet before ours got worse, I can almost guarantee many
of the humans on earth would disagree because of that change and process they have to go through.

Global Warming
In the February 1st edition of the New York Times, journalist Andrew C. Revkin discusses the rising
threat of global warming, and more importantly, the disagreement between various nations and
institutions upon the definition of "dangerously high global warming." Revkin's article, titled
"Deciding How Much Global Warming Is Too Much," brings to light the various failed attempts at
creating a barrier at which industrialized countries (the main producers of the greenhouse gasses
which result in global warming) will cut the release of harmful gasses into the atmosphere. Revkin
also discusses how upcoming events, conferences; reports will hopefully solve this problem.
The initial proposal for controlling global...show more content...
On the other hand, there are many researchers who claim that the affects of global warming are still
far too premature, and therefore, there cannot be a fair temperature target. Instead of instituting
temperature targets, supporters of the later theory have suggested adapting society to the changes in
climate, or even moving inland to avoid rising sea levels.
Due to the various theories that have been proposed, not all countries have agreed on controlling the
environment in the same way. The United States, for example, has refused the proposals at the
Kyoto conferences and is currently being pressured to join other industrial nations that have curbed
the emission of harmful gasses. Revkin stated in his article that an intergovernmental climate control
group is to present a report expected to be the most comprehensive understanding of global warming.
Regardless of the plan that is put into effect for reversing the negative effects of global warming, if
any exist at all, it is imperative that a definition of dangerous be drafted. Many scientists say that the
process of preventing global warming from reaching dangerous levels has already taken too long,
and at this rate the negative effects of dangerous gasses will not be reversible. Some of the effects
that could result from global warming range from floods, droughts, and a rise in sea level causing
erosion in beaches. This threat of global warming does not

Climate Change
Since the mining of Natural gases and energy, Emissions of greenhouse gasses have been slowly
releasing into the atmosphere. This happens by burning the natural gases to create energy for our
vehicles or even lawnmowers. On Earth we utilize a lot of energy to maintain a lifestyle we know
and love today. But most forms of energy, cars and Farming produce large amounts of green–house
gases that can heat and change the earth's atmosphere permanently and cause the ice caps to slowly
melt because of constant heating. Industries and Electrical generation are estimated to produce "a
little over 50%" of greenhouse emissions, making it the biggest problem (Petterson...show more

cutting down forests in Brazil, as well as setting wildfires in places like west Texas cause
"carbons stored in trees" to escape. Individuals don't understand that in places like "Brazil,"
deforestation causes more emissions than "all of the world's cars." There are other forms of
greenhouse gases as well; like "Methane" released from "Rice Farming, Petroleum drilling, and
even cattle bleaching" (Friedman 35). Over "10 Billion" animals are raised for Factory Farms in the
United states. Burning Fossil Fuels for fertilizer creates up to "41 million metric tons" of Carbon
Dioxide. The Factory Farm industry contributes to air pollution by emitting Greenhouse Gases such
as "Hydrogen Sulfide, Ammonia and Methane" (DoSomething Web). Factory Farms is something
that can easily be changed by switching to smaller meat establishments, where the common public
already expects the meat to come from.
Some would say that global warming emissions are not something to to worry about right now
because it would take a long time to see a large effect. But in reality, any type of effect to the
environment we live off could be devastating to future human existence. We don't want to be at risk
later just so we can live our extravagant lifestyles now.
Energy, Cars and Farming are some of the largest forms ofGreenhouse gas emission. They create a
heated atmosphere that

Globalization And The Global Warming
Globalization is a concept that has raised a lot of issues in our ecology. Global warming (which is
the melting ice caps), elimination of species, pollution of the atmosphere and deforestation are a
few of the key issues that are causing a dominoes effect to create an inhabitable planet. In the debate
of globalization versus the environment, I, like Philips Legrain, believe in managing both in such a
way that is beneficial to all life forms in the long run.
The elimination of species is a phenomenon that could have been foreseen, but globalization has
succeeded in strengthening and hastening the process. Due to greed and the insatiability of human
beings, we have created consumerism which has caused producers to produce so much more than
human beings need or can consume. These products eventually go to waste on natural land masses as
well as the ocean, therefore affecting the lives of our wild life and exotic species. Humans are the
only animals who have a concept of the future, we know that we are not only affecting our own lives
but also that of the organisms around us. Scientists are aware of the damage that is being done to our
environment but the government of most countries, especially those in the first world countries do
not take it into consideration and they don't take it for the crisis that it is. According to French, the
government ignore the role of relative prices and externalities on the environment. This ignorance is
causing developing countries to deal with

Global warming is an increase in the earth's temperature due to fossil fuels, industry, and agricultural
processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions. (Melissa Phillips). This results in an
increased emission of greenhouse gases. (Caroline Quatman). Short–wave solar radiation sinks into
the Earth's atmosphere and warms its surface; while longwave infrared radiation emitted by earth's
surface is absorbed, and then re–emitted by trace gases. (Brent C. Willhoite)
Climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere due to a buildup of greenhouse gases.

