COURSE PERSPECTIVE:
The objective o this course would be to give a brief idea about the design of the law which affect
the hospitality needs main aim of the subjects.
While it is true that good hospitality management means satisfying patron & guest , it also
encompasses protecting the business from kinds of accidents , attitudes and incidents that can
lead to legal case. Most law unit can be prevented if management & staff are properly trained to
recognize potential pitfalls and guard against them.
Our prime objective has always been to be arm the student with the legal knowledge needed to
prevent law suits against their companies.
OUTCOME:
On successful completion of the module, the student should be able to:
Understand & assimilate the concepts of Law which is used by the hospitality industry.
Develop a better appreciation of the discipline of law generically as also in a corporate
environment;
Rationalize the happenings in the market place, and basic understanding of project selection /
feasibility , specific clearances required by the Government .
Infrastructure requirements-Specific Clearances from civic bodies
Determine his/her level of interest in the discipline, for future specializations.

PEDAGOGY:
The emphasis here would be on applying the concepts learnt in class. Hence greater reliance will
be on hands-on assignments and field work, apart from case analysis.(
Group Work:
For this module on (TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AS ESTABLISHED BYVLAW&
NEED) all home assignments, class presentations , The groups may be formed yourself. For
effective learning group size will not exceed 4. Student has to submit detail project report for the
brand he chose for. This report should contain all the topic as mentioned in the list .
Names of group members must be conveyed to the faculty by email, before the
commencement of session 2.
2. EVALUATION:
Please note that grades for internal assessment CAN NOT be made up if any assignment
or component is missed. Hence the students are advised to be regular with their attendance so
that they do not miss any surprise quizzes and punctual with all their assignments.
All written assignments with a due date that MUST be submitted accordingly, without
exception. Failure to do so will lead to the assignment being marked with an ‘F’. Unless
specified otherwise, all assignments will be due for submission on the day indicated in the
session plan and must be emailed to the faculty. The onus to submit the assignment will be on
the group. The cut-off time for submissions is 5 pm on the due date.
The evaluation elements will be as per IHM Pusa norms.

The bound volume of reading material and cases is to supplement the reading requirements of
this course and also form the basis for classroom discussion. This volume MUST be carried to
class on the relevant class days.
Term Assignment:
Pick any Retail brand that fascinates your group and evaluate the following aspects of that brand that
have been listed below. While picking the brand keep the prospect of obtaining company or brand related
information as a major requirement and hence any source of information should be a guiding
consideration for effective conduct of this assignment. The aspects to be studied being chosen from all
the topic which is covered in the class.
Submission in session 9. Delays in submission will invoke subsequent punishment based on the
marks .
