About Me
Hello! My name is Abby Simplot and I am one of
the students in your Southeast Asian Studies class. I
moved to Lodi about 10 years ago with my mother, Sara,
father, Brad, and brother, Ben. My parents are both
engineers and my brother is in eighth grade and hopes to
travel to Thailand with the exchange program in high
school. I have enjoyed participating in sports throughout
high school, and currently I am on the swim team. After
swim season ends, I coach a swim team for middle
schoolers over the winter. I am in Spanish Club because I
am interested in foreign languages and cultures, which is
one of the reasons I took this class. Another reason I took
this class is because I got really close to one of the Thai
students, France, that came to Lodi in 2013. I have kept
in contact with her and would
like to meet more of the incoming Thai students this year. I learned to love Thai culture even
more this summer when two Thai college students, Kody and Sun, came to the USA on work
visas. They both worked at Smokey Hollow Campground where I work and I got to spend the
summer showing them around Wisconsin and working with them. I hope to visit Thailand
someday and see Sun, Kody and France. Eventually I want to get a job that works international
business and different cultures, so I am very excited to be taking this class!