These gases trap heat and cause the greenhouse effect, rising global temperatures.(Heidi Sterrett).
Human activities add to the levels of these gasses, causing more problems. The burning of solid
waste, fossil fuels, and wood products are major causes. Automobiles, heat from homes and
businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide emissions, 25% of
methane, and 20% of the nitrous oxide emissions. The increase in agriculture, deforestation, landfills,
industrial production, and mining contribute a significant share of emissions too The gases released
into the atmosphere are tracked by emission inventories. An emission inventory counts the amount of
air pollutants discharged into the atmosphere. These emission inventories are used by many
organizations. NASA and meteorologists also use them.(Heidi Sterrett).
The Centers for Disease Control have been involved in studying global warming's effect on human
health. Global warming is a danger to a human's health. Its affect on climate can adversely affect
humans. Plagues have been attributed to global warming. An increase in temperature can result in
a longer life cycle for diseases or the agents spreading them. Living in a warm area makes egg
production a quicker process. Global warming will lead to more precipitation, which enables
infectious diseases to be more easily contracted and spread.

Thesis Statement : Global Warming
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe
that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and
have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern
changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very
passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that
are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go
beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the
destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the
increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from
the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of
causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors.
Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is
being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control
people 's lives and for financial gain. "Within the community of scientists and others concerned about
anthropogenic climate change, those who are skeptics are more commonly termed

The Importance Of Climate Change
Climate change has been evident across the globe, and mostly, it has impacted some areas more
than others. However, there has been a strong correlation that climate change has been linked to the
new threat to humans, diseases caused by vectors. The purpose of this paper is to examine climate
change and the spread of the zika virus.
One cannot shy away from the fact that climate change has been caused by some of the human–based
activities on the environment. These activities have been at an increasing rate over the past years
generated a wave that cannot be stopped by anyone since our natural environment is no longer
independent, but being interfered by humans. We know that different economies are trying their best
to up their game through urbanization, technological advancements, and globalization, however, it is
not all good at all since there are alterations in both the economic and social patterns on the globe.
Land, air, and water are the top most endangered natural resources in the environment since their
degradation is increasing each day and every night (McMichael & Confalonieri, 2015).
Climate change cannot be disputed citing the fact that it is real and basically, the human activities
are primarily responsible for these changes in climate. Most of the human population lives in
desperation and poverty citing that close to 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate
sanitation, something which increases the prevalence of diseases in the areas they live.

Global Warming
We should all be very concerned about our future on Earth as human beings. We may not be at such
an immediate risk of burning to death, but our future descendants are. Every year, the overall
temperature has gone up slowly. Eventually Earth will be too hot to live on, and the human race will
become extinct! The best way to save our future is to start now. Americans should be conscientious of
global warming and should watch their CO2 emissions because increasing CO2 concentrations
means an increase in Earth's temperature.
Being conscientious of global warming means making smart decisions on fossil fuel burning. As we

If we don't have to drive, we shouldn't! Taking a bicycle to work does not harm the environment,
and also it can be a good form of exercise. In Alan Durning's essay, he argues that free parking is "
a major cause of the nation's unquenchable thirst for gasoline and automobile use" (330). With
excessive parking available in cities and around town, we seem to feel that we have almost
nothing to gain by leaving our cars at home (331). An interesting statistic Durning notes is that if
millions of workers across the country left their cars at home and paid at least an extra $2500 for
parking at work, this would save 2.5 million barrels of oil a day (332). Decreasing the number of
free parking available would obviously decrease the number of automobile commuters. The land
used for parking could be used for other more important structures. "And, as drivers begin to face
the full environmental and social costs of their decisions, auto use would decrease" (331) which will
result in less fossil fuel burning.
We Americans need more advertising about global warming around the cities and communities.
Youngsters need to be educated about the matter because they are the future. They need to be aware
of the dangers of the future. Bjorn Lomborg wrote in his essay that global warming is "not anywhere
the most important problem in the world" (329). There are by far much more important matters that

Synthesis Essay On Global Warming
Global warming has been a controversial topic for years and some have even denied its existence;
however, as more studies are being published every day in regards to our changing climate, it is
hard to ignore this growing issue and how humans contribute to it. The term greenhouse gases refers
to the group of gases that are primarily responsible for global warming and chief among these gases
is carbon dioxide. Rising carbon dioxide levels can be attributed to a combination of burning fossil
fuels such as coal, natural gas, and petroleum as well as deforestation in general ( Source A). To
slow the effects of global warming, it is important for leaders in our society to consider their
greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, and make...show more content...
According to an article focused on environmental awareness, "the world's average surface
temperature rose by approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit, the fastest rate in any period over the last
1000 years" (Source A). Damage has already been done to the environment but it is not the time
to throw our hands up, it is the time for leaders in all sectors to tackle this issue head on. We know
that carbon dioxide is the culprit, so now it is imperative to implement the solution and take a
hard look at who is producing the most greenhouse gases. Big changes need to take place but they
can only be done in steps and not all at once to be effective. In an excerpt from a book about
global warming, Mark Maslin brings up the point that many feel the Kyoto Protocol does not go
far enough; scientists believe that a 60% cut of greenhouse gas emissions is necessary in order to
"prevent major climate change" (Source E). A sixty percent cut of emissions should be what
countries work up to achieving but first and foremost, every country needs to agree to the Kyoto
Protocol guidelines. The Kyoto Protocol itself should not be viewed as the end in the discussion of
greenhouse gas restrictions, but rather the first stepping stone to a much broader and effective

Global Warming is due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring
process that aids in heating the Earth's surface and atmosphere. It results from the fact that certain
atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, are able to change the energy
balance of the planet by being able to absorb longwave radiation from the Earth's surface. Without
the greenhouse effect, life on this planet would probably not exist as the average temperature of the
Earth would be a chilly –18 degrees Celsius, rather than the present 15 degrees Celsius.
As energy from the sun passes through the atmosphere a number of things take place. A portion of
the energy (26 %...show more content...
The now warmer atmospheric greenhouse gas molecules begin radiating longwave energy in all
directions. Over 90 % of this emission of longwave energy is directed back to the Earth's surface
where it once again is absorbed by the surface. The heating of the ground by the longwave radiation
causes the ground surface to once again radiate repeating the cycle described above, again and
again, until no more longwave is available for absorption.
The amount of heat energy added to the atmosphere by the greenhouse effect is controlled by the
concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. All of the major greenhouse gases have
increased in concentration since the beginning of the industrial revolution (about 1700 A.D.). As a
result of these higher concentrations, scientists predict that the greenhouse effect will be enhanced
and the Earth's climate will become warmer. Predicting the amount of warming is accomplished by
computer modeling. Computer models suggest that a doubling of the concentration of the main
greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, may raise the average global temperature between 1 and 3 degrees
Celsius. However, the numeric equations of computer models do not accurately simulate the effects
of a number of possible negative feedbacks. For example, many of the models cannot properly
simulated the negative effects that increased cloud cover would have on

Some people say global warming is caused by human activity, others say global warming doesn't
even exist. Some people claim that the climate is changing for the worse. They believe that humans
are the primary cause of these changes, especially the increase in temperature, caused by the burning
of fossil fuels. They believe that the temperature changes are causing glaciers to melt. They claim
that the melting of ice masses leads to a higher sea level and worsening conditions for Arctic
animals, as well as other negative effects on the environment. Others do not agree with this. They
say that the climate is not changing at all and that if it is, it is certainly not due to human behavior.
The term "global warming" refers to an abnormal, increasing average temperature of the planet. The
average temperature has fluctuated constantly throughout the whole time the Earth has existed, but
recently the climate has changed in ways it has not done earlier, as well as more rapidly than it
ever has before. The natural reasons for the climate to change are still occurring, but with an
addition of some thought to be caused by human activities. The primary cause behind the increasing
temperature is according to NASA large amount of greenhouse gases being released into the air
when fossil fuels are being burnt. The higher temperatures are said to cause for example melting
glaciers and increased coastal erosion. The melting of ice results in negative changes to the
ecosystem of the affected

Scientists report that global warming has been escalating since the Industrial Revolution.
Governments are trying to reduce carbon–dioxide emissions. With the speed of destruction of
Earth?fs ecosystem, the survival of many species, including human beings, is threatened. In order to
solve this danger, we have to reduce the consumption of energy and use the alternative energy
resources. If we calculate the present energy price, alternative energy must be more expensive than
fossil fuels. However if we consider the negative price which is caused by global warming, this
result might be different. Now I would like to propose some solutions: (1) reduce the use of fossil
fuels; (2) find alternative energy...show more content...
(2) Find alternative energy resources
I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have
experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However, there are other alternatives such as wind power,
tidal power, and solar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the
cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some
industrialized countries, those experimental power sources have succeeded as profitable solutions.
If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our
planet, people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources.
(3) Recycle usable resources
In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of
recycling. However this is done in many cities in the U.S. Why not do the same thing in other
industrialized nations? In some states of the U.S., people pay five–cent deposit when they buy beer
and other beverages. In order to get the money back, people collect cans and bottles. Human beings
are egoistic: we have to give ourselves some kind of monetary incentive. And it works.
(4) Planting Trees to help combat global warming
As we know, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. However, scientists found
that the carbon–sink effect grows out of recent evidence that

Global Warming and Climate Change Essay
Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural
process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy
from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The
gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous
oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to
be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any
greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the
earth. Global warming can and...show more content...
Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this
process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is
a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include
wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the
atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed
20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane)
A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the
water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great
amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the
temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other
people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of
rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing
season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more
money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some
crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There

Leading scientists advise climate change will cause increases to the frequency and intensity of
extreme weather events. Rising sea levels pose a significant risk to coastal communities, while the
world's oceans could become too acidic to support coral reefs and other calcifying marine organisms.
Climate change is difficult to communicate by its very nature. Greenhouse gases are invisible, and
their accumulating effects (e.g., global warming, precipitation changes, and extreme weather
events) can take years before they are felt. Worldwide warming trends are hard for the average
person to detect amidst the variability of everyday weather and the causes are far removed, in both
time and space, from the impacts. Climate change is thus an example of "hidden hazards"–risks that,
despite potentially serious consequences for society, generally pass unnoticed or unheeded until they
reach disaster proportions (Kasperson and Kasperson, 1991).

In the first day of English 101 Climate Change and Multimedia class, Professor Sheila Tefft
assigned the class to write a self–reflection about our perspective on writing. I wrote that I use
recursive strategy, which is writing in the order of a thesis statement, topic sentences, evidence,
analysis, and conclusion. Knowing this approach, I thought I would be successful. However, I
encountered more challenges in this class than a success.
I encountered a challenge in the first major assignment, which was writing a research paper after
reading Mark Lynas' Six Degrees. In this research paper, we had to address our opinion on one
environmental issue, and I asked myself whether vertical farming could be a potential solution to
stopping deforestation in Brazil. The objective of this writing, according to the syllabus, was to
learn how to "summarize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the ideas of others as we [you]
undertake a scholarly inquiry to produce our [your] own arguments." I exactly followed this step. I
first did a general research on vertical farming and deforestation in Brazil, analyzed the information,
synthesized the main argument, and delivered my thought to my audience, who are general public
and proponents believing vertical farming is the future of agriculture.
The challenge had started when I had changed my opinion from vertical farming can stop
deforestation to vertical farming cannot stop deforestation. It was a struggle to me, as pundits have
already proven

Global Warming Essay
Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens
because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas
emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide,
methane and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns
warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its
average temperature. Global warming isn't the end of the world, it's just a natural process in which
the Earth cleans or rinse organisms.
Now a days the Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for
about 80% of today's carbon dioxide...show more content...
Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix
with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of
theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of
temperature changes.
Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched;
these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can
change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that
prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions
done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are
being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into
the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen,
this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented
and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is
being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of
gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many
scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run

Global Warming Essay In English

  • 1. Global Warming Persuasive Papers Jeremy Bonnett Professor Maldonado English 1301 12th November, 2015 The Earth is an Oven Our world is changing. Not for the good, it's getting worse. Within the last two hundred years our climate has been changing. Ever since the discovery of how useful nonrenewable resources are our climate has been gradually getting warmer. Climate change is threat with many consequences from the ecosystems that people live in all the way down to the evolution of species in the wild. There are many clear and present dangers in the world today, but climate change is of the most importance causing species to go explode in numbers, average temperatures to increase, uncontrollable forest fires, and the quality of air depleting. Climate change is affecting the...show more content... Take the Mediterranean region for example. Known to scientists, this is a hot spot for climate change. The study done showed that these hotter climates allowed the region's trees and vegetation to become drier and thus providing a great fuel source for fires to burn. Not only is the region experiencing hotter temperatures, but it is expected to get worse. "Future projections indicate a sustained increase in temperature, particularly in summer, at a rate that continues the historic value. Wildfires are already common in the forests and grasslands of the western United States. As the Earth gets warmer and droughts increase, wildfires are expected to occur more often and be more destructive. Wildfires do occur naturally, but the extremely dry conditions resulting from droughts allow fires to start more easily, spread faster, and burn longer. In fact, if the Earth gets just 3.6В°F warmer, we can expect wildfires in the western United States to burn four times more land than they do now. Fires don't just change the landscape; they also threaten people's homes and lives" (Turco 127). This supports the claim that climate change is affecting the way our environment interacts with natural disasters. Climate change can also affect the land that humans use for crops. Climate change is also likely to cause stronger storms and more floods, which can damage crops. Increasing temperatures and evolving rainfall patterns could help some kinds of weeds and pesticides to spread to vast areas. If the global temperature rises an additional 3.6В°F, U.S. corn production is expected to decrease by ten to thirty percent. .Climate change is not only destroying our world, it's burning it away and making it unusable for crops and other growable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Global Warming and the Media Essay Global Warming and the Media In this paper I will show that the issues of global warming have been misrepresented by some and cleverly utilized by others, (Y) by giving an overview of global warming as it is portrayed by the media, (Z) so that people will learn to search for scientific information regarding important issues for themselves. (P1) The media's constant over–coverage of global warming is desensitizing the public to the very real problem of global warming. (P2) In the movies, An Inconvenient Truth and The Day After Tomorrow, global warming was portrayed in two very different ways. Desensitization and Demoralization As American citizens, we are bombarded everyday with information about the world. Because global warming...show more content... The main basis of the movie, though, is supposed to be global warming, but the writers have added some absolutely incorrect "facts." Some of the "facts" include the idea that mass global warming would occur in just a few days with almost no warning which is ridiculous (Kolbert 55). I do agree that once triggered, it will have a massive domino effect; it is still unfeasible that eight tornados would form over Los Angeles without anyone knowing beforehand. The Dick Cheney look–alike vice president shows complete disregard for the issue even after being given several warnings, sounds familiar, no? Although Hollywood makes some thoroughly laughable pieces, there are some people who are willing to try to make their movies as factual as possible. Daniel Percival tried to be as accurate as possible in his depiction of dirty bombs in the movie Dirty War (Scholmeyer 261). In The Day After Tomorrow, the director, Mr. Emmerich, is clearly trying to make a political statement, but not sticking strictly to the facts. In The Day After Tomorrow, there are some scenes that make me proud, and others that make me incredulous. In the movie, the destruction caused by climate change, the mass exodus into Mexico is an ironic twist that is very clever. In another scene, the scientists in the movie seemed to all be completely shocked at the occurrences; at the NASA research center, many scientists were just watching the televisions as Los Angeles was ravaged by tornados, which seems Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Solutions to Global Warming Essay You hear about it from television news broadcasts. You read about it in newspapers and magazines. You talk about it with friends and co–workers. There have even been movies made about it. The "it" is global warming. "Global warming refers to the global–average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more" (Spencer). Some experts argue that global warming is a result of human activities, while others believe the warming and cooling of the Earth's atmosphere is a natural cycle. Supporters of human induced global warming stress that since the Industrial Revolution we have released excessive amounts of carbon dioxide, a known "greenhouse gas," into the atmosphere and increased the Earth's...show more content... The world's population has doubled from three billion to six billion from 1959 to 1999 and is expected to reach nine billion in 2040 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2008). Because of population growth, there is increased consumption of natural resources. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007) states that the increase in global temperature is a direct result of human activities and is the most likely contributing factor in issues such as rising sea levels, melting of polar ice caps, and increased severity of weather. In reality, global warming does exist and has adverse effects on our environment. If human activities significantly contribute to increases in global warming, what are some things we can do to minimize our impact on the environment? Sometimes the smallest idea could have the largest impact. The following are some simple solutions that can be implemented at home or at work. One simple way to tackle climate change is to stop debating over the issue and start doing something about it (Lynas, 2007). Politicians and organizations spend too much time and money discussing ideas to minimize or reverse global warming. Some things we can do which may have positive impacts on the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Global Warming Reflection I have a feeling when people watch this movie they have more of an idea about global warming. When Al Gore explains how global warming is affecting the world as a whole and shows evidence of the ice cracking, it makes you realize global warming isn't really something we should mess around with. When Al Gore stated "What we take for granted might not be here for our children" it's really the cold hard truth. As long as we let pollution continue from factories like we have for the last hundred years, I'm afraid we really might not have the world we live in today for our future children. As Al Gore said, "it's important to rescue the frog", in all reality that frog is us. We will gradually let this change go on because it's happening over time. The frog as the movie showed, jumped out of the pot while it was boiling at first, but when the pot went from being cold to gradually warming up, the frog had no reaction until it was saved. Theoretically the frog wouldn't know there was a danger until a helping hand pulled it out of the water. What I believe is the effects of global warming might get worse as time goes on, but we won't realize until someone shows us how far we are to possible death. No–one likes change, if majority of the people on the earth had a vote to go to another planet before ours got worse, I can almost guarantee many of the humans on earth would disagree because of that change and process they have to go through. Many signs of global warming actually Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Revkin discusses the rising threat of global warming, and more importantly, the disagreement between various nations and institutions upon the definition of "dangerously high global warming." Revkin's article, titled "Deciding How Much Global Warming Is Too Much," brings to light the various failed attempts at creating a barrier at which industrialized countries (the main producers of the greenhouse gasses which result in global warming) will cut the release of harmful gasses into the atmosphere. Revkin also discusses how upcoming events, conferences; reports will hopefully solve this problem. The initial proposal for controlling global...show more content... On the other hand, there are many researchers who claim that the affects of global warming are still far too premature, and therefore, there cannot be a fair temperature target. Instead of instituting temperature targets, supporters of the later theory have suggested adapting society to the changes in climate, or even moving inland to avoid rising sea levels. Due to the various theories that have been proposed, not all countries have agreed on controlling the environment in the same way. The United States, for example, has refused the proposals at the Kyoto conferences and is currently being pressured to join other industrial nations that have curbed the emission of harmful gasses. Revkin stated in his article that an intergovernmental climate control group is to present a report expected to be the most comprehensive understanding of global warming. Regardless of the plan that is put into effect for reversing the negative effects of global warming, if any exist at all, it is imperative that a definition of dangerous be drafted. Many scientists say that the process of preventing global warming from reaching dangerous levels has already taken too long, and at this rate the negative effects of dangerous gasses will not be reversible. Some of the effects that could result from global warming range from floods, droughts, and a rise in sea level causing erosion in beaches. This threat of global warming does not Get more content on HelpWriting.net

AP English Language: Climate Change Erik Arvidson Mrs. Clark–Gonzalez AP English Language 23 February 2016 Climate Change Since the mining of Natural gases and energy, Emissions of greenhouse gasses have been slowly releasing into the atmosphere. This happens by burning the natural gases to create energy for our vehicles or even lawnmowers. On Earth we utilize a lot of energy to maintain a lifestyle we know and love today. But most forms of energy, cars and Farming produce large amounts of green–house gases that can heat and change the earth's atmosphere permanently and cause the ice caps to slowly melt because of constant heating. Industries and Electrical generation are estimated to produce "a little over 50%" of greenhouse emissions, making it the biggest problem (Petterson...show more content... cutting down forests in Brazil, as well as setting wildfires in places like west Texas cause "carbons stored in trees" to escape. Individuals don't understand that in places like "Brazil," deforestation causes more emissions than "all of the world's cars." There are other forms of greenhouse gases as well; like "Methane" released from "Rice Farming, Petroleum drilling, and even cattle bleaching" (Friedman 35). Over "10 Billion" animals are raised for Factory Farms in the United states. Burning Fossil Fuels for fertilizer creates up to "41 million metric tons" of Carbon Dioxide. The Factory Farm industry contributes to air pollution by emitting Greenhouse Gases such as "Hydrogen Sulfide, Ammonia and Methane" (DoSomething Web). Factory Farms is something that can easily be changed by switching to smaller meat establishments, where the common public already expects the meat to come from. Some would say that global warming emissions are not something to to worry about right now because it would take a long time to see a large effect. But in reality, any type of effect to the environment we live off could be devastating to future human existence. We don't want to be at risk later just so we can live our extravagant lifestyles now. • 7. Globalization And The Global Warming Globalization is a concept that has raised a lot of issues in our ecology. Global warming (which is the melting ice caps), elimination of species, pollution of the atmosphere and deforestation are a few of the key issues that are causing a dominoes effect to create an inhabitable planet. In the debate of globalization versus the environment, I, like Philips Legrain, believe in managing both in such a way that is beneficial to all life forms in the long run. The elimination of species is a phenomenon that could have been foreseen, but globalization has succeeded in strengthening and hastening the process. Due to greed and the insatiability of human beings, we have created consumerism which has caused producers to produce so much more than human beings need or can consume. These products eventually go to waste on natural land masses as well as the ocean, therefore affecting the lives of our wild life and exotic species. Humans are the only animals who have a concept of the future, we know that we are not only affecting our own lives but also that of the organisms around us. Scientists are aware of the damage that is being done to our environment but the government of most countries, especially those in the first world countries do not take it into consideration and they don't take it for the crisis that it is. According to French, the government ignore the role of relative prices and externalities on the environment. This ignorance is causing developing countries to deal with Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Short–wave solar radiation sinks into the Earth's atmosphere and warms its surface; while longwave infrared radiation emitted by earth's surface is absorbed, and then re–emitted by trace gases. These gases trap heat and cause the greenhouse effect, rising global temperatures.(Heidi Sterrett). Human activities add to the levels of these gasses, causing more problems. The burning of solid waste, fossil fuels, and wood products are major causes. Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide emissions, 25% of methane, and 20% of the nitrous oxide emissions. The increase in agriculture, deforestation, landfills, industrial production, and mining contribute a significant share of emissions too The gases released into the atmosphere are tracked by emission inventories. An emission inventory counts the amount of air pollutants discharged into the atmosphere. These emission inventories are used by many organizations. NASA and meteorologists also use them.(Heidi Sterrett). The Centers for Disease Control have been involved in studying global warming's effect on human health. Global warming is a danger to a human's health. Its affect on climate can adversely affect humans. Plagues have been attributed to global warming. An increase in temperature can result in a longer life cycle for diseases or the agents spreading them. Living in a warm area makes egg production a quicker process. Global warming will lead to more precipitation, which enables infectious diseases to be more easily contracted and spread. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Thesis Statement : Global Warming Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future. Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors. Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control people 's lives and for financial gain. • 10. The Importance Of Climate Change Climate change has been evident across the globe, and mostly, it has impacted some areas more than others. However, there has been a strong correlation that climate change has been linked to the new threat to humans, diseases caused by vectors. The purpose of this paper is to examine climate change and the spread of the zika virus. One cannot shy away from the fact that climate change has been caused by some of the human–based activities on the environment. These activities have been at an increasing rate over the past years generated a wave that cannot be stopped by anyone since our natural environment is no longer independent, but being interfered by humans. We know that different economies are trying their best to up their game through urbanization, technological advancements, and globalization, however, it is not all good at all since there are alterations in both the economic and social patterns on the globe. Land, air, and water are the top most endangered natural resources in the environment since their degradation is increasing each day and every night (McMichael & Confalonieri, 2015). Climate change cannot be disputed citing the fact that it is real and basically, the human activities are primarily responsible for these changes in climate. Most of the human population lives in desperation and poverty citing that close to 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation, something which increases the prevalence of diseases in the areas they live. • 11. Global Warming Essay Global Warming We should all be very concerned about our future on Earth as human beings. We may not be at such an immediate risk of burning to death, but our future descendants are. Every year, the overall temperature has gone up slowly. Eventually Earth will be too hot to live on, and the human race will become extinct! The best way to save our future is to start now. Americans should be conscientious of global warming and should watch their CO2 emissions because increasing CO2 concentrations means an increase in Earth's temperature. Being conscientious of global warming means making smart decisions on fossil fuel burning. As we all know fossil fuels are a nonrenewable resource that produces CO2, which is detrimental to...show more content... If we don't have to drive, we shouldn't! Taking a bicycle to work does not harm the environment, and also it can be a good form of exercise. In Alan Durning's essay, he argues that free parking is " a major cause of the nation's unquenchable thirst for gasoline and automobile use" (330). With excessive parking available in cities and around town, we seem to feel that we have almost nothing to gain by leaving our cars at home (331). An interesting statistic Durning notes is that if millions of workers across the country left their cars at home and paid at least an extra $2500 for parking at work, this would save 2.5 million barrels of oil a day (332). Decreasing the number of free parking available would obviously decrease the number of automobile commuters. The land used for parking could be used for other more important structures. "And, as drivers begin to face the full environmental and social costs of their decisions, auto use would decrease" (331) which will result in less fossil fuel burning. We Americans need more advertising about global warming around the cities and communities. Youngsters need to be educated about the matter because they are the future. They need to be aware of the dangers of the future. Bjorn Lomborg wrote in his essay that global warming is "not anywhere the most important problem in the world" (329). There are by far much more important matters that need to be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Synthesis Essay On Global Warming Global warming has been a controversial topic for years and some have even denied its existence; however, as more studies are being published every day in regards to our changing climate, it is hard to ignore this growing issue and how humans contribute to it. The term greenhouse gases refers to the group of gases that are primarily responsible for global warming and chief among these gases is carbon dioxide. Rising carbon dioxide levels can be attributed to a combination of burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and petroleum as well as deforestation in general ( Source A). To slow the effects of global warming, it is important for leaders in our society to consider their greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, and make...show more content... According to an article focused on environmental awareness, "the world's average surface temperature rose by approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit, the fastest rate in any period over the last 1000 years" (Source A). Damage has already been done to the environment but it is not the time to throw our hands up, it is the time for leaders in all sectors to tackle this issue head on. We know that carbon dioxide is the culprit, so now it is imperative to implement the solution and take a hard look at who is producing the most greenhouse gases. Big changes need to take place but they can only be done in steps and not all at once to be effective. In an excerpt from a book about global warming, Mark Maslin brings up the point that many feel the Kyoto Protocol does not go far enough; scientists believe that a 60% cut of greenhouse gas emissions is necessary in order to "prevent major climate change" (Source E). A sixty percent cut of emissions should be what countries work up to achieving but first and foremost, every country needs to agree to the Kyoto Protocol guidelines. The Kyoto Protocol itself should not be viewed as the end in the discussion of greenhouse gas restrictions, but rather the first stepping stone to a much broader and effective Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Global Warming is due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring process that aids in heating the Earth's surface and atmosphere. It results from the fact that certain atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, are able to change the energy balance of the planet by being able to absorb longwave radiation from the Earth's surface. Without the greenhouse effect, life on this planet would probably not exist as the average temperature of the Earth would be a chilly –18 degrees Celsius, rather than the present 15 degrees Celsius. As energy from the sun passes through the atmosphere a number of things take place. A portion of the energy (26 %...show more content... The now warmer atmospheric greenhouse gas molecules begin radiating longwave energy in all directions. Over 90 % of this emission of longwave energy is directed back to the Earth's surface where it once again is absorbed by the surface. The heating of the ground by the longwave radiation causes the ground surface to once again radiate repeating the cycle described above, again and again, until no more longwave is available for absorption. The amount of heat energy added to the atmosphere by the greenhouse effect is controlled by the concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. All of the major greenhouse gases have increased in concentration since the beginning of the industrial revolution (about 1700 A.D.). As a result of these higher concentrations, scientists predict that the greenhouse effect will be enhanced and the Earth's climate will become warmer. Predicting the amount of warming is accomplished by computer modeling. Computer models suggest that a doubling of the concentration of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, may raise the average global temperature between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius. However, the numeric equations of computer models do not accurately simulate the effects of a number of possible negative feedbacks. For example, many of the models cannot properly simulated the negative effects that increased cloud cover would have on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Some people say global warming is caused by human activity, others say global warming doesn't even exist. Some people claim that the climate is changing for the worse. They believe that humans are the primary cause of these changes, especially the increase in temperature, caused by the burning of fossil fuels. They believe that the temperature changes are causing glaciers to melt. They claim that the melting of ice masses leads to a higher sea level and worsening conditions for Arctic animals, as well as other negative effects on the environment. Others do not agree with this. They say that the climate is not changing at all and that if it is, it is certainly not due to human behavior. The term "global warming" refers to an abnormal, increasing average temperature of the planet. The average temperature has fluctuated constantly throughout the whole time the Earth has existed, but recently the climate has changed in ways it has not done earlier, as well as more rapidly than it ever has before. The natural reasons for the climate to change are still occurring, but with an addition of some thought to be caused by human activities. The primary cause behind the increasing temperature is according to NASA large amount of greenhouse gases being released into the air when fossil fuels are being burnt. The higher temperatures are said to cause for example melting glaciers and increased coastal erosion. The melting of ice results in negative changes to the ecosystem of the affected Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Solutions to Global Warming Essay example Solutions to Global Warming Scientists report that global warming has been escalating since the Industrial Revolution. Governments are trying to reduce carbon–dioxide emissions. With the speed of destruction of Earth?fs ecosystem, the survival of many species, including human beings, is threatened. In order to solve this danger, we have to reduce the consumption of energy and use the alternative energy resources. If we calculate the present energy price, alternative energy must be more expensive than fossil fuels. However if we consider the negative price which is caused by global warming, this result might be different. Now I would like to propose some solutions: (1) reduce the use of fossil fuels; (2) find alternative energy...show more content... (2) Find alternative energy resources I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However, there are other alternatives such as wind power, tidal power, and solar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some industrialized countries, those experimental power sources have succeeded as profitable solutions. If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our planet, people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources. (3) Recycle usable resources In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of recycling. However this is done in many cities in the U.S. Why not do the same thing in other industrialized nations? In some states of the U.S., people pay five–cent deposit when they buy beer and other beverages. In order to get the money back, people collect cans and bottles. Human beings are egoistic: we have to give ourselves some kind of monetary incentive. And it works. (4) Planting Trees to help combat global warming As we know, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. However, scientists found that the carbon–sink effect grows out of recent evidence that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Global Warming and Climate Change Essay Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the earth. Global warming can and...show more content... Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed 20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane) A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Global Warming Essay NGS integrates greenhouse into other major policy initiatives, such as the Natural Heritage Trust, and launches new measures to increase greenhouse emission reduction activities across the Australian community. It provides the strategic framework for an effective greenhouse response and for meeting current and future international commitments. It will provide a fresh impetus for action by governments, stakeholder groups and the broader community and set directions for that action into the next century. Rising sea levels pose a significant risk to coastal communities, while the world's oceans could become too acidic to support coral reefs and other calcifying marine organisms. Climate change is difficult to communicate by its very nature. Greenhouse gases are invisible, and their accumulating effects (e.g., global warming, precipitation changes, and extreme weather events) can take years before they are felt. Worldwide warming trends are hard for the average person to detect amidst the variability of everyday weather and the causes are far removed, in both time and space, from the impacts. Climate change is thus an example of "hidden hazards"–risks that, despite potentially serious consequences for society, generally pass unnoticed or unheeded until they reach disaster proportions (Kasperson and Kasperson, 1991). Council previously adopted the Eurobodalla Shire Council Greenhouse Action Plan 2007–2012. • 19. Reflection Paper On Global Warming In the first day of English 101 Climate Change and Multimedia class, Professor Sheila Tefft assigned the class to write a self–reflection about our perspective on writing. I wrote that I use recursive strategy, which is writing in the order of a thesis statement, topic sentences, evidence, analysis, and conclusion. Knowing this approach, I thought I would be successful. However, I encountered more challenges in this class than a success. I encountered a challenge in the first major assignment, which was writing a research paper after reading Mark Lynas' Six Degrees. In this research paper, we had to address our opinion on one environmental issue, and I asked myself whether vertical farming could be a potential solution to stopping deforestation in Brazil. The objective of this writing, according to the syllabus, was to learn how to "summarize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the ideas of others as we [you] undertake a scholarly inquiry to produce our [your] own arguments." I exactly followed this step. I first did a general research on vertical farming and deforestation in Brazil, analyzed the information, synthesized the main argument, and delivered my thought to my audience, who are general public and proponents believing vertical farming is the future of agriculture. The challenge had started when I had changed my opinion from vertical farming can stop deforestation to vertical farming cannot stop deforestation. It was a struggle to me, as pundits have already proven Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Global Warming Essay Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its average temperature. Global warming isn't the end of the world, it's just a natural process in which the Earth cleans or rinse organisms. Now a days the Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide...show more content... Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of temperature changes. Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched; these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run Get more content on HelpWriting.net
